this is a great rice noodle spot. it can be busy at times but the food is top-notch, the servers are nice, and it's got a very homestyle atmosphere. One of the best spots

We had a fabulous lunch at Yin Ji Chang Fen- tons of photos on menu to simplify ordering We split a rice roll and congee and it was the perfect amount for two There are small slips of paper and pencils at the table- write the number of the item you want to order and the waitress will pick up the slip from you- super easy, but if you don't realize the paper and pencils are there, you might wait a while thinking she's coming to take your order

A good place to get congee and dimsum. No wait. The congee is different from LA; they add lettuce in it. Im a big fan of rice rolls so this hits the spot for me.

Overall: A // 5 stars If you are Cantonese, you definitely know this chain as a great chain that consolidates all your favorite canto breakfast food at value prices and good quality into one location. If you are not Cantonese but like Cantonese food, this is the place to check out for just that! Cantonese comfort food done well -- do I need to say more? (Iceberg Lettuce: B) - This dish is a bit difficult to eat as its just half a head of iceberg lettuce (not even unwrapped) steamed for several minutes, and then topped with soy. Nevertheless, this was exactly what I wanted to eat that day and it was cooked simple but cooked well. (Beef Cheung Fun: A) - The rice crepe is on the thicker side, but not in a way that is unpleasant to consume. The filling is everything I would want in this dish, perfectly done; we got tender beef pieces, and some lettuce for some freshness; the subtle details of tangerine peel, cilantro, and chinese chive all help to add flavor in this $9cad perfection. The soy sauce also does a good job balancing sugar and saline, an often neglected part that is instrumental to bringing this dish to the next level. (Honey Lemon Tea: A) - Simple tea that just hits any time of year whether its hot or cold since it comes in both forms. At $4cad, you just gotta try this sweet, slightly acidic, very strong classic Hong Kong tea. We came here as a group of four on a weekday night, and a lot of seating was available. We ordered over 10 dishes and left feeling full. Some dishes were ordered: salted egg congee, noodles, shrimp and chive rice roll, marinated beef rice roll, fried fish skin, fried shrimp roll, BBQ pork bun, and curry fish ball. There are also several desserts and drinks available. My favourites were shrimp and chive rice rolls, fried shrimp rolls, and BBQ pork buns. My least favourite was the curry fish balls (too chewy), noodles and congee (didn't like the flavours - personal preference). Overall, the service was quick, and we got a lot of tea refills. I had a really good experience with our meal as the quality was great and prices were reasonable (under $25 per person). Accessibility: The washroom is downstairs. Paid and free street parking is available nearby. Transit accessible.

This is a location of Yi Ji Chan Fen in downtown Toronto. They serve rice rolls, congee, dim sum, drinks and other snacks. The interior is quite spacious, clean, and well organized. You can order via a QR code at your table. The food is fresh and service is fast. The prices are also very reasonable. Overall, great value for money and great to drop in for a quick snack.

Came for some dinner around 5 pm. Place was mostly empty, so food came to at a good pace. Later on more people started trickling in. Ordered a beef brisket plate and a shrimp congee with some fried dough on the side. The plate comes with a good amount of beef and it was tender enough. Congee was delicious, although the fried dough could be a bit crispier. During the meal I heard a loud zap, as if something was being electrocuted. And indeed, one of the staff was terminating some flies. Dinner and show! I like a restaurant that makes an effort to get rid of flies. 5 stars right there.

This place was recommended by a friend for their infamous rice rolls. As this is something I don't get often in Boston, I had to try all their specialties on the menu. We were here after the lunch rush hour and were seated right away. They have so many menu options! And each has English translation. We got congee, bunch of rice rolls and a condensed milk toast. Everything was absolutely delicious. Special mention to their chilli oil! Will be here again, comfort food in chilly weather.

    Chicken feet

Stopped in for a quick bite and tried the truffle shrimp rice roll and chicken feet. I really enjoyed the rice roll, it was tasty. The chicken feet were just okay for me. They gave us a menu when we sat down, but told us to order everything through the QR code. Not a big deal, just something to know. Overall, a solid spot.

Food is amazing especially the milk tea! It is my all time favourite. The rice roll way better than many other Chinese restaurant but the dim sum is not very good. Better to get it in a real yum cha restaurant. Service is so so. You order your food using the QR code and the staff will bring you the food. The restaurant is clean and cozy tho.

Truffle mushroom x shrimp chang fen

I went to this place two times when I was visiting Toronto for a weekend because it was simply that good! I was able to try three of their chang fens-- the truffle mushroom and shrimp one, the beef brisket one and the chinese fried donut / 油条(not pictured). All of them were super delicious and flavourful! I also loved how they had an immense variety that I don't normally see offered since I've only had the shrimp and beef ones before. It's also great to get multiple ones to share with friends since each one was between 6.99-11.99. The donut one came with a hoisin like sauce and was very crispy, both the beef brisket and the truffle one also had delicious sauces. Their shu mai was okay but nothing too special. However, I was pleasantly surprised by their congee as well -- the mixed congee came with many different toppings including different veggies, bamboo and peanuts as well as white pepper on the side. Lastly, I'd also recommend their milk tea since it comes in a bowl of ice -- it's not too sweet either! This place is definitely a must try for congee and chang fen with affordable prices

Our 1st meal while visiting Toronto was Yin Ji Chang Fan. Since it's already in their name, the chang fan/rice rolls is a must have. There were so many choices to choose from on the menu, and you order it by the number. We ordered a few rice rolls plus some dim sum, congee and beef brisket noodles for the 4 of us. We also added the Chinese donut Ox Tongue since I don't see this item that often. Everything came out quickly, it was delicious and flavorful. The truffle mushroom rice roll was of course just truffle oil, but we enjoyed the BBQ pork and shrimps rice rolls. The only thing is the rice roll is a bit more soggy/mochi like which takes getting used to with the chopsticks. Lunch was great and prices were reasonable.

Went there before noon on Sunday and the place was fairly busy. Amazing food! My fav were congee with century egg and pork, and truffle shrimp chang fen.

I'm not a bad carb person so I can barely make a dent in their rice/noodle dishes for lunch. So I was happy to see non-rice/noodles based dishes that is served all day and not just tea time. I ordered the yuzu chicken steak with potato salad. It comes with a drink and soup. The chicken steak was deep fried, with liminal batter and the met remains juicy. The yuzu sauce was spread on top. First time seeing chicken + yuzu at a cha cheng teng. What took me by surprised was the potato salad. It was definitely made in house, with chunks of apples, carrots, red onion, ham and eggs. Love how it was also not dose in miracle whip. I chose the Chinese soup (instead of western style) and it was flavorful. I would said better than most Chinese restaurants who gives for complimentary soup for dinner. There was minimal MSG, as I didn't feel thirsty afterwards. The HK milk tea was the weaker component of this set, the tea base was lacking in flavour and didnt have the "thick" texture to it.

The taste of the food is pretty much spot on to the other locations, and very classic cha chaan teng foods. Service here is really good actually! They are super attentive and are sure to repeat your order so they have it right. They come to refill your water quickly and often as well. The place isn't very busy most of the time, so it's usually pretty easy to get a seat.

We ordered a 'small' congee and genuinely thought they'd brought us a large by mistake; it was easily enough to feed a family of 4 or 5. The pumpkin congee was a standout--perfectly savory with a subtle hint of sweetness. It's easily one of my new favorites. We also tried the beef stir-fry with rice noodle rolls, which was incredibly aromatic and delicious. To finish, the coconut pudding was the perfect end to the meal--sweet, but not overly so. The staff was friendly, and despite how busy they were, the service was impressively fast. Highly recommend!

We ordered what we thought was a regular-sized soup to share, plus a couple of main course dishes. When the soup arrived, we both just looked at each other like "What the hell?!" - it was enormous! Easily enough for 3-4 people. The portions here are seriously huge, so keep that in mind when ordering. What we thought would be a light meal turned into a very filling feast. The food itself was really good. The soup was flavourful and comforting, and the mains we chose were tasty with generous amounts of meat/veggies and solid seasoning. Everything tasted fresh and properly cooked - definitely above average for downtown Chinese food. Location is super convenient if you're in the Dundas area - easy to get to, right in the heart of downtown. Great spot to hang out, especially if you're hungry and want good value. Just be prepared to either come with an appetite or take leftovers home (we definitely did!). Would happily go back next time we're craving Chinese in the area. Highly recommend! Perfect place for a casual catch-up with friends - just don't underestimate the portion sizes!
