Bomb noodles. We will be back…read more My fiancée and I love spicy food. We also love noodles. So guess what we got at Noodle Legend - the Feast Seafood Noodles Topped with Spicy Oil! The dish comes with a thick flat super chewy ribbon noodle. It doesn't look like a big portion, but the noodles never seem to end! We particularly loved the aromatic garlicy spicy oil, which was full of umami and slightly sweet. It coated the noodles perfectly without making it seem like a noodle soup. The spice doesn't hit you at first, but sure enough it comes back with a vengeance. Be cautious if you decide to up the spice levels! It comes with quite a bit of seafood - scallops, baby abalone and crawfish tails. We've never really had crawfish tails in Chinese cuisine, so this was quite interesting. Make sure to suck on the tail before you de-shell to really get all the umami, and then dip the tail back into the spicy oil for a burst of flavour. Surprisingly, the chewy texture of the seafood complemented the noodles really well. Customer service here is impeccable. We saw nearby tables with phone holders, which we suspect you can request if you want to eat and watch your videos in peace. The staff also hand out individually packaged plastic bibs and gloves to avoid the oil from slashing onto your clothes and will top up your napkin supply without asking. The restaurant has a couple of tables but noticeably, some long benches that run throughout. We were sat in the middle, and were asked kindly by the Owner to move to the end of the table once a bigger party arrived. We had no issues with this, but the Owner decided to give us free pop and apologized for the inconvenience. So nice! Little surprise - there's a Beef Noodle Special after 8:30pm on Monday-Thursday. "Authentic hand pulled noodles in slow-simmered beef bone broth". Sounds like music to my ears - can't wait to come back and try this one out.

They have rotisserie chicken and chicken skewers that can be served with a choice of two sides. I think there were at least a dozen choices for sides. Whether it's the sides or the main course (the chicken) the staff told me they are very passionate about fresh food. They're even passionate about fresh oil for the fries, which are also fresh-cut. The fries were indeed terrific and I enjoyed dipping them in the tzaziki sauce I asked for. Since I was new, the exceptionally friendly staff allowed to to try a couple samples of other sides, such as the tomato and avocado salad and the roasted cauliflower. And my second proper side was a fresh salad with a house-made vinaigrette. I also ordered the lentil soup which I loved. And I went with the skewers for my chicken. My wife was also there and she went with the rotisserie chicken which she said was exceptional. The prices are really good too. They're also known for their sandwiches which are pressed, so maybe I'll give that a shot when I'm next in the area. I'm a bit sad I'm not often in this area, but it may be for the best - as I'd probably find myself here too much.

The yelp and google fam did me right by giving this place a great review. I honestly didn't read any reviews, I just saw the 5 star and I was so pleasantly surprised to see that this place is a Korean owned mom and pop shop with the NICEST owners. Their kitchen caught my eye as I stood at the front counter. It displayed well used traditional korean cookware with a large wok as a center piece. This place isn't fancy but it has an adorable quaint charm to it. I didn't know what to order so I asked for their recommendation. The pop of the shop is so nice and explained everything on the menu to me with an understandable pleasant Korean accent. He was especially proud of their fishball soup that comes with the meal and he had good reason to be! After ordering in person he allowed me to wait at my car as he brought the meal when it was ready. It was only about 5 mins wait he came out and I met him half way saying one of 2 Korean phrases I know "!" and he was so happy as we bowed to each other after the exchange. It put a big smile on my face too lol. I decided on spicy chicken cup bap and omg when I got home I was so pleasantly surprised by the smells and flavors. I noticed I couldn't smell the food on the car ride home but when I opened up the package and spread out the spoils on my counter all the delicious aromas invaded my nose. The soup had the sharpest and alluring smell. It's a clear soup that reminded me of the Chinese soups I grew up consuming after a meal and it made my mouth water. I'm surprised I restrained myself long enough to have even taken a photo for this review. For $11 you get a nice portion of spicy gochujang chicken with arugula salad, tomatoes, japchae and rice at the bottom which was necessary to soak up the chicken's spicy sweet sauce! I was actually so happy eating it. The rice was cooked perfectly. The main dish paired with the pickled veggies and soothing fishball soup is perfect! So many different flavors, all very intense and all complimenting each other. You just kind of keeping going around eating main, soup, pickled veggies, smiling, and repeating. So much love and care was put into this meal, you really can't help but smile and appreciate it. TIP: You can order by phone. Their online menu is limited so I'd recommend calling! A couple of Wednesdays ago, after work, I had an early dinner at this Pho Anh Vu on Highway 7 in Vaughan, between Keele and Jane streets. I have passed by this eatery a number of times since it opened. It was time to check it out. This location used to be Veg Italiano. There used to be a pho place a few doors down. It is now a Turkish eatery. This small plaza does have some turnover. However, the Turkish place and this eatery have been here for at least a couple of years. I hope they remain. I got here at around 3:30 pm. I had no problem finding a parking spot. I backed into a vacant one and walked in. I was immediately greeted by a male staffer. I got to sit wherever I wanted. I chose a booth by the window. I got menus to peruse. There were two other tables with customers. It was nice. Hot tea came to me with two cups. The hot tea was exceptionally piping hot. I used both cups to pour tea into them and let them cool. I was ready to order. It took a long time to get a server to come over. The woman at the counter noticed that I was ready and flagged the male server to take my order. I got these items: - Soda lemonade - Grilled chicken on vermicelli with spring rolls My soda lemonade came first. It was fizzy, cold, and refreshing. I loved it so much. I would get it again in a heartbeat. It also helped me down my food as I waited for my hot tea to cool down. When my tea was finally at a temperature that wouldn't scorch my tongue, it was fragrant and yummy. I loved the grilled chicken. It was flavourful and grilled to perfection. The vermicelli was generous and yummy. The spring rolls were stuffed and crispy. This dish came with dipping sauce that I ended up pouring on everything. I feel that I needed more of it. I paid at the counter with a debit card. I tapped and was good. This eatery got busy after 4 pm. My guess is that everyone came to watch the Canada-Switzerland FIFA game. It got tense in the place. Eventually, Canada lost this game. I used the washroom before I left. It was beautiful and clean. It's a decent location that serves good food. The tea was too hot. Service was relatively fast despite it being very busy. Team was friendly and knowledgeable. However, the second time i was there, my bun bo hue toke way longer to arrive, the table was halfway done there meals when my bowl finally arrived. A little bit of communication would have been nice, just got the "it's coming" the two times I asked about where it was, no timeline or anything. Spring rolls were kind of bland, no real flavour - however the crunchiness hits the spot. Bun bo hue when it arrives is truly amazing! The perfect amount of spice - makes you sweat a bit without killing you - you can still taste everything you're eating! I do prefer Toronto's Pho Anh Vu over the Vancouver location, somehow the Bun Bo Hue doesn't hit the same over here.

The restaurant is located in a strip plaza tucked in a sea of commercial/industrial buildings near the corner of Steeles and Keele. On the inside, it feels like you've been warped into some exotic location. I really didn't expect that based on the exterior of the restaurant. And cooking and serving you are servers (I assume the owners and family) who could be your grandparents and great grand parents' age. A special item that was written on the chalk board, called Bun Mam really caught my eye. The grandma asked me, "have you had it before?". I shook my head and she said it is going to be fishy. I responded with an alright. So what it is exactly is a bowl of rice vermicelli in a fermented fish soup filled with seafood and pork. I've never had this noodle before, but I think I've eaten enough Asian dishes from different Asian countries to have a bearing on what it should be like. I'd say A+ for attempt since I've never seen places in Toronto make it. But, I have the feeling that what I've tried is far from what it should taste like in Vietnam, partially because of the limitations in ingredients and partially due to an attempt by the cook to tone down the pungent nature of the dish. Here's my general take: They used frozen fish, clearly they've attempted to steer away from the cheapest fish possible, which is a good thing. Nonetheless the fish still would not give the soup the natural sweetness that it requires. The shrimp was also of the frozen variety. Nothing special. The eggplant I thought was an odd topping, but I checked online and it seemed to be a normal ingredient for this dish.. I didn't like the eggplant since it was a bit too chewy, especially the skin portion. I think the eggplant can definitely be prepared a lot better. The star of the show was actually the pork. It was marinated with some sort of fermented sauce. However, I don't think it's what it should be. From what I know, the pork should be like a roasted pork with crunchy skin. As for the soup, it smelled a bit fishy upon initial inspection. When it came to the taste, I personally thought it was a bit on the sweeter end. I think it could use a bit more sourness and fermented taste. It's not great, but it's not bad. I would not order it again, nor recommend it. But I think there's enough here where I would come back to try something that is a bit more typical.
