This is probably my go to spot in chinatown for brunch. They are known for their rice rolls, and I can confirm they're delicious. The skin is thin, soft, silky, and not overly chewy like some other places. I always order the classic BBQ pork rice roll, but this time we also tried the Shrimp & Mushroom Truffle rice roll. It sounded interesting and it was actually really good, you can clearly taste the truffle. We also shared a pork and preserved egg congee since the portion is huge. I've had better congee elsewhere, but this one was okay and tasted better after adding a little soy sauce and white pepper. The sweet items are great as well like the condensed milk toast and the fried milk buns. I haven't tried any of their dimsum items but maybe next time! I've dined in twice here and also ordered delivery a few times. They are known for their cheung fun (rice noodle rolls) and congee, but also offer a limited number of dim sum dishes on their menu. Their beef, shrimp and chive cheung fun is a classic, along with their pork and century egg congee. Their meats are marinated well, and the rice noodles are quite soft. Paired with a Hong Kong milk tea and you have the perfect comfort meal. I only wish that the rice noodle rolls were served hotter as both times I went they were only warm (even though I requested extra hot). Ordered a beef brisket plate and a shrimp congee with some fried dough on the side. The plate comes with a good amount of beef and it was tender enough. I was able to try three of their chang fens-- the truffle mushroom and shrimp one, the beef brisket one and the chinese fried donut / 油条（not pictured). All of them were super delicious and flavourful! I also loved how they had an immense variety that I don't normally see offered since I've only had the shrimp and beef ones before. It's also great to get multiple ones to share with friends since each one was between 6.99-11.99. The donut one came with a hoisin like sauce and was very crispy, both the beef brisket and the truffle one also had delicious sauces. Their shu mai was okay but nothing too special. However, I was pleasantly surprised by their congee as well -- the mixed congee came with many different toppings including different veggies, bamboo and peanuts as well as white pepper on the side. Our 1st meal while visiting Toronto was Yin Ji Chang Fan. Since it's already in their name, the chang fan/rice rolls is a must have. There were so many choices to choose from on the menu, and you order it by the number. We ordered a few rice rolls plus some dim sum, congee and beef brisket noodles for the 4 of us. We also added the Chinese donut Ox Tongue since I don't see this item that often. Everything came out quickly, it was delicious and flavorful. The truffle mushroom rice roll was of course just truffle oil, but we enjoyed the BBQ pork and shrimps rice rolls. I thought the rice noodle rolls were a big portion size and also tasted good. It was served as one giant roll versus some other places you might see it rolled up into smaller rolls. The HK style rice noodle roll was OK - I personally prefer the one at Sugar Marmalade more because this one felt a bit too saucy in the wrong way... My friends enjoyed their rice noodle roll. For the BBQ pork bun....when it was served to us, it was cold and very obvious it had been going through a defrosting that wasn't finished. My friend noted that the filling in hers was cold as if it came out of the fridge without being heated. Mine and my other friend's pieces were on the colder side of lukewarm. And for the seafood congee...the portion size and price were great. However, the seafood itself was very fishy and not fresh tasting. I was disappointed as I really love congee and this was unfortunately not it. Because the restaurant was busy, we were kind of being rushed to leave. We weren't finished eating our food, yet the server was already trying to take the dishes (with plenty of food still on it) back and hand us the bill. We were timing our stay because we had plans to attend an event after eating, so it was kind of odd. The first time I had this place was in LA and love the food. This one is located in Toronto Chinatown. It opens pretty early, great breakfast place! Since there was four of us, we ordered different items to try. There was curry fish ball, fish jook, Chinese doughnut, chicken feet, and rice roll (popular items). Everything came out fresh and hot. The restaurant service is pretty fast and almost like fast food style service. I also really like their congees as they are not too thick, I tend to like my congee a bit more runny. One thing that's always amazing about this chain is how tender all the meats taste. It's never tasting rough. The store itself is ok. When you visit it, you are not there for the atmosphere. Yin Ji Chang Fen has a location in BC Richmond but I have never been. My colleague told me that they have a location here in Toronto and it is way better than the location in BC. On top the prices are much more cheaper than the BC location (each items $1 to $2 difference). If you order from Uber, they have a BOGO deal going on. I tried their: - Shrimp and Chives rice rolls - Siu Mai - Beef Congee. Wow I have to say their portion size is huge. They were very generous on the shrimp in the rice roll. Clean spot for good food, cheap prices, friendly staff, fast service, and great hours! You could come here for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even late night until midnight. Their chang fen range from $5.25-7.50 and the portions are definitely shareable if you want to try a variety. We tried their beef+shrimp+chives ($7.25), pork+shrimp+chives ($7.25), and dried shrimp ($5.50). I highly recommend adding their delicious chili oil and sprinkling some white pepper, otherwise the slightly sweet and very savory soy sauce that comes with the chang fen is already very delicious! The chang fen had a really nice portion of each type of filling and the rice noodle part was super chewy. They also have other items like congee and snacks. We got the oyster congee ($9.99) which is definitely shareable between two people. It was packed with oysters and the oysters were super fresh. We also got a sticky rice wrap ($5.75) which I thought was okay. The rice had good flavor but could have used more seasoning. Lastly we tried the deep fried steamed buns ($4.50). These were very crispy on the outside but were fried so much that they were a little dry on the inside. The condensed milk helped a little with the dryness. Overall I had a really great experience trying various items from their menu! It seems that their chang fen and congee are definitely their stronger dishes so I'd order more of those next time. The food here was mediocre and nothing too mind-blowing. If you had curry fish balls from Hong Kong, then these pale in comparison; not much curry flavor and the fish ball isn't that great quality. The congee has a strong flavor, which shows that it's been stewing for a bit which is great, but the ingredients in the congee did not really enhance the flavor that much. If you had congee from Sam's Delight, then this will definitely pale in comparison as well. The rice roll was also plain and not too fascinating as well; the crepe was soft and fresh, but other than that, the overall dish was just mediocre.
