Located right on woodbine and apple creek. This place is in the plaza with Mine sushi and pho restaurant. This place gets busy but they have plenty of seats. Kind of like a fast food HK restaurant. They have a cute menu which I forgot to take a pic of that isn't ripped/dirty as some Chinese restaurants I've been to. They offer a build your own baked dish which is incredible because I love baked with rice dishes. I got the chicken for the first time with added mushroom. Cost is reasonable around $15. I will be coming here again for sure.

My new favourite HK cafe! Better yet, the owners are Macanese -- so their menu also offers authentic dishes from Macao, which is so hard to find here. Clearly beloved already as it was very crowded and our table of 6 had to wait a while for a table. The space is large but fills quickly. You self-check-in at the door, and wait patiently for staff to call your name. It's analog but works! The staff are super friendly here. Our party of 6 enjoyed all the food and drinks! My faves were the classic pork chop rice (with extra fried egg on top) and Portugese chicken rice. My drink of choice was a hot fresh ginger lemon honey drink -- spicy from the ginger and so warming for these winter days! Can't wait to return and try more dishes -- especially the Macanese ones!

Came here on a weekend right after 12pm. Luckily the weather was terrible so got a table fairly quickly. The restaurant is much smaller than I thought and the tables were awfully close to each other. A guy was wearing his jacket and his jacket literally hit my arm but he didn't apologize - how rude! In terms of food, got two "baked" dishes to try. Both were tasty and it came with a free drink. Cold lemon tea was $1.99 extra. Both dishes were around $14.50-$16.00. Reasonable portion and tasty too!

I've never been too into the thought of baked dishes like so, but a friend pushed me to try the baked BBQ pork on rice, and I was completely sold! The sauce was so rich and flavourful! I added a bit of the Chicken Steak to the rice as well, and that added a nice punch to it all. The gravy for the chicken was insanely good too! I'm so glad I tried this place out, and these dishes are a must get when I go again. It's very popular so it's best to try to book a reservation ahead of time! And they will give you your receipts when you look finished during rush hour to keep the flow moving, but the servers are so kind and respectful and want to ensure a good time.

2.5 stars We used to eat here quite a bit and haven't been in several years. We went during the weekday lunch rush are so there were quite a few customers, but many tables are still available. The acoustics are terrible inside the restaurant. It's so loud. You have to speak very loudly to people you're dining with to be heard. The baked chicken in Portuguese sauce on rice with cheese came out looking good. However, the sauce was too salty and the chicken bland. I suppose they didn't season the chicken. We were a bit shocked with the portion size of the salt and pepper calamari. For $12, I expected more (or maybe I just expected too much?). The coating on the calamari was soft and not crispy and it was so bland. Also, the calamari was on the chewy side. I suspect they get these frozen. Overall, we were disappointed and will not be returning.

I've heard many good things about Woodstone eatery so I just had to see what the hype was for my friends. Its a nice change of pace to see a HK style cafe menu utilize a lot of modern design and very high quality photos, which lead me to choose the bbq pork on rice with cheese ontop. However, what I received was quite different from what was pictured and I was expecting a more tender cut of pork. Looking at photos from other diners, I might come back to try their breakfast menu but perhaps I set my expectations a bit high.

Updated overall rating: 4.4/5 Recently returned twice for breakfast and weekend lunch, and the food did not disappoint! Breakfast: I had a classic HK breakfast of macaroni in soup with ham & and fried egg. The bowl is deeper than it looks by the way. For those of you who haven't had this dish before, let me just say that there is an art to a good macaroni ham soup. The soup can't be too salty, and the macaroni needs to retain its texture (not al dente, but definitely not mushy either) - and this dish hit all the boxes. Lunch: Incredibly filling - I finally got around to trying their famous spicy bbq chicken thigh steak, and it is as delicious as advertised! The chicken was huge and packed with spiced flavour. If you want to soak up the juices and gravy, definitely go for the spaghetti/rice instead of the fried potatoes. The curry beef brisket bread bowl is a new menu item, and it was also much bigger than we anticipated. I love that they included extra curry on the side to soak up all that soft, yet sturdy bread bowl. The curry isn't watered down or too thick, and you get nice sized chunks of tender beef brisket. Barely any veggies in sight for both dishes, which you can decide if that's a pro/con ;) Honestly, the only thing keeping this place from a 5 star review is that it is a little bit pricier (especially with my macaroni soup) than other HK-style cafes, but then again, their menu is more unique!

We have been to this newly discovered cafe restaurant twice this month. It features Macau food and not easy to find in other restaurant. We enjoyed our food very much, the hongkong milk tea is especially tasty. The service is very attentive and the space is small ( one star is deducted here) but the deco is good. Highly recommend it! Give it a try if you are in the area.

If you are looking for another place for HK food, you should check out this spot. There is ample room to park (though I recommend making sure your car door is locked given some recent car break-ins). The service was quick and straight forward. We didn't have to wait too long (5-10 mins). Be prepared to be seated closely with others. The portion size was enough for a meal and comes with a tea. I got the baked spaghetti bolognese with chicken filet with cheese. Very flavourful and had lots of chicken!

Woodstone Eatery is an asian fusion restaurant located in the busy Apple Creek plaza. Despite a seemingly large parking lot, we struggled to find parking during lunchtime on the Friday before Christmas. Fortunately, there was a table for 6 open when we entered. We decided to go family-style, so we ordered the fried salt and pepper wings, macau style stewed beef brisket udon in soup, hainanese chicken on rice, chicken pad thai, baked fish fillet on spaghetti in tomato sauce w cheese, and classic bbq pork. The wings were nicely fried, but were pretty small in my opinion. The chicken on rice was nicely presented and I was a fan of the chicken pad thai, which was a bit spicy! My personally favorite was the fish with spaghetti and the classic BBQ pork was also very tasty and flavorful! Overall, the menu was very extensive and I would definitely recommend it! I hope to come back in the future to try other items on their menu!

Another great place for HK cafe! They are always busy. Ordered 1 French toast with mango drink 4/5 2. Fried chicken wings with fries 5/5 3. Ham and egg bun 3/5 4. Self picked spaghetti 5/5 5. Portuguese grilled chicken on rice 5/5 Overall great quality with reasonable price, normal portion size, service is good and fast. Seating space is tight though. Recommend

Came here for some dinner with friends! Thought it was a decent hk cafe spot but nothing spectacular. I got the black pepper chicken ($14.50) plus $1 for a cold lemon tea. It was pretty tasty and filling. Pretty standard price for the food.

The food? Five stars. Service? Three stars. My rating is four stars. A few weeks ago, I was running errands on a Saturday and needed a late lunch. I was near Woodstone Eatery and had heard about how great its Hong Kong-style food was. I came here for lunch. The eatery is in the same plaza as Mr Sub, Mi-Ne Sushi, and more. The parking lot was busy, but I found a decent parking spot fairly close by. I backed into the spot and walked in. I waited patiently for someone to come over. It took a while. I eventually got a nice man who got me a menu and had me sit at a booth. I was just in time for happy hour. Yay, deals! I got hot tea immediately. The downside was that no one came to take my order for fifteen minutes. It wasn't all that busy at 3 pm. I eventually waved my hand and arm around to flag one of the servers. It was ridiculous, but the extra arm exercise worked. I got the following: - Hot milk tea - Beef brisket with instant noodles in broth My hot milk tea came out first. I drank it growing up and it brought back good memories. It was good. It wasn't terribly sweet, which I appreciated. The beef brisket with instant noodles were delicious. I loved how tender the beef brisket morsels were. The instant noodles were chewy and perfect. The broth was so good. It was hearty and comforting. I saw many folks come in with takeout orders. I'll need to do that next time. The food is yummy and it's worth exploring the menu more. Maybe service is better when it's not just me dining in. Perhaps I need to grab a friend or a group of them to dine at this establishment for faster service. Who knows? I'll be back for takeout. It's a good Hong Kong-style eatery. (85)

Personally, I felt like many of the dishes were elevated or fancier versions of Asian classics. The crab truffle chawanmushi was super creamy, with crab meat on top and truffle flavors. For $40...ya idk it wasn't anything crazy and I would have loved it with a bowl of rice (maybe that's me being too Chinese lol). But also I've seen other review of the chawanmushi and it seems like every time, the amount of crab on it is different. Mine didn't seem to have as much compared to the other pictures I have seen which just tell me that they have inconsistencies. It just felt like a lot to just be eating on its own. The mala cream udon was really tasty, I loved the creaminess, cheesiness, and the addition of Chinese pork and spices but it also felt like something that could be make at home. The tuna tataki came with only three pieces for $22, which felt quite small for the price. The flavors were good, but the portion was underwhelming. My favorite was probably the Basque cheesecake it had a rich, creamy texture with a slight hint of saltiness. The Korean fried chicken sliders were also great, the crispy chicken with a well-balanced sauce. For drinks, we got the Zazatar and Golden Pear, and both were really good. The Zazatar, in particular, was quite strong which I liked. While the food was enjoyable, it didn't quite feel worth the price. For this style of food, I think you could find similar options and flavors at a more reasonable price point elsewhere in Markham. Nothing of the dishes like blow me away which is why I'm saying this. The staff were very kind and attentive, which I appreciated. However, the timing of the dishes was a bit off. We received and finished the tuna, then the sliders came out, followed by the udon. Finished that and then we waited about 15-20 minutes before my main (the chawanmushi) arrived, which by that point my partner had already long finished eating. I understand that chawanmushi takes longer to prepare since it's steamed, but a heads-up or better coordination with the rest of the dishes would have been nice. Like severing the appetizers at the same time and serving the mains at the same time. Instead of having the dishes come out one by one and such a long wait between the mains. The space itself is beautiful, with an upscale vibe, great for catching up I don't regret trying it, but it's probably not somewhere I'd return to.

This was a very well seasoned patty, so juicy and a substantial sized patty of fresh not frozen beef. Rarely, would you find a place that can pull off being a brunch/lunch place during the mornings and afternoons and a club and lounge by night. On a Saturday morning where I was looking for a place to grab a bite and to kill a bit of time, I realized through Yelp that Sugar Cafe Lounge is actually open by 10am. I didn't even know they open in the mornings prior to this. The vibe of this place strikes me as a modernized Chinese karaoke place. It totally reminds me of the karaoke places that I used to frequent back in the day. They have the same black and neon purple/pink colour scheme. Dice shakers were readily available and visible. The modernisation portion can be attributed to the existence of a photo booth and kildult style cartoon characters wall stickers along the walls/window. And for a "club/lounge", the servers were definitely very polite and attentive which is a stark contrast to the service that you may come to expect in early 2000s karaoke places. My feeling towards the curry katsu egg Benedict is equally complicated. I think the dish has so much potential, but currently has several flaws. Let's start on a positive note. The hollandise sauce was a fit with the curry flavour. The built in acidity also worked to tone down the sauce's heaviness. But even with the acidity, it was a pretty heavy sauce. I like the taste of the sauce, but it's just too too heavy. The egg whites for the Benedict was a bit over cooked and getting on the rubbery side, yet the yolk remained runny. Which I found odd. The katsu pork is a bit on the smallish side and the batter did not seem like the Japanese panko style batter (seemed a bit closer to HK style). The pork was under seasoned, so the taste was hugely reliant on the sauce. They clearly used some form of milk bread for the dish. It's a decently thick slice, and it didn't seem like your typical wonder bread, but the bread also added to the heaviness of the entire dish. I have no clue how the vibe is at night or how busy it gets, but my feeling towards this place is a little bit complicated.

My fav restaurant for #valentinesday…read more Baked Alaska is still my fav dessert ever, that passionfruit truly elevates the taste profile. I loved the duck confit eggs Benny! It was hearty and flavorful! The eggs were very runny and I used the English muffins and delicious garlic home fries to soak it all up! I'm most pleasantly surprised that we can order from the brunch menu at dinner. I didn't try the AAA steak but I was told that this was absolutely delicious and he wished it was a bigger portion. The rice underneath is a pilaf :) Service was standard. I mean, I don't come here for the service anyway. It's a slightly upscale atmosphere here, no sweatpants please!

Menu change in May 2026! Wild Beast, and many corn flavoured dishes…read more Downside: no more baked Alaska on their dessert menu! Upside: great Asian fusion flavours in the brunch line up. The music is a bit loud and reminded me of club/lounge music, not a chill jazz relaxing brunch atmosphere. Service was slow and the kitchen even slower. When the hostess sat us at our reserved table, she brought up the 90 minute seating rule. Our food didn't come out until the hour mark, so come prepared for hungry or little ones. The Korean french toast has an amazing crunch on the outside and super moist and soft brioche inside. The four slices looked big but was very easy to demolish. PB & J Hamburger was interesting! That is definitely a brunchy sounding dish and it did not disappoint. It was a delicious, messy, goopy burger with so much flavour. Burrata arugula salad with long thin strips of prosciutto was very light. The fig wedges were sweet and this dish was a great starter without being too heavy. Biscoff Latte is always a pleaser; bit of a strange glassware choice for a hot beverage as it has no handles.

The service is what got me, as the food took a very long time for it to come out, especially at this AYCE. Other restaurants they dont take as long, but this one took a long time for some reason. time The decorations and the ovearll enviroment was really cool so it made the place look really nice. The dragon and paintings on the wall is really cool aswell. Would come back and would recommned.

It's a good option if you're looking for something filling without spending too much. Since this is the "special" lunch menu, it is noticeably smaller compared to their regular lunch menu, which is $28.99. You're probably looking at around five options per category at best, and some sections only had two choices. That said, the core sushi and rolls had the most variety, which worked out fine for us since that's mainly what we were there for anyway. In terms of quality, it was pretty much what you'd expect from an AYCE spot, but maybe we got lucky that day because the salmon was actually better than most places. Definitely one of the better bites of the meal. There's also a buffet-style salad and dessert table, so it was great when you just want a little bit of everything without the fear of wasting food. Overall, a solid lunch option in Markham if you're craving sushi and don't mind a smaller menu in exchange for the lower price.
