I am a frequent patron to this restaurant, this time I arrived to find a new menu with most similar dishes but of course with increase in price. The server asked me to post a google review to exchange for a free Thai milk tea, I showed him I had posted many yelp reviews but that doesn't count, honestly the Thai milk tea doesn't cost much and I don't ask for free stuff, they could be more flexible in offering goodwill especially as a supportive customer, I showed them the many reviews I've posted. They now default to minimum 18% service charge on machine. I just feel tipping is going crazy these days, together with 13% tax, it means for a regular meal I'll need to pay additional 31% just for tax and tips. Tipping should correspond with service level, there's no reason to default to a high minimum 18%, I know I have right to adjust tipping amount, but sometimes it makes people feel small if they don't pay that much as requested. People might say if you're poor or stingy then don't eat out, but that's not the point, why are people forced to tip so much just for a regular job, I think that's greed! I still think they offer delicious authentic Thai meal but I'm not satisfied with above arrangements but having said that, I am unable to do anything which is disappointing!
I only had the khao soi but the beef was so tough and mostly bean sprouts and red onions with no noodles, I really wanted to love this place as it had the michelin hype but it fell flat for me. The service was nice though!
We had a fantastic meal at Koh Lipe. We ordered the Gui Chai Tod, Moo Tod, and Khao Soi, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The Gui Chai Tod was perfectly crispy, the Moo Tod was flavorful and savory, and the Khao Soi had a rich, comforting curry broth. Friendly service and great vibe overall. Highly recommended if you're looking for genuine Thai food in Scarborough!
This was an amazing restaurant. The dishes tasted so good. It got rewarded from Michelin since 2022. When we called in around 2pm to reserve 6pm table, they were full, only have a spot at 5:30pm and dining time for 1.5 hours. They were pretty busy when we arrived around 5:45pm. And so many people waited outside for tables. We were lucky to book it in advanced. The server was so nice and patient to introduce the popular dishes to us. I couldn't tell by the name of the dish, but I remember what she told me the good ones. The App we ordered the shrimp rolls (Goong Moun $15.95). There were 4 big rolls. The meat was shrimp and port mixed, a little bit spicy and salty. You must dip the fish sweet sauce together, that would make it tasty and not that salty. The main we got a pork curry dish and Tom Yum beef mild (Leng Tom Yum $35.95). My little girl loved the beef without the Tom Yum sauce so much. But I liked the curry sauce more, however, there was no veggies in it. This one was a bit expensive (Kor Moo Gaeng Kua $25.95) with a few pieces of pork only. The 2 main dishes were both come with rice. We ended up with packing up the rice and the sauce home for another meal. It's really tasty meal, and we would definitely come back again for other dishes.
The food was very flavourful and spicy (at least for me). We had the Kor Moo Gaeng Kua $25.95 (coconut curry with pork jowl), the Braised Beef Mas Sa Man $22.95 (tamarind coconut red curry, peanut, and potato), Goong Moun $15.95 (tofu w/ shrimp spring roll) for appetizers, and a mango sticky rice for dessert. Both the coconut curry and tamarind coconut red curry have very rich, creamy, and flavourful sauces. We had the spice level mild for both dishes, but that was still too hot for me, personally. That has nothing wrong to do with the dishes, but just my personal tolerance level. The coconut curry was a treat to eat. The pork jowl was very gummy and chewy. There was also a fried, battered leaf in the dish to provide a crunchy texture to the dish. The tamarind curry was equally as good. The braised beef was a little sweet and tender. There are also nuts in the dish to provide that crunchy texture. The tofu spring rolls we ordered provided much needed relief from the spiciness of the curry dishes. I would have some spring rolls in between to help subside the spicy sensation of the chilis. The spring rolls was surprisingly filling. Our group of 2 was not able to finish all of the tofu rolls and had to take some home. We ended the dish with a delightful order of mango sticky rice. It was another order that helped counteract the the spicy, burning sensation my tongue was having. We appriciated the vibe and look of the place. There were properly thought out furnishings around the space and the walls. Service was also top tier. Our waiter was very patient explaning the dish description, the spice levels, and also saying how the dish is pronounced.
Everything here always strikes 10/10! Love the foods, flavours are phenomenal! Service is quick. Beautiful interior!
Excellent food and service inside the unassuming mall across from the much busier Pacific Mall. The food is excellent and properly spiced with herbs like they do in Thailand. The multi-year Michelin stars is a testament to the food so I do not see any need to say that the food is good. On top of that the service is attentive and polite. You have to try it.....but bring your wallet!
I've been here twice now, celebrating two birthdays. The servers are always nice and attentive. Food menu is extensive and portions are big to share with two people. The prices are average, more on the expensive side for Thai food. Flavours are always good and quality is good. The seating is comfortable, lots of tables, good for groups, and decor and aesthetics are nice. Please note: a new $2 per person cake fee is in place. So just a warning if you're planning on having a birthday here with a large party, that fee could add up. 18% gratuity is automatically charged on all receipts
This is one of my favourite Thai spots in the city! After visiting the Downtown location multiple times, I finally tried the Scarborough one and I was happy to learn that it was just as amazing! Their dishes taste as great as they look. My favourites are the khao neow gaeng (I always get it with shrimp!) and the pad see ew. You can't skip their mango sticky rice for dessert; it comes with a unique chocolate shell that's so fun (and delicious) to crack. The interior is very beautifully decorated and colourful. There are stunning paper/origami decorations, plants, and neon signs all around the interior. This is the perfect spot for a date, meal with friends, or just whenever you're craving something flavourful and comforting. Be sure to book a reservation because spots can fill up fast!
My group and I dined here during the holidays and made a reservation to avoid long waiting times. The interior is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is lively. Our server was quick to attend to us and gave us plenty of time to decide. We ordered: Gui Chai Tod 4.5/5: perfect if you like chewy textures and the sauce is good Goong Moun 3/5: mainly because it's too spicy for me so I couldn't even finish my piece Luok Jhim 4/5: seafoods are fresh Pad Thai (shrimps) 2.5/5: definitely on the sweeter side, and I didn't taste much other flavors Khao Pad 3.5/5: this was good but didn't stand out too much either Overall this was a great restaurant to try, but I guess I was expecting a bit more with all the hypes.
Ordered the pad Thai (mild). BOGO offer from uber. The mild had zero spice level. The noodles itself were soggy and no flavour. The portion size is the right amount, but I would not pay full price for this pad Thai. It was not tasty. When I dined in, everything was so spicy so I decided to go mild for the pad Thai.
I got the chance to try out Koh Lipe recently and what a great experience I had! This restaurant is on the Michelin Guide, and you can just tell once you dine here why it would be! First off this restaurant is beautiful, with stunning decor that really represents what Thailand would be like. The staff is so kind and the service is really great as well. We got the chance to try the Tofu Pad See Ew which was delicious and very flavourful! Along with the Mango Sticky Rice which was amazing and would definitely come back for. A super nice place to come dine in with family and friends, would highly recommend! 9/10 recommend!
I am a Koh Lipe fan!!! Always enjoy my experience and the food here. The restaurant is located in a plaza/mall - which you would have to enter to get to the restaurant. It's decorated very thoughtfully, full of colours, and attempts to resemble the vibes of a Thailand restaurant. We ordered the pad Thai, mas sa man curry, Thai milk tea, mango sticky rice, and gui chai Tod. Everything was so tasty! My favourite being the mas sa man curry! It's full of flavour and absolutely delicious! The gui chai tod was something new that i tried which is a savoury deep fried tapioca/rice flour dish that also comes with a dipping sauce. Pretty unique but still tasty! The pad thai is a classic! And we obviously had to finish off with dessert - the classic mango sticky rice - not too sweet and honestly satisfied my cravings. Service was great!

Came here for first time- trying out 'new' (different) thai places with its high rating. Ordered pork jowl curry, fried bean curd with shrimp, dry chicken curry with anchovies, pandan layer cakes. Wow....Food is really really tasty! Bold flavor. Spicy (u can adjust spicy level with pork jowl curry, but not the dry chicken curry). Pork jowl is crunchy and tender with a strong curry sauce. The dry chicken curry is served in hot stone bowl - eating spicy + hot (temperature) makes ur eyes eary and noses runny. We love it!! Even tho my friend who ordered this dish cannot finish it - cant stand the heat+hot. Beware of your own spicy tolerance. My friend love the pandan layer cake.. But this is my least favorite. Too creamy...too 'heavy'... After eating all those strong+spicy flavor...I feel that sth light and refreshing would be more suitable. Overall great experience and definitely will be back to try other items. Nice ambiance. Fast and friendly service. read more
I've had Koh Lipe on my bucket list for a while now so when a friend suggested this place while we were looking for a restaurant to eat, we locked eyes and we just knew lol. We came as a group of 5 on a Sunday night without reservation and was told the wait would be 30 minutes. Which was fine for us since it gave us time to look at the menu. The restaurant is located inside a dead Chinese mall so actually I was exploring it with a friend while the girls decided what to order lol. Service was very thoughtful. We were seated at a pretty small table but when a larger one opened up, they asked if we wanted to switch tables. For the main dishes, we ordered their Khao Pad (Pineapple Fried Rice), chicken Pad Thai, braised beef Mas Sa Man, Mee Puu(coconut curry with blue crab meat), and their Choo Chee Pla Too(curry mackerel) and a mango salad. Honestly the only thing that I was really wowed by was the Mas Sa Man. It is a braised beef dish with tamarind coconut red curry with peanuts and potatoes. I thought the beef was so flavorful and tender. The potatoes were also really soft. The Mee Puu which is what they are known for was decent as well. The pad thai and the Khao pad was just meh. It was good but just not too memorable. I didn't really enjoy the curry mackerel but I'm just not a big fan of mackerel. Also the curries are definitely spicy and I have a pretty high spice tolerance. I don't think my friends were able to really enjoy this meal. It was too spicy for them. For dessert, we ordered Thai coconut pancake, Thai tea toast and two of their mango sticky rice. the Thai coconut pancake was so delicious with a mochi like chew and fragrant coconut flavor that wasn't too sweet. It was perfect. the Thai tea toast was really sweet but the ice cream went really well after eating so much curry. It also had bits of crumbles which added such a perfect crunch and contrasting texture. The toast itself was a bit too chewy though and wasn't crispy enough. The mango sticky rice was good but wasn't really hitting the spot for me. Maybe I'm just not a big fan of mango sticky rice ? the rice was fragrant with coconut milk and the mangoes were ripe. Or maybe the sticky rice was just too heavy after eating such a heavy meal. We definitely didn't need to order 2 lol. Overall it was a decent meal for me. I don't really think we ordered what they are well known for so I would definitely come back and try other stuff. I also really liked the presentation of everything. I thought everything looked great and was so colorful. But I would say It is quite expensive since portion sizes are rather small. I don't remember the exact prices of everything but the bill came to around $209 before tips. They also accept Amex. read more

I've wanted to try Koh Lipe for a while, and so I got it for takeout. I ordered chicken pad thai (extra spicy), pad see ew (non spicy), and tom yum chicken wings. Chicken wings were delicious, especially with the sauce it came with. The chicken pad Thai was just as delicious and so different from the pad thai flavours that I'm used to. Pad see ew was good, just like any pad see ew anywhere. Prices are super steep for the portions though. read more
Yeah, this place rocks. Really cool atmosphere. Amazing menu. Service was great. Food came out really fast. There's nice music in the restaurant that you can faintly hear over the voices of the other diners and restaurant noises. Our group came at 6:30pm and the place was full. A little more about the food. I'm not big on spicy so the chicken curry (pictured) and the sauce for the seafood platter were not nice to my mouth. Everything else was a 10/10 for me, expect perhaps the mango salad. Now, I'm sure they made it right, but I just prefer eating soft mango than when it has some crunch to it. The prices were as expected. Good value for what you get. Not too pricey, but not cheap either. Try this place for sure, and the defunct mall that it's in is kind of fascinating in it's own right. read more
I have enjoying the new Thai restaurants that have been popping up in Toronto. This one is Michelin guide for their downtown location so we went with some friends to their Scarborough location. I was not expecting it to be inside an Asian mall (Splendid China) but parking was still plentiful. It was nice they had a big outside sign displaying the restaurant name so you know exactly which entrance to go into. This time we had taken a look at the menu to see their specialty dishes. We ordered their Gui chai tod (tapioca dumplings), Geow Goong (shrimp dumplings), and Goong Moun) (fried tofu skin rolls) as appetizers. Our favorites out of the appetizers were the Gui chai tod and the Goong Moun. The texture was nice of the Gui chai tod and the Goong moun had a good fiery kick but the vinegar sauce for dipping gave it a good balance. For the mains, we shared the crab fried rice, pad see ew, and Kor Moo Gaeng Kua (pork jowl curry). Out the mains, I really enjoyed the Kor Moo Gaeng Kua and the crab fried rice. The pork jowl was tender (though some pieces were fattening), the flavor and spice were great with the right amount of kick. I enjoyed the eggplant and betel leaf and fried garnish they put on the side. The crab fried rice also had some good flavor to it. All in all, we were quite happy with the dishes we ordered as the flavors complimented each other and service was top-notch. The ambience was nice too with the special touches of feeling like you were in Thailand. We would definitely come back! read more
The food is amazing. Spicy is SPICY. I can typically handle spice well, but will be going for MEDIUM next time. The Goong Moun Tofu roll was a standout. Book a reservation. This place is busy. It may feel understaffed, but it's well worth the little bit of patience. The restaurant is tucked away inside the corner of a mall. But once you're inside it feels like you're in a different world, and you forget that you're in a mall. read more
The Scarborough location of Koh Lipe is larger and more spacious, with the same great menu, fun and colourful interior decor, and excellent customer service - just like its sister downtown location that was recognized by the Michelin Guide. It's located inside Splendid China Mall, with ample outdoor parking. The interior was just as beautiful as the decor in the downtown location - very colourful, with Thai-inspired decor such as the hanging straw bamboo lamps, decorated tuk-tuk near the front of the restaurant, a colourful replica of a grand Thai-style temple, and more. Food was 100% Michelin-star worthy without the heavy price tag of those in other Michelin star restaurants. Everything we tried tasted delicious, healthy, clean, fresh, and customizable (to be made non-spicy). We were even able to order some things that were not on the menu (special menu item - crab fried rice, and steamed vegetables). All the dishes came out within minutes of ordering - super lightning fast. Our server was very attentive and accommodating of our customization requests. The servers had a small walkie-talkie system with the kitchen staff, so they were able to ask questions and get confirmation instantaneously without having to run back to the kitchen to communicate. Very efficient. My recommendations: - Geow Goong (steamed shrimp dumplings) - This was like a cross between Chinese har gow and Korean steamed shrimps mandu (with the thinner dumpling wrapper). I liked the crispy garlic they put on the dumplings. - Khao Pad Puu (crab fried rice with eggs and green onions) - This was a special menu item (might be limited time only); came with actual big lumps of real crab (none of those imitation crab). - Pad Sam Mhen (vermicelli rice noodles stir-fried with clams, shrimps, holy basil, garlic, onion, and stink beans) - If you like stink beans, you can ask for extra stink beans on the side (which I did), as the dish originally came with only a few pieces of stink beans. The clams and shrimps were great protein mixed in with the vermicelli. They were able to put the sauces on the side for both the shrimp dumplings and crab fried rice, so you can control how much spice you want to put on your plate. This was my third time coming to Koh Lipe (twice downtown, and first time in the Scarborough location) - and it certainly won't be the last! read more
I have been to the Baldwin location many times, but this is my first time in the Scarborough location. Their menu here is much more extensive and with a large spacious dining space. We ordered the Prik Gaeng Moo Krob, Gaeng Ka Ti Sa Tor Nua and the Pad See Ew. The Prik Gaeng Moo Krob was my favourite as the crispy pork was amazing with the curry paste and green beans. They don't play with their spice levels here, so when they say something is medium spicy it is actually spicy. I could barely eat the Gaeng Ka Ti Sa Tor Nua but it was worth the pain. Save room for dessert, as they have some really great options. I tried the dessert special Bau Loy for the first time, and I really like the interplay between the soft mochi, coconut milk, and ice cream. Would definitely recommend to end the meal! read more

It is hidden inside a Chinese mall, you will have to look for the sign to get to the restaurants. Nice decor and vibe. Love all their appetizer selection! Authentic and flavour full Tom Yum soup. We made a reservation 2 days before (for a weeknight) and it's a good thing we did because they weren't taking walk ins. I highly recommend the pineapple coconut curry (literally the curry and coconut rice are in the pineapple), their braised beef khao soi and their pork tom yum. I heard a lot about this place, and my parents wanted to try it out. It is a Michelin-starred place, so the prices can be higher. In my opinion, I like their food, but would I return? I highly doubt it, as it was expensive for just three people, four dishes, and two drinks. My mom enjoyed the Pla Tod Kamin, but she said she couldn't eat the bones. Overall, she still liked it. I loved their pork belly appetizer; it was really good, and the other food was just the same as other Thai food places. The service was great, very attentive, and they gave us recommendations since it was our first time coming here. Koh Lipe has been on my wishlist to try for a long time and I finally got a chance to come here for dinner. They were quite busy at regular dinner time on weekends, but we were lucky able to be seates immediately without reservation. Their downtown location is a selected restaurant with good cooking by Michelin guide. We are welcomed by the energetic vibes, the beautiful Thai style decorations and warm welcomes from the server right away. Food quality was decent at reasonable price too. Their Scarborough location recently offered special items such as Bak Kut Teh (herbal soup originated in Malaysia and popular in Southeast Asia) and spicy blue crab curry rice noodles. We were told there were limited servings for those items everyday. We got a sweet and sour drink (super good), the Bak Kut Teh, spicy pork neck curry and coconut icecream. I'm not a big fan of soup in general but their Bak Kut Teh has an interesting sweet taste from 罗汉果 (monk fruit) which is good for cold and sore throat. My favourite dish is the spicy pork belly curry. The portion is not big but it's so tasty! The curry is so flavourful and quite spicy. The pork neck tastes fresh and tender. Last but not least, how can you not eating icecream to neutralize the spicyness? Their coconut icecream has strong flavour of coconut and has sliced coconut inside. I really enjoy the vibe, the attentive service and quality food here and will definitely bring my family and friends back to try more dishes here. read more

Where to start . Place was pack for a Sunday dinner, they had us waiting for 25 min which ain't too bad . Food was on point , not too spicy not too mild. We just felt the price was on the high side and quantity was very less . 5 item is about $240. So be ready with wallets. read more

**3.5** (3 for service and 4 for food) I have been wanting to visit Koh Lipe for ages and finally got around to visiting this past weekend to see what the hype was all about. Service was friendly but a bit rushed. They told us that for groups of 6 and under there a 2.5 hour time limit and more than 6 is 2 hours. From deciding what we wanted and trying to wave them down I personally felt that 1.5 was a bit rushed especially towards the end when the waiter came and told us that we had 20 mins left for our dessert and leave. Before my desserts came, they came with the take out boxes and so I stopped midway (was almost done the remainder of my food that was on my plate) to pack leftovers and the waiter cleared my table without even asking if I was done or not. The price is on the higher side but was expected. My friend ordered a Lipe Mojito and for starters we got the Tom Yum soup and Yum Sapparod (pineapple salad w/shrimp & squid). Both very yummy but my friend was not a fan of the pineapple salad cause the tomato's were cut up a tad too big and just seems like it was a filler. For our mains, we shared the Mee Puu (crab curry) and Gaeng Keow Whan (chicken green curry). I enjoyed the crab curry but found the green curry on the oilier side. I finished off with Ruam Mit which I enjoyed (but comparing to other people's photo...mine looks so depressing!) I would be back to try out their other items though as they do have more unique items not found in other Thai restaurants. read more
Went to Koh Lipe with a colleague and was luckily seated right away on the enclosed patio. A nod to having extra seating with a warm space! The menu was great, a lot of choice. The prices were higher but not surprising for all the Michelin Star plaques on the walls. Like...fine. My food came and it was a pretty conservative portion. I ordered the curry, Mas Sa Man. I can honestly say it tastes like it was frozen and warmed up. Mostly because the potatoes had that 'once frozen' texture and it was lukewarm. The server was super sweet and heated it up for me. The actual dish was tasty, on the salty side but the tamerind flavour was interesting in a good way I'm giving this 3 stars. The best part was the company I had. The food was underwhelming, small portions and overpriced. And there was a man that was sporadically SHOUTING across the room. Very jarring, unprofessional and literally startled people. Please, you might be the owner (maybe?) but a little decorum! read more

Wow completely different from the downtown location, we started off with the gong moun, it is a crispy tofu wrapped and shrimp inside absolutely dynamite, the service was excellent the waitress is very attentive, then we ordered the chicken and shrimp sticky rice in a pineapple, it was okay I wasn't a fan of the sticky rice but the shrimp and chicken was really good, the pad see ew was delicious but my favourite was the dessert, the pandan toast, was the best of the night, the pandan with that coconut ice cream was dynamite, probably one of the best desserts I ever had. read more
I have been to many excellent and outstanding Thai restaurants in the GTA, even meeting some of the top chefs and owners. Koh Lipe is definitely one of the top spots, earning recognition in the Michelin Guide since 2022. They specialize in Southern Thai Cuisine, which tends to be a bit on the spicy hot side of the spectrum. I recently went to their Scarborough location in celebration of a friend's birthday, and we feasted on some delicious food. We had it all, from appetizers, to mains, desserts, and even mocktails. Every bite, every sip, was excellent! The Thai milk tea and pineapple fried rice with shrimp were delicious. Pad thai was as you expect at a good Thai restaurant. The khao soi and masaman curry were borderline salty and over flavoured. Couldnt eat very much of it without drinking so much water. Upon arrival, there wasn't a very warm welcome even though we made reservations and showed up on time. We were a little rushed and were reminded that we only had 90 mins to dine. Tables and menus were sticky. So much potential in this beautiful restaurant that no staff really seemed to really truely care about. No wonder they lost their Michelin status this year. Sad. The giant Michelin mascot at the front door is a little tacky. Hopefully next time they'll gain it back! read more

Found out they had a Scarborough location right across pacific mall, and dropped in for dinner. Plenty of parking because it's located inside the splendid Chinatown mall near the Chinese vegetarian restaurant. Called before hand for a last minute reservation and they did accommodate! So reservations is highly recommended. Ordered plenty of dishes to share and everything was excellent except the Tom yum soup with veggies. Not sure if the soup base was also veggie but it didn't have any Tom yum flavour? Also I didn't adjust the spicy level of any dish because I forgot and the waiter didn't bother asking like other Thai spots. Highlights were the lemongrass salad (very spicy but flavourful and had many shrimp pieces .. maybe 8?) & the crispy pork pad gra prao. The pad see ew was good but I've had better. We also wanted dessert but since we got a last minute table we had to return the table by a certain time. But I found out they have a dessert spot called Kati so definitely will have to drop by! We came with a reservation, but you probably won't need a reservation if you beat the dinner rush. Everything on their menu looked super appetizing. I wish I tried more things! Lost 1 star because the mango in the mango sticky rice was unripe, very hard and sour. Otherwise, this experience would have been 5/5. read more

This restaurant has great reviews, so I wanted to check it out. The first time we went on a Friday evening, there was a time limit to finish our meal, and we felt rushed. The second time, we went back around 4:30 PM, and it was much more relaxed with less pressure to finish quickly. I'd recommend making a reservation for an earlier dinner if you prefer a more relaxed dining experience. My favorite dish was the crispy pork, and the Khao Soi was really good too. We also ordered a few other dishes--I can't remember their names, but they were excellent! Would love to return to try more diff dishes read more
