Not very flavourful. I ended up just going with the black bean veggie noodles. I know it's a dim sum place but I was with a group who mostly eat pork and I don't so I chose among the limited options. Huge portions but I won't be back. No salt or seasoning. I found the food bland.

A decent dim sum spot with a staple amount of variety when it comes to choices for what to get. As for the wait time, it definitely could've been improved. The decor and overall atmosphere was decent, but seemed like it wasn't as clean as it could've been (waited a long time to reset tables).

First walked in and got a table for 2 right away. It took them about 5 minutes to take our order, so everything was going fine at first, even though I felt like they could've been a bit more welcoming. After ordering, I felt like the food was a little overpriced, but nothing crazy. The noodles were a bit dry and crunchy, but everything else was good until I found rotten green peppers. I was honestly disappointed. I get that it could've been an honest mistake, but they really need to pay more attention. What really annoyed me was the tip. They added it in without mentioning it at all, and it definitely wasn't worth it since the only time we talked to the waiter was when they took our order and when we paid no check-ups or anything. The total was $64 including their tip, and I gave $70. If I didn't ask for my receipt, I never would've gotten the change back and honestly it just made me feel like I was getting scammed.

Late night eats here always hit the spot Service is quick so expect be in and out quickly. i used to come here all the time after the club so it brings back a lot of memories that I don't really remember. Don't expect 5 star food and service but this definitely satisfies your belly after a long night if drinking I would consider this a late night staple and part of the post bar/club Toronto culture

We enjoyed every dish we ordered (see menu), and the only "average" dish was the look funn (diced beef and preserved vegetables in rice rolls) dish. Generous filling, but average sauce. The spareribs with black bean, seafood dim sum (upscaled version of har gow), sticky rice with Lup cheong and minced pork in lotus leaf (aromatic, too!), soup dumpling (yummy ginger highlighted xiao long bao), bamboo fungus with mixed mushroom dumpling, beef tripe with ginger and scallions (first time eating tripe and it was tender and flavorful!), were all absolutely winner dishes!! The restrooms are clean but are downstairs though, with ample railings on both sides keep you safe. Service was terrific, and even the tea was yummy. Top it off with the requisite fortune cookie and we were stuffed!

My visit to Rol San was fantastic! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a lively and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the meal. The service was exceptional attentive, friendly, and quick, making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were spot-on, with fresh ingredients and beautifully balanced dishes. I highly recommend it for anyone craving authentic and mouth-watering dim sum. It was truly a great dining experience!

The last time we came was at their old location across the street. I remember thinking at the time that I couldn't understand why this place is so popular and I walked away today thinking the same. Tried the har gow, siu mai, fried squid, veg rice roll, sesame paste balls, and saute beef rice noodle. The tea is one choice only. Everything just lacked umami flavour. The Har gow is missing the sweet and lightly savory shrimp flavour. The rice roll texture was good but filling was lackluster. The noodles were quite one dimensionally salty. I'm surprised people mention the squid tentacles, they are very ok. The best things were the black sesame paste balls. I would say that it's not bad, but it's also not good and there are too many other places nearby to spend a meal that you don't find tasty. There is plenty of seating, service is prompt, prices are about 50 cents more per dish here, and a 15% tip is already included.

I came here with 3 other people to have dim sum. We showed up on a weekday and was pleasantly surprised that no reservation was needed unlike Vancouver. We were recommended by colleagues to have dim sum here. The dim sum doesn't disappoint. We ordered 12 items and every items were fresh and delicious. Prices were all very reasonable. It came to $33 per person including tips and tax. The shumai, shrimp dumplings and rice rolls were my favorite. The decor of the place was very modern and clean. The staff were friendly. They serve dim sum all day to my surprise. Parking is tricky to find in the area. We came here by Uber.

I dined at Rol San on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at 10 pm. Where I'm from, there's no decent dim sum restaurants, let alone one that serves until 12-3 am. So after a long day without a proper meal, Rol San being able to serve dim sum at late hours surely hit the spot. I ordered a couple of staple dim sum plates that I usually order when I go to a dim sum place such as the steam shrimp dumpling (har gow), pork and shrimp dimpling (shiu mai), and shrimp rice rolls. The size of the har gow was almost twice the size I usually get in the U.S. and had a lot of shrimp. The shiu mai tasted well-seasoned and fresh. The shrimp rice rolls tasted pretty standard and comparable to all the dim sum restaurants I've been to. The only disappointing dish was the bbq pork (char siu). They didn't look like the picture on the menu as the pork was sliced more thinly and was bathing in a thick soy sauce (probably to compensate for the dryness of the pork resulting from sitting in the warmer all day). It didn't taste bad, just not as good if it was eaten earlier in the day. Service was decent. The restaurant got even busier after we got our food, which was surprising for a late Sunday night. But the attentiveness never wavered. Overall, Rol San succeeds in delivering decent dim sum at convenient late nights with good service. I would recommend Rol San if you're craving for authentic dim sum for second dinner!

It's very good, but the issue comes with the size of the location, and wait times can very. I was lucky that there was a table available. I overheard that some people were looking at a half hour wait. It's not the place to lounge after your meal. It can be loud. I would have given it 5 star but the har gow was over cooked, and sort of fell apart.

Late night dimsum just hits different. This place is great, you can expect a bit of a wait especially on the weekend, but you come here and sit with however many friends you can squeeze or by yourself and its just casual, but very clean. The servers are quite nice and you don't have the anxiety of possibly dishonor any Cantonese ancestors under the pressure of ordering. Sadly my appetite wasn't up to par, but I still had a find experience of this place. The wonton noodle soup was a great portion, with lots of noodles and had a distinct medium shrimp flavor. I think my favorite was the tofu actually, and if I was feeling better I would've definitely eaten more. It is on the pricier side for dimsum, but their portions are big. Only thing is that the options seem more limited than your typical dimsum, but the ambiance makes up for it.

Good place for dim sum and I would give a 4/5 but one dish was so bad (hot and sour soup) that I had to deduct 1 star. Pork dumpling with shrimp shumai- good flavor for the shu mai. Slightly dry but it is expected as it is steamed. 4/5 Shrimp har gow- a bit sticky but respectable for a har gow option. Prefer the shumai. 3/5 Pan fried beef short ribs- great option for a dim sum place as this is never on any dim sum menu! The seasoning is a steak salt/pepper so it tastes more traditional vs Asian type flavors. 5/5 Pan fried turnip cake- good crunch on the outside and soft/tapioca ish consistency on the inside. 4/5 Hot and sour soup- per my initial comment this dish tainted an overall good experience. The soup had a strong pour of vinegar that made it inedible. The foul smell almost ruined everyone's appetite at the table. 0/5

This is the place I visit whenever I think of dim sum and Chinese cuisine. There are many different types of dim sum and it's good to share with your party. My favorite is shrimp dumpling and shiu mai. Other dishes are also good. Employees are kind and explain enough when I asked about unfamiliar menu. Although the place is large and have many tables, there are many people on weekends, so it is better to visit early because there may be waiting during peak times.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Food: I came here for a lunar New Year lunch with some co-workers. They chose the menu which was a combo deal. There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

Behind its unassuming exterior lies a dining room of quiet sophistication: modern, luminous interiors with tasteful appointments that signal immediately this is no ordinary Cantonese restaurant. The dim sum programme is where Moon Palace truly distinguishes itself. Each piece arrives with a precision and generosity of filling that speaks to genuine kitchen pride -- plump dumplings, impeccably fresh shrimp, and roasted meats that carry an unmistakable depth of flavour reminiscent of Hong Kong's finest teahouses. The quality of ingredients is evident in every bite; nothing here feels like an afterthought. What deserves particular commendation is the consistency. Over multiple visits, the standard has never wavered -- a hallmark of disciplined kitchen craft that is rarer than it should be. In a neighbourhood saturated with tourist-facing options, Moon Palace maintains an unwavering commitment to authenticity and refinement. When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
