Came right at opening for breakfast. Service was friendly and prompt. Tables are small and tightly packed. But the space is bright and warm. Right at the door, there was a small table with MIRROR fan memorabilia -- mostly for KT. Food was good. I tried the preserved vegetables and shredded pork soup vermicelli. It was a nice, warming dish. Good portion. The HK style milk tea was decent too. Milky and didn't need sugar. During Chinese New year, there were various promotions based on a minimum spend!

TLDR - Food 3 stars; service and ambiance adds 1 star. Total overall 4 stars. As far as Hong Kong diner goes, Cha Kee excels in ambiance and services. The decor is contemporary, calming and pleasant to the eyes. During a visit on a Sunday afternoon, I counted that there were 4 wait staffs on floor plus a busperson. This was a high ratio of servers to tables/customers and no doubt contributed to the fast, effective and courteous services. Food wise, the baked pork chops rice had a nicely fried pork chop. Unfortunately, it had white rice not seasoned rice. The saving of this one step diminished the overall flavor. The sauce was less creamy/cheesy than my liking. The stirred fried udon was al dente. The flavoring was flat; it needed some herbs/fragrant ingredients to jazz it up. The total portion of the two dishes were sufficient to feed 3 adults of average appetite. I enjoyed the overall dining experience, but because of the white rice in the baked pork chop dish, I couldn't give the food a full 5-star rating. The udon dish didn't help. IMHO, food is average at 3 stars. The exceptional services and ambiance (for a HK cafe) adds 1 star. Total overall is 4 stars.

Homey comfort food for me. It is clean and have standard comfy food for me like baked pork chop with rice. I like green onion on pork chop with scrambled eggs with rice. Lunch comes with Hong Kong milk tea or coffee. The tea complete the meal. Price is right. Server is pretty efficient. Serve fast. Lots of parking in that mall. Good for student to have lunch.

Haven't been here for some time and it's still able to maintain its quality. It's still a very good HK-style cafe in Markham. The servers are still above and beyond. Great attentiveness and good manners. They're very nice to families with small kids. The milk tea is simply spectacular. Well-balanced tea flavor, sweetness, and temperature. Better than a lot of HK-style cafes in the area. The food is also tasty with very good value. It's usually busy during lunch hours with a short line but it moves quickly. So, it's manageable. Quick and easy meal with great servers. Highly recommended!

Afternoon tea is from 3-6pm, but same menu with 10% off with cash. Curry beef brisket with instant noodles was perfect for me. No soup, just curry sauce. Flavourful, some pieces were more chewy than others though. Has that chewy lining as well (which I like). Potatoes surprisingly didn't absorb the sauce. I would get it again though. Pork chop with scrambled egg on was pretty good. Pan fried crispy pork, "slippery" egg, and lots of green onion oil sauce. Hk style toast (not cut up version) looked really promising. Panko flakes for the crispy look, but unfortunately wasn't crispy. Fluffy bread on the inside, but not enough peanut butter inside. Would not get again. Will try the cut up version next time. Hot milk tea was pretty standard (good). The cold one was tasty. Got the yin yang cold too, and very tasty. Reminded me of vietnamese coffee. You have to pay extra for the other drinks that are usually complimentary, but no surcharge for cold versions. It's a spacious restaurant. Went at 3pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy. Staff is attentive and friendly.

4.5/5 We visited again. I really enjoyed the Hong Kong vibe and efficiency here. It's full of HK customers on Good Friday morning, but we didn't wait long to get our seats. Food and milk tea were served hot, foods were fresh and delicious. Despite being busy, all servers were enthusiastic, polite and attentive.

A classic Hong Kong cafe with all your classic dishes. Great bang for your buck also! Came here on a busy Saturday and managed to snag a table for 8 people. Service is fast paced and almost all the food items come with a drink. You have your classic beef brisket noodles, or satay egg on rice which are great. Make sure to get the mini peanut butter, condensed milk toast for sharing. It's already cut up for you and are super crispy, sweet and delicious. Chicken wings are also a great app to start with. The most classic baked chicken tomato on rice was a 10/10. A tip, make sure to ask for your drink in a to go cup so that you can take it with you once you're done your meal. I love coming to this location as it serves delicious food, is super fast and service is great!

The HK café quickly jump to the top of my list with the great reviews and proximity to my home. Their menus boast some interesting items and has an interesting concept of afternoon tea. Their afternoon tea is the standard hours 330 - 530 on weekdays, but instead of having a menu with reduced price, everything is 10% off with cash. You have the option of hot or cold hk tea (at no extra cost) and best of all food comes out relatively quickly! Pork chop and eggs on rice - Ginger scallion sauce on pork chops is an interesting concept, but I've since realized its quite common in some asian countries. The dish as a whole was a bit bland, I think they relied on the GS sauce to give it the flavour, but it was missing seasoning. It could be good if you're enjoy the lighter tastes. The pork chop was seared well and was pretty sizable. The scrambled eggs was cooked perfectly, good ratio of solids and liquid to give it the silky texture. All in all, good dish just missing some flavour. Curry beef brisket with instant noodles - Another dish that we don't see often is instant noodles (without soup) with curry beef brisket. This allows the instant noodles to carry the curry flavour. The curry itself was very spice forward. The beef briskets were fatty and tender and worked well with the curry. This was a good item and would recommend. French toast - There are two options for the French toast: Panko crusted French toast or French toast bites. I would consider both cheat codes to getting more crispiness to each bite. We opted for the panko crusted French toast, but the additional bread crumbs made the toast dry and heavy. They also gave us a small container of syrup that was not enough for the plate, I suspect they wouldn't hesitate to give more but... Might try the French toast bites and ask for more syrup. HK milk tea (hot & cold) - The hot milk tea had lots of tea flavour, it wasn't my favourite tea, but it was a good mix of tea and milkiness. The cold had sugar pre-loaded into the drink. It was tasty, but I don't want to know how much sugar they put into it. A refreshing change from the HK café in the surrounding area, will come back and try some other dishes.

I came here on a Sunday early afternoon, we waited about 20 minutes for a table. The service was good and the food came quickly. I had the satay vermicelli and egg toast. Both hit the spot and was very tasty. The French toast was so well coated and fluffy. All three items came with a drink (hot or cold). I had the Hong Kong milk tea (cold) which was strong, and in a surprisingly big cup. I got the third drink in a to-go cup. The bill came to around $40 for two people.

Nice cha chan teng spot. Came here on a Thursday around lunchtime and it was packed. They have the kiosk where you input how many people your table is and your phone number so they'll just text you when the table is ready. Not a bad wait time probably ~15 minutes for 5 or so tables in front of us. They have your typical HK style selection with some twists like the pineapple bun burgers which were a bit too adventurous for me to try. Ended up going with the classic Spaghetti Bolognese, which, on Thursdays is the special of the day at 11.99 as opposed to 13.99. All the items (except for a select few on the menu) come with a hot OR cold drink. Most places charge at extra 0.75-1 for an upgrade to a cold drink so its nice to see that there isn't that surcharge here. The spaghetti was pretty good, good portions too but I don't think I've ever really been disappointed at this dish since its a staple at HK cha chan tengs. We were also told there's a cash discount of 10% between 3-6pm if dining in. Overall pretty decent, good second location to accompany the one up at Hwy 7 and West Beaver Creek.

HK Cafe | Second location | Online or phone ordering | Cash or Debit *Open and 10% discount for take out* *Special take out menu during COVID-19* Opened their second location during the pandemic, serving delicious classic Hong Kong style café food. Order from their website on chakeerestaurant.com Be sure to choose the right location. You have the option to pay via their website or pay in store. You may also choose a pick up time. You can also order on the phone with them. Take out service: Upon arrival, although they are not fully renovated due to the pandemic, their restaurant is clean and tidy, staff is fully equipped and understands social distancing and sanitization rules. They have also posted notices from the government in regards to these regulations. There are many reminders to raise awareness for social distancing. Hand sanitizer is also available at the pick up table. Right as we entered, all the staff greater us with hospitality and professionalism. Their service was just as wonderful as their Richmond Hill location. Take out food quality: I had ordered via their website for 3 combo items to be paid in store. The food was packaged nice and neatly. The food was still super hot when I received it. The drinks were made on the spot upon arrival (I had ordered some iced drinks too). 焗豬扒飯 Signature Baked Tomato Pork Chop Rice - Classic great taste, meat was tender, sauce was good. AD01 $12 99 黯然銷魂飯 - Pan-Fried Pork Party w/ Sunny Side Up Egg on Rice - Very interesting fusion concept. To be honest I didn't know what to expect when I received it as there were no description on their website. But when I picked up my food in store I had picked up their paper menu too and on that they're were English translation. It was good but not as enticing as other traditional dishes. AD10 $10.99 咖哩牛腩意粉 Curry Beef Brisket on Spaghetti (changed from rice) - I had changed my rice to spaghetti. Delicious taste. Still hot when I picked it up. Briskets were tender. I like things super saucy so for me, this could use a bit more sauce. AD03 $13.99 Take Out Drinks: Cold Lemon Ice Tea & Hot Coffee/Tea - Classic good taste Overall, I'd definitely return (especially when they're right in my neighborhood) for some HK café dishes. Wonderful service, good food. Support local business!

Still the best in town. Great food and staff is very polite. AD18: great and yummy curry One of the Chicken Steak dish had so much sauce that the sauce spilled onto the table when I was cutting up the chicken. Someone immediate came to wipe up the sauce...awesome customer service and very attentive staff!!!

Its at the Langham Square plaza area not far from the Kennedy plaza on south of Hwy 7 Kennedy area. Here is what we ordered: Pineapple Bun w/Butter- $7.95 comes with hot drink Cheung Fun Noodles w/ Siu Mai Fish & fishball I believe- $9.45 with hot drink. Hainese Chicken w/Rice - $11.95 First off, the pricing of this place is really good and much less expensive vs other HK cafe we've been to. Secondly, everything we ordered is standard for most part, except, the hainese chicken rice which was the most common dish ordered and now we know why... The rice has flavour of the chicken oil and fat, and the chicken though not the most tender or slippery they call it in chinese, but good enough. The star was the sauce they provided which is 3 types: one sweet dark soy sauce like, ginger scallion sauce and their chili sauce... All these were very very tasty along with the flavoured rice! You must give it a try if you remotely enjoy cold chicken with these amazing sauces... I only wish they sell the chili sauce because that is very tasty!

It was my first time here, and the experience started off on the wrong foot. I had barely sat down, not even 30 seconds, before a staff member was already hovering over us trying to take our order. I hadn't even had a chance to look the menu yet, which immediately made things feel rushed and uncomfortable. The space itself is quite small, and they won't let smaller groups of two people or fewer sit in the booths, which adds to that cramped and slightly stressful atmosphere. There's people hovering nearby watching if you're almost done. Overall, the entire dining experience felt rushed from start to finish. The food is cheap, I'll give them that, but unfortunately the quality reflects that. I ordered a sandwich and it was sloppily put together. The bread slices were not even aligned properly, where the top slice and bottom slices were in opposite directions, making it so you couldn't pick it up. Flavour-wise, I was hoping for more of a Hong Kong cafe style satay beef, but this wasn't it. The curry was okay, with some decent chunks of meat and potato, but nothing particularly memorable. What really left a bad impression was the payment experience. Their debit machine defaults to 12%, 15%, or 18% tips calculated after tax, with no upfront notice or custom option. Tipping is not mandatory in Canada, and it should be up to the customer based on service. When we asked about it, the response felt as if we were being made to feel cheap over "just a few cents". Honestly it is not about the amount, it is about principle. If you are just looking for a quick and cheap bite, this place might do the job. But considering the long lines and how rushed the experience is, you might end up waiting longer than you actually get to sit and eat. Personally, I will not be coming back. I would rather get takeout or dine somewhere that lets you actually relax and enjoy your meal.

I am never the hop-on-the-bandwagon trendsetter. Good Catch Cafe and Bar has been in downtown Markham for a few years. I decided to come here for an early dinner after work on Wednesday for the first time. This eatery is a part of The Origin, the mall that includes a Cineplex, Goodlife Fitness, Chatime, and more. This eatery has its entrance facing Enterprise Boulevard. When you're parked at the parking lot across from it, it gives you the impression that the entrance is by the patio. Maybe you can enter and exit this side door when it's summertime. I see a lot of references in a number of Yelp reviews here to this eatery being Good Catch Boil. I remember when it was more of a seafood place when it first opened for business. It then meandered into a Hong Kong-style eatery, which is the case today. I'm guessing that the boil trend wasn't as popular over time. I walked in. I looked at a screen to check in. It was probably 4 pm and it wasn't terribly busy. I passed. A female server came over and asked if I was dining as a party of one. I nodded. She pointed me to a booth. I was pleased and sat myself down. It was comfy. It's kind of like a sports bar, but it's casual. I caught up with the Blue Jays loss against the Yankees the night before. By the end of my dining experience, this restaurant had good music playing that made dining here more upbeat. She came over with a bunch of menus. She also had a printed QR code. I could either order online or wave at any staff member to place my order. Nice! There are daily specials. You get a free drink with your order if you drop by between certain afternoon hours. I decided to order through the online menu and got these items: - Iced lemon Ribena - Curry fish balls (15) - Wonton noodle soup Service was wonderful. The female server got me water and my iced lemon Ribena. I love the latter drink so much. It was excellent. It had the perfect amount of lemon with Ribena, all iced. The water was also great. It was cold despite not having any ice cubes in it. My curry fish balls came out first. The curry smelled so good. I loved each curry ball that I stabbed with a skewer and dunked into the curry sauce. Each fish ball was bouncy and yummy. The sauce had a slight spicy kick that I thoroughly enjoyed. I'd get them again. A male server came over with my bowl of wonton noodle soup. I had maybe ten different noodle options to choose from, from ramen, to udon. I choose thin noodles. If you want a noodle pull, you'll easily get it here. The noodles were delicious, long, and so good. They weren't clumpy. Perfect! I was surprised that I got broccoli. I ended up submerging the florets in the broth. They started off on the crunchier side. They softened up nicely and I enjoyed how healthy eating each floret made me feel. I am used to getting bok choy or no veggies with wonton noodle soup. It was nice that I got something different. The wontons were excellent. They had shrimp in them, which I am thinking that the seafood part of this business is still there. I loved the green onions in this bowl of deliciousness. The broth was perfect. It wasn't overly salty. I could taste sesame oil that was aded to it. I paid at the table. The female server asked if I was paying by cash or card. I rarely have the former on me, so it was my credit card. I tipped and tapped, and thanked her for everything. Staff are so nice here. I'd come back just for the service alone. The food and drink were amazing, so I'm definitely a fan who wants to return for more good eats and drinks. I used the washroom before leaving this eatery. When you walk into this restaurant, the washrooms are straight ahead, followed by a right turn. It was cool seeing bowls of noodles being made by kitchen staffers as I passed by to get to the washroom. The women's washroom was spacious and clean. No complaints. I'm so glad that I finally dropped by this eatery. At least three restaurants have closed recently at The Origin. I'm glad that this one is still thriving. I'd love to grab a bite to eat after a movie or simply come here to enjoy good Hong Kong-style dishes. (214)

When discussing the drinks/combos, we got a little confused from the wording on the menu while we were ordering and the waitress serving for us was... lack for a better word, a bitch about it. The server lacked clarity and had a real mean attitude. Was giving off annoyed vibes and expressing it outwardly with their voice and their facial expressions; not sure that's the kind of service you're going for in the hospitality industry. I was trying to get my drink changed to a cold one from the dedicated drink and thought I followed the wording but was wrong. The wording on the menu is specifically for HK style drinks being in a cold form. Not a separate cold drink entirely. That was a simple clarification that would have been appreciated instead of the bickering and back and forth fuelled by annoyance. Out of two servers, one is much more pleasant than the other. Food is excellent. Passes the Chinese parent's standards for the cook of the fish and tofu for R13, as well as the peppery-ness of the AF9. The lamb skewers were phenomenal. Ambiance wise, it was cozy and quiet. Not very busy when we came, there were small groups of under 4 after us but no more than 4 tables total even at 4:30pm. Besides the altercation at the start, this place is a gem for the price and size of the food. Tastes great and feels mostly great!
