    Wuhan Style Sui Mai
    Tom S.

Pan Pan Noodle Bar is tucked away on the second floor of a building on Baldwin, above Light Cafe, and can be easily missed by passersby. Their signature dish is the Wuhan style sesame lover hot dry noodle. They also offer snacks, cold plates, drinks and other noodle mains. Some of their dishes cater to vegetarians. In my first visit I ordered the Sesame Lover with Beef Brisket. The noodles tasted good, with the rich sesame sauce, but unfortunately the beef brisket was tough. The pickled cowpea free topping was a nice addition. In my second visit, I ordered the Sesame Lover Original and the Wuhan Style Siu Mai. The sesame sauce in the dry noodle dish was not as rich as compared to the first visit. The Wuhan Style Sui Mai dumpling wrap was on the dry side. Service was ok. Street parking available. No credit cards accepted. At the time of this writing, 20% discount for cash payment. TLDR; tasty Wuhan style dry noodle with sesame sauce

Original Sesame Noodle - very flavourful.

Nestled into the burgeoning and ever-changing Baldwin Street restaurant strip, PanPan Noodle Bar is a worthwhile stop before embarking on a night out on the town. Upon ordering, the waitress brought over some complimentary hot and spicy Szechuan peanuts which were a nice appetizer and quite addictive too. The Original Sesame Noodles were good. They packed a punch with a gamut of delicious flavours. You are given options for various add-ons when ordering. Next time here I'll try the Wuhan Style Siu Mai, Sticky Rice Crepe and Sago Taro Sweet Soup! Finally the black and white pandas painted on the red wall were a cute added touch to really give the space some character with wall murals. Lookout for Er Shun and Da Mao!

Almost finished Sesame Lovers Noodle - sorry for blurry pic one-handed while on the sidewalk...

3.5 Stars. Another spot featuring Wuhan-style Sesame Noodles which I'm obsessed with for the past 2 years. For me they didn't quite nail the sauce as well as Markham's WuhanNoodle 1950 but it was still pretty good and I rounded them up to the same 4 stars due to other scoring points. Admirable that they sell the signature dish at the same price despite the higher rent district and greater investment in look/feel of the place. They also have a more interesting supporting menu & seasonal specials. Other comparisons to WN1950: the sauce is darker and more sticky - resembling a Mee Goreng in texture - it's harder to mix but coats the noodles better once distributed. The noodles were extra firm - I think more from the density of the dough rather than being less cooked - it will please firm noodle fans while some may object to this level of chewiness. Like WN1950, the portion is more snack-size than a stand alone meal. I ate it quickly in the street so I could taste them fresh for fair comparison, although I don't really like eating outside as there's not the same intensity of the smell, so I still may not have gotten them at their best. I've wanted to return here for a while but ironically I have the Corona Virus to thank for the extra days off and easier street parking which made it much more convenient. I hope they resume Eat-in while I'm still on reduced schedule so I can properly taste the full-topping version and some of the other dishes for a more complete picture.

PanPan's signature sesame lover. Rice noodle, pickled cowgrass, shredded chicken, reg spicy, garlic, green onion & cilantro

Came here on a Saturday for lunch right when they the store just opened. I could tell they were getting busy with group of crowds coming in. This is a great fast food place for those that work around the area. I ordered the: PanPan's signature sesame lover Base: rice noodle Toppings: pickled cowgrass, shredded chicken breast Level of spice: reg spicy Comes with garlic, green onion & cilantro I like how you can choose the kind of noodle you want. The food was fairly good. I thought that the reg spicy was just right, even tho I drank a few glasses of water, I enjoyed the spice level. The toppings and chicken was also delicious and went well with the noodle. You have to mix the toppings/noodles/sesame sauce really well or all the sauce will be at the bottom and your food will taste dry. Overall, I had a good experience dining in at Panpan Noodle Bar. Staff was very attentive and friendly. I would come back if I'm around the area and try their other dishes.

Situated on the second floor is a noodle bar with origins based in Hunan. As the staff told us, all noodles are made from their recipe which makes their noodles stand alone from all others in the city. Top that my friends. I tried an incredible variety from their menu. Everything was delicious. I prefer things with a light spice but they are more than happy to change the spice level. Highlights from their menu include the vermicelli noodles with beef brisket, the sticky rice crepe that I've never had before. This was intriguing and delicious. I also had sui mai which had this fresh, homemade taste. Dessert was fascinating. I don't even know how to describe it other than if you go - try both. One was a purple fried yam thing - this circular disc was crisp and sweet - like a thick fried sweet potato . Amazing yet visually maybe the most unappealing but hands down my favourite thing. Warm, gooey, chewy sweetness that you dip in this powder which I think was told it was a green bean dust thing (I might have that part wrong but whatever that is --- wow!!) I would absolutely order this again. Fabulous customer service. Check the site for hours as they are not open very late.

Hot Dry Crab - perfect for spicy lovers

Another great addition to Baldwin Village, PanPan Noodle Bar serves comfort food from Wuhan, China. I was not exactly sure what type of cuisine this is, so I was very curious and excited to try! It is located on the 2nd floor, right above Light Cafe. Unfortunately, there is no elevator, just a narrow flight of stairs. My friend managed to bring a stroller up ;) Anything for good food really lol. PanPan specializes in dry noodles mixed with a variety of aromatic sauces. Most popular ones would be the Sesame Lover and the Dry Hot Crab (3 chili pepper kind of hot!) Both IMO very delicious - the crab one pretty much won everyone's heart at my table ;) For the Sesame Lover, you can choose from traditional Wuhan styled housemade noodles, rice noodles or wide vermicelli. The housemade noodles are very light, and cooked al dente. If you prefer your noodles a tad softer, go for the rice noodles or wide vermicelli. I would also recommend the following: - Wuhan style siu mai (4 pcs) - dumpling made with sticky rice, diced mushrooms, and meat (I forgot if it was pork or chicken, sorry). - Sticky rice pancake - covered with a layer of egg on top, the sticky rice on the bottom along with delicious ingredients - Soft Inside (2 pcs) - a fried mochi like dessert, comes with a housemade sweet dipping powder on the side Overall, a very satisfying meal. Thank you so much for the delicious food and excellent service :) I would certainly come back again! P.S. make sure you save room for dessert! The rice wine soup dessert was very light and enjoyable!

Saw the sign on Baldwin street that this noodle place just opened and as part of their grand opening, there is a discount of 20% on everything on their menu. Cash only! This new resto is located right above Light Cafe and serves mainly noodles. I heard this place wasn't due to open this soon so it was a surprise to see an opening sign on the street. The restaurant has mostly of 2 to 4 seats table. There is a big red wall on one side with cute drawing of pandas making and eating noodles. Ordered the beef noodle brisket "Drowning Bull" for $10.99 and the Meat Noodle volcano for $8.99. The beef noodle brisket soup base is delicious but a tad salty. There were only three brisket pieces and I think most of them were tendon so therefore, the Meat was kind of chewy. I guess this is the standard for many places to have so little piece of meat. The meat noodle volcano was well presented with lovely colour combination of thinly sliced carrot. I really like the Meat with the noodle despite how little it was. Both dishes were medium sized so I would consider these two dishes to be just as snacks as opposed to a full meal. With so much competiton around the neighborhood, I really hope this restaurant survives.

Having scoured the city for good eats, pan pan noodle bar was such a win. With a small entrance leading to the second floor, it's easy to miss being nestled in Baldwin St., adjacent to many good eats that line the road. But just like Alice in Wonderland, follow the rabbit hole (or panda hole in this case), and you'll be in for a treat! Let's start with pricing. This type of pricing still exists in Toronto ?! For as low as $7.99 you get your money's worth for a kick ass large bowl of their signature noodles. Let's be real here, with the recent minimum wage hike, even McDonald's increased their prices. In the midst of this chaotic food price inflation, for something to cost less than McDonalds? Worth my shiny penny, please take my money. The food. Flavorful, abundant, has a hearty depth to it, this place is worth every penny if you're looking for comfort food. The noodles are chewy and cooked to perfection. Drizzled in seasoning and ingredients, the entire bowl is a jolt to your senses, especially if you're looking for a traditional savory spicy treat. It's exactly the type of food I would go to if I was still a student looking for a filling and homey meal on a budget. Traditional, unique, and bang for hour buck. What more can one ask for? Even though it's my first visit, I was lucky enough to have met the owner who is very cheerful and personable. He leaves you laughing and is extremely hospitable and mentioned the menu was recently revamped as he's continually looking for improvement and making sure his food is top notch and a true reflection of the origin. Saying it is one thing, doing it is another. In uniform and rolling up his sleeves, you know this is a sign of true dedication and quality control when you see the owner entering the kitchen himself and bring hands-on. It's no wonder the food is so good. Mad respect. Atmosphere mirrors the owners personality as well as the food served...welcome home. The cleanliness is on point and the space is warm and inviting. What more is there to say? Definitely a place worth revisiting. Curious? Then give this place a try. It's well worth the price for a hearty meal and drink. $7.99...still in awe at their pricing which is well priced below the market.

Love this chinese noodle joint's spicy hot-dry noodle! Simply just so delicious! Im been super curious to try out this place, and we finally went to check it out. See the photos for the delicious noodle pull~ Super close to AGO, around a 5 min walk from St. Patrick TTC Station. PanPan Noodle Bar is famous for their signature sesame lover noodle with their delicious sesame sauce + spicy chilli sauce! It's simply garnished with my favvv green onions, it's definitely the noodle to-crave for!! Make sure to mix up the noodle to coat it with all the sauces that's at the bottom of the bowl. The thick noodle has a super nice chew that complimented the sauces amazingly. They also serve spicy peanuts on the side too, I added in some of them to mix in with the noodle, and adds a great crunch! They also have a variety choice of side dishes, and we tried out the sticker rice crepe which tasted like Taiwanese glutinous rice with a thin layer of pan-fried crepe top. it's delicious just on its own without any sauce too~ Lots of seating, large portion, the price is also a uper cheap and affordable. Definitely coming back Sesame Lover Original - $7.99 Sticky Rice Crepe - $5.99

Classic noodle joint on baldwin street. Noodles are a little overcooked and chicken breast was cold. Also noodles were not pre-mixed before serving so we had to mix ourselves.

We came here for a Saturday lunch and it was almost all full. We were seated fairly quickly and were given some spicy peanuts when seated, but no water. There was only one waitress during this busy time. We had just started looking at the menu but then the waitress came and asked us what we wanted to order. We didn't even look through the whole menu yet, but since the menu was only one sided we just scanned through it quickly. We ordered one sesame lover with regular noodles and then we asked the waitress what would she recommend. She said sesame lover. We ordered one already so obviously we wanted something else. But since we were starving, so we ordered another sesame lover with rice noodles. We didn't want to add any toppings but the waitress was like "No toppings!?!" so one we added chicken and one we added beef brisket. It took a while for the food to come (~30 mins). We were confused why it would take so long just to make 2 bowls of noodles. The bowl with regular noodles and beef brisket had much more noodles and was much hotter than the one with rice noodles and chicken. The regular noodles were okay, but the rice noodles were extremely soft and overcooked. The beef brisket was all tendons, no meat. The chicken was also very dry and tough. The sauce is okay, very strong sesame taste. The worst part - THERES LOTS OF MSG IN THE NOODLES. After eating here, we had ice cream and drank lots of water, BUT WE WERE STILL THIRSTY FOR HOURS.

Hidden spot, located on the second storey above the trendy Light Cafe. We went on the weekend for an early dinner and were the only customers in the restaurant. As a result, service was great! I ordered the meat sauce sesame lover noodles and my boyfriend ordered the pulled chicken sesame lover noodles. Both were delicious! The meat sauce noodles were a lot more saucy than the chicken. As a snack on the side, we were given a little bowl of peanuts with numbing chili peppers. The staff turned on soothing Chinese music once we started eating, which set a nice ambiance. We didn't understand the Mandarin lyrics since we are Canto, but we really liked the music. We wanted to try the hot dry crab noodles, but sadly they were not available. We will definitely be back!

Second visit was as good as the first! The signature sesame lover dish is the Wuhan style Ren Jan Mien. Not sure if I am saying it correctly, but it's a delicious noodle dish that is tossed in a sesame based sauce which gives it a creamy texture. They always recommend to mix well to coat all the noodles appropriately. You have the choice of noodles, but I've found the flat rice noodles to offer the perfect surface area to cover the rich sauce. I would recommend including all their free topping options and to add sliced beef. Also don't forget the chili oil for the right kick it blends amazingly well for a mouthwatering taste. It's the perfect filling yet light meal especially for a hot and humid summer. The staff are friendly and very happy to walk through the menu for first timers and to give recommendations. However, if you order their signature dish let's just say you can't go wrong!!

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

You can only pay cash which is strange. I've never seen that anywhere else. The Bill had five dollars added. I couldn't understand why the bill was so high then I found out that they decided to add the tip to the bill before they gave it to me, but didn't tell me, so I could've paid the tip twice and not known it. We will never set foot in this place again. I am forced to give it one star it deserves none.

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this. Overall, Mott 32 is absolutely the kind of place I'd come back to for a special dinner, celebration, or just one of those nights when you want the meal to feel a little more elevated than usual.

Finally back for dim sum…read more First off, they need to fix their reservation system. Don't accept 1:45pm reservations if the dining room closes at 2pm. Also, when we call to check if dim sum is being served, it makes sense to inform us of the dining room closure instead of having us come in anyway. We settled for eating in the lounge which ended up being good because bartender, Aiki?, was excellent as our server. Really great. Ordered the following: King prawn Har gow: standard. Not worth the premium Mott charges. Miso black cod dumpling: not good. Wouldn't order again Shredded Peking Duck Spring Roll, Sliced Vegetable : Excellent. We loved this! Nice and crunchy. Delicious duck inside. Good vinegar dipping sauce. Good volume Hot & Sour Iberico Pork Shanghainese Soup Dumplings: Fantastic and unique. The dumplings don't really need dipping sauce since inside there is a hot and sour soup along with pork. These are unique and delicious. Fried Wagyu beef taro croquette : pretty good but really tasted like a Jamaican patty Cold noodle with shredded duck : very generous with meat. Honestly a lot more than any other restaurant that serves this. To be fair no one charges this much either so it should. Flavour could be stronger but certainly decent. Fresh Mango, Coconut, Glutinous Rice Roll: nice fresh dessert. Our favourite. Frozen xiao long bao with chocolate and nut: Tastes like a mochi. Not bad. Dragonball Zen - fun name. Delicious drink. Jasmine Dragon Ball Infused Tanqueray Gin / Peach Liquor Lime / Rose Water / Mint / Seltzer Over $200 for this meal before tip. It's premium an debatable if with it. Will be back but just occasionally.
