Green curry chicken with jasmine rice
Cynthia Y.

Dinner tasting menu is pretty good. 80-98$ for 2 people depending on your choice of curry. It comes with chicken skewers, spring rolls, mango salad, Tom yum soup, rice with curry, and pad Thai. Choice of curry include green curry, red curry, curry with brisket and curry with soft shell crab.

Pad Thai was very tasty

Had dinner with 3 other friends last Sunday night. Service was very tentative, quick and friendly. Our waiter, Ping Pong, was amazing! Food was tasty and hot. It was a bit too cold in the restaurant Would recommend and will go back for sure. One thing to improve on is to mix the Pad Thai dishes before bringing them out to the table. Mixing the dish at your table is difficult when the plate is so full.

Went to Thai Basil and this place had amazing customer service! Everyone was very nice and helpful. The ambiance was very nice too pretty decor and lots of space. Washrooms were clean. Food was okay and prices too. Got the chicken skewers with peanut sauce and it tasted pretty great. But I wasn't a huge fan of the pad Thai

I went with a friend and we got the set for 2. It comes with 4 dishes for $80: three appetizers (mango salad, rolls, and chicken skewers), tom yum soup, paid thai, and a choice of curry (we picked beef brisket curry). The portion sizes were big (we had leftovers). Every single dish was amazing and recommended - full of flavour. My only complaint is my stomach size as I wanted to try their mango sticky rice which looked amazing as well, but I was stuffed! Starting with the mango salad, the mango pieces had a satisfying crunch to it. Doesn't have the sweetness to a mango, but the sauce used was good. The rolls were very crunchy as well and came with the peanut and chilli sauce. Im very biased about chicken skewers and this one hit the spot - juicy and soft! I dipped it in the sauce for the rolls as well and it was delicious. The next dish to come out was the soup. They actually serve it over a fire to keep it hot throughout the meal. Again full of flavour, delicious, a kick of spicy to it. The beef brisket curry was amazing! I wasnt expecting much from it, but the beef literally melted in my mouth. The curry had great flavour. There was a vegetable in it that was delicious (Im not sure what it was - not potato, not parsnip?, something but delicious). Finally the pad thai was amazing. Not a good comparison point but better than thai express for sure. I honestly cannot pick a favourite and even writing this review I now want to go back to eat here again just remembering the taste . The service was not bad. The food came out fairly quickly (the place was empty as I came right when it opened on a Sunday afternoon). The ambiance was nice - dimmed lights with decorations everywhere - but not too busy. There was also a waterfall at the entrance of the restaurant that kept a steady background noise.

"Mussamun" Curry Beef Brisket

The service was great, and the food was quite tasty! Definitely a great spot for a romantic date night, with quick and efficient staff to take care of your every need. However, the protein portions are quite small. Taste: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Setting: 5/5 Value: 3/5 We ordered the Chicken Khao Soy, "Mussamun" Curry Beef Brisket, Roti, BBQ Pork Jowl. The Chicken Khao Soy was very crunchy and the noodles had a great texture. I wish there was more soup with it but it was very good overall, and I would highly recommend it. The Curry Beef Brisket had less brisket than expected for $23, and although it was very tasty, I think there was only 4 small-ish pieces, with a lot of potato. The Roti was good but $6.50 for 2 pieces is also a bit expensive. The BBQ Pork Jowl was marinated very well and delicious, and I would highly recommend the BBQ Pork Jowl. The portion size of the Khao Soy was very reasonable, but there wasn't much pieces of chicken. The staff and service is very, very good, but the price-to-portion amounts leave a bit to be desired.

Good food, service, and really nice, authentic decor, but the prices jumped like 50% last year. My favourite dishes there are seafood curry in pumpkin and a spicy eggplant with tofu. The seafood in pumpkin is now $40, just a year ago it was less than $25. Did the price for seafood go up so much? No, not really. Despite the pricing, the place was full on Saturday night, so it's better to make a reservation in advance. Overall, I recommend this restaurant, and will certainly be back.

Ordered the yellow curry and....mango chicken and...pineapple rice. This location is wonderfully decorated with distressed wood throughout that beautifully divided the seating area. For covid reasons, additional plexiglass installations were placed. I enjoyed the design of this space between the tables, right to the washroom. There was much thought and investment in designing the space. I think the most memorable part of the experience is the high energy staff carried at 9pm. And the frequent " and thank you....and thank you so much" that would be repeated over a dozen times. It's quite charming. I think the only odd thing here is the yellow curry was not served by default with rice so you have to make a side order if you want white rice. For an uptown location, not bad. Almost as good as this thai location downtown. I'll take this over fighting for downtown parking any day.

Red Curry w/ Chicken

Thai Basil Ratings: 3.6/5 Food: 3/5 - My boyfriend and I were catching up with a friend in the area, and I wanted Thai. The food is tasty, fresh, but I feel like it's on the pricier side. This feels more like your average neighborhood Thai place, but nothing too special. Please see the description of the item I got for dinner that evening below. - Red Curry [GET]: Craving for Thai curries, so decided on Red tonight. The curry was very flavorful, got a nice kick to it, and delicious. However, I wished the curry was more creamier and thicker, instead it was way too greasy for me. You can see the layer of oil on top. It got a bit heavy towards the end, and can't enjoy the sauce. Veggies are fresh and nicely cooked though, especially the Chinese eggplants. There's a good amount of chicken, and I choose white meat, but dark meat is available. It was tender and moist, love the texture, perfectly cooked. Ambiance: 4/5 - Interior is pretty, dimly-lit, and clean. I love the pastel colored plates they got, and high quality silverwares. There's a ton of tables and booths available, so no need to worry about a wait. The atmosphere is casual and chill, relaxing and comfortable. It is wonderfully decorated with many distressed wood throughout the restaurant. It's definitely a great spot to catch up with friends or having a date night. Parking wasn't an issue at all. Price: 2.5/5 - The red curry chicken was $21.95, and it didn't come with a side of jasmine rice. The rice was $2.99 extra. The total came up to around $27 after tax. I thought the price was insanely high for a bowl of Thai curry, even higher than SF and NYC, so verdict is it's not worth the price point. Service: 3.75/5 - Our server was nice, she sat us down and got us water immediately. She was attentive and prompt as well. Took our orders, and the food came out pretty quickly, probably only take them 15 to 20 minutes. The only thing that was annoying was there's multiple staffs coming around asking us if we are ready to pay when we already did. Felt like they are rushing us to leave. BLUF: Authentic Thai place with upscale interior decorations and designs, so solid spot for dinner. The curries are only the greasier side, so avoid if you are looking for something light. I would recommend the Khao Soi noodles or the grilled chicken, they didn't look that greasy when my boyfriend and my friend got it that night. All in all, probably will not return, there's too many good restaurants to try out in the area.

Amazing dining experience.

Amazing dining experience. Soft oriental atmosphere, with warm lights and well organized sits. Service excellent; very friendly stuff and fast. Food was very taste with large size portions. I will definitely go back!

Beautiful Panang curry chicken.

I am a regular at Basil Thai. I have been coming for many years. They are by far one of the best Thai restaurants that I go to. They also cater to people with dietary issues. I am able to also eat gluten free here as well. Today, I am having the Panang curry chicken. I have the option of white or dark meat. The food is excellent. The visual appearance of the food is fantastic, the food is perfectly spiced. The staff is exceptional in how they deal with staff, and the food is both delicious and consistent. It's good every single time. I can't think of any way they could improve the presentation of the food, or the experience they provide. I am treated well and the staff has served myself and clients well for many years. Try the dessert rice, it is beautiful and very well executed between textures and flavours. Five stars!!!!!

Recently tried this restaurant, the interior is nicely decorated with portraits and busts of Buddha, staff are friendly, and cozy. We ordered the tasting menu for 2 for $80. It is a great deal, it comes with 3 appetizer (chicken skewer, green mango salad, and spring rolls), a tom yum goong soup, a pad thai, and a choice of a main (price varieties) and we got the mussamun curry beef brisket with rice. The curry beef brisket was my favorite. The beef is very tender and the curry is not spicy at all and it goes perfectly with the steam rice. The skewer was also very good, it's juicy, and not too burned. For 2 people this is definitely a lot of food and great value. I'm hoping to come back to try their dessert since we were too full on our visit.

Rotten mango

The "chef" whoever made the dish needs to be fired because their kitchen's cleanness is definitely a BIG red flag. I had to spit out a piece of steel wool scrubber from the curry I ordered and found hair in the "Tung Choi". The mango in the sticky rice dessert has gone bad and tasted like shit. Total of four dishes ordered and three of them were pure rubbish. The waitress took the curry and said the kitchen would make a new one for me. Then she brought the same curry dish with different plate layout. Not sure if Thai Basil was a restaurant for people to eat food or something evil. My appetite was ruined for days

Not my first time at this restaurant, but it definitely has been over a decade since my last visit…read more Went for lunch today and it was a bit busier than I thought it would be for 1pm, which is great for the restaurant considering people are dining out less these days. We were seated right away and menus provided at the same time. There was a Lunch Special menu but we decided to order full portions from the regular menu. We were able to order right away and our drinks and ice water were brought out. Our food was brought out fairly quickly, all of it being hot. Roti is a must order item! The noodles were also very tasty with the shrimp not being overcooked. Fried chicken was crispy on the outside and nice and juicy inside. Service was attentive with the servers checking on us every so often and clearing empty plates away. When we were done eating, the server packed up our leftovers for us instead of just giving us containers. You can pay by card or cash, but just be advised that they do not accept $100 bills. Parking was pretty easy to get a spot that wasn't too far from the entrance.

We were quickly seated and the service was really attentive and appreciated. At around 6-630pm the restaurant began to quickly fill with couples and families. We had the chicken and shrimp Pad Thai and the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring. We really enjoyed the fried chicken, coconut rice of the Nasi Lemak Ayam Goring, and the amount of spice in the sambal onion and anchovies. The noodles in the Pad Thai had a firm texture which we liked, but for me the sauce was a bit sweet. If coming to the restaurant from 6pm on a weekend, the parking lot is very busy and you could be circling for a parking spot and having to move around vehicles that are double parked for take-out orders.
