Dimsum was okay with authentic Cantonese flavor. Not the best comfy seats but the food wasn't bad at all. Small: $4.99 Medium: $5.99 Large: 6.99 Tea: $2.00 Weekends 9AM - 4PM Weekdays 10AM - 4PM Opens 7 days a week!

This is a hidden gem for dim sum, easily being missed, we came on Saturday morning, and was able to get a table immediately. The staff is very friendly and adding tea for us frequently. The food quality overall is good 4/5, steamed dim sum are fresh and goo potion, deep fried ones are excellent! So soft and crunchy, fired just right! This is a small causal place with limited seatings, reasonably priced, will come back again!

Cannot believe I haven't tried this place out before. Had a craving for dim sum and this place did not disappoint. It makes me so happy that it's close by. Food was packaged and priced well. If I had to choose some favourites - siu mai and the har gow were great. The rice rolls were good too! They also have a salted egg bao and it definitely had the salted egg flavour just gooing out when you open it. Not my personal favourite dim sum option but I wanted to try it out and it is really good here. Honestly everything was so good. Only thing I wouldn't order again is the stuffed taro cake. I felt like it was a bit too oily for my liking. Everything tasted great though!

Kind of dated, hole in the wall place in an older shopping arcade. The place had the aroma of an old HK dim sum restaurant which was a good thing. Only locals where dining in so I know this had to be pretty good, and it turned out to be one of the best dim sum places I've been to outside of HK. Highly recommend anything with shrimp as their shrimp dishes are really good.

Tak Fu Seafood Ratings: 4.4/5 Food: 4.75/5 - Came here on the weekend for our dim sum cravings with my boyfriend and his family. They have come here multiple times and enjoyed it. The dim sum here tastes great, price is awesome, and most importantly a lot of locals come here too, so it's solid. Please see the descriptions of the dim sum we got below for more details. - Variety of Dim Sum [GET]: We got a lot of different dishes to try out. Some of my favorites were the steamed shrimp (ha gow) and steamed pork dumplings (siu mai), radish cake, shrimp noodle rolls (ha cheung), and baby squids. The ha gow was thick, filled with shrimp and the dough was chewy and springy. Same with the steam shrimp rice rolls, it is fresh, chewy and delicious. I loved the radish cake too. It was nicely fried on the outside, but still fluffy on the inside. Lastly, the curry baby squid was tender and fresh, my first time seeing a squid dish offered at a dim sum place. They definitely did not skimp out in the ingredients and were pretty generous compared to the price point. Ambiance: 4/5 - A local mom and pop dim sum spot, kind of small but offers all the classic items. The place isn't glamours, a bit worn down, but it was clean and brightly lit. There's booth and round tables, and they are all pretty well kept and comfortable to sit on. We see mainly old ladies and old couples dining here. It was also quite empty when we arrived but do expect a short wait during peak hours! Price: 4.75/5 - The prices here are fantastic, and we appreciate how great the prices are compared to other establishments. The small dishes are $3.99, medium is $4.99, and large is $5.99 and so on, so XL is $6.99 before tax. Wonderful prices for good quality dim sum, definitely getting your bang for the buck here. Service: 4/5 - Of course you should not expect great customer service at any no-frills Asian restaurants, especially dim sum spots. However, the old lady here was actually quite nice and attentive, maybe because it was not that busy at the time. There are no carts coming around, instead you fill out the menu at the beginning, and they will bring out the food to you once it's ready. The dim sum came out super quick and fresh. BLUF: This is a good and budget friendly dim sum spot in Toronto for everyone. It is affordable and authentic here with tons of good and fresh options, so a hidden gem for sure. I highly recommend the ha gow and siu mai, and if you like those turnip / radish or taro cake, make sure to get those as well. This place is CASH only!

A hidden gem. Very good food, and more importantly. Prices just right. I appreciate how they didn't Jack prices up like the other greedy establishments.

The dimsum here is good, we loved the Ham Siu Kok & the Congee. The only drawback is that there's too few seating, but with the amount we ordered, the dimsum here is super comparatively to other dimsum places.

蝦餃 shrimp dumplings were super on point. Skin was not too thick, easy to tear. Shrimp was quite springy and portions were great.

It's pretty rare for me to give 4* to any Chinese food place so buckle your seatbelts, kids. We're in for a wild ride. Came for dimsum with my dude and we ordered 8 dimsum. Pretty ridiculous because we're just two people but it was all good. Tea was iron goddess and it was average. Took about 3 refills, or maybe 2.5, to get a more palatable flavour out. The real definitive factor of a great dimsum place is their shrimp dumpling (蝦餃). It's an XL but definitely worth. The wrap looked thick but it tore easily, which is a positive. They used whole shrimps, not mashed shrimp, which increased how springy it felt to bite into it. The flavour was fresh and not overloaded with MSG. Siu mai (燒賣) was great too. Instead of roe, they had one whole shrimp on top. The meat was quite dark, but it was because it was lean pork. I know conventionally, the best type of pork for siumai is a bit of fat (ideally 50/50), but I def preferred all dark. Best deal ever is their steamed milk dessert. Portion was literally twice the amount of other places. They steam it with the lid on, not with saran wrap, so yay! Not eating toxins today! Def recommend this place. I put one star off because they asked if we could share our table with someone :( also no WiFi. But yea space was rather clean, not cramped, and generally clean (ie no bits of food stuck to stuff).

Assorted dim sum takeout

It's no frills dim sum that tastes good and the price is right. Make sure you order in advance and have some patience when you go in, they're a little swamped right now. I'm particularly a fan of their Siu Mai and Chiu chow fun Guo, and their deep fried beancurd roll isn't bad either. Of course it's not the same as the hustle and bustle of actual dim sum (maybe you can put on some dim sum noises up via YouTube or something to better simulate the experience), but at least you can get your fix if you're missing something! It's made to order too, not just reheated stuff from my understanding.

A bit expensive. Ordered takeout but everything tasted pretty good. Would recommend the usual har gow but also the turnip cake and the chicken feet and the taro fried dumplings. Delivery was quick but the food takeout was delayed a bit.

Haw Gow Called De Fu Steamed Shrimp Dumpling on the menu

3.5 to 4 stars Came here on a busy Sunday for lunch for 4 people. Not a big waiting area. Waited 15 minutes for a table. Menu items aren't identified traditionally in English. For Canadian born Chinese like me, it was hard to figure out the staples I normally get like Haw gow, which is called de fu steamed shrimp dumpling. They have some unique items like rice noodle with preserved egg and with mushroom and pork. They also have some impressive noodle and rice lunch specials that's cheap -$7.99 for noodles and $6.99 for casserole rice but you need to read Chinese to know what to get. The quality of food is an A for me because the ingredients are plentiful. The beef roll was full of beef and very thick. I liked how they put the soya sauce on the side so we can decide how much to put. The haw gow had so much shrimp in it. Even the rice noodle with beef we got for $7.99 had a lot of meat in it. The only dish I didn't like was the mushroom and pork rice noodle. There was no mushrooms in it that I could see and the pork was overlooked. The speciality pastry was not bad. It was flakey and savoury. I loved the steamed and sweet bun. The egg yolk custard was very good, but be care of it bursting. The overall quality of this place is good! I deduct a star for the wait times. It took 10 minutes per dish. While it was fun at first to taste each piece, it took 1.5 hours to get 9 dishes that we ordered. Having said this, The servers were still attentive and refilled our tea without us having to ask. There's only one washroom for each gender so go if you must. I waited 15 minutes for the bathroom. Cash only this place. I like the food but would only come back when I have time to wait and if I brought a friend that can read Chinese or do my research first because it was hard to figure out which dishes were the traditional ones we order.

A no frills dimsum restaurant for anytime yumcha pleasure that's next to an actual No Frills. You go in, you are seated, given a checkbox menu, order your small, medium, large, and special dishes, and voila, you are served promptly. Not all the dishes are great (the chicken feet i find lacking, and the claypot rice was a bit burnt), but if you just want to eat quick dimsum food, this is a great place to go.

Really homey environment. Bo lay tea was the highlight of this trip. Visually very appealing but not a lot of flavor.

Behind its unassuming exterior lies a dining room of quiet sophistication: modern, luminous interiors with tasteful appointments that signal immediately this is no ordinary Cantonese restaurant. The dim sum programme is where Moon Palace truly distinguishes itself. Each piece arrives with a precision and generosity of filling that speaks to genuine kitchen pride -- plump dumplings, impeccably fresh shrimp, and roasted meats that carry an unmistakable depth of flavour reminiscent of Hong Kong's finest teahouses. The quality of ingredients is evident in every bite; nothing here feels like an afterthought. What deserves particular commendation is the consistency. Over multiple visits, the standard has never wavered -- a hallmark of disciplined kitchen craft that is rarer than it should be. In a neighbourhood saturated with tourist-facing options, Moon Palace maintains an unwavering commitment to authenticity and refinement. Service is attentive and gracious without being intrusive, contributing to an atmosphere that invites one to linger. I have recommended Moon Palace to friends and colleagues without hesitation, and will continue to do so. A polished gem in downtown Toronto's culinary landscape.

Food 4/5 Service 4/5…read moreAmbiance 4/5 Food: I came here for a lunar New Year lunch with some co-workers. They chose the menu which was a combo deal. There were so many dishes I started losing track. LOL. I also don't know all the names of the dishes as I didn't see the menu. One of the dishes was a fried lobster. They showed the lobster to us (poor lobster) before cooking it. The lobster tasted really good but I'm not used to handling lobster in its shell. LOL. There was a pumpkin soup which I couldn't eat since it had dairy in it. Another dish was a Peking duck with rice paper wraps, cucumber & green onions. This was my favourite dish. Delicious, yummy & simple to eat. Another dish was chicken (I didn't taste that one). We also had a fried rice which was so yummy. Then there was a dish with scallops, oysters, pork & seaweed surrounding it. I tried the scallops & they were delicious. There was another duck dish but this time the duck was chopped into little pieces with some Dessert was a yogurt / jelly type of thing which I can't eat due to my dairy intolerance. Service was really great. I'm not sure if that's because I was at a table full of Chinese people though. LOL. The dishes came quickly & they just kept coming! We had tiny plates to eat from so after the lobster we got clean plates. For the fried rice we had the servers separate it into bowls for everyone. Since we couldn't finish all the food we had them wrap up the leftovers & we took it back with us. Myself & another co-worker split up the leftovers between us since no one else wanted it. Ambiance: The restaurant had some nice lunar new year decorations up. It was pretty. Located inside the Atrium on the Bay this is an easy location to get to. The location was the site of a former restaurant called Spring Rolls. It still looks the same the only thing that changed were the tables & chairs. The washrooms are downstairs in the lowest level of the restaurant. It was hard for me to get down there because my knees are really stiff & painful. It would've been nice if they had a handicap washroom on the main level. The food was delicious & service was attentive. I thought the special lunar new year meal we chose was too much food for six people. I would've been happy with dim sum. Also the washrooms being in the basement was an inconvenience for me. Those who are mobility challenged will have the same issue.

Both times were for lunch, and there was a large party both times. It was also a treat for me to show for the first time my Texas-based niece and nephew one of my favourite Chinatown places in Toronto. We were seated very quickly, despite the lunch rush. Very clean tables and floors, and a well-lit area. Since there were eight of us, we got the round table with a lazy Susan. We started with the chicken and corn soup, which heated us up quickly on a chilly January day. Then the dim sun arrived in numbers, from the delectable Har Gow, the scrumptious Siu Mai, the tasty deep-fried squid tentacles, the texture of the curried cuttlefish, and the interesting mouth-feel of chicken feet. Sizzling plates of beef in black bean sauce and shrimp/scallops in a Szechuan sauce were just epic, arriving to the table in a scathing aroma that made my mouth water. We had to balance all that great protein with some savoury Gai Lan, sautéed in garlic. All in all, we arrived in cold spirits, but left with full bellies! Thanks for showing my niece and nephew one of the best establishments on Spadina!

When they provided with a table it was right next to an exterior door, with people going in and out. The was a cold draft, we even had to tell the hostess/manager, if they could provide a divider to divert the draft from hitting our table. We ordered 9 dim sum dishes, one be Roasted Pig Mixed Cold Jellyfish, which was $23.80. I had the idea that it would be a fair portion. When it came, I was shocked, it was only 6 pieces of Roasted Pig. When I spoke with the manager about the portion size, he commented "for that price it is fair". There was not apologies and walked away, nor was it written on the menu. If I had known it was only 6 pieces (size of your index and middle finger put together). I would not have ordered it. If you want to have Roasted Pig, you can get better deals else where. Also, ordered Marinated Chicken Feet for $13.98, when it came to table, it was also a disappointment, part of the chicken feet was dark in colour, not even sure if it was even edible or not. Another dim sum dish that I have order was the steamed chicken with fish maw. The chicken was okay, but there was only two small pieces of fish maw, (the size of each piece was 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch). The order 6 dim sum dishes that was order was mediocre, tasted better from other Dim Sum restaurant. When I received the bill for the meal it came out to be $119.50, they even had included the tip. They didn't even give me an option weather a tip was even worthy. I will definitely not be returning to this place. I definitely do not recommend anyone to come to this restaurant. I would consider blacklisting this restaurant. It's simply deceiving customers.

The individual New Century slow boiled soup is hardest to share but secure some empty bowls and you can divide the hefty portion. In the winter, there's a silkiness to the piping hot consommé that sooths a dry throat and has an umami essence infused with abalone, ginseng, and pork. There's plenty to choose from in the house signature combo platter including roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, BBQ pork, pork slices, and seaweed salad. Saving my stomach for the later dishes, I had a taste of the duck (a good start with crispy skin) and BBQ pork (satisfactory and well flavoured). With the generous portion of chicken in the combo platter, the slow cooked chicken with abalone broth seemed like overkill. I've never been a huge fan of this dish that's served cold since I prefer chicken hot. Still, I understand it's the jelly layer between the skin and meat that people enjoy. And to be fair, the chicken was tender, and New Century certainly didn't skimp on the ginger and scallion oil. For those who tend to fill-up before the "main dishes", the stars of the combo arrive mid-meal. The stir-fried Vancouver crabs with silver fish in HK style spicy sauce needs to be eaten at arrival as the crunchy coating is best straight from the fryer. And despite not looking spicy, the dish has a light heat that permeates in the background. Additionally, the crab was fresh and meaty, cooked well so it remained delicately flakey. The amount of sweet and sticky sauce used in the stir-fried lobsters with scallion in Maggie sauce was well balanced, lightly covering the crustaceans. Both lobsters were substantial; even after eating many pieces, we still had plenty of leftovers. This is a long review head to Gastro World for the rest.
