The noodle bar we actually know the name as A Zhu noodles. They were having multiple locations and brands. We had tried some other locations and some one told us this one was also good. They always close early that we couldn't make it before. This restaurant was not big, but the types of noodles and ingredients were varied enough for different people to be picked. And they do have different packages that customers can add on drinks or soups with cheaper prices. We had 2 different types of noodles, then add on a bottle of milk tea and a bowl of fish ball soup. It didn't take long to get the noodles. It was really tasty. The bottle of milk tea was smooth and really HKG style, just a bit small. The fish ball soup was ok, but it was small too. The original prices for those 2 add on items were a bit expensive, for add on cheaper prices, that's ok. We will still like to come for different noodles. read more

It's not easy to find tasty and cart noodles in Canada. And this noodle bar (cart noodle shop) is one of the best cart noodle shops in Toronto that I have ever tried. So as you can imagine they've become frequent visitors of this place, and took me here for lunch when I was back. I was actually kinda amazed given it looked like a standard noodle bar. I had a three topping noodle bowl with beef brisket, beef tripe, and abalone. The beef brisket was excellent (and highly recommended, rightfully so). The beef tripe was good too. The abalone, being an extra $1 charge, was not worth the extra dollar in my opinion, pretty average if anything. I had their TNB special sauce, which was a sweet and slightly hot sauce (not spicy at all though). This time I only got four slices of intestine :( The noodle to topping ratio definitely got higher. We tried the imitation shark fin soup with fish maw paste. Location/Service This place is located in the commercial Highway 7/Warden plaza with the HSBC, dental and a few bubble tea places. Parking is available all around, including underground. Inside is a very small restaurant - fit around maybe 5-6 tables or so. But you don't stay too long there, so wait times shouldn't that crazy. They do also have takeout service, which is very on time and more of my personal preference. I do appreciate their modern setup and the aesthetic use of utensils. Staff is also very nice and food was fast. Food I've tried this place several times and my go-to is always their 3-topping noodle (~$11). I like how it's customized, so you can really play around to find your personal preference and style. I do recommend their signature sauce (TNB Special Sauce - Sweet & Hot) and items like the HK Style Curry Fish Ball (very tangy), Slow Cook Chu Hou Sauce Beef Brisket (which is really flavourful and soft to chew), Deep Fried Crispy Fish Skin (light and not oily). Other notable items I enjoyed is Abalone (for $1 extra), daily vegetable and beef tripe. This place is more on a local-HK style noodle bar - so it's setup to be a convenient quick place. This place is so popular! We came on a Thursday, around 12:30PM - which is apparently right in the smack dab of lunch hour. We waited 10-15 minutes before getting seated, but those who came a bit later at 1PM managed to avoid the wait. My parents ordered the special with 6 toppings, each with the thin egg noodles. My sister created her own 4-topping noodle, also with thin egg noodles. I did the same, but with the flat noodles. The toppings I chose were the shiitake mushroom, beef brisket, curry fish balls, and tripe. I got the special sauce along with curry sauce. The noodles were of great texture and the whole bowl was very tasty and saucy. I found the mushrooms to be too sweet (they were marinated with oyster sauce), and wish there were a bit more brisket and tripe. My parents enjoyed it, though they didn't find it like the traditional HK version of cart noodles (as the chicken wings had bones, apparently classic cart noodles don't have bones). Every time we get bubble tea in the plaza (there's like 5-6), I always see people waiting outside the noodle bar or people coming out with take-out. I got the four toppings with oil egg noodles, which has curry fish balls, pork blood, braised beef and daikon, with their chili oil. Food came out fast, and portions were pretty big. Tran got himself the 3 toppings with thick noodles, intestines, shiitake mushrooms, and braised beef. I did wish I got the thick noodles when I saw mr. Trans' bowl come out. I am not a big fan of intestines, but I did try the soup, it had a little bit of the intestines flavour, but it was good and not foul! The shiitake mushroom tasted like they were braised for a long time which was soft and almost meaty. I've always love 車仔麵 (Cart Noodles) because I can always customize my noodles and toppings. Excellent for picky eaters like me! I was excited and patiently waited for The Noodle Bar soft opening. Upon arrival, I like it how they will take down my number so when a table is ready, they will call me. I just walked around the plaza and stayed in the car a bit while I waited. I think I waited about 30-45 minutes, but it was worth the wait! By the time I sat down, of course I want order the maximum toppings I can get! The menu was divided into 5 steps, Choose the number of toppings, section A-The type of noodles, there is a variety of oil egg noodles, thick egg noodles, thin egg noodles, and the list goes on! B-you select your own toppings to customize your cart noodles. C-select your sauce D-extra toppings for free such as coriander, shallot and chopped scallions. I chose 4 toppings with Noodle. My selections were the Japanese Sweet Soy Sauce Coddled Egg. Abalone for an extra dollar, Cuttlefish Balls, and Chaozhou Fishballs and for the noodle I chose Thick Egg Noodle. The highlight was definitely the TNB Special Sauce Sweet&Hot and the Lao Chu Homemade Spicy oil. Very delicious and quite spicy, definitely adds a good kick to my cart noodle. I was eager to try a dedicated cart noodle shop, a rare find in the GTA despite all the other HK food options. You scan the QR code for the menu and order through the mobile platform. There are options for customizing your bowl of noodles along with other side dishes. Overall, there's potential here but it lacks the authentic flavours and experience of cart noodles. We tried the curry fish ball with pork skin and daikon had good flavour, but it wasn't very hot, and the pork skin was a bit undercooked and had a bite to it. As for the cart noodles, one of my favourite HK street foods, there was way too much brother in the noodles! Cart noodles is not about the broth but about the stew sauce that elevates the flavour and coats the noodles. We found the flavour to be a bit bland and washed out. Anybody who has had these noodles in HK know you eat with your eyes first and what you see are plentiful stewed toppings with just a bit of broth filling the base of the bowl. Authentic cart noodles should have less broth and the ingredients certainly should not disappear under soup. I think the shop would benefit from giving less broth and stewing their ingredients for a longer time for a stronger punch of flavour. Also, the Swiss chicken wing lacks the signature malty sweetness. The best topping was the pork intestine. You can leave your name and number and they will call you when the seat is ready. Service is very cold. Didn't see a single smile or friendly face during our time waiting or eating. Worth trying to see what the hype is about but that's about it for me. read more

Fantastic cart noodle restaurant! The price is reasonable and the quality of the food is great. You can order a custom cart noodle with toppings of your choice (they have a big variety) and I love that they provide additional garnish (up to 3) that you can add at the end. Ordering online is easy and the staff there are very friendly. I had initially made a mistake when I ordered online (thought I ordered 2 cart noodles but only 1 went through) and when I arrived at the restaurant for pick up, the situation was quickly rectified. They took another order for me immediately and promptly got the order made. The restaurant is on the smaller side and I can see it getting very busy during peak times. Very cozy little place. Along with it comes the new entrepreneurs and restaurant owners and many of whom have chosen to bring to the table a piece of their home culture. If you take a look around town, many new Hk style cafes and noodle places have popped up recently. The Noodle Bar is one of many that have joined the party. This particular restaurant specializes in HK cart noodles where you get to choose your choice of noodles and then three or more toppings to go along with it. Traditionally they are served in a cart along the streets of Hk; hence the name cart noodle. Unfortunately, the cart noodle is not as enjoyable as I expected. My cart noodle consisted of curry fish ball, soy marinated intestines and Swiss style chicken wings on thin egg noodles. Flavour wise the curry fish balls were not bad, but they are definitely on the mild side. I also thought the pigs intestine was a bit under marinated. The Swiss style chicken wing is the best of the lot, but you could argue that the flavours could be bolder. What really disappointed me were the noodles. I mean they are called the noodle bar after all. The noodle were generally undercooked. There's a huge difference between the bounce from al dente noodles versus it being hard and undercooked. Unfortunately it was the latter. The owner meanwhile seems like a pretty sociable guy. He even sat down with the table next to me to chat with the patrons. The worst part of the meal was the temperature in the small dining room. It was super hot. I know it was a 31 degree day, but the restaurant felt like a freakin sauna. Based on what the owner said, it seems to be issues pertaining to the central A/C controlled by property management. Regardless of the reason, I think the patrons doesn't really care about the reason. They only care about how uncomfortable their dining experience was. I don't even sweat that much, but I was sweating beads during my brief stay there. I honestly think they need to solve the ventilation problem with more urgency. Tried The Noodle Bar for the first time the other day. It reminds me a bit of Deer Garden, where you select your type of noodles, broth, toppings, and side orders. Each table has a QR code to scan for the menu / order sheet. By default, everything is in Chinese and I was like how TF am I supposed to order but there's actually a small button near the top left that lets you change the language to English. A good/mediocre traditional HK style noodle bar ("car son noodle") in TO is rare. The variety/customization is just not economical in the long run. So when this place opened up, we went right away to support and try it out. In short, it's good. It does the job. Noodle Bars allow you to choose your: 1) Soup 2) Noodles 3) Sauce 4) And of course individual ingredients For a takeout, the noodles have the change to be soggy. I tried the yellow egg noodles and thick noodles and they were totally fine after a 30 min car ride. My wife has the thin (wonton noodles) noodles and they were soggy. Portions were pretty filling compared to many noodles places we have been (I.e. We came here by words of mouth as we've heard of it for so long. The restaurant is clean, service was prompt and welcoming, we were served with warm water immediately after seated. A hot bowl of soup noodles would be most comforting in the cold weather. The presentations were good, noodles in good texture and ingredients were fresh, however the food and soup base were heavily MSG which made us feel very thirsty afterward. 車仔麵... another child hood memory street food :) I ordered the noodles with 4 toppings: curry fish ball, curry pork skin, chu hou beef brisket, and deep fried pork fat. Each of the ingredient are cooked throughly with care so the items are very tasty! (入味). To me, the curry sauce and the beef brisket sauce goes so well together with the soup noodle and together also with the house sauce, taste very good! Make sure u get all the shallot, coriander, scallions, it just taste sooo yummy all together. Got to mention the evil guilt deep fried pork fat... my favourite!! Those are the left over bite from the pork fat after the pork oil are extracted out when the pork fat are deep fried. You gotta have that! I recommend u eat those bites first while it's crunchy before the soup make it soggy. I do the take so I took the pork fat bites out before I pour the soups in. Yum. Very evil... but yum!! We also get the rice with pure pork oil with soy sauce. I guess this is where the pork oil is used .. haha.. another evil dish. But to be honest, it's a tasty bowl of rice but don't expect too much because after all, it is only white rice with oil and soy sauce. The aroma from the pork oil is something to try if u haven't tried pork oil with rice before.
