We came here for their promotion $25 for 2 people. Recently, we saw some reels recommended that this restaurant offers a great deal, and the deal only offers from Monday to Thursday, and Wednesday is closed. Today was Tuesday, so we were good to go. The promo was $25 including 1 bowl of noodle, 1 bowl of clay pot rice with meat and 1 of snack dishes. We could choose them from the special menu. We chose the beef noodle soup, chicken & mushroom clay pot with soup, and the snack was the deep fried wonton. The wonton was great, so delicious and my little one loved it so much; the beef noodle soup was ok, but only a few pieces of beef and radish; the clay pot was the most I like, when I put the soy sauce in, the pot was boiling. That's so nice. That also caused the crackers at the bottom. That's really amazing. We also got a little bowl of the seaweed soup for the clay pot. So nice. This special deal was so good that enough for all of us. Next time, I would like to try other options.

The Lanzhou noodles had a great chewy texture and tasted super fresh. The claypot rice was warm, savory, and had that nice crispy bottom layer which made it extra satisfying. Portions are generous and the flavors feel very authentic and comforting -- like a home-cooked meal. It's a great budget-friendly option in Markham, especially if you're dining with a friend or partner. Definitely a hidden gem for cheap eats. Would recommend if you're craving noodles and claypot rice without spending too much!

Opted for the beef brisket soup noodle instead of the dried mixed noodle. They served beef shank (not brisket) and it had tons of radish. Noodle texture was soso imo. Noodle were gummy so it might of been overcooked. Fried wonton was mediocre. The filling was some soft gewy filling which I personally didn't enjoy. Minced pork claypot rice was decent. It takes 20 minutes to prepare and it had the cripsy rice layer at the bottom if you like crunchiness. It even comes with a side of seaweed egg drop soup. Overall 3 stars for a honest review but can't complain for $25.
We saw on Instagram that they had a $25 Double Meal Set deal going on so we decided to come try it out. It's essentially 2 entrees + 1 appetizer and you get to pick which ones you want. I've attached an image of the different options available. We came in on a week day and honestly it was quite dead. They do have fantastic Bruce Lee art on the walls. The seating wasn't exactly too comfortable and the washroom was not very clean. Service can be slow at times because there was only 1 waiter. We choose the Classic Beef Noodle, Chicken & Mushroom Clay pot rice and the Cold Spiced Chicken. It also came with a Seaweed egg drop soup. The Classic beef noodle was very average. The beef wasn't seasoned very well and the noodles were a bit too soft. Honestly it was quite disappointing. However, the Cold Spiced Chicken and the Chicken & Mushroom Clay pot rice saved the meal! They were both so delicious especially the clay pot rice. The Cold Spiced Chicken was tender and spicy. It was really good but just a tad bit too oily for my liking. The seaweed soup was a bit bland but it was great to cut out the oiliness of the cold spiced chicken and clay pot rice. The clay pot rice on the other hand was seriously a 5/5 for me. I haven't had clay pot rice in a while so I may be bias but I can't think of a single thing I didn't like about it. The rice was cooked perfectly. The chicken was so tender and soft. And the layer of crispy rice at the bottom was so delicious and crunchy. The vegetables and mushroom were there... but I mean you can't really screw those up. The portion sizes were really good as well. For a place that has "Hand-pulled noodle" in their name, I am quite surprised that their clay pot rice is better than their noodles haha. I would definitely come back for their clay pot rice and I think this $25 double meal set is still a really fantastic deal. Also they only take cash or debit.
Came here for a weekday breakfast, they have breakfast deals until 11:30am on weekdays. It is a great deal with combos of congee and a side for $7.75! There was a wide variety of items to choose from, congee, rice rolls, and a variety of snacks. We got a couple of congee and snack combos and also a couple of side orders of other things. The congee portions were gigantic, more than enough for two people to share and have their full. The fried dough was good too and big. Overall a great deal and good food, lots of options to choose from. Will need to come back to try their hand pulled noodles.
First time at Big Beef Bowl in Markham! I finally got to try their famous noodles and ordered the large Beef Offal with rice noodles--so flavorful and packed with meat. Great portions, great price. Can't wait to go back and explore more, especially their breakfast combo!
Got shrimp 肠粉。 it was pretty good. Wrapper was not too thin or too thick. There were bite sized shrimp present. Service was standard and nothing to complain about. The sauce paired nicely and wasnt too salty or sweet. The place was pretty packed around 8pm. I would come back to try their beef noodle soup.

We wanted to order the rice clay pot but because it takes 20 minutes to make they stop serving the rice earlier. We ordered the meat sauce dry noodles, the spicy chicken, congee with fish slices and the Shanghai pan fried buns. The meat sauce noodles was decent with the noodle texture really good but the flavour was a bit lacking and needed to add their chili sauce which was also lacking flavour. The congee texture was very watery but the fish slices was very fresh and good. The spicy chicken was very tender but also lacked flavour. The pan fry buns was ok and juicy but the wrapper thickness was inconsistent although the flavour was decent. Gave 3 stars only for the price as taste would be 2 stars.
Had a GREAT experience for my first visit here! Big Beef Bowl has their own menu PLUS a few pop-ups within their shop! It's really great that there are so many options inside one space. It is large and feels a bit like a food hall. Food is super tasty, and staff are very personable and helpful. I am a huge fan of soup noodles, and was eager to try! I loved the lamb soup boodle with extra thick noodles. Ask for scissors to help with the noodles. And the pan-fried soup dumplings are great too. HIGHLY recommend trying the Laksa, and Satay Skewers from Little Jakarta, too. Definitely will return to try more from all the different menus!

I was intrigued and looked deeper into their menu and realized they open pretty early for breakfast. So you have the breakfast menu of cheap congee (porridge) and rice rolls if you're into that but also can get lunch during lunch hours of 11:30AM onwards if you're here for their hand pulled noodles. It gets quite busy here so it's a pretty quick meal. Not really a place for having deep conversations in. The servers seem to be always on the go since they're so busy. I always go for their meat sauce noodle which is dry without soup. I also enjoy the flat fat noodles the most since it gets all the sauce onto the noodles. Another must get for me is the san ji bao, since it's pan fried on the bottom, but has a juicy exterior with the meat. A great spot for some comfort food!
This is your quintessential bring your kids here Chinese restaurant! The decibel level is enough to blow your eardrums. LOL. Happy sounds. The food here is predictable: good quality beef, not too much fat, not salty, silky smooth hand pulled noodles enjoyed in a family environment. Prices are reasonable for this day and age. The shredded potatoes in chili oil and sesame oil were exceptional. The lamb skewers (not pictured) are a waste of time TBH.

Located conveniently at Hwy 7 and Kennedy, the restaurant offers lots of yummy food from hand-pulled noodle to clay pot rice and snacks. The interior has a feel of the west, very casual and unique. The Shanghai Pan Fried Bun is dying for, the bottom is crispy, a mouth full of soup when having a bite. The hand-pulled noodles are made in house. The service is very prompt. Love the food here and will be back again.
Big Beef Bowl Hand-Pulled Noodle is such a long standing spot in Markham for a good reason. Their lunch is tasty, fast, and inexpensive. $25 lunch combo for two people (Mon, Tues, and Thurs, opens at 11AM). It comes with 1 hot clay pot rice, 1 soup noodle, and a decent sized snack. A few choices for each of these items. Check the menu out. Honestly can't ask for more and this is why it gets jam packed easily at lunch time. Good news is that people are usually eat-and-go without sticking around for long. So even with the crowd, you might be able to get a seat in 10~15 min during the busiest time. Alternatively, quite a bit of people simply call-in for takeout's and Uber. Awesome price-value, decent comfort food with great taste, jam-packed at lunch time. Not a bad choice. read more
Came by on a nice quiet week night for a bowl of comfy noodles. We had the stir fried pork on their regular hand pulled noodles to start. It was really oily, though the noodles were really nice and chewy. I found the pool of oil quite difficult to get past though. Next we got the classic beef noodles. We went for the flat, soft noodles which were great. As they state though, it gets really soft and mushy after a bit, so I recommend maybe sticking with the regular chewy noodles. The beef was soft and the radish was sweet. The soup base was comforting in a way but also very heavily salty. I couldn't tell if there was just a lot of MSG in there, but I couldn't sip on the soup much. We also ordered the shan xin bao, which is a fried soup dumpling of sorts. The breading was really thick and the soup was quite sweet. Not really the taste we were use to. We also got the pig ear and cucumbers cold dish. This was absolutely swimming in oil as well. They chop up black bean in there for flavour and it just added a really bitter taste. We didn't end up touching most of this, opting to bring it home, rinse it, and re-season it ourselves instead so the food wouldn't be wasted. All in all, the service is nice. I think the baked rice could be worth a try, but there's a lot of great noodle options in the area I personally prefer. As always, give it a try! They have a lot of great reviews on Yelp, so it potentially just doesn't suit my preferences. read more

In Peachtree plaza, this Mon-Thurs all day deal for $25 was perfect for 2 people. You get to choose a noodle, a claypot rice and a side. The noodles were typical and I found there was a loy of minced pork on the claypot rice. We chose the fried pork dumplings as the side which was well seasoned and though the claypot rice takes longer (~20min wait), was perfectly crispy and came with a seaweed soup to loosen up the delicious crunchy rice. We also ordered an additional side of fried pork buns (4 for 7.99), which was more oyster sauce forward but still juicy and delicious! Everything else seemed reasonably priced so I would go back to try their rice noodles! There are a lot of small tables but a fast turnaround so if you go a bit earlier than busy hours, you're sure to find a spot. read more

Even though this restaurant has quite a bit of seating, it was very busy during lunchtime. Also, this plaza is basically all restaurants, so parking may be hard to come by. We ordered Shanghai pan-fried bao, Chinese cured meat and sausage claypot rice. The table next to us had also ordered sang ji bao, and it turned out that the meat wasn't fully cooked. The server apologized, took back the dish, assured the customers that a new one was being made for them, and let them know that the manager was giving them a discount. That's really good customer service! Luckily, our bao was fully cooked. Perhaps a little overcooked, as the bottom of the bao was quite hard. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. The bao was quite a bit smaller than we expected, though. For the claypot rice, we prefer it from the other restaurant in the plaza. read more

We came at off peak time (4pm on a weekend) and was seated immediately. Overall, friendly service and quick food preparation. Impressed with the variety offered on the menu. It looks like two restaurants is combined in one space - Big Beef Bowl that offers Lanzhou style noodle and grills, and West Gate canton restaurant that offers congee, rice rolls, clay pot rice, dumplings etc. This makes it perfect for family groups when everyone has different cravings :) We tried the ox tail beef noodle. The broth is flavourful, noodles has a nice chew, and the meat is tender and falls off the bone. Skewers of wings, pork belly, and lamb were tasty. Cantonese cheung fan was filled with ample amount of meat and veggie. Dumplings and san ji bao were scrumptious and juicy. read more
I had a very high expectation for this place. I recently am intrigued by Chinese noodle soups. I love the delicacy of the noodles' - in terms of variety of styles, the springy & chewy but soft noodle texture, and the depth/flavor of the soup. I heard this place makes fresh hand stretched noodles with a variety of options (thin, regular thick, round, flat etc). Excited to try this place! It was on Saturday close to 2pm but this place was FULL . There were a few groups waiting for table. Seated fairly quickly and servers came to our table quickly to serve hot tea and take orders. Service was attentive and super efficient. We had # Classic Beef Noodle (Size L, with flat thick noodles) : Served with a pair of scissors, because the noodles are too thick to cut with a pair of chopsticks. (It was like a lasagna!) Yes, the noodles were really thick and chewy. I kind of regretted that I should have chosen regular noodles. A bit too tricky to eat by chopsticks. Because of the thickness, it did not integrate the flavor of soup (very simple - nice - flavor) very well. The soup was good. I wished there were more meat - it is far less compared to the amount of noodles. # Fried San ji Bao : Great, crispy and juicy. Next time, I want to try different noodle thickness, with stronger soup options. :) read more

This place is seriously underrated. If you're looking for a hearty delicious dinner that will definitely fill you up, Big Beef Bowl is where to go! We shared the large beef brisket noodles, shrimp and bbq pork rice rolls, potstickers, and youtiao. The noodles we got the thickest and medium density and it was so delicious. They give you a good amount of brisket and the soup was so flavourful. I loved how slightly chewy the noodles were. Also, they pull their noodles to order (or so I've read) so that gives them a bonus point! The shrimp and bbq rice rolls were delicious too and hot to order. Make sure to flip them so the rice rolls get an equal opportunity to soak in that soy sauce. The pot stickers were proper pan fried dumplings and pretty juicy. They also gave us more youtiao than I expected and they were crispy slightly chewy representations of my childhood. Service was really chill and I loved how homey the whole restaurant felt. Definitely a no-frills straight-to-business great Chinese restaurant I'd love to return to. read more

Big Beef Bowl ( 牛大碗 ) Traditional hand pulled noodles in New Kennedy Square is an under the radar casual Cantonese eatery with some amazing handmade Lanzhou-style beef noodles. We ordered Braised Beef Brisket Noodles with regular round and regular flat noodles. The texture of their fresh homemade noodles and the broth is so good. Their pork and chive potstickers are scrumptious. They have delivery service for those cold winter nights when a nice, warm bowl of soup is welcome. read more

Big Beef Bowl is my brother's favourite spot, and it never ceases to amaze me. The place was bustling, as usual. It's cash or debit only, but they offer a very affordable set menu--with congee starting under $10 and noodles under $15--so I wasn't too bothered. I went straight for the oxtail noodles, which were hearty and savory. The broth was mild, and the oxtails were tender and delicious. However, the hand-pulled noodles really stole the spotlight. I loved how they even provided scissors to snip them into more manageable bites. The Rice Noodle Roll was crunchy and savory, with soft rice noodles wrapping it all up nicely. It makes a good snack or a shareable dish if you still have room after all those noodles. I also tried their Shanghai Bao. The contrast between the crispy bottom and the juicy filling was pure bliss. Service was quick and efficient. Despite the crowd, my meal arrived in only about ten minutes. It does get quite crowded, and the cleanliness was acceptable. They're a bit shy with the meat, but they give you enough noodles to keep your belly full. If you're in the area and craving a hearty noodle fix, this is the place to be! read more

I ordered their special poster-advertised "Oxtail Noodle" for $17 thinking I'd be in for a treat and it was terrible. When they placed the bowl down, I thought they got the wrong table because it looked nothing like their poster image. There was barely any oxtail to be seen. After fishing to get a small piece, I took a bite and the meat was super chewy. What an embarrassment of a menu item. They really shouldn't blow it up on such a large poster and market it like that if it's going to be false advertisement. I'm so disappointed in this place - not coming back. read more
We used to come for their hand pulled noodle and didn't know they started a breakfast/ congee menu and expanded their regular menu. The place wasn't busy which is surprising as the value of the breakfast deal is amazing considering you get a decent sized bowl of congee with fritters/ rice roll/ turnip cakes of some sort. I definitely appreciates the separate table and how spacious the place is in comparison to other similar restaurants in the area. Service was prompt and friendly. Hand pulled noodles! Hand pulled noodles! This was more of a snack stop so unfortunately I couldn't try most of the items. Got to try a little of everything. If you're looking for really slurpy noodles or machine cut noodles, this is probably not the place for you. Flavor bombs all around and the textures for each item was great. I particularly liked the cumin lamb as it was nicely spiced and the char was great. I also got the soy milk but it was just microwaved for it to be hot so...it was lukewarm? read more
I love noodles, particularly this style soup with hand pulled noodles, beef, coriander and green onions. Even with so many places serving great bowls of noodles, Big Beef Bowl is by far my favorite. Firstly, they are very generous with the noodle portion sizes. At most other places, I have to order extra noodles. Here, I order a large knowing that I will get all the noodles I could possibly want. The broth here is delicious also. Deep, meaty, yet crisp and clear, it provides a great base to the dish and allows the greens to provide contrast and palette cleansing when I need it. The side dishes here are also solid. I haven't been here in a while and recently made a visit based on a friends recommendation. To my surprise, the space has grown and there is much more seating. From what I've remember, the noodles were very good and hand-made. That has not changed. The soup base was much more powerful than I remember but I felt like it might be more flavorful and strong than I prefer. I ended up drinking more water. There are also plenty of noodles to share in the small bowl. I would say that 2 people could share this bowl with a small appetizer for a full meal. Overall, the experience here was great and I would return! I am pretty curious about their other food selections and will try something new next time! read more
Now LLBO. Fresh hearty bowl of noodles with lots of snacks and now even congee and hot clay pot rice! Spacious design and great service. For only a dollar more you can upgrade to a large. It's totally worth it if you're hungry. But eat quickly, or the noodles will soak up the broth. Will definitely come back again. read more
Was feeling hungry late night and decided to see what was up in this plaza regarding food options. After scouting out a few restaurants, decided to give this place a try. This is a very casual eating place. The menu was a little less than what was displayed on the front, but maybe it was like a late night limited menu. The prices are reasonable for these days. We ordered 2 bowls of soup, choosing the type of noodle you would like. Beef and Picked Mustard: Arrived very hot, just the way I like it. Serving size was good - too much for me - ha!. Well I started eating and it was so good, I ate it all! The Braised Beef Brisket: This was also yummy. The broth was so tasty. Sometimes you have these soup and the bases all taste the same. I've been coming to 牛大碗 for years now , ever since they were in the single unit next door. The food is not only delicious and arrives promptly, but the braised beef brisket has always been consistently good and never disappoints. I always get the round thick noodles which I find compliments the beef and soup very well and are always cooked to perfection. I ordered the potstickers, which were a delightful combination of hot, crispy, and satisfying. However, I deducted one star due to what appeared to be a slight service hiccup. Not sure if it's a shortage of servers or some other issue, as our requests for various things, including the bill, were often left unattended for more extended periods even after being acknowledged. Even after we walked up to the front to pay after waiting 15 minutes for the bill, the same waiter that said would bring us our bill asked if we were there to pick up a take-out order. Food was great! Everything was very fresh and made to order. I was very impressed by the hand pulled noodles. The texture was perfect. Just the right amount of chewiness but not hard or soggy. Great flavor and the cheung fun was thin and very smooth. They're short-staffed so a lot of drinks on the menu were not available to be made to order. This is a quick paced restaurant so don't expect over the top good service. This place takes cash and local debit cards only. read more
One of my favourite spots in Markham for hand pulled noodles - Big Beef Noodle is a family owned restaurant that I highly recommend. Even when its hot or cold, something about their soup noodles always hits the spot! Usually we're fairly lucky to be able to grab a seat quickly during common lunch hour, but I can gurantee that although they have plenty seats available, Big Beef Bowl always fills up fast with families, couples, friends etc. Their menu consists of the classic noodle dishes you can choose from, as well as the noodle style youd like. They also have many asian appetizers/snacks, clay pot rice, rice rolls and Shanghai fried buns! I always opt for the Spicy Braised Beef noodles, and if youre worried about the spice hiting you, it's honestly mild (to me LOL). There's homemade chilli sauce on the sauce if youd like to add more kick. The Shanghai Fried Buns are delicious as well, but I would definitely wish it had abit more juice as sometimes they're abit soup less in comparison to many I've had. This is the second time I went here. They are famous in soup noodle and dry noodles dishes. Soup base are tasty and you can pick different style/thickness noodles, all are pretty good. This time I really want to try their Sang-Ji Fried Bao, tasty and juicy meat stuffing and thin skin. Friendly service and spacious interior. We ducked in here day after the first heavy snow fall. Ordered the Braised Beef Brisket and Lamb Noodle Soup. Both with flat thick noodles. Portions were generous, even for the small size. The beef soup was very flavourful and hearty. The noodles was springy and has an awesome chew, I couldn't stop eating it. The brisket was mostly tender and bouncy, had a few pieces that were a bit tough. I added some vinegar and chili oil, has a nice toasted sesame taste, wish it was spicier tho. The soup for the lamb had a meaty yet clean taste. Can tell it was simmered for hours as it had very deep lamb flavour. The noodles soaked it up nicely. The meat was soft and not gamey. The hot soups here are perfect to warm up with for those really cold days. Plus hand pulled noodles...nuff said. read more
Don't you love when a restaurant name tells you everything you need to know? What can you get here? Big beef bowls. What's in the bowls? Hand-pulled noodles. Can it get any more obvious? So what should you order here? Is it their big beef bowls? Well yes, but also not necessarily. Out of everything we ordered, the beef noodle was actually not my favourite, but damn it, it was hard to compete. Everything we ordered was so good! First on the list are those juicy pan-fried pork buns. Oof. So good. Beware of splash alert because these things got a crispy bottom and juicy insides. Then, came the sample order of chicken in chili oil that was free with a $20 purchase on UberEats. I wasn't expecting much from the freebie but I underestimated it. The chicken was fall apart tender and soaked up all that good chili oil. Slight hint of spice, but very savoury. Then the noodles in black bean sauce and cucumbers. Huge portions, very saucy, and mixed up with those chewy hand-pulled noodles. So how can a simple beef brisket soup noodle compete? It was great in its simplicity. The thick noodles were similar in texture to Magic Noodle though feels a bit thicker. The broth was nice and clear, with less MSG. And oh my, so much beef brisket. Lots of big, chunky pieces of beef. That's what I want to see. Less garnish, more meat. It's was a very good big beef bowl...even if it couldn't compare with those juicy buns and chili chicken. Despite it being takeout, we are thoroughly impressed. Great prices, great value, and great food. We came for the big beef, left craving their pork and chicken as well. Definitely ordering takeout from them again, and soon. read more
The restaurant has a comprehensive menu serving mostly Northeast China food, they have soup noodles, lo mien, skewers, cheung fan (rice flour sheets), cold plates and etc, they are certainly meant for customers with Chinese stomach. This is a family business, service is prompt, price is reasonable, everything is mediocre and to the point with no surprise. I'd like to give 3.5 stars, and I don't mind to visit again. read more
