Pho tai nam, pho satay, spring rolls
Sofi N.

Actually pretty good; wasn't expecting much, was in the area craving pho. Spring rolls taste fresh and have heavy filling; pho tai nam pretty good. My bf had the pho satay i think and it was pretty unique/diff/fusion but tasty nonetheless. Also the che ba mau was pretty good, not too sweet and fully loaded with all the good bean stuff i like. Customer service could use some more polishing - no proactive checking up on us so it was hard to flag anyone down for help; also negligent on many stuff, like not bringing us the herbs with the pho and not being quite on it when we asked for it, saying they didnt have che ba mau but when i asked to clarify if she means in general they dont serve it or if just tonight they ran out, and i pointed to menu to show that it says it is offered here, she doublechecked with the back and yes they do have it. Other little negligent things like this with the customer service (kinda sloppy) - not sure if they just wanted to end the night (we were there half hr before close) or if they are always like this. But anyway still nice though when talking to them. Would still come back as i thought food was pretty good for local pho joint. Oh and space is nice, clean, spacious, comfy.

Pho and Lemon Grass Pork & Spring Roll and Vermicelli

Pho Bistro is just does not offer only Vietnamese food but also has a section for Chinese and Thai food. Tonight we opted to order a few dishes from the Vietnamese menu. We decided to go for the large bowl of Pho to share. Lots of noodles and beef along with tripe and beef balls ... a good size for two people. It was good the broth was tasty but not piping hot. We asked for hot broth and it was the same ... just came out warm. The Lemon Grass Pork with Vermicelli looked amazing. The lemon grass pork was tasty but we there was not enough noodles in comparison to the generous portions of meat. The service here was pleasant tho. They are located in a plaza at 100 Steeles Ave West. There is lots of space for parking.

Okay, I've been spending a lot of time at this plaza at 100 Steeles W lately. In addition to Cups, Ssangkye, and ServiceOntario office....a new one to add is Pho Bistro! Pretty good service, pretty good soup broth, very good spring rolls, very good fried tofu, so-so washroom and horrible parking. But parking affects that whole plaza, in all fairness. A nice place to go if you want pho and in a 'nicer' environment. Aka not a hot dump. Would come again!

I loveeee the drinks at this place. I've only had the Halo Halo but my friend had the Mango fruit shake and said it was smooth and fresh. So I'm sure the rest of the drinks would be the same! Foodwise is tastes typical of any other vietnamese restaurants (quality in GTA is pretty good) but taking one star off as I think the portion is a bit bit smaller compared to the pricing of the dishes. Would love to go back and try some of the other dishes and have another yummy drink!

I always surprise at how competitive the restaurant business is!! Since there is no menu posted outside Pho Bistro, and I was hungry and it was after 9 pm on a Sunday night... I just got stood up... I just want something warm and comforting to eat. This place is really nicely decorated for a Pho Joint, modern and chic with dark wooden theme.... Price for a Special Pho Small is $4.95!!! Pho Bistro is cheapest pho place I been to yet, aside places that might have lunch specials!! And for that price, the food is good.... broth has good depth and has a hint of anise.... Noodle though the dried type but was cooked properly. Cold Shrimp Rolls ($4) was disappointing! The shrimps were tiny and the rolls just look ugly and tasted so so... like something I made myself..... I would be back just for the Pho if I want a cheap, decent pho fix.. and with that price Pho Bistro is a good choice if I am in the area!

Went at odd hours like 2pm on a weekday and still quite some diners having lunch. Service is great! We asked for cooked bean sprouts and it arrived cooked. We all got pho. Try to avoid the beef tendon ones, those are not that flavourful. Get the slices and tripes instead.

The medium p1 house special pho

"Some high quality pho for a low quality price in a quality setting" So I've been eating a lot of Pho recently. A lot. I have yet to find a food that costs so little yet provides so much meaty and hearty goodness without the guilt or regret. Also it's available in a lot of places, and for the most part doesn't deviate too much in terms of flavour profile regardless of location or ingredients. The problem with Pho is it's hard to eat in the summer because it's so very hot outside so having a cool, air conditioned atmosphere to eat is paramount otherwise you'll need a towel during the meal to wipe off, especially if you like hot sauce and peppers in your pho. Having said all of that, in terms of all of the pho places I've been to, this is actually quite good. Very happy with everything I've had here. Atmosphere It's at Yonge/Steeles so right there around all of the shopping, car dealers, farmers markets and ethnic grocery stores. It's also adjacent to a lot of other really good businesses and restaurants that I want to yelp/check out as well. Free parking is also always a plus but the lot fills up quick, especially with a Pokestop right in the parking lot. Inside, nice atmosphere with quality finishes on the tables and decor that looks like an upper end AYCE sushi place. Ample room for seating and stone countertops on the tables is a plus. Very inviting. This is important as it doesn't feel as "Divey" or "grimey" as many of the "good places" have. Food Lots of choices when it comes to Vietnamese and Thai cuisine. Lots of combos, appetizers, and entrees. Of course the title said Pho Bistro so I got Pho. I got the house special pho (as I tend to do everywhere I go - best bang for my buck). I was very tempted to get a large, I mean I'll get to why in a second. I always view the Large as a challenge but I caved and got the medium partly because it was my first time there, and secondly I wanted to have another meal that day. The medium was MORE than enough. The flavours were very pleasent, subtle and strong in the right ways. Lots of noodles and enough meat (could always use more, but the meat content is more than fair). Supplemented with chili oil, sriacha, fresh basil, and other fresh herbs and veg. Very happy with it and would definitely order it again from here. Value The best part, the Pho ranges from $6.50 for a small to $8.50 for a large. Enough said. Are you kidding me? It's mega affordable, it's filling, and it's delicious. If you're in the area, it is tremendous bang for the buck. Would go again.

Cold shrimp roll

A friend took us to his favorite neighbourhood pho. Was excited to try it out since I've been to many pho restaurants in Toronto. Decor and service was good; food came out quick. I ordered medium Pho Tai Nam $7.50. Was a good size pho with lots of meat and soup tasted good. Unfortunately soup wasn't very hot so took awhile for veggies and raw meat to cook. Also they don't use fresh noodles. Was also able to try the shrimp cold roll which was bland. Probably won't be back unless I am in the area and most likely will order something other than pho.

Probably my favourite pho place so far. Cheap, delicious and generous portions. I got the special pho (medium) and it came with huge portions of noodles and meat, the broth was very flavourful and they had this amazing chili sauce on the table. Service was friendly, quick and attentive.

Pho bistro spring roll, pho bistro special combo pho, vermicelli with sugarcane shrimp and BBQ ground pork
Rachel L.

Must try: Pho Bistro Spring Rolls It was a very enjoyable meal! We ordered the (1) Pho Bistro Spring Rolls, which I would definitely recommend to share. I loved the flavour of taro with the minced meat and shrimp, it's quite special and not your average spring roll. We also got the (2) Pho Bistro Special Combo Pho. There is a pattern eh... Always order the dish with the restaurant name in it, you can't go wrong. The pho was actually just alright, the portion was good, but the taste was sufficient, not phenomenonal. Last thing we got was the (3) Vermicelli Platter with Sugarcane Shrimp and BBQ ground pork. I always love the sugarcane shrimp, I can't explain why, I just have a weakness for eating such a street-eat finger food kind of treat. I also liked the fish sauce for the vermicelli. If I remember correctly it was somewhat different than what it's normally like. The ground pork was interesting too... Different flavouring than what I'm used to. The portion size was huge! After the two of us declared ourselves full, we still packed a whole box to go. Score. WYWH

Where to begin... Well I will be honest by saying I might not come back here again, Manu selection in my own opinion is small I couldn't even find any egg noodle soup dishes.. we order the rice noodle special pho dac biet.. fresh shrimp rolls beef ho fan noodles an avocado shake and the 3 bean dessert thing.. price wise I think they charge too much comparing to other pho places.. food came out way too quick which I find is a bit odd usually certain dishes take time.. flavor of the food I found to be bland.. the beef ho fan noodle felt like they were soaked in soya sauce before they just threw in the pan to heat up the beef was cut very chunky and a bit tough.. the fresh rolls was not great it look like no effort was put into making them and it was filled more with greens then noodles and shrimp was very tiny.. the 3 bean dessert was lacking some sweetness and evaporated milk it was a very dry dessert when it should be like halo halo.. the pho dac biet was alright isnt better than any other pho places i have been to.. avocado shake i would say is the only thing i enjoyed along with my daughter.. What I found to be very odd was at one point I saw the people that worked there started filming a couple that was leaving and walking to their car which is creepy odd and disrespectful doesnt matter the reason cause it shows that if you do something wrong or give a small tip (cause tips are based on service and quality of food and isnt mandatory). And it seemed like any time you asked them for something like a bowl or small spoon or scissors they all look at one another laugh and talk and stare at you which I didn't like at all . washrooms are not parent friendly there is no place to change your child diaper if they are still in diapers.. So yes this is the reason why I wont be going back food wasn't great. Service was odd and somewhat disrespectful to me after what I saw and it isnt baby friendly in the washroom..

Past Thai chicken
Miguel B.

I ordered the pad Thai chicken. Overall pretty good. Fast service, Tasty food and good portion size except for the chicken... I counted 6 small pieces. However, they accept credit OMG and the server speaks perfect English versus the place I almost stayed... Entered asked for the menu and she didn't understand me. BTW, I don't have an accent... However, the second time i was there, my bun bo hue toke way longer to arrive, the table was halfway done there meals when my bowl finally arrived. A little bit of communication would have been nice, just got the "it's coming" the two times I asked about where it was, no timeline or anything. Spring rolls were kind of bland, no real flavour - however the crunchiness hits the spot. Bun bo hue when it arrives is truly amazing! The perfect amount of spice - makes you sweat a bit without killing you - you can still taste everything you're eating! The place is quite small and they get busy so expect some crowding. The food was delicious and had exceptional flavour and quality. My partner and I had the Bun Bo Hue (5/5) and the Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice (5/5). Bun Bo Hue was filled with meat and blood pudding. It was not as spicy as I had hoped it would be but the flavour profile was irresistibly good. Grilled Pork and Chicken on Broken Rice had ample portions of meat. They were tender and juicy. As I mentioned, the place gets busy and packed. We were a group of 8 and I tried to book a reservation a couple of days prior to our visit. To our disappointment, they did not accept reservations at all. The wait time was quite long since we were such a big group. This was quite hectic and stressful for the servers. Hopefully this can be considered in the future for big groups (8 people and above) to make the service smoother.

Ever since I discovered the spicy Curry Brisket Pho ($20.95), it has always been my go-to dish here all year-round. As creamy and thick as the broth appears, the intense Thai coconut curry flavours are perfect to slurp down in this modern fusion dish. We always order Pho Nam (XL $21.50) as well and both come loaded with a heaping portion of brisket slices in the piping hot noodle soup. From time-to-time, we also add the Banh Xeo savoury egg pancake which arrives on a huge plate even larger than the noodle bowls. Presented with a heap of greens & herbs, the crispy golden crepe is light and filled with bits of shrimp, pork, onions & bean sprouts. This is wrapped with the lettuce leaf for crunchy and refreshing bites. The menu prices have slowly but steadily increased over the past couple of years. There is still cash discount available. Not much has changed with the decor over the years in this spacious but dated restaurant interior. Service is always kind, fast and kid-friendly which is nice for young families. Skip it or hit it? Best to go on weekdays to get a better chance for seating. Recently tried a couple new items on their off menu including the curry beef noodle (fried egg noodles on top), these crispy triangle shaped rolls (forgot the name) maybe pork and crap roll? Then followed up with something I've gotten before the dry chicken pho noodle salad. The curry beef with the crispy egg noodles reminds me of khao soi though there is less of a coconut flavour and more salty and savoury. I don't usually have curry Vietnamese style so I didn't know what to expect. But we found it a little too salty and also I personally prefer my curry a little sweeter like Japanese or coconut-ish like Thai or HK style curries. It's good, just not to our palate. It's a generous portion so we took it home and actually used the remaining curry broth to make a tasty stew with other ingredients and a touch of marinara sauce and it turned out really tasty! The crispy triangles rolls we had were fantastic and I like the side of fresh greens with it. Dry chicken pho noodle salad is always good. I like that they provide the broth of beef balls on the side so you can always enjoy it with the broth if you like. I think the extra broth with beef balls only happens for dine-in though because I have taken out that same dish before and I don't remember them including the extra broth on the side. The other time we also tried their shaking beef (comes with a fried egg on top) with rice and ordered the tapioca seafood and pork noodle soup - look through my later photos for reference. I don't think we'll order the shaking beef again but the tapioca noodle soup would be in rotation. Love that they are always experimenting with different dishes and I'm always excited to try something new here from their off-menu dishes.

However The food I ordered didn't live up to the hype. We ordered 1. The sizzling meat plate with baguette 2. Banh Mi Dip (beef banh mi with a soup dip) 3. Small fried spring rolls Now, maybe I came in with overly high expectations. I've seen some reviews raving about these menu items But I was very disappointed in the dishes. The sizzling meat plate was actually not sizzling and was Luke warm. (Although flavours were not bad). The banh mi sandwich was kinda soggy even without dipping yet. And The fried spring rolls tasted like they were bought and frozen and not handmade. (I could be wrong but if I am, then that's even worse) All in all I won't be back, sorry But If you do go, maybe you will have a better experience with the food 3 stars is the best I can give, given it is a local spot and deserves all the support from Yelpers.
