Chicken fried steak

Stopped in to have some catfish recently and just loved how large the portions are. Service was relatively quick considering they made my order fresh. Iced tea was delicious. I love not having to wait for a refill.

Big Portions. Bold Flavor. True TEXAZ Style. I finally made my first visit to TEXAZ Grill in Phoenix -- just in time for their 40th anniversary celebration! For this milestone, they've teamed up with local favorite Chef Rich Hinojosa (formerly of CRUjiente Tacos) to craft a special menu highlighting the best of both worlds - Texas classics with a local twist. From the crispy Puffy Tacos to their legendary Chicken Fried Steak, every bite delivers that hearty, no-frills Texas comfort the Valley has loved for four decades. Where friendly faces meet a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. To celebrate the anniversary of this local dining institution, the community is invited to experience new menu creations or savor TEXAZ Grill favorites that have stood the test of time -- all while enjoying great food, cold drink specials, and plenty of TEXAZ-style fun. Whether it's your first visit or one of many memorable meals, make sure to stop in and support local -- because places like TEXAZ Grill are what keep Phoenix's food scene bold, flavorful, and full of heart. 6003 N 16th St Phoenix

Really nice. First time here and not at all disappointed. The inside is really fun. And has all these decor around. The food however also pretty good. I had the steak and eggs. The steak personally could've used more salt and so could the potatoes. I had the Sunday driver as well. Tastes like oj and vodka. My mom had the burger and it's a big burger. The burger beef is very soft and easy to eat and flavorful. My steak was easy to cut as well. The waitress was very friendly and I'd come back. Maybe next time I'll try the country friend steak they advertise

I live up the street from this place, and it was already a great experience being able to walk to it. Upon arrival, the inside is so much fun. Quite the exciting atmosphere, very Texan-country vibes. We arrived for dinner, and were seated almost right away. The waitress was very attentive, personable, and nice. She offered the specials, gave us some ideas about the menu, and notified us of their most famous dishes. After looking over the menu, I decided to go with the CFC (Chicken Friend Chicken), with mashed potatoes and French fries, with my gravy on the side. Before the entrees came out, the waitress dropped off some of their buttermilk biscuits, which I gotta say, were probably the best I've ever had. I've never been a huge fan of them previously, because most of the one I've experienced were dense, dry, and quite crumbly. TexAZ's biscuits were perfectly light, buttery, and soft. SO Good! Our entrees came out and they most certainly did not disappoint. The CFC comes with TWO, full-sized chicken breasts, fried to perfection. It's not a super thick batter, which makes for a really nice crisp crunch. The chicken was quite juicy and flavorful, and adding a little of their gravy on it only enhanced the dish even further. The mashed potatoes were also fantastic, and the French fries were very fresh, and lightly salted. Overall, the experience was great, the service was great, the food was great. Highly recommend if you are wanting something that feels like home-cooked, comfort food.

Sunday brunch- fried eggs over chicken fried steak over biscuits and gravy, with a side of home fries.

Good thing I came here hungry. The Sunday brunch of fried eggs over chicken fried steak over biscuits and gravy, with a side, was very tasty, very filling, and very well priced. The friendly servers were very efficient and the atmosphere was very relaxed and informal.

Chicken fried steak with mashed potatos

Party of 8. They accommodated us when they were full of reservations. And account of a somber occasion being celebrated for my friend that was leaving out of the country the next day. Majority got their famous chicken fried steak. Hot home made biscuits, mashed potatos and buttery corn were some of my favorite. Best of the best servers when it comes to hospitality here. And you really can't mess with an institution like TEXAZ.

I've lived in the valley for over a decade and have never been to Texas Grill and I sad about it. The food have a really good dinner vibes. It's a little dark and the walls are busy but it's also kinda cool as you can find something new every time you come in. The food was good and plentiful seasoned well hot and I got exactly what I wanted!

Portions are gigantic so come hungry! But everything was hot and delicious! Good home style cooking! Prices are really reasonable for how much food you get and beers are cheap as well! Service was friendly and prompt and the overall vibes are good

Prime rib with some great smokey flavor
Krissy H.

Very cowboyesk.... Their prime rib was absolutely phenomenal - seriously smoky and delicious. I was *blown away* by that. The chicken fried chicken sandwich, though? Eh, it was okay, nothing to write home about. I needed to doctor it up a bit - added some coleslaw (with a healthy dose of Tabasco ), because it needed a little something extra, The bun came dry. There was again tomato pickle, lettuce and onion on the side. The chicken was a bit greasy, and the mashed potatoes, while super delish and the gravy was amazing with some lumps and peels. The only downside was the wait time. It took about an hour to get our food, and the place wasn't even that busy. Sounds like they might have been training some new staff. Overall, though, the prime rib and mashed potatoes made it worth the visit! Highly recommend trying that.

Consistently good. No frills food with a country roadhouse style setting. Service is top notch. All the ladies work really hard and are super friendly. I love the filet mignon with 2 sides and biscuit (loads of leftovers). Thursday night only they have a BBQ special, which my husband loved. His usual is the ribeye so visiting the first time on a Thursday, he got to try to bbq special. We visit this place for quick easy and quality steaks without breaking the bank.

Prime rib with horseradish.

This place has a great vibe, service and food. We enjoyed the food from scratch. My margarita was yummy and strong. Chicken fired steak and prime rib did not disappoint. Peach cobbler like mama used to make.

From the very first glance, it felt like something I had been craving without even realizing it. The ribbons of tagliatelle were impossibly light, perfectly coated, not weighed down but lifted by a delicate, silky sauce that clung to every bite like it belonged there. And then--the lobster. Sweet, tender, and rich in that unmistakable way that only fresh lobster can be, it didn't just complement the dish, it elevated it into something unforgettable. But the real thrill? Breaking into that lobster claw. There was something almost ceremonial about it--the crack, the reveal, the reward. It turned the meal into an experience, something interactive and satisfying in a way that went beyond flavor. It was indulgent, yes--but also playful, exciting, and deeply gratifying. Every bite felt like rediscovery. Like reminding myself why pasta has earned its place as one of life's simplest but most profound pleasures. After five years, this wasn't just worth the wait--it exceeded every expectation I had built up in my mind. This wasn't just a dish. It was a comeback.

If you had a question, he got an answer. If you needed anything, he got it covered. He provided a very relaxing evening after a long work week. Additionally, all of our food came out in a very timely manner. Now the food. For starters, I opted for the tenderloin chili which was very flavorful. Despite the cheese not looking melted on top of the chili, it was perfectly heated and had a little spicy kick to it as well. The jalapeño honey cornbread was the perfect pairing. For the entree, I went with the filet mignon which was cooked to perfection, medium rare plus. It was flavorful and melted in my mouth. Rarely do I finish a steak in one sitting but I was determined to enjoy every bite. My steak was paired with their parmesan potatoes which was like an elevated au gratin. Both items were very delicious. For drinks I had the copper spur which was a slight riff on a classic gold rush cocktail. For dessert, I had the chocolate mousse which was like chocolate pudding with pizazz. Again, both items were very good. All in all, I would absolutely return. Easy 5/5 for me .

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Cara was our waitress and she was beyond friendly. I wish I could hang out with her in real life. She brought us a free dessert on the house because I noted on the reservation that it was my birthday. The dessert, the Mexican ice cream, was outstanding and an impressive portion. But I'm getting ahead of myself. We got the elote, cucumber salad, aguacate, pulpo (octopus), and steak. The starters were insanely delicious. I recommend all three. I think the standout for both of us was the cucumber salad. The entrees are the only reason I am not giving a full five stars, because while both were such high-quality, the steak was hard for my friend to separate from the bone, and the octopus was overly salty.
