Pho Saigon has been around for many years. I find they serve Vietnamese comfort food with home cooked flavours. The pork chop and beef rice dish was decent portion and there was enough for leftovers. The House special Pho had a nice rich broth with rare beef, tripe, and beef balls. The large size is a good portion if you want to share and try different dishes. The service here was friendly and quick. We came here for Mother's day and they gave put complimentary cassava cakes to the mothers. Small gestures like this go a long way in creating connections and friendship with your customers. I will definitely come back here when I am craving Pho or rice dishes. read more

Pho Saigon has been around in Pickering for a very long time. I've been there many times since it's close to home. They recently offered complimentary pho on October 22nd and, of course, I had to take advantage of the offer. I had their beef pho along with their Thai spring rolls. Since my spring roll purchase last month, we wanted to make another return. The review this time is mixed, here's the reason: Tasty pho, good spring rolls. Tofu fresh roll is ridiculous with super small piece of tofu. The pho broth is tasty. The spring rolls is good. The pickled carrot/radish is not as good as other places, but considering it is mostly just a garnish (even though I eat it), it's acceptable, I guess. Grilled chicken vermicelli is delicious. The tofu fresh roll is a complete waste of money. Two thick rolls thats filled with noodles, some veg, and a small piece of tofu that's as long as, but HALF as thick as my thumb (about 2inches long, 3/4inch wide, 1/2cm thick), is not worth $10. It's just tofu, it's not steak, either put more tofu or lower the price, because that is ridiculous. Including pic of the tofu fresh roll cut to show the size of the tofu thats actually hidden under all the noodles until I pull it out to the front. When we went in, the whole place smelled like cleaning solution. Not a very appetitizing smell at all. We got the food to go. read more

One of the few pho spots in Durham, and honestly a solid option if you're craving something quick and comforting. The service is fast, and the casual ambiance makes it perfect for an in-and-out meal when you don't want to linger too long. Decent Vietnamese food needs some extra love in the house that built it. Lunch here was pretty tasty and satisfying, i really enjoyed the fresh rolls and the chicken curry and rice dish. The service was fast and friendly by a young girl whom I forgot to get her name. She was very helpful and attentive. However the restaurant itself is in need of a cleanup and a fix up. It's old and drab, you can tell it's worn down. The sign outside is new but it's time to change the inside. And get rid of that tv, there's no need for CP24 when I'm trying to enjoy a nice meal. We're in the neighbourhood regularly now and found a serious lack of good asian eats in Pickering. Scouring Yelp for some insights, we stumbled upon Pho Saigon. I'm glad we have a decent pho staple here now. It's your average looking, unassuming viet place - still carrying okay prices as opposed to the ones in Markham which charge over $21 a bowl of noodles now. It's nothing fancy here, but you know you're getting consistency and comfort. Good quality noodles that hit the spot. I usually go for the Pho Dac Biet, but occasionally will get a Viet Bun (vermicelli noodles) when I'm not wanting to have hot soup. I don't love the apps here, but the mains are generally what we come for anyway so it doesn't matter. I do LOVE the tea they serve. I believe they serve jasmine. It just helps get the appetite and comfort feels going. It's never been too swamped here at this location, so it's always easy to grab a seat and get service fast. Staff here seem to be family which I love! They're really friendly and quick. read more

We ordered rice with pork chops and beef. Beef was dry but porkchops was good. Added sunny side egg and a side chicken soup which was great. The plate overall was average - nothing memorable. Not great or bad. Fish sauce was a bit too strong - as in not enough lime/lemon in it or sugar. The tea cups were a bit chipped. Pho - medium size was huuuuge with lots of noodles. Meat was ok. Overall good experience and would go back. Not memorable but good location and Durham doesn't have much to offer in terms of good Vietnamese. Best around if you're willing to drive to Ajax from Pickering is "good pho you." Pho Saigon probably the best around pickering though. Oh and service was great!! I was in Pickering last night and craving Vietnamese food. Pho Saigon showed up as the closest place and so my boyfriend and I went. It's located in a plaza with the Works and across from the Loblaws and GoodLife Fitness with ample parking. When we arrived, the dining room was only half full. By the time we were eating and leaving it was pretty full. We were ushered to a booth and it was very spacious. Both my boyfriend and I ordered the pho house special. The sizes come in M, L, and XL. I got the M and my boyfriend got the L. The portion size was huge. The broth tasted delicious. And I thought they were very generous with the meat. We also ordered the four piece deep fried spring rolls and they were really tasty too. It comes with fish sauce and the pho comes with fresh bean sprouts, mint, and lime. The prices were very affordable too. However, service was a bit slow but it was only because we didn't know we had to pay up at the front. Would definitely come back here again if I'm craving a hearty bowl of soup in Pickering. read more

The first time I went there, I had their house special pho, and the broth was pretty tasteless which was very sad. The noodles and other components were quite good, so having tasteless broth made it even more sad. But the second time I went there and got the same pho, it was much better, meaning that the broth had some flavour, but cannot say that was a pack of flavours like the one that I tried in Vietnam. Their size dishes like spring rolls, summer rolls are quite good, but a little bit pricy size for the portion. The flavour of their spring rolls is quite good and enjoyable. Need to confess that we live in Pickering, but this is not our go-to for pho...first visit back (since COVID) for a dinner date with my 7 yo. Food is good, but not my favourite place for pho and other Viet dishes, but will definitely return again in the near future as I was quite impressed and felt very safe dining here. They have strategically placed 8 tables to meet the current COVID distancing and diligent with checking everyone's vaccination and ID as soon as patrons enter the resto to dine-in. Totally recommend for anyone who may be hesitant on dining out due to the less-than-comfortable distance between patrons (as I have at some restos). read more

This Vietnamese restaurant is average. The food is on par with other Vietnamese restaurants, but it isn't anything extraordinary. Prices are a few dollars more than comparable restaurants in the area. Expect to pay $14-16/bowl. Pho Saigon's location is quite conveniently located right by 401 and Pickering Town Centre. The interior of the restaurant is clean and nicely decorated with an Asian theme... (Not too many Pho places can be described as such since a lot of them are like tables and chairs and that's it!) Rare Beef and Tripes Pho M ($7) - Not too many beef... ok.. not many as 4 thinly sliced beef... and a little tripes - Noodle is the dried type... not bad.. but I don't expect any fresh ones from any restaurant that not in Toronto... - Broth is not bad... not too salty.. not too much MSG since I did not find myself been really thirsty even during my yoga class afterwards Services here is efficient... Just by the mercy of their location and my family's pho addiction, I still frequent this place. I must say, the dining experience here has gotten better since my original review. The pho still leaves a lot to be desired but I wouldn't say it's horrible. I do, however, have a beef with their version of the satay sauce which is just oily and flavourless. Visited during the COVID-19 pandemic to satisfy a serious pho craving. A+ for social distancing procedures -- all staff wore masks, tables were separated and contact tracing occurred at the door. They separated sanitized pens from used pens, which I thought was just delightful! Pho - just ok. Ordered the rare beef and brisket. Rare beef was not rare when it arrived at my table, which was disappointing. Felt like a lot of soup and not enough noodles. Noodles themselves were well prepared. Spring rolls - really good! I Have visited this establishment before for its' pho, I normally always get the vegetarian pho with mushroom broth. This time I thought I'd try something different. Had the vegetarian coconut mushroom soup ($10.50), for $2 extra you can even add rice noodles to the soup. I must say it was amazing, it is labeled as spicy on the menu but it was not over the top spicy, it was just the right amount. The soup was loaded with vegetables and a good amount of fried tofu. It was one size and I came to the restaurant hungry, but could not finish the amount. I have tried Thai coconut milk soups before, but this one was exceptional, very tasty, lots of flavour and a good amount of crunchy and soft in one soup. Some of the main vegetables were mushroom, bean sprouts, tomatoes and even some pineapple. I also ordered a side of fresh rolls with shrimp, it pairs very well with the coconut soup or pho. Fresh rolls were indeed fresh and a great add on. My boyfriend on the other hand thought this place was very underwhelming. His green Thai chicken curry was very mediocre. It was full of vegetables and not enough chicken. It was not very authentic but what do you expect out in Durham region. I LOVE THIS LOCATION!!! They have a Thai menu along with the Vietnamese menu that is SO good that I haven't seen at other Pho Saigon locations. Being a vegetarian, I haven't had all the dishes there, but my staples are the Vegetable Thai Green Curry with rice, Vegetarian spring rolls with vermicelli and the vegeterian pho (tofu, bokchoy, brocolli, onion) The food there is very fresh and tasty, and you get a lot for your money. The service there is excellent. I go there very often and the staff there remember us and what we like to order. The atmosphere is very clean and nice. Wife and I go it for dinner, She orders the mango salad, I order the the house special soup, Her salad comes in no more than 5 min. She try's it and it was terrible! He taste was bad and then she still has the sticker on the red pepper, then a tiny bug comes walking out while she tries only the second bite! We where more upset at the sticker than any other because it shows that they don't care to at leas wash the food, that would have been noticed. We walked out and they, the manager as well, couldn't figure out our issue after trying to explain it over and over again... Went to Pho Saigon on a weekday night with a buddy of mine. Didn't really know what to expect as we are both Pho addicts from the Markham/Unionville area. Was pleasantly surprised. We both ordered the large house special Phos and their portions/price are about in tune with their Markham siblings. The bowls had a large amount of noodles with a fair amount of meat mixed in and their broth was pretty good. We also had a side order of shrimp spring rolls but found that they were pretty skimpy with the shrimp. Overall a pretty good experience though and I have definitely found my new Pho den in Pickering! read more
