I am a frequent patron to this restaurant, this time I arrived to find a new menu with most similar dishes but of course with increase in price. The server asked me to post a google review to exchange for a free Thai milk tea, I showed him I had posted many yelp reviews but that doesn't count, honestly the Thai milk tea doesn't cost much and I don't ask for free stuff, they could be more flexible in offering goodwill especially as a supportive customer, I showed them the many reviews I've posted. They now default to minimum 18% service charge on machine. I just feel tipping is going crazy these days, together with 13% tax, it means for a regular meal I'll need to pay additional 31% just for tax and tips. Tipping should correspond with service level, there's no reason to default to a high minimum 18%, I know I have right to adjust tipping amount, but sometimes it makes people feel small if they don't pay that much as requested. People might say if you're poor or stingy then don't eat out, but that's not the point, why are people forced to tip so much just for a regular job, I think that's greed! I still think they offer delicious authentic Thai meal but I'm not satisfied with above arrangements but having said that, I am unable to do anything which is disappointing! read more

The food was very flavourful and spicy (at least for me). We had the Kor Moo Gaeng Kua $25.95 (coconut curry with pork jowl), the Braised Beef Mas Sa Man $22.95 (tamarind coconut red curry, peanut, and potato), Goong Moun $15.95 (tofu w/ shrimp spring roll) for appetizers, and a mango sticky rice for dessert. Both the coconut curry and tamarind coconut red curry have very rich, creamy, and flavourful sauces. We had the spice level mild for both dishes, but that was still too hot for me, personally. That has nothing wrong to do with the dishes, but just my personal tolerance level. The coconut curry was a treat to eat. The pork jowl was very gummy and chewy. There was also a fried, battered leaf in the dish to provide a crunchy texture to the dish. The tamarind curry was equally as good. The braised beef was a little sweet and tender. There are also nuts in the dish to provide that crunchy texture. The tofu spring rolls we ordered provided much needed relief from the spiciness of the curry dishes. I would have some spring rolls in between to help subside the spicy sensation of the chilis. The spring rolls was surprisingly filling. Our group of 2 was not able to finish all of the tofu rolls and had to take some home. We ended the dish with a delightful order of mango sticky rice. It was another order that helped counteract the the spicy, burning sensation my tongue was having. We appriciated the vibe and look of the place. There were properly thought out furnishings around the space and the walls. Service was also top tier. This was an amazing restaurant. The dishes tasted so good. It got rewarded from Michelin since 2022. When we called in around 2pm to reserve 6pm table, they were full, only have a spot at 5:30pm and dining time for 1.5 hours. They were pretty busy when we arrived around 5:45pm. And so many people waited outside for tables. We were lucky to book it in advanced. The server was so nice and patient to introduce the popular dishes to us. I couldn't tell by the name of the dish, but I remember what she told me the good ones. The App we ordered the shrimp rolls (Goong Moun $15.95). There were 4 big rolls. The meat was shrimp and port mixed, a little bit spicy and salty. You must dip the fish sweet sauce together, that would make it tasty and not that salty. The main we got a pork curry dish and Tom Yum beef mild (Leng Tom Yum $35.95). My little girl loved the beef without the Tom Yum sauce so much. But I liked the curry sauce more, however, there was no veggies in it. This one was a bit expensive (Kor Moo Gaeng Kua $25.95) with a few pieces of pork only. This is one of my favourite Thai spots in the city! After visiting the Downtown location multiple times, I finally tried the Scarborough one and I was happy to learn that it was just as amazing! Their dishes taste as great as they look. My favourites are the khao neow gaeng (I always get it with shrimp!) and the pad see ew. You can't skip their mango sticky rice for dessert; it comes with a unique chocolate shell that's so fun (and delicious) to crack. The interior is very beautifully decorated and colourful. There are stunning paper/origami decorations, plants, and neon signs all around the interior. I am a Koh Lipe fan!!! Always enjoy my experience and the food here. The restaurant is located in a plaza/mall - which you would have to enter to get to the restaurant. It's decorated very thoughtfully, full of colours, and attempts to resemble the vibes of a Thailand restaurant. We ordered the pad Thai, mas sa man curry, Thai milk tea, mango sticky rice, and gui chai Tod. Everything was so tasty! My favourite being the mas sa man curry! It's full of flavour and absolutely delicious! The gui chai tod was something new that i tried which is a savoury deep fried tapioca/rice flour dish that also comes with a dipping sauce. I have enjoying the new Thai restaurants that have been popping up in Toronto. This one is Michelin guide for their downtown location so we went with some friends to their Scarborough location. I was not expecting it to be inside an Asian mall (Splendid China) but parking was still plentiful. It was nice they had a big outside sign displaying the restaurant name so you know exactly which entrance to go into. This time we had taken a look at the menu to see their specialty dishes. We ordered their Gui chai tod (tapioca dumplings), Geow Goong (shrimp dumplings), and Goong Moun) (fried tofu skin rolls) as appetizers. Our favorites out of the appetizers were the Gui chai tod and the Goong Moun. The texture was nice of the Gui chai tod and the Goong moun had a good fiery kick but the vinegar sauce for dipping gave it a good balance. For the mains, we shared the crab fried rice, pad see ew, and Kor Moo Gaeng Kua (pork jowl curry). Out the mains, I really enjoyed the Kor Moo Gaeng Kua and the crab fried rice. The pork jowl was tender (though some pieces were fattening), the flavor and spice were great with the right amount of kick. I enjoyed the eggplant and betel leaf and fried garnish they put on the side. The crab fried rice also had some good flavor to it. All in all, we were quite happy with the dishes we ordered as the flavors complimented each other and service was top-notch. Yeah, this place rocks. Really cool atmosphere. Amazing menu. Service was great. Food came out really fast. There's nice music in the restaurant that you can faintly hear over the voices of the other diners and restaurant noises. Our group came at 6:30pm and the place was full. A little more about the food. I'm not big on spicy so the chicken curry (pictured) and the sauce for the seafood platter were not nice to my mouth. Everything else was a 10/10 for me, expect perhaps the mango salad. Now, I'm sure they made it right, but I just prefer eating soft mango than when it has some crunch to it. The Scarborough location of Koh Lipe is larger and more spacious, with the same great menu, fun and colourful interior decor, and excellent customer service - just like its sister downtown location that was recognized by the Michelin Guide. It's located inside Splendid China Mall, with ample outdoor parking. The interior was just as beautiful as the decor in the downtown location - very colourful, with Thai-inspired decor such as the hanging straw bamboo lamps, decorated tuk-tuk near the front of the restaurant, a colourful replica of a grand Thai-style temple, and more. Food was 100% Michelin-star worthy without the heavy price tag of those in other Michelin star restaurants. Everything we tried tasted delicious, healthy, clean, fresh, and customizable (to be made non-spicy). We were even able to order some things that were not on the menu (special menu item - crab fried rice, and steamed vegetables). All the dishes came out within minutes of ordering - super lightning fast. Our server was very attentive and accommodating of our customization requests. The servers had a small walkie-talkie system with the kitchen staff, so they were able to ask questions and get confirmation instantaneously without having to run back to the kitchen to communicate. Very efficient. My recommendations: - Geow Goong (steamed shrimp dumplings) - This was like a cross between Chinese har gow and Korean steamed shrimps mandu (with the thinner dumpling wrapper). I liked the crispy garlic they put on the dumplings. - Khao Pad Puu (crab fried rice with eggs and green onions) - This was a special menu item (might be limited time only); came with actual big lumps of real crab (none of those imitation crab). - Pad Sam Mhen (vermicelli rice noodles stir-fried with clams, shrimps, holy basil, garlic, onion, and stink beans) - If you like stink beans, you can ask for extra stink beans on the side (which I did), as the dish originally came with only a few pieces of stink beans. The clams and shrimps were great protein mixed in with the vermicelli. They were able to put the sauces on the side for both the shrimp dumplings and crab fried rice, so you can control how much spice you want to put on your plate. We ordered the Prik Gaeng Moo Krob, Gaeng Ka Ti Sa Tor Nua and the Pad See Ew. The Prik Gaeng Moo Krob was my favourite as the crispy pork was amazing with the curry paste and green beans. They don't play with their spice levels here, so when they say something is medium spicy it is actually spicy. I could barely eat the Gaeng Ka Ti Sa Tor Nua but it was worth the pain. Save room for dessert, as they have some really great options. Can't recommend this restaurant enough! Super unique dishes you won't find at other Thai restaurants with fair prices and quick service. We made a reservation 2 days before (for a weeknight) and it's a good thing we did because they weren't taking walk ins. I highly recommend the pineapple coconut curry (literally the curry and coconut rice are in the pineapple), their braised beef khao soi and their pork tom yum. Koh Lipe has been on my wishlist to try for a long time and I finally got a chance to come here for dinner. They were quite busy at regular dinner time on weekends, but we were lucky able to be seates immediately without reservation. Their downtown location is a selected restaurant with good cooking by Michelin guide. We are welcomed by the energetic vibes, the beautiful Thai style decorations and warm welcomes from the server right away. Food quality was decent at reasonable price too. Their Scarborough location recently offered special items such as Bak Kut Teh (herbal soup originated in Malaysia and popular in Southeast Asia) and spicy blue crab curry rice noodles. We were told there were limited servings for those items everyday. We got a sweet and sour drink (super good), the Bak Kut Teh, spicy pork neck curry and coconut icecream. I'm not a big fan of soup in general but their Bak Kut Teh has an interesting sweet taste from 罗汉果 (monk fruit) which is good for cold and sore throat. My favourite dish is the spicy pork belly curry. The portion is not big but it's so tasty! The curry is so flavourful and quite spicy. The pork neck tastes fresh and tender. Last but not least, how can you not eating icecream to neutralize the spicyness? Their coconut icecream has strong flavour of coconut and has sliced coconut inside. Service was friendly but a bit rushed. They told us that for groups of 6 and under there a 2.5 hour time limit and more than 6 is 2 hours. From deciding what we wanted and trying to wave them down I personally felt that 1.5 was a bit rushed especially towards the end when the waiter came and told us that we had 20 mins left for our dessert and leave. Before my desserts came, they came with the take out boxes and so I stopped midway (was almost done the remainder of my food that was on my plate) to pack leftovers and the waiter cleared my table without even asking if I was done or not. The price is on the higher side but was expected. My friend ordered a Lipe Mojito and for starters we got the Tom Yum soup and Yum Sapparod (pineapple salad w/shrimp & squid). Both very yummy but my friend was not a fan of the pineapple salad cause the tomato's were cut up a tad too big and just seems like it was a filler. For our mains, we shared the Mee Puu (crab curry) and Gaeng Keow Whan (chicken green curry). I enjoyed the crab curry but found the green curry on the oilier side. I finished off with Ruam Mit which I enjoyed (but comparing to other people's photo...mine looks so depressing!) Went to Koh Lipe with a colleague and was luckily seated right away on the enclosed patio. A nod to having extra seating with a warm space! The menu was great, a lot of choice. The prices were higher but not surprising for all the Michelin Star plaques on the walls. Like...fine. My food came and it was a pretty conservative portion. I ordered the curry, Mas Sa Man. I can honestly say it tastes like it was frozen and warmed up. Mostly because the potatoes had that 'once frozen' texture and it was lukewarm. The server was super sweet and heated it up for me. The actual dish was tasty, on the salty side but the tamerind flavour was interesting in a good way I'm giving this 3 stars. The best part was the company I had. Koh Lipe is definitely one of the top spots, earning recognition in the Michelin Guide since 2022. They specialize in Southern Thai Cuisine, which tends to be a bit on the spicy hot side of the spectrum. The Thai milk tea and pineapple fried rice with shrimp were delicious. Pad thai was as you expect at a good Thai restaurant. The khao soi and masaman curry were borderline salty and over flavoured. Couldnt eat very much of it without drinking so much water. Upon arrival, there wasn't a very warm welcome even though we made reservations and showed up on time. We were a little rushed and were reminded that we only had 90 mins to dine. Tables and menus were sticky. So much potential in this beautiful restaurant that no staff really seemed to really truely care about. No wonder they lost their Michelin status this year. Sad. Found out they had a Scarborough location right across pacific mall, and dropped in for dinner. Plenty of parking because it's located inside the splendid Chinatown mall near the Chinese vegetarian restaurant. Called before hand for a last minute reservation and they did accommodate! So reservations is highly recommended. Ordered plenty of dishes to share and everything was excellent except the Tom yum soup with veggies. Not sure if the soup base was also veggie but it didn't have any Tom yum flavour? Also I didn't adjust the spicy level of any dish because I forgot and the waiter didn't bother asking like other Thai spots. Highlights were the lemongrass salad (very spicy but flavourful and had many shrimp pieces .. maybe 8?) & the crispy pork pad gra prao. The pad see ew was good but I've had better. We also wanted dessert but since we got a last minute table we had to return the table by a certain time. But I found out they have a dessert spot called Kati so definitely will have to drop by! However, why did they introduce those robot servers?! They do not deliver food but I believe only dirty dishes back to the kitchen? We sat at a corner spot and since it is winter, our jackets were hanging on the back of our chairs. The robot's dirty dishes kept on getting caught in our jackets or they got stuck completely behind us and the hallway panel (not enough room for them to maneuver?). The second time, we went back around 4:30 PM, and it was much more relaxed with less pressure to finish quickly. An incredible parade of colours and flavours elevates the experience. I travelled to Koh Lipe in Scarborough for lunch and it's located inside a mall. The restaurant is stunning, beautifully decorated with colourful Thai designs. The food matches the joyful palette of colours with equally savoury and sweet combinations. The Goong Moun set the stage with a delicately crispy roll filled with flavour. The Arjard sauce was light and delicious. A great way to start it off! I also ordered the Geow Goong shrimp dumplings and it's like tasting summer. Fresh, juicy, and mouthwatering. The Khao Neow Gaeng presentation was spot on, featuring spicy chicken curry paired together with sweet sticky rice. A great dish to share with others. Kor Moo Gaeng Kua was a surprise to my senses. Visually it's stunning with the leaf adorned the side of the bowl. The pork smelled amazing, perfectly cooked. The curry was creamy, with a nice mix of coconut and spice. My favourite dish overall and hopefully a permanent addition to the menu from the specials section. Wrapping up the experience was our server Nat. Heard great things about this place from their downtown location so was super excited to hear they opened one in Markham/Scarborough! This place really does transport you back to Thailand with the decor and atomsphere. We ordered the Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, Khao Soi, and Kor Moo Gaeng Kua. Each dish was super flavourful and aromatic, but felt like it was missing the authenic flavours I feel in love with when I was in Thailand. There are more authentic Thai restaurants like Chiang Mai and Eat Bkk, which I still prefer. Goong Moun (Fried crispy skin tofu rolled with shrimp, carrot, chilli, betel leaf and served with Arjard sauce.) #3. Khao pad puu (Crab fried rice, egg, onion and served with spicy fish sauce.) #4. Pad sam mhen (vermicelli rice noodles stir-fried with stink beans, clams, shrimps, shrimp paste, onion, garlic, and holy basil) #5. Peek gai Tom yum (Fried chicken wings with Tom Yum flavour. Reviews: #1. New delicacy found! Chewy in the middle and crispy on the outside with bursting chive flavour - happening all at once in the mouth. #2. Complex mix of sweet, sour and salty. Loved the savoury and sour Arjard vinaigrette dip. The shrimp paste inside the roll is mushy with shredded carrots yet juicy) #3. Generous amount of Crab meat! Super savoury. A bit too salty for my liking. It came with super salty sauce. I would recommend not to over use the sauce - the fried rice has enough saltiness. Savoury and rich, and liked it for sure, but personally I wanted less salt. #5. Best dish for the day. The skin was crispy, meat is juicy. Great contrast and texture. Right amount of saltiness and spice for me. Overall, the dishes tend to be salty. Also, food comes out really hot/spicy. I was given a choice for my spicy level. I like hot/spicy so I communicated that to the server, but the food was a bit spicier than I thought.
