This is our favourite yum-cha place in Toronto. We'd be there every week if it wasn't for the CALORIEEEEEES! It is a feel-good place which has been around forever. They've retained the same staff for decades who remember their customers. The food: 4.5/5 for the har-gao, generously stuffed with beautiful, fresh shrimps. Extremely delicious. Wrapper was ever so slightly thick, -05 star. 5/5 for the char-sieu cheung fan. Pork was surprisingly lean which added to the deliciousness. 5/5 for the huge "wonton" in soup, stuffed with octopus, conpoy, pork and mussels. A DELICIOUS SURPRISE. 1,000/5 for my favourite menu item the curry cuttlefish. Tender, not over-steamed, light curry flavour. Sublime. How I love Tak Fu. It warm, it's welcoming, it's loud, it's laughter, it's the sound of happiness! Reminds me of the restaurants in Kowloon. read more

Tak Fu even prices things the old-school way (by dish, no specials) with categories ranging from $5.99 (S) to $9.99 (SP). Tea's a humble $1.50 a person, softening the blow of slightly higher food prices. So, what's so special about Tak Fu? Start with the siu mai or steamed pork dumpling ($7.99). Most places pulverize the pork into springy meatballs. Not here. The pork is hand-chopped, juicy, and tender, breaking apart easily with each bite. Finely diced mushrooms add a hit of umami, while a plump shrimp crowns the top instead of being hidden inside - simple, balanced, and traditional. Then there's the har gow or De fu steamed shrimp dumpling ($8.99). The shrimp are properly cleaned and not over-tenderized, keeping their natural flavour and crunch. They're cooked just right, encased in a slightly thick but satisfyingly elastic wrapper. The steamed bean curd roll with satay sauce ($7.99) is dense and hearty... half a roll will do. Its filling leans pork-and-cabbage heavy, more like a spring roll in taste, so it's not as exciting flavour-wise but still comforting. For a contrast, the steamed rice noodle roll with fried dough in special style ($7.99). The hot, crunchy fritter wrapped in silky rice noodle is spot-on texturally, though the hoisin and sesame sauces could be thicker. Maybe they're thinned out for easier pouring? The steamed rice noodle roll with BBQ pork ($7.99) is stuffed to the gills with big chunks of meat and nothing else. Pair any rice roll with the congee with preserved egg and pork ($8.99) and you've got a hearty solo meal. The pork's properly seasoned, the preserved egg plentiful, and the texture rich and smooth. For something lighter, go for the dried scallop & seafood dumpling in soup ($8.99). It takes time, but arrives piping hot with a massive dumpling stuffed with shrimp, octopus, scallop, mushrooms, and BBQ pork - generous and satisfying. The deep-fried squid ($9.99) might just be the best I've had: crisp, tender, and barely battered. There's also plenty of it to go around. Say what you will, Tak Fu doesn't skimp on portions. Even their fried rice noodle with beef ($13.99) impresses. Sliced beef, bean sprouts, and onions get a good kiss of wok hay, and those caramelized onion bits add a hit of flavour. A solid, classic version. If you can wait half an hour, end with the steamed milk ($7.99) for dessert. Lightly sweet, perfumed with ginger, it's a silky, nostalgic treat you won't find in many places anymore. read more

Went for dim sum, arrived around 11am on a Sunday with no waiting time (a couple of tables left, only about 10-12 tables in total). Has all the dim sum basics. The har gow is good, siu mai is never really my favourite, phoenix claws are a good standard. Chicken sticky rice is okay, the flavour grew on me, but not all of the rice has soaked up the flavour yet. The ham siu gock (deep fried pork dumpling?) is really good. Crispy, just the right amount of chewy/doughy, well-filled, and tasty. The salted lava egg yolk bun is actually runny (even once it cools down). The fried squid is pretty good. The tripe is super tasty (a bit slow though). The ja lunge (fried dough stick wrapped in rice noodle) is topped with pork floss which is a nice add. Comes with soy sauce, sesame sauce, and hoisin. Ambiance is the typical, old, chinese restaurant. Other than the tripe, service is pretty quick. They try to get through tables asap (as they should). read more

A friend recommended this restaurant to try for takeout dim sum. It was very busy when we arrived, standing room only, and we waited a bit for our order. Dim sum doesn't taste that great once it's cooled, but normally after some heating up, it's passable. It pains me to say the taste of the items was extremely underwhelming, and I've had better with frozen dim sum. One person in our group had very bad food poisoning. Our order came to $101.04! Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

This is a hidden gem for dim sum, easily being missed, we came on Saturday morning, and was able to get a table immediately. The staff is very friendly and adding tea for us frequently. The food quality overall is good 4/5, steamed dim sum are fresh and goo potion, deep fried ones are excellent! So soft and crunchy, fired just right! This is a small causal place with limited seatings, reasonably priced, will come back again! read more

Cannot believe I haven't tried this place out before. Had a craving for dim sum and this place did not disappoint. It makes me so happy that it's close by. Food was packaged and priced well. If I had to choose some favourites - siu mai and the har gow were great. The rice rolls were good too! They also have a salted egg bao and it definitely had the salted egg flavour just gooing out when you open it. Not my personal favourite dim sum option but I wanted to try it out and it is really good here. Honestly everything was so good. Only thing I wouldn't order again is the stuffed taro cake. I felt like it was a bit too oily for my liking. Everything tasted great though! read more

Kind of dated, hole in the wall place in an older shopping arcade. The place had the aroma of an old HK dim sum restaurant which was a good thing. Only locals where dining in so I know this had to be pretty good, and it turned out to be one of the best dim sum places I've been to outside of HK. Highly recommend anything with shrimp as their shrimp dishes are really good. read more

Tak Fu Seafood Ratings: 4.4/5 Food: 4.75/5 - Came here on the weekend for our dim sum cravings with my boyfriend and his family. They have come here multiple times and enjoyed it. The dim sum here tastes great, price is awesome, and most importantly a lot of locals come here too, so it's solid. Please see the descriptions of the dim sum we got below for more details. - Variety of Dim Sum [GET]: We got a lot of different dishes to try out. Some of my favorites were the steamed shrimp (ha gow) and steamed pork dumplings (siu mai), radish cake, shrimp noodle rolls (ha cheung), and baby squids. The ha gow was thick, filled with shrimp and the dough was chewy and springy. Same with the steam shrimp rice rolls, it is fresh, chewy and delicious. I loved the radish cake too. It was nicely fried on the outside, but still fluffy on the inside. Lastly, the curry baby squid was tender and fresh, my first time seeing a squid dish offered at a dim sum place. They definitely did not skimp out in the ingredients and were pretty generous compared to the price point. Ambiance: 4/5 - A local mom and pop dim sum spot, kind of small but offers all the classic items. The place isn't glamours, a bit worn down, but it was clean and brightly lit. There's booth and round tables, and they are all pretty well kept and comfortable to sit on. We see mainly old ladies and old couples dining here. It was also quite empty when we arrived but do expect a short wait during peak hours! Price: 4.75/5 - The prices here are fantastic, and we appreciate how great the prices are compared to other establishments. The small dishes are $3.99, medium is $4.99, and large is $5.99 and so on, so XL is $6.99 before tax. Wonderful prices for good quality dim sum, definitely getting your bang for the buck here. Service: 4/5 - Of course you should not expect great customer service at any no-frills Asian restaurants, especially dim sum spots. However, the old lady here was actually quite nice and attentive, maybe because it was not that busy at the time. There are no carts coming around, instead you fill out the menu at the beginning, and they will bring out the food to you once it's ready. The dim sum came out super quick and fresh. BLUF: This is a good and budget friendly dim sum spot in Toronto for everyone. It is affordable and authentic here with tons of good and fresh options, so a hidden gem for sure. I highly recommend the ha gow and siu mai, and if you like those turnip / radish or taro cake, make sure to get those as well. This place is CASH only! read more

I heard about Tak Fu through social media, and although I'm often skeptical about TikTok reviews, this one hit the nail on the head. Tak Fu is an unassuming little restaurant tucked away in the corner of Markham and Scarborough, but don't let the outside fool you. The concept is straightforward - just really really good classic dim sum. The standout of the day was definitely the rice mochi dumplings. They were so soft, pillowy, and the savoury filling balanced perfectly with the slightly sweet wrapper. Service was great as well! read more

It's pretty rare for me to give 4* to any Chinese food place so buckle your seatbelts, kids. We're in for a wild ride. Came for dimsum with my dude and we ordered 8 dimsum. Pretty ridiculous because we're just two people but it was all good. Tea was iron goddess and it was average. Took about 3 refills, or maybe 2.5, to get a more palatable flavour out. The real definitive factor of a great dimsum place is their shrimp dumpling (蝦餃). It's an XL but definitely worth. The wrap looked thick but it tore easily, which is a positive. They used whole shrimps, not mashed shrimp, which increased how springy it felt to bite into it. The flavour was fresh and not overloaded with MSG. Siu mai (燒賣) was great too. Instead of roe, they had one whole shrimp on top. The meat was quite dark, but it was because it was lean pork. I know conventionally, the best type of pork for siumai is a bit of fat (ideally 50/50), but I def preferred all dark. Best deal ever is their steamed milk dessert. Portion was literally twice the amount of other places. They steam it with the lid on, not with saran wrap, so yay! Not eating toxins today! Def recommend this place. I put one star off because they asked if we could share our table with someone :( also no WiFi. But yea space was rather clean, not cramped, and generally clean (ie no bits of food stuck to stuff). read more

It's no frills dim sum that tastes good and the price is right. Make sure you order in advance and have some patience when you go in, they're a little swamped right now. I'm particularly a fan of their Siu Mai and Chiu chow fun Guo, and their deep fried beancurd roll isn't bad either. Of course it's not the same as the hustle and bustle of actual dim sum (maybe you can put on some dim sum noises up via YouTube or something to better simulate the experience), but at least you can get your fix if you're missing something! It's made to order too, not just reheated stuff from my understanding. read more

So I've been this Tak Fu twice for dine-in lunch dim sum. The first time was a couple of years ago and I haven't gone back until recently. I remember why I didn't go back during my second visit. It is because the food is okay and the dine-in is no good. The table we were seated at was dirty and not cleaned properly before we got there. Parts of the table was sticky - most likely from old grease. When I called it out with the waitress she said the stickiness was likely due to the spray they use...she basically denied any wrong doing or the cleaning spray they use is horrible. One of the dumpling steam baskets we got still had bun bits sticking to the basket from the last thing they put in it...they didn't clean the steam basket properly. I saw a worker there who I think was likely a dishwasher bringing food out from the kitchen to the servers. I think she's the dishwasher or cleaner since she had dishwashing gloves on and she brought food out! Ridiculous! I hope she didn't use those dishwashing gloves to clean anything with. Even she didn't clean with those gloves looks so bad and unsanitary to bring food out with those gloves on. The restaurant looks very messy around the cash register/counter, and by the washroom. They even use the men's washroom as a cleaning supplies storage area. Very unsightly. It is a hole in wall kind of place, needs better sanitation, and a makeover. I for sure won't be going back. This place is overrated by everyone else. Might be good for takeout but the dine-in experience is bad. read more

My favorite dim sum place! Like others mention, it's a no frills, small restaurant that offers all the dim sum classics. What I like about this spot is that the food is always fresh, hot and flavorful. It's not a traditional dim sum with the push carts but rather you fill out a sheet and then the items come to you right from the kitchen. I like this because the food is always freshly prepared for you as opposed to sitting on the carts for long periods of time. Service is pretty good, English isn't always available but we manage and prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is clean, a bit worn down but acceptable, I like that they have booths on the side but it's mostly large tables for groups. Wait time is usually not bad either, I've waited much longer at the large restaurants. This place is kind of a hidden gem and I kind of hope it stays a secret! read more

3.5 to 4 stars Came here on a busy Sunday for lunch for 4 people. Not a big waiting area. Waited 15 minutes for a table. Menu items aren't identified traditionally in English. For Canadian born Chinese like me, it was hard to figure out the staples I normally get like Haw gow, which is called de fu steamed shrimp dumpling. They have some unique items like rice noodle with preserved egg and with mushroom and pork. They also have some impressive noodle and rice lunch specials that's cheap -$7.99 for noodles and $6.99 for casserole rice but you need to read Chinese to know what to get. The quality of food is an A for me because the ingredients are plentiful. The beef roll was full of beef and very thick. I liked how they put the soya sauce on the side so we can decide how much to put. The haw gow had so much shrimp in it. Even the rice noodle with beef we got for $7.99 had a lot of meat in it. The only dish I didn't like was the mushroom and pork rice noodle. There was no mushrooms in it that I could see and the pork was overlooked. The speciality pastry was not bad. It was flakey and savoury. I loved the steamed and sweet bun. The egg yolk custard was very good, but be care of it bursting. The overall quality of this place is good! I deduct a star for the wait times. It took 10 minutes per dish. While it was fun at first to taste each piece, it took 1.5 hours to get 9 dishes that we ordered. Having said this, The servers were still attentive and refilled our tea without us having to ask. There's only one washroom for each gender so go if you must. I waited 15 minutes for the bathroom. Cash only this place. I like the food but would only come back when I have time to wait and if I brought a friend that can read Chinese or do my research first because it was hard to figure out which dishes were the traditional ones we order. read more

Dim Sum the whole day? Here at Tak Fu, you may able to order dim sum if you have cravings at odd hours.. as who said dim sum is only good for breakfast and lunch? This place is small to be a dim sum restaurant as on holidays or weekends prime lunch area, there maybe a wait. Try not to get the table in the front at this time as you might be pushed and shuffled by the waiting crowds. Prices are quite reasonable with Small ($2), Medium ($3), Large ($4) and XL ($4.80). We ended up sharing: Sweet and Creamy Bun (M) Steamed Shrimp Dumpling (M) Steamed Pork Dumpling (M) Steamed Chicken Bun with Minced Ginger (S) Beef Rice Noodle Roll (M) Speciality Pastry (L) Steamed Bean Curd Roll with Satay Sauce (M) Steamed Beef Dumpling (S) After eating all these buns and dumplings, I am definitely stuffed! Most of the dishes we ordered were quite standard, nothing too amazing. Tak Fu does serves Cantonese dishes for dinner. The dinner set are priced reasonably too. Service here is a little confusing as our orders kind of delivered to the table next to us.. But aside from that the staffs are quite friendly. It is an ok place to have dim sum in the area, but if you want to impress your date or have a more laid back experience where you can hang out and sip your tea, I would suggest you go somewhere else! read more

I love this place! I'm very happy I found this DIM SUM restaurant and I will make it my favorite place for DIM SUM. Food quality and flavor excellent. Everything is fresh and made very well, not from frozen. Every dish I try all 100% satisfied. Why isnt this place blowing up?! Its a small little hole in the wall, they make amazing dim sum! Upon entering they dont seem too busy, its definitely a different crowd here, I would say more refined lol. It is casual of course, their food prices are a little bit more costly, however you would never find yourself over ordering or worrying about portions, they do give you good bang for your buck. We ordered the classics, Siu Mai, Shrimp Salad roll, Gnao Fun, Har Fun, Low Mai Gai ( Sticky Rice w pork wrapped with leaf), Yao Yu So ( Squid tentacles), Gnao My Fun ( Fried rice noodles w beef). The highlight of our meal was that we are pleasantly surprised at how hot and fresh the food was, normally dim sum at larger venues have the food ready but it's never quite a steamy, because it was already pushed around in a cart. We chose 1 dish from the $7.99 section, the Fried Rice noodles with beef and veggies in Black Bean sauce! This dish was very good, the rice noodles were the very narrow, Singapore style noodles, they deep fried it, so the edges were crispy qnd delicious, and then topped it with the beef & sauce! Their Siu Mai, has the shrimps on top, rather than chunks inside the meat. It wasn't amazing, but it was still good. I probably wouldn't order that again, as i felt the taste not as authentic. Their Chang Fun was made beautifully, fresh, and they didn't skimp on meat or the Chang fun wrapping. The portion was quite large, and worth the prices. As usual they've got your deep fried Har Gow but this place takes that dish to a different level by offering a Deep fried Har gow roll. This was stuffed with shrimps and the Mayo they usually give as dipping sauce, this we ended up doubling up on. I think this is gonna be my new hangout! Please everyone try this place out, ! read more

This is one of my family's usual dim sum place. It usually does get super busy, as it doesn't have a lot of seating as it is a small place. However, the wait is usually 15 minutes. The pricing for the dim sum is decently priced and the portions are pretty big. It is also nice that the siu mai has a big shrimp on top of it as well. They also bring out the dim sum super quickly and their daily specials wheter rice or noodles is decent as well. Overall if you want quick dimsum for a decent price I would suggest going at a super early time or a super late time, as going right at lunch time can get super busy. read more

This my beau's and his parents' favourite dim sum place and I can see why. It is quality food for less than you would expect to pay elsewhere. Nothing feels better than food for the soul and spending time with the people you love. Nothing else is needed. Just good old comfort worth more than its cost. My beau's parents do not really eat much at their age, so the four of us only ordered 9 items to share. They were very accommodating at always and made sure that i could at least eat half of everything ordered, so I would be full enough. The decor and ambience here are both simple and down to earth, but the booths' are nicely cushioned with wooden frames. They open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., so this place clearly specializes in dim sum and they are so good at it! I love that every item we ordered was well done and rather sizeable, too. At first I was not sure if the amount of food we ordered was enough, but we ended up having leftovers for his parents to take home for snacks. The shrimp dumplings, hai gar, were all springy and the wrap were neither tough, too chewy, too thin or too thick! The fried noodle dish had plenty of bean sprouts and was not too oily either. The radish cake tasted fresh and was crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Golden egg yolk buns oozed with creamy goodness and was not too runny. The baby squids with curry sauce were plentiful, springy, and richly flavoured. The pork buns were soft and the meat was tender too. The shrimps in the shrimp noodle rolls were pretty big and again tasted fresh and springy without any need for added soy sauce. It is always a pleasant, feel good dim sum experience here. Everything satisfied my cravings. Would definitely come back and recommend this place to friends and anyone interested in eating dim sum as a comfoet Honestly, this is my favourite dim sum place for comfy chest eats! Brought my white bestie here and she loved it here, too! It is affordable and authentic here. Their shrimp dumplings (hai gao) and shrimp rice noodle rolls always have a lot of springy shrimps in them! My beau loves to order their pork buns and steam squid. Their veggie rice noodle dish is always a safe crowd pleaser, too! Good budget family food for family and friends! - Jan. 1/19 read more

Okay, I came back for dim sum. I'm definitely comfortable giving this place 3.5 stars, since their dim sum is infinite times better than their dinner. We arrived at around 2pm, and we were the only ones there by the time it was 2:30. Some of the stuff we ordered include veggie dumplings, har gow, siu mai, and two rice noodle rolls. The rice noodle rolls were probably some of the best I've ever had; it was not too thin and not too thick, and smooth as well. Everything else ranged from standard to decent. In addition, we ordered the milky custard buns, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND for every single person visiting. This is exactly how custard buns should be done: Hot (of course, cool it down before you eat it), yellow milky, and full of flavour. It was so good we ordered two dishes of it for a total of 6 buns. Service was, well, not much better than dinner, but at least we were attended to this time. Free wifi! Ask for password. read more

Came here today for dim sum. Ordered: Siu Mai, $3.30 Chicken feet, $4.30 Steamed ribs, $3.30 Rice noodle with bitter melon and chicken $8.99 Young chow fried rice $8.99 For dim sum, it is ok. The rice noodle I ordered was changed to vermicelli without telling me; the amount of bitter melon was pathetic; and pieces of chicken looked soaked in something. The fried rice was not good; no skill at all. Can't be compared to Congee Wong/Queen. Both of these $8.99 dishes were not worth ordering. The siu mai at $3.30 for 4 was justifiable. The rest... we can all leave without. Cash only. First-last time here. I prefer restos that take credit cards and remit taxes to the government. read more

We just started coming here after seeing the positive reviews and have always enjoyed our experience. Service is friendly and polite, and the food definitely hits the spot when you need a dim sum fix. We always order our favourites - har gow, siu mai, chicken feet, cheung fan, eggplant, and congee. We've had congee at many places but really like their pork and preserved egg congee, as it is chock full of egg which I love. The wrappers on their cheung fan and hargow are thin with just the right amount of chew. I enjoy their fried squid but recently discovered their squid in fish paste sauce - OMG this stuff is delicious and my new favourite! Tender squid with the slightly salty braised sauce. I told my husband I could eat just that with a bowl of rice and I would be happy. We also have ordered the deep fried crab claws which my daughter loves, but at almost $9.00 for two, it's quite expensive. Prices here are a bit more than other dim sum prices, and if you order a lot of XL items, it can definitely add up. The place isn't very big so I would recommend going at non-peak times so that you aren't cramped in the small area by the front door waiting for a table. read more

Weekend Dim Sum with Dad! New tries again. We went right at 9am when they opened. Place is very small and atomsphere was like a HK Style "Tea Meal" Diner. Ordered 11 items to try. 1. Flaky Pastry BBQ Pork Buns (Weekend Special Only) The pastry on the top is more similar to a "coconut cocktail bun" topping. The bun was really moist and fresh, with a slight crisp toast at the bottom. Pretty good! 2. Ha Gow Pretty Big had like 2 whole shrimps inside..but didn't have any bamboo shoots inside. Skin was really thin and nicely made. Taste was ok. 3. Glutinous Rice Fried Dumplings Freshly deep fried, texture was good, filling was just 1 filling, just grounded meat and a lot of sauce. 4. Lotus Wrapped Steamed Sticky Rice. Taste was there in the filling, but the rice itself was a little bland. 5. Shrimp Steamed Rice Rolls The Rice rolls were really smooth and texture was excellent. BUT...I found a piece of hair inside...I know it happens sometimes...but I was pretty grossed out after that...(didn't point it out..just didn't eat that piece, still wanted the rest of the food to come untampered lol) 6. Steamed Dumplings with Pork & Peanuts Again the texture of the skin was really well made, but the filling in this one was mostly radish and hardly any pork pieces at all. Taste was ok. 7. Chicken Steamed Buns They were really fluffy, fillings was great and taste great! 8. Speciality Pastries It was basically a flat round flaky pastry, topped with lots of sesame seeds, and filled with the same pork filling as the Glutinous Rice Fried Dumplings. It was good, nice flakiness, pipping hot, and just enough seasoning. 9. Fishballs with Special Sauce Deeped fried dace fishballs with a mini clam fermented tofu sauce. Freshly fried and very moist and flavourful. But the mixture inside was not throughly mixed. Some balls had more cilantro in it than others. 10. Siu Mai Pretty huge and a jumbo shrimp on top. Inside the pork there was also mushrooms pieces. Was pretty tasty and good. 11. Sticky Fried Rice with Preserved Meats It kinda looked like a mess on a plate. It was the last item and it looked like it was just plopped on a plate and 3 pieces of preserved meats on top. Taste was not bad..the rice was well cooked. But there was hardly anything in it..just little flecks of Chinese Sausages, 1 thin slice on top, 1 thin slice of pork liver sausage, and 1 thin slice of preserved pork, all on top. Didn't finished the fried sticky rice so asked for a pack away box. The pack away box was not really clean..there was stain at the edge and a particle in the middle...asked for a new one...but I wasn't sure if she just went in and wiped it :'( Service was pretty pleasant, despite the minor issues. That's if for now folks! read more

Been here with my family consistently almost every week for the past month. Great food and great service. Can see that it's getting more hype and the restaurant is very busy even before 12 on weekends. Always call ahead if you're sure to visit at a certain time. Dishes are great for eat-in and stir fries are available for take out as well! Sharing some of my recommendations: Steamed "fun guo" - translucent dumpling filled with minced meat, arrowroot pieces, preserved veggie and peanuts. Dumpling wrapper is bouncy but not thick. Great quality. Fried taro dumpling - crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside. Squid tentacles - hot and fresh and not too salty Vegetarian rice rolls - imitation "chicken" with fried tofu pieces. Light and fluffy, not overseasoned Preserved meat mini rice pot - great value for price. Good amount of meat and rice. Good for eat-in and takeout Grilled beef ribs - favourite of little kids and adults. Comes with shrimp chips. Haven't had any disappointing dishes so far. The only downside is the restaurant is small, so seating might not be as comfortable as other spacious dimsum restaurants. Some items might take a little longer than others, but if you speak to the boss (lady) she'll ensure your order gets through. read more

One word: Refreshing. i guess this isn't really the suitable word for dimsum but tell me it isn't so when I can speak straight english and get understood. I had been excited to try this place since I found it in Yelp, reading the reviews I had been hounding the MISTER to take me here. He finally did and very GLAD that the placed lived up to their 5 star reviews even at the fact that my expectations were already raised up which rarely happens! It's the second unit from the strip of businesses in the plaza adjacent to No Frills in Silverstar, it's easy to miss considering their signage is in red and yellow with Bold Chinese characters, the english name TakFu was probably a small insert on the bottom. Compared to other Dimsum places Tak Fu is considerably cozy in comparison which was GREAT. Some would say its a hole in a wall (compared to other dimsum definitely) but its a little bigger than that...on a fine Sunday morning this placed had some tables occupied with their patron and few families but there was enough tables for us and even for a crowd. A refreshing change from waiting the long line up, very busy and bigger dimsum places. We felt well received and service was wonderful. Quick and tasty just as dimsum should be. Quality is a word I would describe their food, the space may be smaller than the others but their shrimps are bigger and tastier than the rest. Having tried several dimsum places siumai , Shrimp Dumpling (hargow), chicken feet becomes a blur. They start to taste the same at some point but this place actually have a little distinct taste that sets it different from the usual. The taste is more subtle, they pay more attention to the detail of the dish, bringing out the flavour of the main ingredient rather than just salty. The Fried Tentacles were definitely easier on the teeth. My son loves them. The Seafood ingredients that they use were clearly prepared well, no chlorine smell here. I'm sorry I couldn't go into more detail to what I mean by subtle, I would probably need to eat more of it LOL...but I suggest going this place try and just enjoy a comfortable, more peaceful morning having dimsum. Small note: Pork Ribs , right flavor but a little tough on the teeth read more

Tak fu is an absolute hidden gem for dim sum! I didn't expect anything from this hole in the wall kind of restaurant and was very impressed by the end of it. This was one of the better, if not the best, recent dim sum I have had in the past while. I'm definitely going to make this my go to dim sum place. Ordering is through a simple sheet with English also on it. Everything was hot and flavourful and all the items we ordered tasted at least average or better. You can probably tell from the images the food is dark in colour and hence more of the items are richer in flavour compared to other dim sum places. Favourites included the char siu pastry bun, the custard buns, and the curried squid, but everything was excellent. Pricing was extremely reasonable (totalled around $60 for 13 items) and service is of your typical Chinese restaurant, so no real complaints with fast and efficient service. read more

My go-to dimsum place. I come here every time I have a dimsum craving, even in the evening - just ask for the dimsum sheet! Prices are fair and there's something for everyone. The salted fish & chicken fried rice here is one of the best in town, spare ribs, deep fried savory triangle, shrimp roll with salad dressing, custard bun are all great too! read more

4.5 stars. Went here for dim sum today and I will definitely come back. This place is very small and quite clean. It reminds me of the nosy dim sum places in Hong Kong. I love how the items are made to order (er, steamed to order). You can tell the food quality is higher and not oily. We had mostly the standard items, har gao, siu mai, bbq pork cheung fun, spareribs rice, chiu chou dumplings, mushroom dumpling, radish cake and spring rolls (yes, I love me some spring rolls). No complaints about the food. The bbq pork Cheung fun is worth mentioning since it was that good. The rice noodles is very silky and not sticky. I haven't had cheung fun this good in a very long time. The hao gao is also pretty good as it is quite big and it has good shrimp taste. A lot of places I go to just doesn't have that good ol' shrimp flavor in them. The spring rolls didn't look that good to me, but it tasted really good. They didn't charge us for tea, probably because of they forgot one of my items. If you don't like long line ups, come at an odd hour or come earlier. I highly recommend this place for anyone that enjoys high quality dim for a reasonable price. I'm not sure what time they open, but they close at 1 am! read more

My favourite dim sum place to go to now! The food is delicious and fresh. Staff are very friendly and nice. Service is great as well. It's a very homey type of dim sum restaurant. 1. Loved the beef cheung fun. Very smooth and silky. The meat was flavorful and also smooth. Chicken feet was flavorful as well with lots of sauce. 2. Minced beef balls were also delicious and the vinegar sauce is a tad thicker than normal but nonetheless still delicious. 3. Curry cuttlefish had a lot of flavour and did not taste sand as I would normally do at other dim sum restaurants 4. Fried taro was delicious This place has stole my heart for dim sum and I definitely will be back! read more

The first impression of the restaurant was not so good due to the outdated decorations and terrible furniture placement. But the waitress and waiters are fairly friendly and introduce every dishes you ordered when they bring it to you. Which is truly a plus cause they know what they sell. It's a family restaurant and only sell dim sum. They do have few special ones that you won't be able to eat in other places. The ingredients they use and the techniques of making dim sum are five stars for sure. I would recommend to come here if you are addicted to truly Hong Kong style dim sum, they do not sell any fusion ones. Also come here early to make sure you have higher chance to get a booth not end up sharing tables. read more
