Updating this review to say that we keep coming back here because jatujak has that authentic Thai taste and spice. Pad Thai is still just as huge a dish as always with peanuts, chicken, tofu, tons and tons of noodles and the delicious tamarind sauce with a tiny hint of spice. Pad kee mao - mild or medium depending on your taste - has that aromatic basil and those perfectly cooked yet still crunchy vegetables. Large flat noodles that fill you up! The green curry is a staple, also decent spice but that creamy coconut and the chicken, green peppers and bamboo shoots work together so well. On a bed of rice, it's delicious. We also tried a new offering of their chicken in eggplant boat with rice. It was SO good. The chicken is minced and has a nice spice level to it. The eggplant is soft and just goes so well with the chicken, spice and rice. Service is always on point - friendly people, food comes out hot and quick. Came to try their lunch special menu that has a wide range of dishes ranging from 11-15$. The ambiance was a bit dim but it was fine for us since we came at noon. Unfortunately, the service was quite mediocre. It took a while for someone to finally come to our table to take our order and we had to ask multiple times for water even though it wasn't that busy. We ordered the Green Curry Chicken Rice, Basil Chicken Rice, Grilled Garlic Chicken Rice, and their Chicken Pad Thai. The Green Curry was really creamy and had a strong curry flavor and the chicken was all quite tender in all 4 dishes. The pad thai was a bit too tangy for my taste. Everything was good/decent but not spectacular and the portion sizes were quite standard. Not large but not small either. Overall: great place for a quick, affordable lunch. Not the best Thai food, but it's great for the price. Also the washroom is downstairs and is not easily accessible. This is the original location! I would start by saying arrive earlier because the parking lot can become chaotic and you may have to wait for a spot. The restaurant is nicely lit and adorned with Thai decorations. I highly recommend trying out the Tom yum soup, it if flavourful and serves as a great mini appetizer for your meal. Honourable mentions: fried fish with tamarind, crab fried rice and pad sew ew. Dishes to Skip: -Pad Thai if you prefer traditional tamarind based sauces, we found this dish to be ketchup heavy. -Tapioca dessert- was dense and low on coconut flavour As for service, waiters and staff were pleasant, always around to help and we were reminded a few times by different waiters that the seating limit was 2hrs. To start, we had reservations for 7p and arrived at 6:50pm. (We finished and paid in about 1hr 30) I completely understand seating limits for busy restaurants but there were no other reservations after ours and the place was empty when we left (8:30pm on a Friday). Had a really good experience taking my mom here for dinner tonight (on a Thursday). I got the khao soi and my mom got the red curry. Both dishes had generous portions... we were particular surprised with the curry dish since they usually come in a small dish with rice on the side based on our past experiences at Thai restaurants. But the curry dish here came in a large plate with a decent amount of meat. I really enjoyed my khao soi. It was tasty, the beef I got it with was soft and tender, and the presentation of the floating noodle was a nice added touch. The service was also great -- food came fast and while the servers didn't particular explicitly come to check on us, you could tell they were keeping an eye out. They've decorated the space for Christmas... it's really cozy and cute and has a warm ambiance to it. Consistently delicious! I've been to this location so many times over almost a decade and they never disappoint. I really like the variety of dishes and the fact that they have specials. Finally got a chance to try this Jatujak. It's a street-style Thai food eatery. Quite good compare to their Scarborough location (Steeles & Middlefield)! Pla Rad Prik - deep fried fish fillet with spicy sauce. Amazing! This fish fillet was really hot hot hot! Freshly prepared, so crunchy. Great Thai chili flavor gave out great excitement. Tender fillet and yet not mushy. The use of green peppercorn gave very good flavor yet not overly powered the sauce. It was an amazing dish. Must try. There's a reason why there are 3 Jatukjak locations. This place rocks! I called to put in an order for pickup. They quoted me 15 minutes but were probably ready in about 10. The only downside to this place is that the parking lot of this plaza is kind of narrow and there are always a lot of cars coming in and out for the different food places so it can get a little hectic. It's also not the nicest plaza but rest assured it's cozy and comfortable inside the restaurant. If you've ordered ahead, head towards the back of the restaurant where the bar is. That's where you can pick up and pay for your order. First impression - there were sooo many take up orders ready for pickup! A very popular place for Friday dinner. We ordered two chicken pad thais. They use microwavable plastic containers for take out. Everything was packaged in a plastic bag with their logo on it. Everything was super hot and warm to the touch outside of the bag. Now for the food. I thought it was a really great pad thai. Some have hug stems of green onion but they thinly sliced those and red onions so they were palatable. The sauce was great. Their take out game is strong! The online ordering app is probably one of the better ones I've see, without a mark up! It's simple to use, and doesn't require a credit card (you can pay in person). I've noticed food quality has changed at most of my favourite spots across the city, but Jatujak has been consistent. The curries are as flavourful as ever, and the ingredients have been fresh. Staff were friendly and the service and attention was excellent. Our meal began with Singha beer and a Mojito beverage along with a tall bottle of water (which became a life saver!) The appetizer was an order of 3 Vegetable Spring Rolls quickly followed by our entrees of Pad Kee Mao w/5 tiger shrimps (...chicken, beef or tofu were the other selections) and a Holy Bail w/Egg and beef (...chicken was the other selection). Get the green and red curry with chicken and the mango sticky rice. We've tried the noodles and the different curries, and these are our staples. The massaman curry is a little flat, and the pad see ew is too sweet - I think they added too much sugar in with the sauce because the noodles clumped together. I wish I knew how to recreate the curries at home. The spice is just right, and this is the extremely rare instance in which if I don't have enough rice to go with the curry, I would happy drink the rest of it like soup. I'm not a fan of food coloring, but the sticky rice is perfect with the ripe mangos and coconut milk. Still have to try to stirfry options - hope they're as good as the curries! A lot of people compare this place to Pai in downtown, and I have to say that this is a much better setting (less noise, less wait, a little more spacious) with easier parking. Pad Thai is a really hard dish to make, a good authentic Pad Thai. My favourite spot in Toronto is Pai, but that was kinda far so I decided to try Jatujak. There's 3 locations in Toronto and I checked this one. Staff were friendly, food was meh. Came here on a whim one late Saturday night. Wanted to try something new on their menu and it did not disappoint! I ordered their chicken Khao soi which is curry with a side of crispy noodles and an order of their deep fried soft shell crab. The Khao soi was super delicious with a little kick, and the soft shell crab was also very tasty. There was about 4 half pieces of crab which equate to about 2 whole small crabs, while the rest was just veggies. The way they packaged their food to go should be mentioned as well, because they do such a good job at maintaining the integrity of the food. Hits: Beef Khao Soi (We got it mild spicy): The broth is LEGIT. Came here for dinner on Saturday night. Based on the number of people I saw, a reservation is a must. From the outside, Jatujak looks like a small restaurant in a dingy strip mall. However, when you go inside, the decor is modern and cool. There's also a large dining area in the back of the restaurant. I absolutely detest cilantro so I don't really go out for Thai, but I'm glad that I came here. The Holy Basil with Egg was delicious. I'm trying to go low-carb and had a somewhat carb heavy lunch so I opted for no rice. In spite of not having rice, this dish was still very easily enjoyed. I love spice and thought that it could have been spicier. For next time, I will have to request a little bit more of spice. The price point was average - my dish was about $15. I didn't get any alcohol or their Thai Iced Tea. I would love to return and try one of their curries. As someone who is not the biggest fan of Thai food, but wants to return, that says a lot. I'd rate 3.5 if I could. I dined in this restaurant with my husband and son in a Sunday lunch and ordered Pad Thai, Khao Soi and Tapioca pudding. I really quite liked this little hidden location. My friend and I were looking for a place to go for a little girls catch-up dinner and she recommended this place (we both had a Thai craving). Walking in it seems like a small space but then they have this entire back room which is beautifully and simply decorated. I thought "wow.. why not decorate the entire space this way?". but I'm just happy to have been able to sit in such a serene space. My friend is vegetarian so she had to make a few adjustments to her dish but they were more than accommodating. I ordered a beef pad thai with no tofu and wow it was delicious!!!!! I recommend the Thai Iced Tea ($4.25) and liked that it was served in a mason jar. The only downside was that it tasted a bit watered down, but was still good nonetheless and I finished all of it. I would order it again but ask for less ice. I think I've tried enough dishes on my initial visit to get an idea of what the food is like. It's alright, not bad, but not good enough to prompt a second visit (for my personal taste). Vegetable Cold Rolls with Peanut Sauce ($6.95) - this was very light & refreshing. The rolls are packed and are a good portion for the price. I love the peanut sauce that's served with it. I would've preferred something more substantial so next time I would go for the shrimp one. Shrimp Chips ($4.95) - thick and crunchy with a tiny hint of spiciness to it. Nam Tok Nua/Spicy Beef Salad ($11.95) - consists of beef, lettuce, onions, tomato. The beef is tough and chewy. Lemongrass Chicken Wings ($9.95) - comes with 7 wings. This is good as a shared appetizer. I wouldn't eat more than two because it's very sweet and saucy. I think it was supposed to be a little spicy but I didn't taste it. Tom Yum Soup ($6.95) - exploding with spicy/sour flavours as tom yum soup should be. We added chicken (+$1) and shrimp (+$2). The chicken was a good choice because there was A LOT of chicken added to it, but only two pieces of shrimp. Jatujak Pad Thai ($11.95) - added chicken (+$2). This was my second time trying this dish. The first time I tried it was takeout and I didn't eat it until almost 1.5 hrs later. It was still so delicious with strong flavours! I was excited to have it fresh this time but it tasted different. It almost tasted too sweet. However, it was still good and the portion is HUGE. Definitely something to share between a few people. Pad Kee Mao ($11.95) - dish is moderate tasting, a little bit spicy. I would say skip this dish, there's nothing unique about it. Again, it's huge and definitely meant for sharing. Khao Soi (Beef - $14.95) - egg noodles with the perfect texture in a yellow curry sauce, topped with crunchy fried onions (I think). This was pretty good. I enjoyed the crunch factor and would recommend it. The beef was a little tough so I avoided it. Gaeng Kiew Whan ($11.95) - this is a green curry dish served with rice. I thought this tasted really good. Again, this is a big portion and we even got additional rice to pair with the curry. The staff were friendly and considerate.
