We found this place in the mouth of world! And we have been here for many times! We loved their rice vermicelli, and their pork is the best for me! States are very nice and patient. The seats are not crowded but it's fine for a quick lunch.
Pho Tai Bac is an excellent place to go for pho in Richmond Hill. They have a steady flow of customers and delivery orders so your food is always fresh.
Nice Vietnamese pho restaurant, service is very fast, very busy place, always has a lineup. Foods are very good quality, with good portion. Inside is cozy with very lively atmosphere.
Decent Pho spot in Richmond Hill. I personally prefer the grilled beef and pho from other places but this was okay for a second choice. Quite busy, loud and packed.
I've eaten here twice. It's okay. Positives: - the prices are reasonable - portions are big (most people don't finish the large or even the medium size pho) - service is fast - an appetizer with shrimp had a great dipping sauce - authentic Vietnamese food - adequate parking in this strip mall Negatives - the pho is bland unless you add sriracha sauce - both the pho with chicken and beef had rubbery pieces - the light colour of the beef balls looked like dog food - the servers are not friendly - the décor is very basic - they don't accept credit cards - the first time we went, there was a long line. There was no hostess to explain that we had to write our names down on a clipboard at the front of the line. So people who came after us, got a table before us.
This is our go to Vietnamese restaurant during weekends. There are so many choices on the menu ( totally 7-8 pages) their pho soup is really tasty, the beef is very tender. The grilled meat vermicelli is also very flavorful. The price is unbeatable, there is always a line up on weekends. But the staff is very efficient and helpful. The wait is always shorter than we expected. The store is medium sized with traditional decoration. We highly recommend it. give it a try when you are in the area.
This used to be our go-to place for pho but then COVID happened and other places opened up and they became our new go-to for pho, so it's been a good 3 years since our last visit. Upon entering a few things were different. It was more open ie. fewer tables making the place more roomy, the floors might have been redone as they were cleaner. Not sure but they might have changed owners as well? There was a short wait and we were handed a menu and order sheet so that we could start ordering. I thought this was pretty smart as we could hand over our order once we were seated eliminating any additional wait time for food. However if you don't know what you want it's okay to take the menu to your table and continue to look. Menu was slightly different and had all the expected, pho, bun, rice dishes etc. Pho comes in 3 sizes starting with small at under 12 bucks. It looked like all the rice dishes were $13.50. Service was okay....we ordered 2 bowls of pho and fresh grilled chicken rice rolls. The pho came first and then we saw our rolls. The employee approaches our table but only to hand us our sprouts and sees we already have them. I tell her the fresh rolls were ours but she shakes her head and hands them to another table and they look completely bewildered but take them anyhow. The whole time the host at the door is communicating with her telling her they were ours...what does she do? She takes them from the other table, goes back to the kitchen and a few minutes later returns with the same plate of rolls and mumbles sorry. Flavour of the broth was okay, more oily than we would like, you could see the oil floating. The meat was really fatty and you really only got a couple of pieces of the raw beef. Chicken in the spring rolls could have been better. More lettuce than protein. Was an okay experience. I think we will stick with our new go-to's.

I find myself thinking about the soup base often, rich, flavorful, and so so so good. Soup on a rainy cold day, soup on a winter day. Pho from Pho Tai Bac. I am basing my review strictly on the pho. I usually order the house special, and it's bursting with flavour. The beef, beef ball, tendon, tripe, rice noodles & all the goodness. Topped with onions, green onions, and you're good to go. Great portions. Their soup is so flavorful you'd ruin it if you added any other sauces. Enjoy the soup!!! Usually I can't finish a whole bowl, but every time I've been here, I've finished all the pho! So with this being said, come here & enjoy it. Service/efficiency- I've come here during busy hours and off peak hours. And they are great are moving the line along. Pushing out orders/taking orders, fast, great. Tip: Cash/debit only. *

A great number of pho, bun, rice and specialty dishes to choose from. The fish sauce rice is super garlicy and delicious. The pho bowls you can have it with or without ginger. And they are real rough chopped pieces of ginger inside your bowl. Great service, clean restaurant. Highly recommended!
Quick & efficient. Hits the spot everytime! Your one stop shop for all things Vietnamese dishes. Whether you're looking for pho bo, bun bo hue, banh cuon, bun rieu, rice dishes or vermicelli, they have it all! The staff are friendly and food comes out quick. Always have to start the meal with some fried spring rolls and banh cuon. Spring rolls are nicely fried and crispy with perfectly seasoned fish sauce for dipping. Banh cuon is also a must get, since it's not at all Vietnamese restaurants. So when I see this on the menu I always order it. The banh cuon here always hits the spot. Soft freshly steamed rice rolls stuffed with minced pork and wood ear fungus, layered with herbs, cucumber, pickled carrots and fried shallots. Follow these appies with a specialty pho (mix of all different cuts of beef) for the finishing touch. A perfect blend of beefy broth noodles with rare beef, tendon, tripe, beef brisket topped with green onions - herbs and bean sprouts on the side. Nice deep flavours, perfect salty levels and hearty meat. The best type of noodle soup for the winter to warm the soul. I would consider this as the best winter soul food.
This place is located in a plaza. It was a good size store, about 10 tables available for seating. The service was very fast. I came in the morning right before noon. Many items are repeated, just the difference for the soup noodle is rare or well done beef. You have all your typical items at a Vietnamese restaurant. My soup was lightly flavoured, but I'd like to say that it was the morning and the soup didn't get enough time to brew. The size portions are appropriate, you get what you expect. The interior is simple, not a lot of decorations, but lots of space between tables. I hope to come back perhaps later in the day to give this place another try.
In a small plaza opposite Hillcrest Mall. Even at 9pm on Friday, they were quite busy. We ordered a Pork Chop w/ rice and Shrimp Noodle. The taste was quite good for both meals. A few minor comments: pork chop was not burnt and not full of fat which is good. The broth was a bit "light" as opposed to some places where they are much more heavy (we liked it this way more). All in all a good experience and we will be back!
HAD TO THROW AWAY AND WASTED OVER $50. This review is for the take out experience only. I have dined here a few times and their food is decent but the take out experience is the complete opposite. That is where they don't care about the customer and take the opportunity to get rid of their spoiled and rotten vegetables that have been sitting too long. The Thai Basil leaves have turned dull and black and the bean sprouts have turned brown. We thought it might still be okay but after adding it into the beef noodle soup and trying it, we realized the vegetables taste moldy and have a strong sour smell. We had to throw away our dinner after taking one bite. They wouldn't serve these rotten vegetables in front of a dine-in customer but how dare they serve this to a take out customer? Trying to save a bit of money? How about loss of revenue from future take outs from this customer or others who read this review? Was it worth it? Should just throw away spoiled food instead of risking a bad review that can impact your bottom line, resulting in bigger losses than the few dollars they were trying to save. On top of this, the fish sauce that came with the deep fried spring rolls was not packaged properly. Despite careful handling and transportation of the food, when I got home, ALL of the fish sauce was gone and the deep fried spring rolls were completely soggy. How was this possible? I can only conclude they didn't close the lid for the fish sauce properly, threw the sauce into the container and saw the fish sauce spill onto the food, and couldn't care less about it. That is pure laziness. This experience will deter me from going back to dine in anytime soon but next time I go back to dine in, I will care less about tipping too. Everything I ordered was completely ruined.

Out of all three pho places I've eaten at this one rises to the top. Large portions, Pho broth is flavorful & pipping hot; broth always filled to the bowl brim (amazing how the staff can serve it to you without spilling a drop), generous with the meat, many assorted meat combos to choose from. I personally go for the raw beef so I can control how long the meat is cooked in the hot broth. Small size bowl is a generous portion, medium size bowl can be shared between 2 customers, can't imagine what the large bowl portion could feed. Beware, weekend lunch lines can be long but worth the wait. Staff are fast and efficient. read more

Rating: 3/5 Pho Dac Biet (Restaurant House Special) - Small Rare beef flank, brisket, soft tendon, tripe & beef balls Soup is nice, not overly salty, good beef flavor, very comforting. I usually get a medium but I knew my wife wouldn't finish her food so here I am. Rating: 3/5 Crispy Chicken Wings with butter - Small Wings shrank from previous visits, a little plain but it is what it is. Crispy enough but the portion is kinda small no lie. Rating: 3/5 Bun Bo Hue (One Size) Hue style beef, pork & blood pudding w/ noodle in soup Rating: 3/5 Nice color broth, salty, rich, bloody, delicious. Lime cuts the fat which is nice, comes with your usual garnishes of thai basil, lime, bean sprouts, cilantro, purple cabbage leaves, mint. Ambience: Comforting, reminds me of all the pho spots I've gone to in Ontario, Orange County, feels like home to me. For all this it was $40ish, not bad for 2 apps and 2 mains. Usual Order: Bun Bo Hue & Pho Dac Biet w/ fresh shrimp & pork rolls as an appy. Come for the no frills food reminiscent of the west end Vietnamese joints on Jane street in North York. Great Vietnamese place! This location is actually quite crowded and popular. Special shout out to the staff member who was wearing a fantastically eccentric matching set! We got the well done flank & chicken rice noodle soup, grilled chicken & steamed egg with steamed rice, and jackfruit shake with condensed milk. The pho and rice sets were very standard. I wouldn't say it's particularly better than other restaurants, but it's good, nonetheless. Can't go wrong with the classics. This is one of the few locations I've seen the steamed egg as an option though! Very tasty if you haven't had Vietnamese steamed egg casserole before. The jackfruit shake was made with real jackfruit (none of that powdered stuff) and tasted just as fresh! Amazing drink, would recommend! If you like jackfruit, this drink is for you! If you haven't tried jackfruit before, this will probably make you a believer. read more
PHO TAI BAC . . I've been on the search for the best Vietnamese restaurant in York region for a while now and Pho Tai Bac is definitely a contender. We arrived just before 12pm on a Sunday and got a seat right away. They have a extensive menu with tons of pho, rice, vermicelli options as well as some dishes that you don't see often at most Viet restaurants, like Bánh cuốn and Bánh xèo. . . Bánh xèo 3/5 This was my first time trying this and it's like a omlette/pancake with pork, shrimp and bean sprouts as filling. The batter is on the sweeter side which according to my Viet boyfriend is not traditional. It also comes with a plate of veggies for you to wrap it. . . Bánh cuốn (s) 4/5 This was also my first time trying Bánh cuốn and I was pleasantly surprised with how flavourful it was. The small portion comes with five rolls and veggies. Sprinkle some fried onions on a roll, layer some veggies and dip it in fish sauce and you got the perfect bite. I highly recommend this dish. . . Pho Dac Biet (M) 4/5 We ordered a medium size to share and the portion was perfect. There was also depth in the broth which some other restaurants in the area lack. . . Cà phê sữa đá 3.75/5 Nothing special about the coffee but it was good! . . Overall we really enjoyed the dishes here and will definitely be returning for more! read more
Where has this pho place been hiding all my life! We had to stop by for a super early lunch (they opened at 10am) and I was surprised there were a few tables already filled. Guess it's never too early for pho! I really like how this place has the old school pho vibes with the traditional green chopsticks and red plates. I've been searching for a place that does the beef wrapped in a betal leaf and so happy they serve it here! I ordered it with the vermicelli and my partner got their signature pho with the option to add ginger (havent seen this option before). I got a taste of the broth really enjoyed it. Hands down this place is better than alot of the more fancier pho places around the gta. read more

Who doesn't love a positive, updated review? It's been a while since I last visited and I am pleased to say, they have some pho-bulous pho! My partner and I dropped by for dinner and both ordered a medium bowl of rare beef and beef balls pho. Everything from the beef to the soup tasted delicious, so delicious that my partner slurped up the last drop of soup in his bowl... And then had some of mine. Would definitely visit again when we're in the area. We might even order a large each next time! read more
Whether it's a windy winter day, a cold rainy night, or just a random craving, VIETNAMESE PHO (topped with rare beef, well-done flank brisket, soft tendon, beef tripe, and beef balls, also known as No.42) paired with SHRIMP AND PORK FRESH ROLLS (No.3) will always be a comfort food of mine. I've tried my fair share of Vietnamese restaurants, but Pho Tai Bac is my favorite place to come back to. The highlight of any pho is the quality of the broth, which can be found here. Served at a piping hot temporary so you can cook your rare beef and bean sprouts, their soup has that rich, layered, and cozy blend of flavors. The portions are also generous, meaning there's a good amount of meat to pair with your noodles for each bite. As for the fresh rolls, the shrimp and pork are my go-to as this is the perfect combination for texture and taste. I love how light this dish is. As a perfect pairing, they serve their fresh rolls with a sweet and savory sauce, topped with crushed peanuts and pickled radish - I love! This time around, I tried doing takeout from their restaurant for the first time. I called to place my order got pickup and was told there would be a wait time of 20 mins. This was a spot on estimate! I got there just in time, so I could feel that my soup was boiling hot upon receiving it. Unfortunately though, by the time it got home, it still wasn't hot enough to cook my rate beef. Easy solve, I just dunked it in a cup of boiling water before adding it to my bowl, or you could opt out of the rare beef to be safe. Everything was packed super well. The plastic container for the soup was completely leak proof, and the noodles and meat packed in another styrofoam container were done so neatly as well. read more
It's my first time here post covid and it looks like they spaced out their tables more. They have also updated their menu too (most items are still there though). The portions are still huge and delicious. They also make a really good durian smoothie. We ordered a XL pho and small banh cuon for two people and we had leftovers for the next day. read more
Very friendly staff with moderate amount of tables - may need to wait during peak dining hours but the food is delicious every time you visit. The broth is just right and the spring rolls are very fresh and crunchy. Servers are very attentive despite how busy it normally is. Definitely nice to do some shopping at Hillcrest Mall and stop for some good pho at this location! read more

Love this place! The pho is amazing and so tasty. Service is fast and friendly. We usually go on Thursday. The place fills up fast. Busy place with happy customers. Staff is super accommodating. Maybe not the most fancy decor, but I'm there for the tasty food not the furniture. If you haven't been, give them a chance. You'll be happy you did! read more

The pho is pretty good. The other stuff, not so much. They don't do small pho anymore. Medium is still a decent size, but it seems to be the old small size. That said, the pho is still good, with a rich & complex soup. Shrimp pancake was thin & crispy, not chewy at all. The shrimp was big. It was decent. Vietnamese pancake (banh xeo) was so-so. It wasn't very crispy & indeed the inside was a bit mushy. It was served with pickles which were a bit dry. The durian shake had coarse ground ice but a pretty rich taste. On a previous occasion I had the spring rolls. They were barely OK, with too much yam, and fried in oil that'd been reused too many times. They came with pickles and, for some reason, some noodles. read more

5 stars in my books! Love the fresh rolls, avocado shake and good portions for meat and vermicelli !! Nomzzz i would love to try their coffee based drinks next time :) Their peanut sauce for the fresh rolls are BOMB!!! DELICIOUS. Quick efficient no fuss service! read more
Rating: 3.5/5 A good place for some authentic pho in Richmond Hill. Environment: Looks a bit rundown and could definitely use some improvement on their cleanliness, especially the washroom. Food: lots of food choices on their menu. With such an extensive menu, there's something for everyone - even if one isn't a fan of rice noodles. I must say, they give a generous amount of meat for the price you pay - other Pho places serve only a few pieces of meat. Prices: Decent and competitive prices. Their rice noodles comes in sizes from S to XL. read more
