    Fresh Mango Sticky Rice Dessert
    Nancy T.

I brought my parents to try the place out since they love Thai food. They had essentially tried many Thai food restaurants already. They liked the place and wouldn't mind coming back again. The service was great and very helpful when we weren't sure how big the dish was. The staff were friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed. All the food was great, but I don't think I will order the appetizer platter again as it wasn't much for us to eat. Still good, but I will order for 4 people instead of the order for 2. I would have to say I love their dessert. I always forget to order them when I'm eating at a Thai restaurant, and this time I remembered. The atmosphere is good, but if you have a stroller, I wouldn't recommend bringing it in as there isn't much room to put it. Unless you sit near the windows, you can possibly bring it in.

TLDR: This Thai place is basically a staple of Richmond Hill at this point given how long they have been here and I am so glad they are still around. I used to only get pad thai because that's all my family would try but as an adult, trying new items here has yielded delicious meals -[ICED PANDAN GREEN TEA] $6.95 A little on the sweet side but in fairness, I didn't ask them to adjust the sugar level at all. Super tasty and refreshing! -[GRILLED PORK BELLY SKEWERS] $16.95 Comes with four skewers, a side of pickled vegetables, and a delicious sweet sauce to dip them in. In all honesty, the pork belly was well grilled so the each piece had a tasty smokiness to it and each piece remained tender and juicy. I did try it with the sweet sauce on the side and it also paired well that way -[BOAT NOODLE - BEEF] $17.99 Never had boat noodles before but now I want them all the time :D I wanted to order the versiom that had more than just beef in it but I think I ordered incorrectly as that is the version I ended up with. Regardless, it was so tastu that I wish I could have ordered extra noodles haha. The spicy sauce that comes on the side really packs a punch but I could imagine it woud have elevated the soup's flavors if I didn't inhale the bowl of them prior to realizing thee was a side of spicy sauce. -[YOUNG COCONUT ICE CREAM] $7.95 Always a great way to end a meal by ordering dessert! Coconut is one of my most liked flavors for ice cream so seeing this on the menu meant I had to get it. Loved that there were little pieces of coconut in every bite Service was amazing as they were thorough in answering questions about allergies and possible allergens in different dishes. Everyone there also was really kind. I will say one of the customer tables had a menace of a kid running around/throwing food onto the floor but that's the fault of the four adults in their own family not teaching their kid how to behave. Not the fault of the restaurant at all though and I felt sadly for the employees who would have to clean up after that child later on. Overall, definitely a place I'll be back to :D

Dinner tasting menu is pretty good. 80-98$ for 2 people depending on your choice of curry. It comes with chicken skewers, spring rolls, mango salad, Tom yum soup, rice with curry, and pad Thai. Choice of curry include green curry, red curry, curry with brisket and curry with soft shell crab.

    Pad Thai was very tasty

Had dinner with 3 other friends last Sunday night. Service was very tentative, quick and friendly. Our waiter, Ping Pong, was amazing! Food was tasty and hot. It was a bit too cold in the restaurant Would recommend and will go back for sure. One thing to improve on is to mix the Pad Thai dishes before bringing them out to the table. Mixing the dish at your table is difficult when the plate is so full.

Went to Thai Basil and this place had amazing customer service! Everyone was very nice and helpful. The ambiance was very nice too pretty decor and lots of space. Washrooms were clean. Food was okay and prices too. Got the chicken skewers with peanut sauce and it tasted pretty great. But I wasn't a huge fan of the pad Thai

I went with a friend and we got the set for 2. It comes with 4 dishes for $80: three appetizers (mango salad, rolls, and chicken skewers), tom yum soup, paid thai, and a choice of curry (we picked beef brisket curry). The portion sizes were big (we had leftovers). Every single dish was amazing and recommended - full of flavour. My only complaint is my stomach size as I wanted to try their mango sticky rice which looked amazing as well, but I was stuffed! Starting with the mango salad, the mango pieces had a satisfying crunch to it. Doesn't have the sweetness to a mango, but the sauce used was good. The rolls were very crunchy as well and came with the peanut and chilli sauce. Im very biased about chicken skewers and this one hit the spot - juicy and soft! I dipped it in the sauce for the rolls as well and it was delicious. The next dish to come out was the soup. They actually serve it over a fire to keep it hot throughout the meal. Again full of flavour, delicious, a kick of spicy to it. The beef brisket curry was amazing! I wasnt expecting much from it, but the beef literally melted in my mouth. The curry had great flavour. There was a vegetable in it that was delicious (Im not sure what it was - not potato, not parsnip?, something but delicious). Finally the pad thai was amazing. Not a good comparison point but better than thai express for sure. I honestly cannot pick a favourite and even writing this review I now want to go back to eat here again just remembering the taste . The service was not bad. The food came out fairly quickly (the place was empty as I came right when it opened on a Sunday afternoon). The ambiance was nice - dimmed lights with decorations everywhere - but not too busy. There was also a waterfall at the entrance of the restaurant that kept a steady background noise.

The service was great, and the food was quite tasty! Definitely a great spot for a romantic date night, with quick and efficient staff to take care of your every need. However, the protein portions are quite small. Taste: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Setting: 5/5 Value: 3/5 We ordered the Chicken Khao Soy, "Mussamun" Curry Beef Brisket, Roti, BBQ Pork Jowl. The Chicken Khao Soy was very crunchy and the noodles had a great texture. I wish there was more soup with it but it was very good overall, and I would highly recommend it. The Curry Beef Brisket had less brisket than expected for $23, and although it was very tasty, I think there was only 4 small-ish pieces, with a lot of potato. The Roti was good but $6.50 for 2 pieces is also a bit expensive. The BBQ Pork Jowl was marinated very well and delicious, and I would highly recommend the BBQ Pork Jowl. The portion size of the Khao Soy was very reasonable, but there wasn't much pieces of chicken. The staff and service is very, very good, but the price-to-portion amounts leave a bit to be desired.

Good food, service, and really nice, authentic decor, but the prices jumped like 50% last year. My favourite dishes there are seafood curry in pumpkin and a spicy eggplant with tofu. The seafood in pumpkin is now $40, just a year ago it was less than $25. Did the price for seafood go up so much? No, not really. Despite the pricing, the place was full on Saturday night, so it's better to make a reservation in advance. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, and will certainly be back.

Ordered the yellow curry and....mango chicken and...pineapple rice. This location is wonderfully decorated with distressed wood throughout that beautifully divided the seating area. For covid reasons, additional plexiglass installations were placed. I enjoyed the design of this space between the tables, right to the washroom. There was much thought and investment in designing the space. I think the most memorable part of the experience is the high energy staff carried at 9pm. And the frequent " and thank you....and thank you so much" that would be repeated over a dozen times. It's quite charming. I think the only odd thing here is the yellow curry was not served by default with rice so you have to make a side order if you want white rice. For an uptown location, not bad. Almost as good as this thai location downtown. I'll take this over fighting for downtown parking any day.

Thai Basil Ratings: 3.6/5 Food: 3/5 - My boyfriend and I were catching up with a friend in the area, and I wanted Thai. The food is tasty, fresh, but I feel like it's on the pricier side. This feels more like your average neighborhood Thai place, but nothing too special. Please see the description of the item I got for dinner that evening below. - Red Curry [GET]: Craving for Thai curries, so decided on Red tonight. The curry was very flavorful, got a nice kick to it, and delicious. However, I wished the curry was more creamier and thicker, instead it was way too greasy for me. You can see the layer of oil on top. It got a bit heavy towards the end, and can't enjoy the sauce. Veggies are fresh and nicely cooked though, especially the Chinese eggplants. There's a good amount of chicken, and I choose white meat, but dark meat is available. It was tender and moist, love the texture, perfectly cooked. Ambiance: 4/5 - Interior is pretty, dimly-lit, and clean. I love the pastel colored plates they got, and high quality silverwares. There's a ton of tables and booths available, so no need to worry about a wait. The atmosphere is casual and chill, relaxing and comfortable. It is wonderfully decorated with many distressed wood throughout the restaurant. It's definitely a great spot to catch up with friends or having a date night. Parking wasn't an issue at all. Price: 2.5/5 - The red curry chicken was $21.95, and it didn't come with a side of jasmine rice. The rice was $2.99 extra. The total came up to around $27 after tax. I thought the price was insanely high for a bowl of Thai curry, even higher than SF and NYC, so verdict is it's not worth the price point. Service: 3.75/5 - Our server was nice, she sat us down and got us water immediately. She was attentive and prompt as well. Took our orders, and the food came out pretty quickly, probably only take them 15 to 20 minutes. The only thing that was annoying was there's multiple staffs coming around asking us if we are ready to pay when we already did. Felt like they are rushing us to leave. BLUF: Authentic Thai place with upscale interior decorations and designs, so solid spot for dinner. The curries are only the greasier side, so avoid if you are looking for something light. I would recommend the Khao Soi noodles or the grilled chicken, they didn't look that greasy when my boyfriend and my friend got it that night. All in all, probably will not return, there's too many good restaurants to try out in the area.

    Amazing dining experience.

Amazing dining experience. Soft oriental atmosphere, with warm lights and well organized sits. Service excellent; very friendly stuff and fast. Food was very taste with large size portions. I will definitely go back!

I am a regular at Basil Thai. I have been coming for many years. They are by far one of the best Thai restaurants that I go to. They also cater to people with dietary issues. I am able to also eat gluten free here as well. Today, I am having the Panang curry chicken. I have the option of white or dark meat. The food is excellent. The visual appearance of the food is fantastic, the food is perfectly spiced. The staff is exceptional in how they deal with staff, and the food is both delicious and consistent. It's good every single time. I can't think of any way they could improve the presentation of the food, or the experience they provide. I am treated well and the staff has served myself and clients well for many years. Try the dessert rice, it is beautiful and very well executed between textures and flavours. Five stars!!!!!

Recently tried this restaurant, the interior is nicely decorated with portraits and busts of Buddha, staff are friendly, and cozy. We ordered the tasting menu for 2 for $80. It is a great deal, it comes with 3 appetizer (chicken skewer, green mango salad, and spring rolls), a tom yum goong soup, a pad thai, and a choice of a main (price varieties) and we got the mussamun curry beef brisket with rice. The curry beef brisket was my favorite. The beef is very tender and the curry is not spicy at all and it goes perfectly with the steam rice. The skewer was also very good, it's juicy, and not too burned. For 2 people this is definitely a lot of food and great value. I'm hoping to come back to try their dessert since we were too full on our visit.

We were able to order right away and our drinks and ice water were brought out. Our food was brought out fairly quickly, all of it being hot. Roti is a must order item! The noodles were also very tasty with the shrimp not being overcooked. Fried chicken was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy inside. Service was attentive with the servers checking on us every so often and clearing empty plates away. When we were done eating, the server packed up our leftovers for us instead of just giving us containers. You can pay by card or cash, but just be advised that they do not accept $100 bills. We were quickly seated and the service was really attentive and appreciated. At around 6-630pm the restaurant began to quickly fill with couples and families. We had the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring. We really enjoyed the fried chicken, coconut rice of the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring, and the amount of spice in the sambal onion and anchovies. The noodles in the Pad Thai had a firm texture which we liked, but for me the sauce was a bit sweet. If coming to the restaurant from 6pm on a weekend, the parking lot is very busy and you could be circling for a parking spot and having to move around vehicles that are double parked for take-out orders.

I've also had the Szechuan Chicken before and have to admit it's another hit fast food dish. This restaurant has a mash of different menu items including pho, sushi & Thai curry as well. The sushi rolls were passable. It doesn't have to be perfectly authentic to be a good option at the mall. While we've never tried the server experience, the metal takeout tables here work perfectly fine for a quick meal. For our latest meal, we had the Ginger Beef with rice which is another pleasant Chinese takeout dish popularized locally. It came hot out of the kitchen. The deep fry technique here preserved the tenderness of the beef much better than other places where I've tried this dish. It went well with the crispy batter drenched in sweet spicy soy sauce. Skip it or it hit? If you're looking for Asian food at the mall, an occasional visit here is not bad.

We also tried a new offering of their chicken in eggplant boat with rice. It was SO good. The chicken is minced and has a nice spice level to it. With the lockdown, this is only order to go. You better have a good command of Mandarin as their English and or Cantonese is Zero. The staff manning the phones are also quite rude and will hang up if you are not quick enough placing your order. Upon entry, the place is barren, the staff are busy chit chatting with a few bags for the delivery agencies to pickup. The food is a little oily and lacks any true taste of the Fried rice, stir fried cabbage and the chili chicken. The taste is of the spice and oil and not of the main dish that should be the headliner. The plus is a huge parking lot out front for you to wait as they prepare your order. Actually even if you are conversant in Mandarin, it's not smooth sailing either: the system seems quite haphazard & you need to be assertive to get your order in. The dishes are mostly Western Chinese food. Tried the 2 meat & 2 vegetable dishes with rice set twice & both times they were good. The portion was substantial even if not huge. The dishes were not that oily & had a good wok flavour & seemed to be Sichuan style (but not too spicy). They also have a lunch/dinner box with 4 meat & 4 vegetable dishes. I think I heard it cost $38.99 (the price was not on the sign), so it's not for 1 person. The first time I ordered the dishes with rice I was given egg drop soup which was tastier than it looked - pretty good actually. The second time I didn't get offered any. Lanzhou ramen was decent. The meat used was beef (since it's a Chinese Muslim dish). The soup on its own was quite tasty. But somehow together with the noodles & toppings it was not that great. Pumpkin pie was decent. It wasn't that oily. The hot soy bean drink was $2.10. It was alright. They currently have a patio, but the roof is made of translucent red cloth, which explains why my photos all have a reddish tint.
