One of my favorite fish noodle places. They offer a healthier grains noodle, in a rich fish broth soup. The soup is silky, milky and full of fish flavours. If you're not a fan of natural fish flavours, this might not be the spot for you. But for me, I love the fullness of the soup, and how all the flavours provide a hearty and comforting meal. They also have tomato base, spicy or other options if you're not a fan of fish, but my favorite is probably the original fish broth base. It comes with pieces of white fish. You can also switch it up and have it come with other ingredients such as fish tofu, or brisket. Definitely recommend to come try. There is a bit of a wait often when I come on the weekend but service is quick and speedy, in a typical hk-Asian style. The space is also a converted house so the layout is a bit odd and a bit hot in some corners, but manageable. All noodle orders come with one extra noodle refill, which was a nice bonus. The bowls look large, but they're fairly shallow. This was shared between 3 people though. The spicy pumpkin broth is made with their original fish and pork bone base. I didn't get much pumpkin flavour, and honestly, I wasn't a big fan of the broth overall. It had a bit of spice, but there wasn't anything particularly memorable about it. My bowl came with sliced grouper, bean curd, pickled mustard, tofu, and my chosen toppings were sliced grouper, beef brisket, and fish tofu. You can also add tiger shrimp and mussels for an extra $2. The noodles are made with five different grains, giving them different colours and a nice chewy texture. The hk styled curry beef brisket was average. The brisket itself was tender and came with potatoes and onions, but it wasn't anything that stood out. One thing I wasn't a fan of was how warm it was inside the restaurant. It didn't seem like there was any air conditioning, only a few fans, and there wasn't much air circulation. It made the dining experience less enjoyable, especially when eating a hot and spicy bowl of noodle soup in warm weather. Overall, I thought it was just okay. I came here around 6pm on a Sunday and the place was really busy! A very unique setting because it's inside a house. There is seating on both sides of the house and upstairs. Aptly named, this restaurant specializes in grain noodles & fish soup. The menu is small and almost everyone comes for the fish noodle soup - so comforting and perfect on a cold winter day. This restaurant is a converted house, so the interior is quite unique (like stepping into someone's living room). The inside is always packed and crowded, and the distances between tables are quite small - so it can feel cramped and loud. We tried the Original Fish Soup (their most popular and signature item), Tomato Fish Soup, and the boiled vegetables (yu choy sum). Every bowl of noodle soup came in a very LARGE bowl (big portion size!), enough to feed 2 people... with plenty of grouper fish fillet, tofu, noodles, and a little bit of vegetables (Napa cabbage). The Original Fish Soup was very flavourful, comforting, and they were generous with the amount of fish in the bowl. I loved that they mixed 3 different types of grain noodles - my favourite was the dark grey one (buckwheat, I think?). The Tomato Fish Soup had the exact same ingredients as the Original Fish Soup, except the broth was a tomato soup broth. It tasted just like a typical tomato soup. Between the two, I preferred the original. Boiled vegetables consisted of yu choy sum - a bit too soft to my liking, wish they were more firm and crispier. They were able to put the oyster sauce on the side / have them without the sauce, which was great. Service was speedy. They have a private parking lot with more parking spots at the back of the house. Turnover of the tables is very fast. If the restaurant is fully packed, usually you don't have to wait long until a table becomes available (fast service, food comes out fast, and the guests all seem to eat fast too). read more

One of the best fish broth noodles I have had! They use grouper instead of the usual cheaper fish like tilapia, which makes a big difference. If you're really hungry you can ask for an extra bowl of noodles free of charge. Made the mistake of ordering their fried Garoupa with potato salad. The fish was not garoupa, i think it was cheap basa, and their potato salad tasted exactly like the Costco potato salad I bought last week. The choy sum was way overcooked to the point of green mush. Their saving grace was the fish noodle soup, plenty of fish, extra noodles if needed and the fish broth was on point. You have to walk past the Dairy Queen located on kennedy x 14th Ave. They are famous for the fish soup 5 grains noodles with a kick of spice. It's different from the suancai fish style. First is the grouper fish filets in our Original and Signature bowls. They're really nice and perfectly salted. A step above the fish filets in Deer Gardens's noodle soups (which are also good) Second is the different types of noodles in every bite. The combined resulting texture gives an interesting mouth feel. You also get a stamp card with a point earned on every $10 spent. 10 stamps = a free snack. Snacks on the menu look pretty good to try. Grains Fish Noodles take over the short lived Tea Era location right behind Dairy Queen's on Kennedy and 14th. They are still at their grand opening stage where you get 10% discount by paying with cash. Their signature fish broth was cooked with giant grouper and it was so delicious! Their colourful noodles are fun to eat as they are made from different grains. You'd find the texture a little bit more Al dente for that reason. The place also offer different broth options like house special broth (strong white pepper flavour), tomatoes, pumpkin and hot and sour. Although the portion is big, they offer a one-time free noodles refill after you're finished. I do find Toppings for the noodles a bit limiting as you don't get to customize to your liking. The fish pieces that came in the noodles soup was very tenderly fresh and not at all fishy. They don't immediately fall apart as soon as you pick them up. I also tried their French toast cubes! And they were also delicious. What I like about is that they made them just Crispy at the outside and soft on the inside which makes them less filling (in a good way). You don't feel like you're stuffing yourself with carbs towards the end. I'll come back again to try their spicy broth next as it looks promising. read more
