Don't let the bad reviews deter you from trying this place. The Pad Thai is very tasty and so is the Pad See and Khao Soi. The restaurant is situation in one of the hardest mini strip malls in Downtown Richmond Hill. I always order takeout(Uber Eats) and have only eaten in the restaurant twice cause parking is annoying and it's busy. I had to give them 4 stars instead of 5 cause delivery orders from this place take forever even living just a few blocks from the restaurant itself. All of the food is pretty good. I love the green curry with a coconut taste. Appetizer is coconut shrimp and also has coconut scent. The soft shell crab has the whole crab with good amount of vegetable. Stir fry and noodle are also good. Noodle soup is not as thick as I try in other restaurants . Jatujak Richmond Hill is one of my preferred Thai restaurants in town. It's a great spot for a night out with friends. No trekking midtown to have authentic Thai cuisine. The decor makes you feel like you're in Thailand and they plate their dishes in a colourful way. Jatujak Pad Thai noodles were saucy and sweet. Protein ratio and portion size was excellent. The Thai Basil chicken with green, red and yellow peppers was flavourful and served with fresh jasmine rice. Go here for the authentic Thai food. Return here for the cozy ambiance, family friendly dining experience and humble staff. I've been to Jatujak other locations, this is the only location I've been to. The first time was with my family dining in. The food was not as good as we expected. The pad Thai was really bad, we left it. I cannot explain how bad, it just tasted weird. The other dishes we ordered were ok though. The second time was take out lunch. I ordered Green curry, the chicken was very dry and the rice was not jasmine rice. The sticky rice was just plain white sticky rice, it was tasty, but their picture online had three different colors. So it was a little bit disappointing when I received it. The service was ok. The online order was not showing it was ready, but it was ready. The ordering system was a little confusing. Surprisingly disappointed by this joint given the high ratings on Google. We got the khao soi since it had a unique look with the flying noodle chopsticks, the pad see ew and the massaman curry and everything was super salty. I personally didn't like the pad see ew because they used the thin noodles, I preferred the traditional thicker ones. The massaman lacked depth of flavour. One thing that was good is the portion size. Likely will not be returning here sadly. The server when clearing the plates also spilled on my husbands pants but didn't acknowledge it. read more

Finally had the chance to check out Jatujak recently after hearing some raving reviews. First off, this place is busy! Definitely not a spot for a spontaneous dinner unless you've got a reservation. We came on a weekend and there were so many groups that were turned away. The decor is very busy too, and the whole place felt a little stuffy--almost overwhelming at times. So, if you're looking for a calm, cozy vibe, this might not be it. Parking can be a hassle since their lot is small. I'd recommend parking at the Richmond Hill Performing Arts Centre across the street (it's less than 5 minutes to walk over) if you want to avoid the stress. As for the food, I'd say it's a mixed bag. The enoki mushrooms were crispy and delicious--definitely a standout. But the Pad Thai, while flavorful, was a little wet for my liking. Plus, there were only five shrimp in the whole dish, which made it feel like you're paying for more noodle than protein. The Tom Yum soup was another letdown. It was difficult to scoop out, and the seafood tasted a bit low-quality. Not quite the punch I was hoping for given the steep price tag. The curry was pretty solid but I'd definitely skip the roti and just stick with the rice that comes with it. In my opinion, the roti was overly fried and crunchy. I guess I was expecting a more soft and chewy version. For dessert we ordered the mango sticky rice. It was good overall and very pretty. However, it was almost too sweet, and even after eating it I'm not too sure if the different coloured rice had different flavours or not. As a note, you get 10% discount for paying cash. I'm not sure if it's because we were a group of 6, but they also auto charged us gratuity at 18%. Overall, I thought the dining experience was just mediocre. It was a little uncomfortable in the restaurant and felt rushed during the meal. The food was mostly good, but nothing really stood out. My first time trying Jatujak and it was amazing! Better than the usual fave Thai restaurants I would go to. Their pad Thai was saucy and the green curry was delicious too. Coconut rice was also perfect amount of sugar. I think the only flag I would raise is they add spice to it so make sure to mix your food around or ask for Mild. read more

That was one plate of fucking respectable Pad Thai that made me wanna yell oweeee after the first bite. I was not expecting it to be this authentic since their patrons are primarily folks from Richmond Hill - Chinese/Hongkongers (hence, they always give out chopsticks, something you should NOT see from an authentic Thai restaurant lol). But damn. That was fantastic. I can't wait to be back and try their other stuff. Price wise, although It was not cheap (17.95 for the chicken pad Thai), the portion was big and satisfying. I found the food underwhelming for a restaurant that many people rave about. Perhaps it was the items we chose but I found everything too heavy and salty. We had the Crab Fried Rice, Pad Woon Sen and for dessert the roti with mango ice cream. The flavours were decent but nothing amazing. Absolutely delicious Saturday dinner at Jatijak! This is my new favourite Thai place in the area. It was packed but the order arrived quickly and it was amazing! Best Tom Yum Gong soup I ever had. Red curry with shrimp was cooked to perfection. And having draft beer (we had Thai beer Singha) was an added bonus. We will certainly be back soon. Tried their khao soi, which had a silky, decadent soup and a beautiful display. The noodles were a perfect texture and soup was well seasoned. My friends had the pad thai and tom yum lunch specials which were such a cheap price for the massive portion size. We also shared a mango salad which had nice sour notes along with a good salty flavour. Only issue was poor service, where they didn't seem as attentive since we waited a while to be seen. read more

The restaurant is small, few tables but nicely decorated. The parking is really limited in the small plaza and the restaurant is tucked away in the corner. I can't imagine how you'd get a spot here when it's busy as the lot is shared with many other stores. I ordered a soft shell crab dish with noodles and a coconut curry broth. The crab was nicely fried and crispy though the batter was thicker than what I prefer. The broth was served in a little clay pot surrounded by noodles and some vegetables. The vegetables were sloppy. The cilantro was a bit wet and served uncut with majority of the stem- it couldn't fit in the pot. There was a side of lettuce and some salad greens that felt like it was straight from a store bought salad meal kit. Richmond Hill hotspot for Thai food. I came here as a recommendation from a friend of mine who loves coming here. Location is fairly small with maybe 10 to 15 tables. I was quickly greeted and our reservations were on time. From an atmosphere is very simple and eclectic. Staff were super friendly and helpful as the menu was not a traditional American style Thai food . I ordered spring rolls pad Thai, soft shell crab dish and a few others. Nothing disappointed and everything was served quickly. Hot and very tasty. Overall I was very happy with the food. Dinner for under $50 per person was fairly reasonable. I have never experienced service this poor. My first visit to this restaurant was great--the food was authentic, which is why I chose it to host my and my kid's birthday celebration with my family and relatives. We made a reservation for eight people. From the start, the server repeatedly reminded us that we only had a 1.5-hour dining limit. While I understand time restrictions, the constant reminders made the entire experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. Throughout the meal, the bald male server kept emphasizing the time, even when I wanted to order dessert, which completely took away from what was supposed to be a special celebration. As we were finishing our dishes, he rushed us to bring out the birthday cake. When the cake arrived, no clean plates or forks were provided. He expected us to reuse the dessert plates from the mango sticky rice. We had to ask him multiple times to clear the table and bring fresh plates. Even then, he only brought four plates for a party of eight and told us they didn't have any more available. We were rushed so much that we didn't even get a chance to take a proper group photo for my birthday. To make matters worse, the bill included an automatic 18% gratuity, which we were never informed about in advance. It left me feeling that the server didn't care about providing good service or the restaurant's reputation, since he was guaranteed his tip regardless. This was supposed to be a memorable birthday dinner, but instead it was stressful and disappointing. Worst dining experience I've had. read more

Two of our group upgraded their lunch specials to get spring rolls, salads, and a cokes. They were pleased with the upgrade for an additional $5. Service was excellent. Went here with high expectations considering the reviews here on Google! Unfortunately the food was just mediocre and pricey for the quality. We ordered quite a lot of food for two people, hoping to try multiple dishes. I would say the coconut shrimp and calamari appetizer that we ordered was the best thing we tried that night. The batter was light and the calamari was cooked just right so it wasn't chewy. We ordered their signature Khao Soi but it was almost too floral and not a lot of curry flavour. Additionally, my partner felt that it was too oily. We're normally big fans of Khao Soi so this was a disappointment. We also got a soft shell crab dish which came with the whole crab and side of rice but it wasn't very flavourful. We ended the night with mango sticky rice (again, normally a fav at thai restaurants) but the presentation felt tacky and unnecessary -- three different colored rice that tasted the same, and mango slices that were cut way too thin. It was overall way too sweet and unsatisfying. I would perhaps give Jatujak another shot, but at other locations. read more

Food was good, but the service was absolutely terrible. Several staff reminded us that since we made a reservation at 5pm, we had to leave at 630 pm. I felt rushed trying to eat my food. The balding, middle aged male server wearing a green jacket was quite rude. Kept trying to rush us out. We were a party of 8 and none of us felt relaxed eating there. The server forced us to bring out our birthday cake early. Got us 4 plates instead of 8 and when we asked for more, he got 2 more and stated they didn't have more plates. My friend and I visited this restaurant at 5 pm on a Friday. We were the only ones there, and the server pointed to a booth for us to sit. After about 10 minutes of looking at the menu, he returned and told us we had to move because the booth was reserved and would be needed in 40 minutes. It was strange to be asked to move when the restaurant was empty, but we agreed and relocated to a table by the window. When we sat down, a cold draft came from the window, making my friend uncomfortable. We asked if we could move to the table next to us, a bit farther from the window. The server said we could, but that table was also "reserved" and we only had an hour to eat. None of the tables had markings to indicate they were reserved, and there was no one else in the restaurant. It didn't make sense why we couldn't just stay where we were or move freely. Feeling disrespected, we decided to leave. To make matters worse, two other customers arrived and were seated without issue, despite not having reservations. It was hard not to feel singled out and unfairly treated. After over two decades of reviewing restaurants, I've never encountered such a situation. We felt discriminated against and essentially kicked out for no reason. Based on this experience, I can't recommend this place. read more
