Satay beef rice soup noodle with an egg sunny side up
William L.

The decor is nice and modern cozy. Someone put since time and effort into creating this space. I really wanted to like this place. The menu seems to combine Cantonese favorites and some HK style western dishes. On the recommendation of the waitress (this should be something they are known for or is very popular... but i don't know of this was the case) I tried the stay beef rice noodle soup. Since it was a set meal it came with a drink which was nice. The flavor was OK... but I can't say it would get me to come back. The portion was OK... but I kinda felt it was recommended because it's the cheapest to make and with the soup will be filling. It was all ok... but if this is "the recommendation" it didn't wow me in any way to make me feel I have to come back and try other things too. I know that can be a tall order without knowing palette preferences but that's what asking questions to me could guide the recommendation. I get it the server was busy and can't spend all their time on me so for now it'll have to be 3 stars until/if I eat there again. I think I have to try some other items on the menu

Located right on woodbine and apple creek. This place is in the plaza with Mine sushi and pho restaurant. This place gets busy but they have plenty of seats. Kind of like a fast food HK restaurant. They have a cute menu which I forgot to take a pic of that isn't ripped/dirty as some Chinese restaurants I've been to. They offer a build your own baked dish which is incredible because I love baked with rice dishes. I got the chicken for the first time with added mushroom. Cost is reasonable around $15. I will be coming here again for sure.

My new favourite HK cafe! Better yet, the owners are Macanese -- so their menu also offers authentic dishes from Macao, which is so hard to find here. Clearly beloved already as it was very crowded and our table of 6 had to wait a while for a table. The space is large but fills quickly. You self-check-in at the door, and wait patiently for staff to call your name. It's analog but works! The staff are super friendly here. Our party of 6 enjoyed all the food and drinks! My faves were the classic pork chop rice (with extra fried egg on top) and Portugese chicken rice. My drink of choice was a hot fresh ginger lemon honey drink -- spicy from the ginger and so warming for these winter days! Can't wait to return and try more dishes -- especially the Macanese ones!

Came here on a weekend right after 12pm. Luckily the weather was terrible so got a table fairly quickly. The restaurant is much smaller than I thought and the tables were awfully close to each other. A guy was wearing his jacket and his jacket literally hit my arm but he didn't apologize - how rude! In terms of food, got two "baked" dishes to try. Both were tasty and it came with a free drink. Cold lemon tea was $1.99 extra. Both dishes were around $14.50-$16.00. Reasonable portion and tasty too!

Baked BBQ Pork on Rice and Spicy BBQ Chicken Steak on Potatoes

I've never been too into the thought of baked dishes like so, but a friend pushed me to try the baked BBQ pork on rice, and I was completely sold! The sauce was so rich and flavourful! I added a bit of the Chicken Steak to the rice as well, and that added a nice punch to it all. The gravy for the chicken was insanely good too! I'm so glad I tried this place out, and these dishes are a must get when I go again. It's very popular so it's best to try to book a reservation ahead of time! And they will give you your receipts when you look finished during rush hour to keep the flow moving, but the servers are so kind and respectful and want to ensure a good time.

2.5 stars We used to eat here quite a bit and haven't been in several years. We went during the weekday lunch rush are so there were quite a few customers, but many tables are still available. The acoustics are terrible inside the restaurant. It's so loud. You have to speak very loudly to people you're dining with to be heard. The baked chicken in Portuguese sauce on rice with cheese came out looking good. However, the sauce was too salty and the chicken bland. I suppose they didn't season the chicken. We were a bit shocked with the portion size of the salt and pepper calamari. For $12, I expected more (or maybe I just expected too much?). The coating on the calamari was soft and not crispy and it was so bland. Also, the calamari was on the chewy side. I suspect they get these frozen. Overall, we were disappointed and will not be returning.

I've heard many good things about Woodstone eatery so I just had to see what the hype was for my friends. Its a nice change of pace to see a HK style cafe menu utilize a lot of modern design and very high quality photos, which lead me to choose the bbq pork on rice with cheese ontop. However, what I received was quite different from what was pictured and I was expecting a more tender cut of pork. Looking at photos from other diners, I might come back to try their breakfast menu but perhaps I set my expectations a bit high.

Baked chicken with black pepper sauce on rice

Updated overall rating: 4.4/5 Recently returned twice for breakfast and weekend lunch, and the food did not disappoint! Breakfast: I had a classic HK breakfast of macaroni in soup with ham & and fried egg. The bowl is deeper than it looks by the way. For those of you who haven't had this dish before, let me just say that there is an art to a good macaroni ham soup. The soup can't be too salty, and the macaroni needs to retain its texture (not al dente, but definitely not mushy either) - and this dish hit all the boxes. Lunch: Incredibly filling - I finally got around to trying their famous spicy bbq chicken thigh steak, and it is as delicious as advertised! The chicken was huge and packed with spiced flavour. If you want to soak up the juices and gravy, definitely go for the spaghetti/rice instead of the fried potatoes. The curry beef brisket bread bowl is a new menu item, and it was also much bigger than we anticipated. I love that they included extra curry on the side to soak up all that soft, yet sturdy bread bowl. The curry isn't watered down or too thick, and you get nice sized chunks of tender beef brisket. Barely any veggies in sight for both dishes, which you can decide if that's a pro/con ;) Honestly, the only thing keeping this place from a 5 star review is that it is a little bit pricier (especially with my macaroni soup) than other HK-style cafes, but then again, their menu is more unique!

We have been to this newly discovered cafe restaurant twice this month. It features Macau food and not easy to find in other restaurant. We enjoyed our food very much, the hongkong milk tea is especially tasty. The service is very attentive and the space is small ( one star is deducted here) but the deco is good. Highly recommend it! Give it a try if you are in the area.

If you are looking for another place for HK food, you should check out this spot. There is ample room to park (though I recommend making sure your car door is locked given some recent car break-ins). The service was quick and straight forward. We didn't have to wait too long (5-10 mins). Be prepared to be seated closely with others. The portion size was enough for a meal and comes with a tea. I got the baked spaghetti bolognese with chicken filet with cheese. Very flavourful and had lots of chicken!

Woodstone Eatery is an asian fusion restaurant located in the busy Apple Creek plaza. Despite a seemingly large parking lot, we struggled to find parking during lunchtime on the Friday before Christmas. Fortunately, there was a table for 6 open when we entered. We decided to go family-style, so we ordered the fried salt and pepper wings, macau style stewed beef brisket udon in soup, hainanese chicken on rice, chicken pad thai, baked fish fillet on spaghetti in tomato sauce w cheese, and classic bbq pork. The wings were nicely fried, but were pretty small in my opinion. The chicken on rice was nicely presented and I was a fan of the chicken pad thai, which was a bit spicy! My personally favorite was the fish with spaghetti and the classic BBQ pork was also very tasty and flavorful! Overall, the menu was very extensive and I would definitely recommend it! I hope to come back in the future to try other items on their menu!

Another great place for HK cafe! They are always busy. Ordered 1 French toast with mango drink 4/5 2. Fried chicken wings with fries 5/5 3. Ham and egg bun 3/5 4. Self picked spaghetti 5/5 5. Portuguese grilled chicken on rice 5/5 Overall great quality with reasonable price, normal portion size, service is good and fast. Seating space is tight though. Recommend

Came here for some dinner with friends! Thought it was a decent hk cafe spot but nothing spectacular. I got the black pepper chicken ($14.50) plus $1 for a cold lemon tea. It was pretty tasty and filling. Pretty standard price for the food.

To be honest, it is not perfect in many dimensions: It's not spacious and feels too greedy to have too many tables. It is not a good place if you really want to have an elegant environment to have your meals. The servers are a bit aggressive. But despite of all those disadvantages, I still give it 5 stars because it has the PERFECT food! I almost dropped some tears when I tasted my first bite of the dish I ordered, stored fried beef with tomatoes and eggs. I think what it does best is that it adapt its dishes to use the local produce and meat, and still keep the legit HongKong food flavors. My wife ordered the stir fried instant noodles and it was full of pepper, mushrooms and soy sauce flavor. Spicy pork soup vermicelli combo comes with eggs and toast. Soup vermicelli was good and flavorful. I opted for scrambled eggs and it was perfectly smooth and creamy. Toasts were a bit on a bland side. Curry fish ball, turnip and pig skin was decent. Slightly oily and also a bit on a sweeter note. Curry beef brisket has a hint of spicyness and has coconut milk. Nice curry taste but also a bit too sweet imo. Brisket was tender overall. Tomato sauce pork cutlet with rice was good flavour. Pork cutlet was crispy and juicy but tomato sauce was a little sweeter than usual. Coconut red bean drink was decent but the red beans were too hard and lacks the sandyness (softer texture). If you've had red bean dessert soup then you would know what i mean. Would of been better if the red bean quality was better. 4 stars overall.
