We always get the noodle combo when we visit. The laksa broth is nice and creamy and another favorite is the tomato pumpkin broth which is very light and flavourful. There was a promotion for an additional toppings for the combo so we were able to get 3 toppings for no extra charge! The combo comes with a drink which the cold milk tea or cold lemon tea is always our go to. There was also a 9.99 special for different rice dishes which was a great deal and even available on the weekend! read more

We decided on eating here because there was a long wait for the restaurant at the corner. There were not a lot of other diners present at Deer Garden when we went in for dinner on a Wednesday evening at around 8:20. It was just us and 2 other tables. We were told by the server that the last call to order was at 8:30 PM. We ordered the Laksa seafood noodle in chicken broth and the Hainanese chicken rice noodle in chicken broth. Both were good but I have had better experiences elsewhere. I do not know of a lot of places in Toronto serving Laksa so this was an OK experience to be able to have it again. The Laksa's broth could be thicker and creamier. I would also wanted it to have more of the coconut taste, but I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that it may be a regional variant of the dish. At least it has lot of variety in its toppings. The other dish we tried was the Hainanese chicken noodle soup. We had it in this configuration for a change. I must say that Hainanese chicken is better paired with rice. There are 2 dips that came with it. The ginger dip was a little lacking. I find it lacking flavour and fails to properly enhance the taste of the Hainanese chicken. The chicken broth also came off a little too salty on first taste. What was redeeming was that dish orders came with a free choice of beverage. We paired our orders with Almond milk & Chocolate milk. Both dishes's serving size were also huge. We had to take them both to-go. Right after we were served our orders the waitress came by us and subtly implied that we already pay for the food because they were already closing shop soon. I was surprised by this because I am always used to paying at the end and have always understood this to be the expectation. I still paid the bill in cash and gave a slightly higher percentage for tip because that is just how the cash amount conveniently rounds up to. read more

Came to Deer Garden for an "afternoon tea" on a weekend. Since it was on the weekend, there were no special combos on discount. I ordered the corn beef with egg sandwich combo (approx $9) and my husband got the satay beef vermicelli combo (approx $15). We both got hot milk tea with extra milk. The server was very nice and ask if I would like my bread toasted - just like in HK. And just like in HK, the sandwich was served crustless. The bread was light toasted, the scrambled egg was piping hot. Personal preference, I do wish they put more corned beef in it. The milk tea was average, there was some tea flavour, but it also had a bitter aftertaste. My husband liked his order. They were very generous with the vermicelli. read more

Double check the amount on the machine when you pay! They added 20% tip when they handed over the machine and it never asked me how much I wanted to tip!!! We were only a table for 2 so it's not like this is a mandatory gratuity. Service was nothing special to deserve 20% tip and if I didn't ask for my receipt I wouldn't have realized that they automatically added it to the bill. So shady and I will definitely not return to this location read more

One of four locations in Toronto, this is the first Deer Garden I've been to. I came at opening hours on a snowy Sunday. Lots of parking available in this plaza. It was very empty. The space was clean and bright. Service was great! Our table of 3 shared: 2 soup noodle combos - one with laksa broth (tasty and spicy) and the other with tomato pumpkin broth (very good also! Highly recommend if you're looking for a non-spicy option). Would love to come back to try the other broths! We also added two sides ($3.75 each): ox tongue (only 2 slices) and Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The sides were small but tasty. The Hong Kong milk tea was very milky. Wished the tea was a little stronger - but passable. read more

First time trying Deer Garden at this location. We came as a party of 6, with orders efficiently split 3 ways. Pay by debit at the register. We were seated promptly and given small bowls and plastic utensils for the kids. Service is typical for Asian restaurants, they only came when we flagged them down, but they were friendly when we were being helped. I got the Fish Soup noodle soup which comes with a small assortment of veggies (nappa, bean curd sticks, mushroom slices), choice of 2 toppings, and a drink. I picked fish tofu, fish fillet, and added bok choy for more veg. I also got a side of popcorn chicken. For drink, I upgraded to lychee ice. My partner got a noodle bowl with pork chop (not pictured) and a hot coffee. We also got a chocolate milk for our daughter. Ordering was seamless, the staff was fluent in Cantonese (and also Mandarin for other customers) and English. Bill splitting was also done very efficiently, each group order at our table labeled A, B, C. Fish broth was a bit salty for me and I couldn't finish it. The toppings were fresh and portion was enough to split with my 4yo. The popcorn chicken was slightly too spicy for my daughter but it was good flavour. read more

The soup base for the Dan Dan noodles is delicious and highly recommended! The peanut flavor is rich, and the addition of XO sauce enhances the experience. Also tried the Thai Tom Yum and Malaysian Laksa soup bases, catering to Chinese taste with a slightly sour and sweet profile. The soups are flavorful with plenty of ingredients like tomatoes and cabbage. Personal ranking: Dan Dan noodles Malaysian Laksa Thai Tom Yum Tried the beef brisket, smooth squid ink slices, and fish slices - all decent, with the standout being the frozen fish slices for their unique texture. Additional charges for iced drinks; the charcoal-roasted milk tea is delightful.

Warning store hour has changed!!! Closes 8:30pm 4.5 star... In tune to their other location the Layout is spacious and comfortable. 3.5 star.... Service is acceptable, I can only see 1 waitress , and 1 person working on drink and cash working the dinning area. So you get only "shout out" for services. 3 star... I prefer the food at their hwy7 or silverstar blvd location. However their drink is not bad. As like their other locations, if you like a bit of heat, ask for their hot sauce, their give you their XO sauce (I think they made it and not store bought) read more

As a Hong Konger, rice noodles is our comfort food. And I've found the perfect place for 米線！Though their fish soup base was disappointing (flavourless), the spicy soup base was savoury and flavourful, it's even better than some rice noodles I ate in Hong Kong! The portion was super large and they put so much veggies inside the soup. read more

Due to the convenience of the location and decent food I've been here a few times. Service is typical Asian restaurant where they aren't super attentive and you have to ask for more water/tea. There was one time I was here with a large group and at times we may have gotten a little rowdy but it's not a big deal. Keep an eye out for specials so that you can try something new. FYI, payment is taken at the counter. I'll definitely be back. read more

Overall 2.5 stars. I have been to this location a few times. Food was fine -3 stars. The menu is same as other locations Service - 1 star. They messed up our order every time, gave us wrong items, forgot one of the orders especially if you are not ordering the noodles. I am not sure why the staff didn't write down those order (rice, sandwich) and always missed them. Twice already that we needed to wait for 30 minutes for the stupid sandwich or rice bowl that could be ready in 10 minutes. I think I gave them enough chance. Will not go back. read more

Deer garden is a small chain and this location is definitely my favourite (least fave is the Scarborough location, their broth is weak). I usually get their fish soup noodles but their curry is also really delicious and flavourful. I get either their Tom yum or laksa soup base, but their tomato and pumpkin soup base is amazing as well. You can pick two toppings from a wide variety and add more for a price. There is a wide selection of carbs too ranging from rice noodles to vermicelli to glass noodles. Comes with a basic drink but can upgrade to bubble teas and fancier drinks for a small price. My go to: Tom yum with rice noodles, pork liver and pork skin. Drink: iced lemon tea or iced milk tea or iced lemon ribena read more

Wonderful fish soup restaurant! I'm a big fan of any noodle soup combo, and this is no exception. They make a very flavourful fish soup broth here, without too much fishiness (at least in my opinion) that many may dislike. There are non-fish based broth options too, if you like--but I feel like you'd be missing out. It's a wonderfully hearty meal, complete with whatever toppings you choose. A very consistent and delicious spot for fish broth noodles! They have many locations across the GTA, so it's easy to find a location that works for you. Their noodle soups are on par or perhaps a little more expensive than usual noodle soup spots--but I think it's worth a shot. read more

I work nearby so I probably come here a bit too much. My go-to order is the soup noodles: Malay Laksa Soup base, with flat rice noodle and imitation crab. With cold milk tea to drink. $14.15 I think + tip. The Laksa soup is very tasty, a little spicy, a little seafoody. There's plenty of noodles and it's a little heavy but the flavours are good. Make sure to also ask for their chili oil! I'm told the other soups are pretty good too. Price used to be better, but at the moment I still think it's worth it. Service is hit or miss. Can't tell if the servers are trying to be funny or just rude. read more

When we came here they have the special promo that you can pick an additional topping for free. So we order the 3 topping soup noodles. The service is good. The noodles is not as good as the hwy 7 location. The toppings (even with the extra toppings) is less than hwy 7 2 toppings portion. The pork liver toppings is not cooked. The flavour is not as good. I will return, but for the hwy 7 location unless this location's food improve. read more

A new Deer Garden Signatures has opened and I couldn't be happier for this 4th GTA location! This is a high traffic place so I hope business goes well for them. I like the reno, it reminds me of a Hong Kong canteen. Their signature checklist noodles start at $11.50. What can I say.. their food and service are consistent with their other locations so it's nice to have that trust here. The idea here is build-your-own bowl: they have a checklist for broth, ingredients & noodles customization; I call them "check mark noodles" lol. I rarely pass up a chance to eat at Deer Garden for their noodle + drink combo b/c they're delivered fast & straightforward. I usually like to order peanut soup broth + egg noodles + milk tea! I think it's unique in the entire GTA. Not to mention, I love set meals that come with a drink, it just makes the whole experience happier.. a bonus! ^^ & Lucky me, this place is always available to me now being in such a convenient location. read more

It's a solid cheap eats in the area. A decent selection for your mood depending if you want a bowl of custom noodles or cheap northern Chinese fare. Off their cheap menu (you get a couple to choose from) a bowl of red braised ribs and a HK tea for under $10 is a pretty good deal these days. If you want a custom bowl of noodles, you'll have fill out the request slip on the table and check off what you want. Standard mid-low end Chinese restaurant service. We'll take your order, we'll bring you your food, but don't expect me to smile about it or ask you how your day is! But they also start their tipping options on their machines at 10%. So you really do get what you pay for. read more

This is a chain restaurant with four locations and I've been to three locations in the past. The Vaughan and North York location are much less busier than the Scarborough location (long lineup) but with equally good quality of food. They are famous for the fish noodle soup. A tip is to get the Chaozhou style soup base, don't get the original flavour which is so plain. They claim not to use MSG for the fish broth. You can always choose two side dishes at a cheap price when you order it with the noodle soup as a combo. My favourite side dishes include the Harbin sausage, deep fried chicken wings (crispy outside and flavourful inside, best deep fried chicken wings I've ever had in town) and deep fried fish fillet. They also offer curry rice, teriyaki combos and other daily special combo etc which include a drink for free. The food here is generally decent. read more

My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to grab a quick bite as we were heading downtown. In our neighbourhood, choices weren't that many. So we decided to come here. As we were looking from the outside, the restaurant looks clean. So we said let's go. This Deer Garden isn't that much different than other locations in terms of setup. However, once we ordered our noodles the differences started to appear. First off the noodle soup was blend. And I ordered beef tendon, these aren't even soft let alone flavourful. Service was alright. Coming back? No way. read more

My boyfriend is OBSESSED with Deer Garden. He can eat here every day (he actually did for a while.. not even exaggerating). This new location opened up so we decided to give it a try. Usually we go to the one at Highway 7 & Leslie. First off, the interior is clean and new- very good first impression. However 7pm on a weekday and it was almost empty! Usually the highway 7 location is packed by now. We kept our hopes up anyway. We ordered our usual soup combo and found that the noodles were WAY over cooked (like, zero texture), the toppings were over cooked and the soup was watered down. Overall, the flavor was good, but they have some things to work out. Maybe it will get better over time. read more

Pros: Topping portions are much better at this location Cons: Takes a bit longer for food to come out My family and I are fans of Deer Garden so to hear one open up in North York is a boon for us as getting to Scarborough location can be a bit of a trek for us. If you've been to one Deer Garden, you've been to them all sorta say. The run down is basically you choose your broth, noodle, and toppings for your noodle soup. You get up to 2 toppings for the $11.50 and you pay extra for more. They have sides you can order with every noodle for about $3. I recommend the chicken steak one. They also have some other food items but if you come here, it's more or less for the noodles. Taste wise, this Deer Garden compares well to the other locations. The big difference for me was the amount of the portions you get with the toppings. I always get the beef brisket topping when I come to Deer Garden. At this location, they give you A LOT of the toppings you ask for. I would guess it was almost twice as much as I'm used to going to the other locations. I'm a big eater so this is definitely a good thing. The only gripe I had was that this location takes a bit longer than usual to bring out the food. Usually, Deer Garden's a very quick to bring out your order. You'll order and within 5 minutes you'll be receiving your noodles. It was almost about 15 minutes before we received ours here. The place wasn't too busy too. I will chalk it up to the place being relatively new and they're just working out the kinks. I will definitely be back in the future to see if this improves. All in all, if you're a fan on Deer Garden, having another location open up in North York is a good thing. Any fan of noodle soup in general should also give it a try. read more

Great noodle in soup restaurant. Portions are large enough to fill me up without the feeling of overpaying. Hot HK milk tea comes with the meal which is a nice touch - staying true to a traditional "fast food" Chinese restaurant. What's also nice is you can add a side dish at a discounted price. Though I'm sure the portions are much less than an outright order but again, this is a nice touch. The soup bases are good, but it can leave you with a bit of a thirst for the next couple of hours. Overall, the "choose your own adventure" ordering allows you to customize what you want in your bowl, which makes it great for everyone, especially the picky eaters. read more

Updates: new location at don mills! ATMOSPHERE: The tables felt a bit crowded, but overly fairly spacious and clean. Seems lots of families come here. SERVICE: Food arrived extremely quickly, probably within minutes. Server was friendly and also quick to bring extra napkins and what not. FOOD: Good variety of Chinese food, with soup as their specialty. I ordered the Beef Spicy soup which was piping hot, spicy to taste, and came with ample amount of beef, tomatoes, and noodles. This was filling for sure. VERDICT: I will be back when I want quick and filling food at an affordable price. read more

This place is known for fish soup with rice noodles, you choose your soup, toppings, noodles and they put it together for you. My go to is the original fish soup with vermicelli, and I add in fish fillet and yu choy. Their original fish soup is really creamy, no msg added, so you can finish the whole bowl of soup without feeling that thirst. The rice noodles they offer are all chewy and not over cooked, the way I like them. The combo of one bowl of noodles and two toppings comes with a free hot beverage, if you choose to make it cold, it's a $1 extra. A lot of people also make it into a bubble tea which is a few dollars more but my go to is cold lemon tea or the milk tea. Their laksa soup is really good too, it's creamy and flavourful. It's definitely another popular option for soup but just a heads up this soup contains msg. If you're not a noodle soup person, they also serve rice as well, so don't worry you have a few selections to choose from. If you like chili oil, they have a spicy xo sauce you can ask for on the side, it's definitely worth trying. This restaurant also has other locations and they're all good, I just go to this location because it's closer to home. read more
