I was in the Markham/ Unionville area and was craving noodles (and quite hungry) so I decided to check out Hey Noodles ( McCowan and Hwy 7 location). They are known for their unlimited egg noodle refills and was truly ready to devour many bowls. It is a nice noodle shop, plenty of tables and a bright atmosphere inside. I go to try out the Sichuan Style Beef Brisket. For all their noodle soups, you have the option to adjust your spice and numbing level. I got it with egg noodles, mild spicy, and mild numbing to create some flavour. It was truly an excellent bowl full of flavour from the soup and a perfect balance of fattiness and tender for the beef brisket. Service was also quite quick and the noodle soups came out very fast. Overall, this place is great for quick bite with hungry friends and has truly many options to check out from their dry noodles, signature series and fun sides. Worth coming back! read more

Whenever I'm looking for a late night snack with friends, Hey Noodles is usually on our group's late night eats top ten list. Together we've collectively sampled just about everything on the menu. Since they're well known for their soups, the Signature Noodle dishes tend to be at the top of our selected choices: Tomato and Beef Brisket Soup, Xiao Mian Chongqing Street Noodles Soup, and Stewed Chicken and Mushroom Soup. This time around, after scanning the QR Code on my phone to activate the menu ordering screen, I went with a simple yet tasty choice of Original Dry Noodles. The specific ingredient combo selected for the dish was: no spice (no chili pepper spice level), sesame paste sauce, red cabbage shreds, green onion, cucumber shreds, lettuce shreds, plus an add on of 2 cold marinated eggs, soy milk and strawberry slush which tasted like strawberry jam mixed in a Vitamix with ice. It was the perfect combination. This Markham location has a different feel compared to other Hey Noodles locations, like the downtown Toronto location, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Scarborough or North York stores. Noodles had the perfect bounce and brisket had excellent fattiness. Honestly can't really ask for more. The perfect bowl. House Special Cold Noodles - Wife gave thumbs up and would order again so it's good. Stewed Chicken and Mushroom - Kids had this one with the potato noodles. The transparent noodles make it look better for an extra dollar but I think it would be just as good with egg noodles. Kids agreed. Soup has a wonderful mushroom flavour but the chicken was dry. Honestly this place wasn't special at all, I got the Sichuan style beef brisket noodle rice noodles, first off this place is way overpriced, the good thing it's open late and I was hungry, I mistakenly gotten a bit to spicy but I was able to tolerate it, the brisket had a lot of fat in it, I wish the price was a bit lower, the broth there was no taste, the service was quick, and the ambiance was okay. The noodles had a nice texture to it, I wish the egg was soft boiled but it was hard boiled, the broth had no taste it was really spicy because I got spicy, the bowl was nice no broken bowl because I notice a lot of restaurant serve broken bowls to customer which is unacceptable. Came here for Friday for an early lunch and it was empty. Regardless, the service was great. Water came every so often and the waitress came whenever we got her attention. If you pay with cash, you get a can of pop. I only wish that I knew this earlier, so that I could have enjoyed the pop with my spicy noodles. Ground pork noodles - I love the aromatics, the numbing spice, the savoriness of the soup. Combined with the chewiness of the noodles, twas a great combination. There is an option to scan a barcode to see the menu and order online however the one staff on the floor brought us menus and was on standby to take our order. My mom was a bit confused with the options so the lady explained everything to her. She was kind, patient & attentive. Eventually we ordered the beef brisket with egg noodles mild spicy & mild numbness (my order), pork ribs with egg noodles spicy & no numbness & pork belly with egg noodles and not spicy. My beef brisket was so delicious as the meat was tender. I could have gone spicier however I enjoyed the mild spicy since it had a nice kick but wasn't overbearing. I didn't really notice anything about the numbness. The egg noodles were cooked well. My husband who had the pork ribs enjoyed his but said some of the pork ribs was not as tender as the others. He also ended up getting a free noodles refill which looked like it came with double the amount of the original. Lastly, my mom said her pork belly was not fatty enough so it was quite dry. Wow first time going to this place and their noodles are bomb!!!! Service was great, food is delicious, and prices are very good for what they give you! I tried the fried chicken xiaomin ($14). I've seen posts on Instagram from Hey Noodles and the food always looks appetizing so I made a mental note to try it one day. I happened to drive past this new location on my way to getting my car serviced so it was a good opportunity to try it. I didn't know about this location before and it was close enough to walk over from my mechanic's shop. Their menu has snacks, appetizers, several noodle dishes, a couple of desserts, and a Create Your Own Bowl of Noodles feature, where you (1) choose your protein; (2) choose your noodles; (3) choose your soup level; (4) customize your taste (spice level); (5) and then choose your toppings. We chose to build our own. I ordered the pork belly with regular noodles and my companion ordered the beef with extra spicy broth and vermicelli. By default, the soups are topped with cilantro, green onions, garlic, peanuts, sesame, and sesame paste. I chose to not have the cilantro. We shared an order of popcorn chicken. Both soups had very good flavour and the extra spicy had some room to still kick it up a notch. Although the beef was good, I preferred the pork belly. It was very tender and had a lot of flavour. I liked the regular noodles but I might try the vermicelli next time. At $12.99 (pork) and $13.99 (beef), it was neither cheap nor expensive but it becomes a better deal if you take advantage of the free refills on soup and noodles. Eating here was a pleasant experience! The menu was from a QR code sticker on the table and you would "add to cart" on the webpage for the workers to get your order. Each table was also divided with clear acrylic half walls, and cutlery and bowls were disposable - so it feels safe! My partner and I ordered the beef brisket noodles, mine with sweet potato noodles and his with egg noodles (it's customizable yay!). I also chose to get mine less spicy and with less numbing. Prior to this, I hadn't really eaten many foods that numb the tongue which is why I chose less numb, and loved it! I had to take a break from the noodles from time to time as it was pretty spicy for me (even at less spicy level), but the popcorn chicken served as a great cool down snack. They pack the soup with so many spices it gives that umami taste which is perfect for winter. I took advantage of the grand opening promotion and tried their chongqing street noodles for $1 with free refills! I went after lunch hour at around 3pm on a Friday and got seated right away. Since it just opened, u can tell that the restaurant was still a bit unorganized. The table was a bit dirty but it's not easily noticeable because it's somehow the same color as the wood grain. The place isn't huge, maybe less than 20 small tables? The kitchen has a huge window so you can look inside but it isn't like they are making the noodles from scratch. Anyway, they checked that we are eligible for the promotion and we each got a bowl of chongqing street noodles. It's a decent size bowl of noodles with soup that looks super hot cuz it's red. For the soup you have a choice of the spice level and numb level, the regular spicy actually already has a bit of numbness to it, and to me it was very spicy. I'm not sure if you can just get the spice or just get the numb... It doesn't come with meat but by default comes with some ingredient like veggies (in our case lettuce), preserved veggies, cilantro, peanut etc, but you can customize. As for the noodles it's not too soft but I think a bit softer than al dente which it's perfect for me. For the free refills, they give it to you on the side so if you plan on getting the refills, don't exhaust your soup. This location us located along hwy 7 of Markham,ON between Markham Rd and McCowan Rd inside the small strip of plaza right beside Mazda dealership. It used ti be where Rose Chinese Restaurant was located. The did a good job renovating the place and add a good character to the old restaurant where it used to be. The place is now brighter, cleaner and nice decor. Menu is simple straight forward. I ordered the beef brisket noodle soup, i was right when i ordered just regular for level of spiciness cause yoy dont want to go beyond that and dont taste the beefiness of the broth. It is light and oily, i guess probably from the spicy chili oil. There are good chunks of beef but mostly the tendons off from the beef flanks and not too fatty which is good. I also ordered the tofu strings which they call it tofu skins. I like ordering this because it helps mellow down any too spiciness and cool down the piping hotness of the broth. I added all the free toppings except for the sesame paste, i also recommend noodle firmness hard because they serve egg noodles not the Shanghai noodles most beef noodle soup place serves. The bowl came out pretty small about the same size as to Japanese Ramen place. Come to close to the end of my soup and noodles, i ordered another seconds and it took less than 5mins to bring it to my table as advertised free noodles and soup refills. Its is cook to order however was a bit disappointed that the free soup was not the same soup base as for what i had ordered beef noodle soup. It looks more a lot like bonito soup base top with sesame seeds. The noodles are good if you like egg noodles freshly cooked to order. I find the price too steep, the beef noodle soup is around $14 the tofu stings is $5 and comes in a small servings. With taxes it comes to $21 and change. It is worth your while if you order more noodles and soup, but by judging from the free soup refills, it watered down the beef flavor and i dont really recommend it. Noodles are great but if you are a soup person like me you will be just disappointed of the refill. I was also set a back when they wont accept debit for orders less that $30 and have to use the ATM machine they have loacted at the corner inside the testaurant. Overall experience is ok nice clean and bright place, u dont really see any value of having unlimited free refills if noodles and soup. And for the price i paid i could had went to my favorite beef noodle soup restaurant not too far off from this location and could have order the beef noodle soup, pickled cucumbers and boa for $3 more. read more

Came here on Friday night around 6pm and got a seat right away. I ordered the Chongqing minced pork with peas. The menu is a little misleading because when you think of "peas", green peas would come to mind. However, it's actually chickpeas, which I don't mind at all. I opted for the less spicy soup base, no numbness and regular noodles. The soup base was flavourful, but I just found it a tad too oily for my liking. My hubby also enjoyed his beef brisket noodle. The pricing is regular for most noodle places but they do have unlimited noodles which is a nice gimmick. Aside from the food, the service was very attentive and it was only one server for the whole store. I visited yesterday (early Monday evening) and there was one table beside us. I ordered the pork belly noodle soup (regular noodles, regular spicy, and less numb) my partner ordered the classic dry noodles with minced pork and peas (chick peas by the way) and we got the popcorn chicken to share. My soup was quite flavourful, I wasn't really able to taste my partner's noodles after my own. Popcorn chicken portion was small, pieces were small as well. It wasn't crunchy as expected of anything popcorn. The sauce that came with it seemed like typical BBQ sauce. We enjoyed dipping the chicken into my broth though, really delicious. My partner and I both enjoyed the noodles. I asked for a half refill to finish off the extra soup and took the meat out as I could not finish it. Was later advised that they don't normally allow for the rest to be packed home if we asked for refills. My partner did not ask for a refill, but it was nice they allowed me to as I usually only eat noodle and soup at restaurants and save the meat for last or I take it home. Modern decor in a small and old plaza strip in Markham right along Highway 7. Hey Noodles is very easy to pass by, but I feel like it's getting more recognition because they have several locations! It's also a great place to grab a late night bowl of noodles or a drink (non-alcoholic) since they stay open until 2am. We ordered their regular bowl of wonton ($6.99), minced meat rice bowl ($11.99), and classic dry noodles with minced pork and meat ($11.99). The wonton and the minced meat rice bowl were quite delicious. There were about 8 wontons in the bowl (medium sized wontons), and the minced meat rice bowl was pretty big - I was pretty sure my head could fit inside that bowl since it was so deep. Many of the noodle bowls have pretty good "perks": PROPORTIONS: The proportions are pretty large for the price when compared to places like Sansotei ramen. Tucked into a small nondescript plaza next to Markham Mazda, this location is easy to find, but difficult to notice. Parking lot is cramped and limited; no street parking as the plaza opens up to Highway 7. Restaurant decor is modern and utilizes clean lines, pale wood accents and large windows opening into the kitchen to show food preparation. Service I find is the main issue here. Lots of people waiting but no instructions or acknowledgment. For first time visitors, when you arrive you will need to walk up to the counter (at the back of the restaurant) to ask for a number. Wait staff seem a little overwhelmed/confused. We asked for a refill of noodles, but it took quite a while for it arrive. By the time the waiter came by with it, we were nearly done eating all the meat and toppings. They also forgot which tables asked for refills and walked around asking random patrons if they ordered extra. Noodles were delicious and well textured. The soup was flavorful and thick. The braised pork I ordered was tender and seasoned. I'm torn about Hey Noodles. I desperately want to like it but maybe I can only return during off hours. read more

I was here for lunch at around noon on a saturday and this place was pretty dead - first red flag. They charge around 12-15 bucks for a bowl of build your own noodles like a lot of places in Markham, but places like dagu and deer garden has a slightly lower price point and comes in bigger portions/drink. I ordered the braised pork with noodles in spicy broth. The broth was very oily, very spicy but still taste kind of bland..? Even with the unlimited noodles refills doesn't justify the high price point for noodle soup. This was the first and probably the last time for me to eat here. read more

This store has the best ventilation among other Hey Noodles but the portions are definitely smaller. The soup base is not as thick. The condiments in each bowl was less too. And for the first time in my life, I had to ask for noodle top up. Clean place. Service by one guy there was very friendly and efficient, but the girl that we had that night was not ultra friendly or responsive. This one has full glass viewing through the kitchen, so it sort of gives me peace of mind with their food handling. read more
