Pad Thai: The noodles were a bit too soggy for my liking and had the ketchup taste which I wasn't a fan of. However, the portions were quite generous for one big meal or two reasonably size meals. The food is a bit on the average side, I wouldn't go out of my way for it. However my friend had a better experience with their non-noodle dish. They are running buy one get one free promotions on their chicken curry and shrimp pad Thai on uber eats lately. It's really good deal. The food quality is decent too. I tried both dishes. The chicken curry is okay but not spicy at all. The shrimp pad Thai is one of the best I've ever had. Usually you need to look for shrimps in noodles, but I was literally looking for noodles within the dozen shrimps! They are being very generous in the portion. read more

We are glad to find a solid Thai restaurant in the neighborhood. This seems like a popular place, as the take out orders were non-stop as we enjoyed our dinner. Staff are friendly and the regulars seem to know them well, stopping for chats and catching up like friends. Prices are good and portions are generous. We had our usual litmus test dishes of House Pad Thai and Basil Chicken with rice. We threw in an appetizer of fried tofu to change it up. The Pad Thai was on the sour side, but it still delicious with chunks of chicken and shrimp. My partner enjoyed the Basil Chicken, claiming it's the best that he's had in a while (extra star for that!). The fried tofu was as expected, but the peanut sauce brought it to the next level. Food as a whole could be better. Do not order any spring rolls/summer/cold rolls from here. The veggies in the cold rolls were not fresh at all. They were visibly rotting. Spring rolls were very obviously purchased in bulk and then deep fried. Soups were okay. Curries and noodle dishes were just okay. Overall they didn't have a lot of depth in flavour. Some of these are comparable to what you'd get at Thai Express. Service could be better. The staff don't really talk much and they weren't particularly friendly either. I would not come back. To make a long story shorter, I had a Groupon for a restaurant in Thornhill. I couldn't use it in time, as there were dining restrictions that didn't work with my schedule. I was able to trade it in for Thai Room, which was more flexible and was on my way home from work. I stopped by after work on Friday. The restaurant is located in a plaza with Shoppers Drug Mart and more, on the southeast corner of Dufferin Street and Steeles Avenue West. Thai Room is further south by the drug store. Parking in front of the eatery is at a premium. I parked by SDM and walked over. I was immediately greeted by Thai statues, followed by a friendly woman when I walked in. I was seated promptly and got two menus. The smaller one was the drinks menu. The other was all food. I ordered the Thai spring rolls (pho pia phak), Thai Room's royal pineapple fried rice signature version (comes with chicken and shrimp), and a Diet Coke. I mentioned that I had a Groupon to my server. She calculated the total cost of my meal and came back saying that it was good. I liked the attention to detail already. My Diet Coke came in a can, with a glass filled with ice and a lemon wedge. Nice! My Thai spring rolls came next, accompanied by plum sauce. They were hot off the deep fryer! They were okay. I'm not a big fan of bamboo shoots, which dampened the taste for me. However, I liked the crispness of each bite. The plum sauce was light and perfect. My pineapple fried rice with chicken and shrimp came out next. The portion was generous! I had to box up half of it to take home, as my stomach felt like it was about to explode as I wolfed it down. The fried rice was delicious. I got huge chunks of white chicken meat and whole shrimp. You also got a huge slices of orange and cucumber, and large lemon and tomato wedges. I loved it! My server was so nice. I asked whether I needed to go up to the counter with my phone to have the Groupon scanned. She was okay going up with my phone, if I was comfortable having her take it. I was game. She took my phone holding both her palms out and returned it to me the same way. The respect was sweet. Unfortunately, when it came time to pay with the machine with debit, I did my usual thing of adding a percentage tip to how much I owed. It was a percentage against the total after the Groupon was taken into account. So, I ended up giving her a $0.50 tip. I was embarrassed! When my server came back, I explained the horrible tip. I asked whether she could break my $5 bill, so I could tip her properly. She was great and actually thanked me. I got loonies and toonies back. I got to tip her well. I wanted to use the women's washroom. I asked if I could leave my boxed-up pineapple fried rice on the counter. My server was accommodating and took care of it. The washroom is a single stall. It was spacious and clean. I thanked all staff there. I took my box of yumminess and left the restaurant happy. I had my remaining fried rice the following day. It was equally as yummy. Anyhow, the (take out) service was super-friendly and the food was great. Had the Coconut Lemongrass Chicken Soup, and another version of that same soup for my vegetarian daughter. It is unfortunate because I've been here a few times to eat in, but the last two times I have ordered online it has been horrible experiences. The first time they didn't get my order right. Second time I did an online order and received a confirmation email. When I showed up to pick up 7 meals for my team, they said they hadn't even got my order, although I had got a confirmation email. And the food was not ready. I had to wait 20 minutes for food. When I got back to the office we opened up the food bags, we realized they had forgot one meal. When I called them they actually had the audacity to ask me to come back to get it and at this point I said no it had to be delivered. I got no apology, no discount, no coupon for next time, nothing. We were craving Thai food while we were in the area so we decided to give this place a shot. The location is easy to miss. It's near the back of a plaza beside a TD bank. The interior is pretty clean and modern, especially compared to some of the other options in this area. We came on a Tuesday evening at 6:30PM and the place was almost empty. There were two customers waiting on take out orders, and an uber eats driver picking up food. When we arrived and said we were dining in, they had to brush dust off the menu before giving it to us! Despite their online takeout menu having good value combos, their dine-in menu doesn't. Knowing that they prioritize takeout customers over dine-in, I wouldn't come back to eat at the restaurant, which seems like a waste given their nice decor. We only got a Chicken pad thai in the end, which tasted okay but weren't anything special. The noodles were overcooked and practically falling apart when picked up. For $12.99, it's not the cheapest option for padthai and it's definitely not the best tasting either. Maybe I'll try ordering their takeout combos in the future. read more

The sauce is a bit tangy and sweeter than I am used to and was not to my liking. Honestly the best thing about this place was the atmosphere and service. We ordered classic pad Thai with shrimp and chicken, veggie appetizer platter, beef and broccoli, and green curry soup. The chicken and beef were over cooked, chewy to be on the polite side. The shrimp was not bad probably the best part. Noodles had too much sauce on them but had good flavor. The spring rolls and fried tofu was decent. For some reason tofu came in the noodles even tho we didn't order it which I wouldn't complain because hey free food, however it was tasteless and again very chewy. Samosas were decent but forgettable. The curry soup was my moms favourite so I can't complain.. but in the end I would not go back here. The chef maybe should taste a sample before serving it. The issue might be because a TON of Uber eats/Skip the dishes were coming in for orders on a Friday night however I still believe they should be consistent. Red curry chicken lacked the aroma and tasted weak compared to Bow Thai (Leslie and Sheppard). Roti 2 pcs was good but again not as fragrant Crispy spring rolls - good but not something I'd rave about Thai spicy noodle was ok - close to Thai Express' pad Thai in terms of taste Servings are generally smaller compared to Bow Thai. I came here with a few of my friends to catch up on each other's lives. We came in at around 2PM today and there wasn't any problem being seated. I got the green curry with vegetables and tofu + coconut rice, while my friends got the Thai chili chicken, the Thai eggplant and the "Oodles of Noodles" dish. Out of the four, I would say the best dish would be the chili chicken. They gave a large quantity, plus it wasn't TOO spicy to eat. The service was attentive and the restaurant was clean. It's been awhile since I enjoyed something new and I ordered Spicy Noodle Chicken after trying some samosas not too long ago. Fresh ingredients exceeded expectations. I found it to be very flavourful and delicious but not as spicy as I had anticipated. Of course I could see the chilli peppers on top but I think my expectations are extremely high with regards to spicy so I luckily have homemade hot sauce in the office at all times. Good place to dine in the area. The curry pad-thai is great (haven't had a bad dish yet), the prices are fair, portions are big and the service is usually pretty good. I think they may do more takeout than eat-in so it's a great place to check out because they're rarely busy. It is also a bit low-profile. This makes for a much better experience than Cora's nearby for example which is always a complete zoo. My only real gripe is the selection. I've tried everything on the menu I'm interested in already which is the fish and vegetarian options. But that's probably why the food is good: they focus on a high quality but more limited menu instead of trying to offer everything. read more

Worse than Thai Express but 1.5x more expensive. I ordered the Avocado with veggies in peanut sauce and the green curry chicken. In the veggie dish, there were only small chunks of avocado, maybe enough to add up to one slice. The sauce was also not peanut-y at all, and tasted more like sweet and sour sauce. It wasn't even a good sweet and sour sauce, which would have made the dish bearable. The end result was an unenjoyable attempt to feed myself, 100% not authentic and would not recommend anyone to endure. The green curry chicken was pretty bland, and extra heavy on the coconut milk. My family and I have been customers of Thai Room at Dufferin and Steeles for years, and increased our orders from them during the Covid-19 lockdowns. We instantly fell in love with the restaurant as it was delicious and extremely reasonably priced. We noticed, though, that the food's presentation and taste differed each time we ordered it; and, the more frequently we ordered, the more we noticed the difference. My husband's pad thai literally tastes different every time we order. Sometimes the fish is very bright red in colour; sometimes it is a bland brown. Sometimes it tastes more salty; sometimes it tastes very ketchup-y. My dish, the oodles oodles, which is not advertised as being spicy, came differently every time, too. Sometimes it was very saucy; other times not. Sometimes it was very full of vegetables; other times not. The most frustrating difference was that, despite me confirming each time that I did not want a spicy dish, the dish often came spicy. When my husband or I called the restaurant to complain, usually about this dish, they would stubbornly give us excuses. Some (of the many) examples include: "The dish is not spicy, we never make it spicy"; "The receipt says it's not spicy, we didn't make it spicy"; "We could make you another one but it would taste the same". Not only did they make excuses, they were very rude with their responses. We were told once that the manager would contact us, and when he did, he was exceptionally rude and snappy. Got delivery with skip the dishes because I was craving pad Thai and it was the only Thai place around my area that had free delivery over $20. The food was decent, we got the Chicken Pad Thai and Mango Chicken. The Pad Thai seemed to have a different kind of sauce so it wasn't the usual taste. It was a little more sweet and sour than normal. It was also kind of pricey for the two items, came to a total of almost $37 but had $7 off my purchase. We came to the restaurant on a Sunday at 1:45pm so it wasn't busy. Or it could have been the weather because today was super icy, rainy and below zero factor wind chill feeling like -10 degrees weather!! Our goal was to be fed well and stay warm and this place is pretty decent! We ordered vegetarian appetizer platter ($16.99), vegetables hot and sour soup ($6.49), Shrimp oodles of noodles ($14.99), coconut mango chicken ($14.99) and steamed rice ($1.99). The vegetarian appetizer platter is big enough to share amongst 3 people. I really liked the samosa, fresh spring rolls, and the mango salad. The appetizer came with two sauces, one plum sauce and a peanut sauce. Didn't care for the fried spring rolls or fried tofu. Samosa wasn't overly fried, good proportion of filling to crust. Not too spicy. Fresh salad rolls I would have loved to have more of that! It was so crisp and refreshing! It tasted healthy and made a great light snack and the lettuce provided a lot of crunch contrast to the delicate rice wrapper. From picture it looks like a lot of lettuce but, I didn't mind. It was like having a salad in bite size portable pieces. The mango salad was balanced between the sweetness of the mango and warmth of the chilli and there was a nice bit of acidity to the salad too. The mango was almost ripe and still crunchy enough to contrast the peppers, onions and cashew nuts. This is a good dish to figure out which appetizer you may like from the platter and order that specific app next time. Vegetables hot and sour soup I didn't try. Based on feedback, my friend said it tasted good but, not spicy enough. Shrimp oodles of noodles was a good dish. The shrimp was flavourful and marinated well. The flesh of the shrimp was tasty and the taste wasn't just from the sauce - they marinate the shrimp too! The flavours was good, hearty and delicious bite. The fresh garden greens, green onions and squeeze of lemon juice added texture and flavour to the dish. The tofu and shrimp rounded out the dish and made it more filling. This dish wasn't too spicy. I would reorder this dish. Our next dish was coconut mango chicken which is a lightly breaded thinly sliced chicken in a coconut milk sauce with bell peppers and cubes of mango. The chicken remained tender and breading soaked up the flavour of the sauce. Together chicken and the addition of bell peppers and mango in a sweet and tangy sauce tasted okay on plain and simple steamed rice. Chicken was good but the sauce was just okay. I ordered from the back to school 50% off menu and I was extremely disappointed. I got the "famous chicken pad thai", "green mango salad" and the "chicken lemon soup" (which by the way is NOT edible). The noodles tore apart very easily, maybe it has to do with the fact that it was delivered tightly packed and that wouldnt even be a big deal if the pad thai actually TASTED GOOD. It simply tasted so bland and flavorless, It was like, dry spaghetti. It did not come with lemon and green onions like it said in the description. As for the soup, well it was more like barely boiled mushrooms floating in spicy water with chicken sitting at the bottom. Nothing looked anything like the pictures or tasted as good as it costed except for the mango salad which was actually great. Loved that. Havent had the samosas yet but I'm dreading that experience. Overall, delivery was great and quick but I wish they took more time to make sure what they were sending out was of good quality. I cannot believe they sent me that disgusting "soup". Heard great things about Thai room and their pad thai, so I had to give it a try. Boy, they did not disappoint. Along with their delicious pad thai, their samosas were to die for. First time @ TR. Was there for takeout. Ambiance is great, big booth, doesn't have an intimate feel, but the multicoil lighting is pretty cool. I ordered Malaysian chicken curry - 5/5. The best dish by far. Strong coconut taste, thick gravy, nice pieces of protein. Comes with white rice and honestly that's all you need House Thai noodles - 5/5. Very flavourful, good quantity of protein and veggies. House fried rice - 4/5. Great flavours. Different veggies that what you vet at most Chinese restaurants. The one issue I have is that the rice felt slightly mushy, but nothing to dislike it. Garlic shrimp - 4/5. Nothing exceptional. But it was flavourful. Too much veggies. Calamari - 3/5 Average deep fried, comes with veggies garnish and deep fried chips, bit they were tough and chewy. They would also do well to drop their prices slightly. The final bill made me wince slightly. I would go there again and recommend to friends and family. Basil Beef - 2/5. The big disappointment. Nice flavours but the beef was overcooked. Way too tough. This place was always really good, but i have to give 3 stars due to consistency, there are week day and weekend chefs there ( as even told by the waiter) and the weekend chefs are far better, the food is always perfect. We get Thai green curry, Malay curry, pad Thai with chicken tom yum soup and spring rolls, always good on a weekend. The only bad thing was the Thai fried rice.... not sure what happened there, its not for us, no one at the table liked it from this restaurant ( weekday meal FYI). I think management should sit everyone down before a shits starts and have each sets of cooks make the same dishes and see were the discrepancies lie, they just need to be more consistent.
