We went to NKS for dim sum a while back and the food ranged from poor to mediocre. We tried the following dim sum: Steamed beef tendon with special sauce steamed sticky rice with chicken & pork, wrapped in lotus leaves fried Aberdeen black sesame balls pan fried turnip cake with preserved pork steamed rice roll with snow pea leaves Steamed dumpling with coriander and scallops: this was a mess See photos of each below. I wouldn't want to return.

Weekend dim sum: no deals on cash payment or timing of visit. They charge $2 for tea per person, even the kids who don't partake or use the cups. Would love someone to advise me if this can be taken off, so far staff look puzzles when I inquire. Service: typical for Chinese restaurants, not over friendly or helpful but they get the job done. Robots still the highlight for my kids. They speak in cantonese so we don't fully understand but they will excuse themselves if they need to pass a fellow robot. They deliver food to the front of the table but need a human to serve it onto the table still. Face has cat feature ears which the kids find hilarious its a cat robot. The Har Gow is plump and huge, worth the price. The deep fried shirmp dumpling is another winner.

Super cute robots here that will bring some dishes if you eat at the main area. I didn't get to fully experience it because my family had rented out a part of a banquet room but the nice staff brought us a robot server so we could see it. The food was good I especially enjoyed the beef broccoli (beef was soo tender), the shrimp and the very crispy pork. Very spacious place good for a family or big group!

Had my grandmas 88th birthday here. Great spot for banquet dinners. Food portions were big and tasty. High ceilings make the spot very comfortable. Great spot for events. Would recommend coming for dinner.

Sunday night dinner to celebrate the long Canada day weekend. Not sure if this happens every night (probably due to Canada day) but mahjong being played in the back rooms. Chinese line dancing on the right, someone Karaoke singing, all together the sounds making tonight a unique Chinese dining experience. Nothing fancy as far as atmosphere goes but everyone comes for the food; especially the lobster. Peking duck being served at adjacent tables, tempting but we decided to order the lobster as it's fresh, reasonably priced and the restaurant has a good "lobster rep" among the Chinese community. Live lobster brought to your table for your inspection and approval, so bougie!! Every table had a Lobster dish, many different cooking styles to choose on how you want your lobster served. Decided on 2 lobsters, one Cantonese style, the other Magi style. Why not, friends treating, what a glorious way to celebrate Canada day, O Canada!! Also go for the steamed egg dish, not an easy dish to perfect but theirs was the smoothest silkiest steamed egg dish I've had; outstanding Also included a free tapioca dessert and traditional Chinese birthday bun (someone was also celebrating a birthday) Other dishes ordered were standard, stick with their lobster & steamed egg dishes

We were Angelou of 4 who came on a Saturday around 10:45. I think this is the best time to come because it wasn't too busy, only about half the restaurant was full. Because of this, we were served and seate very quickly and our food came out really quickly too. We were in and out in about an hour. We ordered 11 dishes and it came to $100 with tips and taxes included. It easily fed the 4 of us. My favourite dish was the chicken feet and spareribs on rice. Highly recommend

The food was good, service was good and ambiance is typical of a dim sum place. I like the pineapple bun and the egg tart!

Came here on a Wednesday afternoon around 2:30pm. Was able to get a seat for two. They followed covid procedures here by checking your temperature, must wear mask, distanced tables and customer must provide name and number. Overall they do a good job with that. The food is very good especially the durian puff pastry. They made it soo fresh and you can really taste the freshness of the durian in the puff pastry. The rice noodle roll is good, not amazing but would pass regular standards for a rice noodle roll. The bbq pork is also not bad but I've had better. The Peking duck is very good. The meat was very crispy and their wraps are homemade! You can really taste the difference. The wrap could be a bit thinner but I think that would be hard if it's handmade. Overall we usually go dim sum here as it's close by and affordable compared to other dim sum restaurants. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly! I'm so sad their closing again because of the lockdown but will definitely order take out from here during the lockdown if possible.

Many of these less fancy dim sum places usually end up with lower Yelp scores. Doesn't matter though. It's not the millennial "foodies" that will keep them thriving. It's the grannies who drag their millennial grandchildren to dim sum brunch on weekends. I mean, that's what my grandma does to me with Nks. And I LIKE it. Food-wise, the stuff here is actually pretty decent. Take a look at the shots I took. No filter needed. Smooth and plump shrimp rice rolls, glistening egg tarts, nicely glazed BBQ pork buns. But these guys aren't all looks, no substance. Sure, with every place, you'll have weaker dishes, but it's quite tasty overall. For dinner, I just got a chance to take part in the $98 dinner special. The amount of food we got, at such great quality, at THAT price? Unbelievable. Included Peking duck, fried ribs, steamed fish, poached chicken with lots of ginger/green onion oil, bean sprout leaves, and dessert (tofu pudding or sweet mung bean soup). ALL of it was delicious. Seriously, what a steal. We had 5 people and plenty of leftovers. Sure, they're probably not going to top the charts any time soon, but Nks is really quite good. Great food, decent prices, and not-too-shabby service. Oh, and the place is huuuuge so lines aren't that big of an issue. That's already better than a ton of dim sum places out there. And if it keeps grandma happy, well, that's a solid win in my books. (49/100) - 2018

We like the previous owners WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better. It obviously isnt as busy as before. Yet we still come for dinner for the peking duck. Communication is difficult but we manage, however they are so rude when we try to explain what we want. We come here occasionally for dim sum and the pace of the food is consistent. Sometimes it is rather slower and things needed to be reminded. We were here for Thanksgiving dinner and ordered two ducks and some other things. Its interesting how when we asked for the items to be packed up they handed us some styrofoam boxes and left it there (with no bag). If they're going to name themselves a "banquet hall" shouldnt the expectations be of that? Not just because they can book off sections of the room? The service should be just as expected. Maybe I'm high maintenance who knows but meh. The food is just average. Nothing spectacular.

We came here for a big event on the weekends and the restaurant was very accommodating to our needs (we had 1000 people at the event). The restaurant was very spacious and had a stage for our MCs and performances. Our dinner was a 11 course meal and each plate of food tasted great. It's hard to explain every single dish, however, a majority of the meal was equally tender/juicy or flavorful. The portions were very big as our table of 10 couldn't even finish one; we had to put the leftovers in a take out box to which the restaurant has provided for us. Overall, nothing was too dry/overly salted. My all time favorite was their almond cookies because it was very soft. Our server was very polite and able to help our big table out. She was very prompt to ensure everyone had a good portion of food divided, and ensuring our water/tea was always filled up. She also made sure our plates were replaced right away to accommodate the new dishes. We had a lot of favours to ask of her and she was able to do everything. The service was pretty great. This place is recommended for big events :)

Been here lots of times for that traditional Sunday family brunch. Quality is a solid 3* in the sense that it doesn't really stand out but it isn't the worst thing I've ever eaten either. It's a huge restaurant and the service is alright. Honestly, it's about as average à place as you can think of. I did really like their scallop and vermicelli with grated garlic dish. It's huge and it's $6.99, only available on weekends. Definitely get it if you are feeling rich. It's a nice experience and it's actually pretty tasty. I think this is what makes it different from other places. I also really like their congee. Flavour is great but the actual congee is a little too watery, meaning they didn't cook it enough. Finally, I don't know if it's because it's so big but their ac is weak. I was literally sweating and fanning myself the entire meal. I looked like I was having hotpot but I was just having cooled down dimsum. Ridiculous. Their yin yang rice... I wouldn't recommend it. The shrimp has some veins and the taste isn't totally spectacular but the red sourish sauce was not bad.

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.

As a milk tea lover, this alone would make me choose this place over another. :) The restaurant itself is quite spacious. When you enter, it's the front counter and a take out shelf (with LOTS of people ordering take out). There is a dining room to the left and to the right. I like that the tables are generously spaced apart, unlike some other dim sum places. Food wise, it's pretty decent, like any other dim sum place. So we ordered Maggi Lobster (~3lbs) for $34/lb, and stir fried beef with Chinese broccoli (gai lan). The lobster was cooked perfectly, with the Maggi sauce not being too salty. They definitely gave us all the pieces of the 3lbs lobster. The gai lan had a bitter aftertaste, which is common for this vegetable. I wished they had a way to get rid of that. They were generous with the amount of beef and was well marinated. The cut wasn't that great, but that is to be expected. I don't think they added much MSG or at least used good quality ones, as we did not feel overly thirsty later in the evening. They give free daily soup and dessert. What we were most impressive was with the service. The waiters were very attentive, changing our plates twice during our 1ish hour meal. The also gave us wet wipes and more napkins without us requesting it. They even offered us additional soup, which we declined as we were quite full.
