Before coming, I read a lot of Yelp reviews, so my expectations weren't high. The actual experience was a mix of pleasant surprises and disappointments. First, the pros: their burgers are definitely a highlight. The patties are very substantial, with a genuine meaty flavor, not the mass-produced kind. The toppings are also well-chosen, not just piled on haphazardly. The plating is also a plus; it looks quite appetizing when it arrives at the table. The service is generally friendly, not overly enthusiastic but not unpleasant either. However, the cons are also quite obvious. The biggest problem is the inconsistent quality--some dishes are excellent, while others are rather ordinary, even making you feel like "something else tastes better." Plus, the prices aren't cheap, so if you happen to order an average dish, the value for money doesn't quite meet your expectations. This has always been my favourite Vietnamese spot, but this visit was disappointing. The menu says shredded ginger, yet as my photo shows, the broth was full of diced chunks of ginger. Shredded should be thin slivers that blend in -- diced pieces were overpowering and unpleasant to bite into. I asked and was told they use a food processor, but that doesn't make it shredded. A busy pho restaurant in the plaza across from First Markham Place. This place was packed around 12:30pm with a short line forming. Service wise, they were okay. We were greeted and sat quickly and they were not rude but there wasn't much interactions other than dropping off our food. They didn't even mention that we had to scan the QR code to order which we didn't know as it was our first time here. I do like ordering from the app though as you can have a couple of customizations such as the type of noodles, broth type, toppings for the vermicelli (choose 3 out of 8 options), etc. We ordered a standard pho and a vermicelli and they both came out quickly. I thought the pho broth was pretty good and rich, but the beef was a little tough. This bowl was also a little small considering the price. For the vermicelli, both meats were pretty juicy and flavourful. However the spring rolls were very lacking in my opinion. They were crispy but also very thin and kind of bland. This kind of ruin the dish for me as the spring roll is usually my favourite part. The price is kind of steep but you do get quite a bit of meat. My absolute go-to place for Vietnamese Vermicelli (Bún) bowl! To be honest, my review is only based on this dish because I only order this item on all my visits. There's nothing too special about how they prepare this dish except that you can choose the ground beef wrapped in betel leaves which is done really well here and there's not a lot of Vietnamese restaurants that have this meat as a topping. I also like that you can customize this dish by selecting 3 toppings and they have lots of choices like sugar cane shrimp cake and bean curd shrimp cake which is also my favourite. I usually pick the ground beef in betel leave, deep fried bean curd shrimp cake and grilled pork. So yummy! Both the taste and the presentation are subpar here. It is food court quality food charges for a restaurant price. To me, it is just not worth it if you have tried other pho places in the York Region area. Service here could have been better definitely. Waiters have attitude. Not sure because it's low pay or understaffed. After trying other pho places along Hwy-7 15~20min away from here either to the west or east direction, you will see the difference. This was my first time coming to this new location. The Pho was my regular go to place for Vietnamese at the original location. On entry, we were quickly seated as it was just after lunch time. The menu choices are reduced vs the old restaurant. We ordered the Bun/vermicelli and the chicken pad Thai. The bun is only one option now - 3 choices for $18.95. I went with spring roll, beef and chicken. The serving size was just OK, not huge. The chicken had nice lemongrass flavour and tender. The beef, tough and chewy. The spring roll was alright. While the flavour wasn't bad, I would expect better for $18.95. The chicken pad Thai had good seasoning and taste. However, the noodles were gummy. Service was basic. Quality has gone down ever since they closed their original location. Small "everything" pho wasn't bad, but the soup was lacking some flavour. The tomato brisket noodles was huge and it was $17.95. It was tasty and I did get a lot of beef shank. However, I couldn't finish the noodles because it was huge and when I asked for a container, I was told it would cost $0.50 + tax. My only reaction was "do i have a choice?". It felt like they would rather let the food go to waste! Located in the Shawarma Stop plaza across from FMP on the Burger King side. There's not that much parking but usually the lot isn't too packed. My friends and I stopped by on a saturday evening after a session of badminton. We JUST managed to dodge the dinner rush as we arrived at around 6:30 and got a table for 6 with no reservation. The minute we all got seated there was a line packed out the door and the yelp waitlist updated in real time to reflect a 20-40 min wait *phew*. The original pho was pretty good according to my friends. I did try some of their broth. It was nice! My personal fave place for pho is still Pho Anh Vu on Hwy 7. That place is untouchable right now imo because of their great taste and HUGE portion sizes. I ordered the pho tai sa te (satay broth) while the friend next to me ordered pho tai ca ri (curry broth). They both tasted good but the ca ri broth tasted great! It was more complex and layered than the satay broth. Next time I'm back, my go-to will definitely be the curry broth. None of us tried the vermicelli bowls so I can't comment on that. At the end of the meal, the server notified us that they couldn't split the bill but they gave us a 5% cash discount which was appreciated (usually if you pay in cash you get 10% off but it's fine). Service itself was pretty good. The servers were all friendly and prompt. I do wish they kept the tiny sauce dishes at the tables for easy access though (you have to ask the server for a specified number). One thing that's special about this place is they also let you build your own bowl of noodles (same concept as Deer Garden) which is cool for a viet place. This is a solid spot for Viet eats! I think they are definitely on the pricier side for the portions they give (the L and XL sizes should be bigger in my honest opinion) so Pho Anh Vu will still be my go-to viet spot in the Richmond Hill/Markham area. read more

Best pho restaurant I've ever been to so far! BYOB Pho - I chose the Regular size which was more than good enough for me. I also chose to include rare beef, beef brisket, and beef tendon in my pho. I appreciate that they also give the option to add or not include cilantro because cilantro is a no-go for me. The broth was very flavourful and the beef tendon was succulent. Yum Chicken Wings - the chicken wings were very flavourful as well and nicely crispy. Service was very efficient and friendly, even when it was pretty busy when I went. Usually when trying a new pho place I try their bum no hue (sorry if spelled wrong) but was with the family who don't really eat spicy. So we went with the usual 1 XL pho, 1 vermicelli, one fried spring roll and tried a fish nuggets. Would have got an avocado smoothie but it was like $8.50 so decided to pass. Pho was good, lots of meat. Broth could have been a bit richer , as I usually prefer a deeper flavour. Lot of tripe and tendon which I love. Tendon was nice and soft. Vermicelli I didn't get to try much cause my daughter was loving the grilled meat on it . They also are the shrimp on the sugar cane stick without sharing. But the noodles and a bit of meat I got was quite good. I can see why she likes the meat. The fish nuggets were dried, nice light batter and came with a dipping sauce. They were good and the portion was quite large for this. The fried spring roll was unfortunately not good. Was tough and chewy. It might have been sitting for a while because probably wouldn't order that again. Place is clean and was getting busy when we were leaving so I guess we beat the rush. The tables seem a little close together, but again, nothing wrong with it and similar to other Pho restaurants. Came here twice now, the food is good. The broth is sweet and flavourful. You order off the QR code and even though when we went it was cool not a hot day, I started to get very hot halfway through the meal. The broth was piping hot and I noticed a fan running so I guess they don't have AC? You build your own bowl starting at $16, extra for large and XL bowl. It comes with a lot of meat and I love the extra side bowl of noodles ($3) comes with broth and perfect for my kids. We got both fresh roll and spring rolls both times we came and the spring rolls is 3 rolls cut into 2 which is good and filled with meat. Some pho places give you only 2 spring rolls. I really like the the grilled pork fresh rolls, you can tell they just make it and it was very good. Overall, a good pho restaurant but when we got home later, the entire family is chugging water which usually means they use a lot of MSG and salt which made it kind of disappointing. What is happening? The last few times I have been the portions have decreased exponentially. The bowl for the bunbohue is smaller and in the bbh and normal pho there are little to no noodles. My regular and my partner's large had the same amount of noodles. They just had more soup and perhaps a few pieces more of meat... If you used chopsticks to grab some noodles, all the noodles will be gone with two grabs... Sadly the prices have gone up and the portions are a bit too ridiculous lately. Also, not surprisingly, there does not seem to be a long line anymore for dining in. Contrary to popular opinion my dining party and I actually didn't enjoy our experience here as much as other devout fans. I would say this place is a solid 3.5 stars, and this would only be by merit of their food and it's taste. We tried to go here a few times but each time was met with a long line. We finally came on a Monday at 2pm and it was decently empty that a stroller could be brought in, but any other time I would forget about it if you have a young family. Upon entering we were told to sit anywhere and was promptly given tea and ...... Nothing else? Looking around the table there was a small print of paper simply saying "scan me". Fair enough we did and were brought to the web page menu. After a quick browse through we flagged someone down to take our order. Apparently no this isn't how you order, it's all done through the website? Would have been nice if someone explained this or even better, just put some signs up! Not the most user friendly, but we figured it out. Went through the online order, click click and then waited I would say about 5 minutes and the food came out. So the wait was pretty quick at least. The portion size of a regular bowl is a bit on the laughable side compared to other Pho places in York Region. Maybe it's just the bowl and it's an optical illusion but if your a hungry adult you may not be filled. Taste wise though, I do admit the broth was plenty tasty, they used the correct noodles for both our soups (some places just use one type of noodle for all their soups which is incorrect) and ingredient wise was pretty generous. We also ordered a coconut slushie with saigonese coffee. It was blended to perfection and the coffee was strong. After mixing it was a very tasty combination. Having said all that, value wise I wouldnt say this is the best deal in town unfortunately. Prices for a bowl of regular pho starts at $14.75 and an avocado slush starts at $8.75 which is on the more premium side of the scale. Maybe I'm used to pre-covid pricing but to break it all down for 2 small bowls of soup + 1 slushi drink out bill came out to roughly $53 including tax and tip. For the environment, ambience, service? Definitely not worth the price premium. Food wise? There's some dishes that aren't usually served (at least in York Region) so it may appeal to those that want to have more variety. Portion wise though.....you may have pre-eat at burger king if your bringing a date....but then again this place isn't very impressive if your bringing a date either. I would come back again to try some other dishes, but generally I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this place, nor is it worth waiting more then 5 minutes to be seated if they are busy then just go elsewhere. read more

I didnt realize that my last review for this restaurant was back when it was still at its old location. I am so glad that they moved! The parking situation has improved significantly. All their food has been spectacular and consistent for every visit that I am here. You do get a 5% cash discount so I encourage you to ditch that of credit card of yours and pay in cash. I have tried their pho, vermicelli and crispy chicken wings. There has never been a bad experience, so I would say anything on their menu is worth a try. I do advise others that come to join their yelp waitlist. It is pretty accurate and it helps so that you don't have to wait for too long around the doorway. It does get pretty packed. read more

Came here on a Sunday for a late lunch with mr.Tran. The restaurant wasn't packed as we missed their busy times, but there were still people. I ordered the special pho Dac biet (assorted meat in beef broth with fresh noodles), and mr.Tran for himself a rice plate with shrimp wrapped in beancurd, and beef short rib. We also got fresh shrimp and pork rolls as an appetizer, and a coconut shake. The appetizer came first, and it was good. Nothing great and nothing bad. The coconut shake was really good though, the ones we usually have, have it a little water down compared to this coconut shake, so we really enjoyed that. My pho came out and it was piping hot which I appreciated. I added in my healthy greens (basil, lime, and beansprouts with a little touch of pickled peppers). First sip, the broth had very deep beef flavour. It was not salty, the noodles had a bounce of chewiness to them, and the meats were generous and delectable. mr.Tran rice plate was underwhelming presentation wise. It's not what I'm used to in Markham Vietnamese establishments. The food on his plate was okay, but he wished he got pho as well when he tried mine, and saw what he got after (haha, wife knows best)! I was not able to finish my pho, so mr. Tran happily finished it for me as his rice plate portion was smaller and I knew he could still eat. Would have give a minus ~5 stars! The service was extremely disappointing and awful! We visited the restaurant on a snowy day and with specifically requested that one of our pho dishes be served with noodles and beef on the side, while just only the soup be in a separate bowl, would that be very troubling or difficult? We understand that this may be an unusual request, but in other Vietnamese restaurants we have visited, they have happily accommodated it. However, the server who came up to us after we placed our dine-in online order, with an extremely terrible attitude. She kept rolled her eyes and discriminated against our request. We were simply asking for a bowl of hot soup in a separate bowl and the rest of the dish on the side, and yet we had to endure her awful attitude. To make matters worse, the restaurant was not busy at all, with only 2-3 tables occupied in the afternoon. Despite this, the girl refused to fulfill our small request. We had ordered nearly a hundred dollars on our meal for just the two of us, but she showed no respect or care to our business. The worst ending part was she wrapped with the extremely rude phrases Her response was simply, "Go ahead and leave!" Maybe it's system error or something, there are stuff that are not on the QR code menu and need to order through a staff. Ok no biggie. I think what annoys us more is perhaps the cleanliness of the restaurant. We were early and could pick wherever we want to sit. At the time we already saw many flies. Then we sat down at a table and realized it looks unwiped. So we had to move to the next table. If we are the first people who entered, the dirty table would have been from last night? And then throughout the meal there's just so many flies that kept disturbing us, making the whole dining experience unpleasant. When we brought up this flies concern to the staff she just said yeah this year we saw a lot, not sure why. Hummmm, at least a "we are working on it"? We haven't been to their first location on the FMP side but found the restaurant to be clean with an easy to use ordering system via QR code. The Pho Restaurant is a very popular spot for pho in Markham. Their newish location across from FMP is more spacious than their previous. What to order: Spring Rolls 4/5 - good crunch coating, nice amount of filling with the mush texture I associate vietnamese spring rolls with. Well balanced. Pho 4/5 - classic rich broth and nice portion. A bit expensive but you can't go wrong with the amount of meat they do give you. The pho special with everyone is my go to. Bun Bo Hue 5/5 - I find that their bun bo hue is really flavourful, with a hint of shrimp and subtle spiciness coming through. I really enjoy this overall, and it's actually not a lot of noodles compared to the amount of meat you get! The maybe dishes: Bun (Rice Vermicelli) 3/5 - wasn't a bad dish per se, but I do prefer my vermicelli to have Shredded veggies more so I can mix it all together. Another consideration is their meat was not as char grilled and more so a pan fry take on it. Overall it's good but can be better. Busy bustling pho spot for a reason! Fresh noodles are offered here, which I really appreciate. And their pho is just loaded full of meat! Rare beef is excellent and the tendon nice and tender. Broth is a bit more heavily seasoned than I like, but that's the only slight downside. Also tried the Bo La Lop, which is on the sweeter side but I recommend it. They have a self serving iPad waitlist station, and ordering of food is online via a QR scan. Not much interaction with the servers so those technically challenged beware. read more
