    Singapore Laksa / 新加坡叻沙

3.5/5 I could feel the Malaysian & Chinese vibes when I stepped in as some servers speaks Malay, and they place the big fish tanks and Buddha near the entrance for Feng Shui & blessing purpose. I read reviews which said they don't answer the phone, that's why I didn't make reservations, it was 75% full and I got seated immediately. We ordered 2 of their signature dishes, Nasi Lemak with fried chickens & Laksa. The fried chicken and sambal sauce were delicious but the rice was not fragrant enough with coconut milk. The Laksa soup base was quite thick and with a lot of noodles but not other ingredients. But overall they tasted authentic and good, we'll go later to try their Hainan chicken rice, bbq skewers, Char Kway Teow, curry & roti in future. They offer 5% discount if pay by cash.

Great flavours! There are not many restaurants around that serve good Malaysian food - I finally found it in Restoran Malaysia. We were in the area, so ordered takeout, which was ready in 20 minutes after phoning in. For my first order at this restaurant, I went with some of my go-to Malaysian dishes. First, the Indonesian Rendang Beef was fabulous. It was slow cooked with galangal, toasted coconut, lemongrass, turmeric, shallots, lime leaves and spices - all nicely seasoned and so much flavour in every bite. It had a nice kick to it - medium level spicy. There was a reasonable amount of beef for the price. Next, the Penang Char Kuay Teow is one of my favourite noodle dishes. It also had a reasonable amount of shrimp and nice 'wok hei' flavour. Last, we tried the Malay Curry Chicken. It too was nicely seasoned and the curry was flavourful. It didn't have as much chicken as I expected, maybe because they used white meat. Next time, I might try one of the Roti with curry dishes instead. Our friends also recommended the Singapore Laksa and Wat Tan Hor (although I don't see it on the Website menu as I write this review). Will have to try a few more dishes for the next round. The bill for three dishes (no rice) came to over $70 so a bit pricey. Overall, the restaurant looked clean and the service staff were pleasant. I did enjoy the food and flavours, so wouldn't hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Best laksa in the city! Also they can adjust the sugar level in their the Tarik now, which we appreciate. We recently went for their laksa and they did not disappoint- loaded with chicken, tofu, fish slices. Also had their curry chicken roti, Singapore chicken and green beans. All were flavorful. Service was also prompt and super friendly, making it a 5 star meal.

Malaysian food is usually hard to find in the GTA so I'm glad this place is available! Got to try it for the first time and it was so interesting. Malaysian food tastes similar to Thai and Indian. I enjoyed the skewers a lot and their version of Roti! Would recommend for people to try this place out!

Located on the south east corner of Bayview and Major Mackenzie. The parking lot is busy and maybe a little tedious to find a spot and very limited number of accessible parking spots. The food is not very authentic and more catered for the Canadian taste with a touch of Malaysian taste. The service is rushed and do not take reservations. Half your party needs to be present before they will seat you. The prices are on the higher side and prefer my east end options

Flavourful curries and roti Food: The roti pisang came with the other two curries at once. The roti pisang with crispy yet slighly sweet and it balanced well with the banana flavour. The beef malay kari was on the sweeter side, and tasted of lots of coconut milk. The nasi lemak with the beef rendang was on the spicier side, with coconut rice, peanuts, cucumber, and egg to help cool down our palettes from the heat. The flavours were unique but not something we would crave again, and the portions were on the smaller side even though the plates were very large. Service: The restaurant was pretty large but we still had to wait about 20 minutes for a table of two. As we sat in the corner, we had to flag down staff for placing orders and getting the bill, which is fairly typical of Asian restaurants. The staff were quite friendly, and let us know when we initially wanted beef rendang that it would duplicated in the nasi lemak, so we opted for Malay kari instead. Atmosphere: The restaurant has been around for a while and is clean and comfortable, but could use some renovations to help modernize the space. There were fish tanks in the entrance and tables throughout the very long dining room.

What a terrific meal. We had the mouton and the chicken roti, chicken and vegetarian spring rolls, green mango salad, fried chicken, and the chicken and beef satay skewers. Everything was simply delicious. The servers were attentive and friendly.

Another take out dinner recently for a celebration dinner with my family. The restaurant has been around for a long time so it is a bit dated now so we didn't care to dine in and went with take out. You can also save a bit with 5% off on cash payment. We had over 10 items to pick up on a Thursday afternoon at 5:30pm and everything was nicely packaged and ready for pick up. I can tell that they timed it well in terms of preparing the dishes as the dishes were still hot when we got home. We ordered 3 fried bananas desserts which came with ice cream so be sure to bring your cooler bag with ice packs if you order this item. We did reheat the fried bananas since it's so much better when it's hot and you can't expect this item to stay hot by the time you get to dessert. I think that this was everyone's favourite and 3 orders were enough for the 8 of us. And the mango ice cream went perfectly! For the appetizers and mains, we got beef satays, Hainanese chicken and both dishes are my favourite. The yellow curry chicken and beef were good too. My daughter really enjoyed their Indonesian fried rice (Nasi Goreng) and curry mutton with roti. Overall, we enjoyed all the dishes and we will definitely be ordering again in the future!

My friends and I never go for this type of cuisine so it was all our first times going to a Malaysian resto. Good for groups and large parties with ample seating. We came here after lunch and there was a lot of free tables. I ordered the Indonesian fried rice that came with shrimp chips. I found the fried rice to be really good. The color/presentation of the dish was appealing, it was aromatic and I expected it to be spicy but it was not. My friends tried a bit of it as well and all said it was good. I would def be ordering this again if I do go back!

Tasty food, friendly server, nice ambience. A pretty decent Malaysian restaurant. The appetizer platter was simply amazing. It came with beef satay, chicken satay, spring rolls, fish cakes, shrimp chips, plum and peanut sauce. Nicely done and satisfying. Singapore Laksa was awesome. The curry laksa soup was fantastically spicy. It went so well with the noodle. It's funny that when we placed the order, the server recommended us to get this but really avoid the Penang Assam Laksa as it was quite bad! Haha, for sure and we've made a good choice. The mango rice pudding was tasty but not well presented. It could have been done better with the plate to make it look more exciting. Overall, it is a recommended Malaysian place!

This is our go to for Malaysian food. Service is always amazing. Yes. It is on the pricier side, but the portion is quite big (I can barely finish 1 entree on my own) and the quality is always great and fresh. Our fav dishes are the curry with roti and pad Thai. We tried the tamarind with fish this time. it's savoury & sour which is quite interesting flavour. We also tried the sweet chili beef tenderloin which is more soya sauce base, so I didn't think it was that special. There's plenty of protein in the entree dishes and most are very saucey so don't forget to order rice on the side. It's quite spacious inside the restaurant. Decor is kinda dated and nothing fancy. Note that their hours are pretty limited (closes at 8pm even on weekends).

2nd time here, and the overall experience is consistent. Since the last time I came here (some years ago) it used to be cash only. Service is excellent and very attentive. Plenty of seating and overall venue is presentable. For food we ordered the following; -Curry sauce with Roti -Assortment of Skewer served with peanut sauce -Beef curry with Roti -Penang Char Kuay Teow -Black pepper beef Kuay Teow Portion wise, well worth it and prices are reasonable. Taste and quality are always maintained.

Decor isn't really anything to write home about, it's not why we came here. The roti canai was super delicious. Roti was flaky and buttery, the curry nicely spiced and waiting to be sopped up by the roti. The Indonesian fried rice was recommended by the staff and it didn't disappoint. Char Kwei Teow was nice, the wok hei was very apparent here as well as the Kang Kung Belacan (water spinach). The hainanese chicken while tasty was very bony (menu said it had bones). Desserts were a perfect way to end the meal

There were a lot of ingredients: cabbage, carrot, choy sum, shrimp, chicken, fish cake & squid. The squid was quite rubbery. The fish cake was not springy. There was a lot of it, maybe to replicate the look even if not the taste & texture of pork. Apam balik was good: pretty thin & crispy, though stickier than average. The filling was quite generous & tasty but the peanuts were pale & tasted a bit raw. Ayam percik: the chicken itself was very tender & juicy & pretty tasty. The curry was rich but a little generic. Char kway teow was good: quite flavourful though it could have a stronger flavour. There was some wok hei. The fish cake was slightly springy & there was quite a bit of squid. There were some chives but they don't serve it on a banana leaf anymore. Fried squid in nonya sauce was pretty tasty & quite spicy. It'd be better with okra or eggplant, not peppers. There was quite a bit of dried shrimp in it (fried squid is stir fried & crispy squid deep fried). Chicken rice rice was pretty good: moist enough & quite gingery. The chicken flavour could be stronger. Chendol was pretty good with rich palm sugar & coconut milk. There were green worms & grass jelly but no red bean. Nonya kueh was pretty good: they looked dodge but tasted about right though they were a bit soft. They have 2 versions of Nasi Lemak. The more expensive version has curry chicken, keropok & peanuts unlike the economy version (which does come with a banana leaf, though). The rice was not very fragrant but the curry was very rich so the smell kind of made up for it. It was not super tasty but was above average & moist enough. The curry was tasty & very rich but had a lot of bone fragments & was annoying to eat; the majority of mouthfuls had at least 1 bone fragment. It is a bad idea to put the curry & peanuts in your mouth at the same time. Sambal had a lot of ikan bilis with some onion but little liquid. It was pretty good though if you like to put it as a paste on your rice you will be disappointed. Keropok was very crispy & pretty tasty.

The green curry is a staple, also decent spice but that creamy coconut and the chicken, green peppers and bamboo shoots work together so well. On a bed of rice, it's delicious. We also tried a new offering of their chicken in eggplant boat with rice. It was SO good. The chicken is minced and has a nice spice level to it.
