It's my second time back and I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. Of course this place and location is popular, that's a given. For any who haven't dined here yet, expect a wait and crowds. I do like the ambiance inside, it has a nice vibe and the outdoor patio area is inviting and cozy. Our server was working very hard and was nice and helpful to the extent they could be. They also helped me with picking between 3 entrees and I was happy with the one I picked. While the pasta dish was delicious I will say the portion sizes for the cost leave me disappointed each time. Since it's so busy, the restaurant staff is super stretched. Kudos to them for all their hard work. With that being said, there's improvements that can be made since the orders at the table got mixed up, weren't prepared at the same time and drinks were forgotten. The final bill was also messed up as well. Overall, if you know what you're getting and you're prepared for the popularity and elevated menu, you'll get what you're seeking.

One of my favorite locations! It's bigger than the one on camelback (or maybe it just feels bigger). They have great outdoor seating with misters, indoor seating, bar seating and a sushi type bar seating. They offer complimentary parking as all location do. The service at any location is excellent. I'm a regular at this location and camelback. I want to give a huge shoutout to Stephanie. She was a phenomenal waitress. She knew I popped by for happy hour and was on a time crunch. She made sure everything went speedy so I could eat and go! Constantly checking on my water as I was pounding that water down. Her overall energy made me feel so welcomed and taken care of even though I was in a rush. I had plenty of time to enjoy. Now the food: if you've been to Buck & Rider you already know how amazing it is. If you've havent been, it's an absolute MUST! Everything here is so good and FRESH! A few of my favorite dishes I order every time are: - trout dip (if you eat it how the chef intends. Cracker, dip, a radish slice, hot sauce. All the flavors together are one of a kind. - fried rice - ceviche - crispy rice Again, you can't go wrong!

This is a go to every time I am in AZ. It's a very busy restaurant, I recommend reservations on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If you don't get reservations the back patio is open seating with tables and servers. Still such a great experience. I always get the same thing when I come here but you can't go wrong with anything. The oysters are soooo good with the crystal hot sauce, the shrimp risotto is my absolute favorite. Their cocktails are good too! The chicken strips are so yummy as well.

The birthday girl picked Buck & Rider Scottsdale having been there twice before for their happy hour. I reserved a table using their Priority Seating Reservations and our party was seated within minutes of arriving. This place lived up to the hype with its fresh catch flown in daily, high-energy atmosphere, and attentive service. It's an ideal setting for casual lunches, celebratory dinners, or group gatherings. I suggest you add Buck & Rider to your need to try list.

What a disappointing experience yesterday. I come here (and to Pinyon) nearly every week (sometimes twice a week!) and decided to come here for my birthday lunch with family. The server we initially had never came back to take our order (apparently she got relieved from her shift, but we were never told), so we ended up flagging down a different server who was so cold and rude (I think her name was Kara?). Simple questions about the menu seemed like an inconvenience to her. She also did not describe the lobster portion accurately, despite my multiple questions about it before ordering. Our food arrived, and there were flies all over our table landing on the food. When I asked the manager about it, he said that their doors were open all day the day prior for oyster day and they didn't have any fly fans to put on the tables. I don't understand why restaurants leave their doors open when it's 120 degrees outside. We ended up just taking our meal to go and leaving. I took one bite of my lobster, and it was so chewy and overcooked. The calamari was hot but rubbery. The manager tried to make it right, but this experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth (literally and figuratively).

My favorite spot! We've been coming to Buck & Rider for years and it always hits. From special occasions to brunch with my bestie, it really checks all the boxes. The ambiance is amazing, beautiful florals, greens, a sweet shutter board that you can personalize in advance with your reservation, it's just the best. The seafood is so fresh and the steaks are delectable. I visited for brunch a few weekends ago and it was so perfect. I can't wait to go back.

Before I say anything specific, lemme tell you... the food, the service, everything was FANTASTIC! Waitress: Shire Party of 3 This amazing restaurant was a fantastic way for my family and I to end our most recent trip to Scottsdale Arizona. We came here based on a suggestion from someone who works at the resort that we were staying at. I cannot tell you how perfect this experience was. The recommendation was probably hands-down the best one they could've given us. B&R had something for all of us to enjoy. I was a bit concerned that my young-ish kiddo would not find something on the menu that would be appealing. I spoke to one of the hostesses at the front of the restaurant about my concern. That is when she let me know that there was a separate kids menu, but also that, essentially anything that we needed, they were pretty confident that the kitchen could figure out. Crazy, but even at as nice and as pricey, a restaurant as this, children's menu, meal items were only about $10-$12 each. I was shocked. Even more impressed, I found items like California rolls and smaller portion steak on the kids menu. Awesome!!! The ambience of the restaurant was perfect. It was dimly lit, but not dark. It was romantic, but somehow still dressy casual if you will. The entrance is beautiful and shows off their patio. I had the most delicious ribeye while my husband had fresh, raw oysters, as well as another entrée that I really didn't pay attention to because I was so engrossed in my own meal. Oopsies. LOL! My kiddo loved their California roll. It also came with a small side of strawberries. That was perfect. We ended up also ordering the small portion of steak for them. An entire morning at the aquarium, followed by an afternoon full of swimming, we had all worked up quite an appetite. They offered us a doggy bag, but once they realize that there were no leftovers on the table, we all had a good laugh, but looked at each other sideways when someone asked us if we were interested in dessert. There was no way. We were all so stuffed and we were so content. I don't quite know how we managed, but we waddled to our car and made our way back to the resort. The entire time, we talked about how fabulous our server was and how fabulous her suggestions were. We also talked about how phenomenal our food was and just how wonderful and experienced the whole night had been at Buck & Rider. My kiddo tried their first raw oyster here. I thought that was pretty amazing. I knew it must've been good since they asked for another shortly after. This is definitely a restaurant that I will suggest to people if ever they ask me for a good dining experience recommendation in Arizona. Dinner was a tad pricey, but considering we were on vacation and we were celebrating our being together as a family and having had such an amazing time in Arizona, it was worth every penny and then some. Our server was so awesome. She had a short chat with my kiddo. She showed us some of her tattoos on her arm. It was just a really nice time. It was easy for us to build rapport with our server. That was another thing that made the dining experience even more fun. Geez, I wish this restaurant were closer to home. Would I come here again? You don't even need to ask. I'll meet you there. Party of how many? Let's go. Yes, now!

Another one! (In DJ Khaled voice) Great ambiance, great staff, great food! I tried oysters for the first time. Not my thang, but hey I tried it! Anyway, I had the Chilean Bass grilled with a herb sauce, beets, and green beans. It hit the spot! I enjoyed it a lot. The restaurant was quite cozy and had a real chill vibe! Our waiter was also pretty chill. This spot is one to visit for sure!

Another great visit with wonderful food and service. This time we looked at the brunch menu and decided on Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict. The eggs were perfect on spinach and crab cakes and topped with hollandaise sauce. As usual the crab cakes were ALL CRAB. ( no filler) ). A perfect brunch item! Oh YUM. WALLY AND LIZ.

First time here. We sat at the bar and I really enjoyed it here. The service was great! Quick, friendly. Loved the open view of the kitchen. Absolutely loved our shrimp appetizer, sushi and ceviche. Fresh and delicious. Our drinks were perfect. Love this restaurant, service ran like a Swiss clock. Perfectly.

First time here and it was faaaantastic ! we started it off with appetizers of the fresh buttered Parmesan bread, then had calamari which was amazing with their special sauce, then got their espresso martinis. Are you pulling a Kyle you got your robot you're like I love this for you. I ordered the surf and turf with filet mignon and it was a 10 out of 10 and also they're halibut was awesome to end it off, we got banana cream pie, which is fresh bananas. The cream was light and fluffy! Last but not least Our amazing server was Kara. she is so friendly and well educated on the menu, beautiful woman. She was awesome beautiful and was so fast! The Manager came over and wished me a happy birthday and gave us some macaroons super kind and delightful!

I had the best birthday dinner tonight at Buck and Rider. They have the best scallops in the valley and all of our dinners were exceptional. We especially appreciate the attentive service that we received from Chase. And Chris came by to check on our experience and our food. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you want a fantastic meal served quickly but perfectly you should consider coming to this restaurant. I will definitely be back.

I checked us in for our reservation and the hostess welcomed us in, then promptly took us to the table that had been beautifully prepared for our dining experience. She asked if the lighting was too dim, but it was perfect. Every staff member was dressed neatly and welcomed us as we walked by. No staff members were running around frantically, and I could tell they are staffed amazingly well. So organized and kind, genuinely smiling at us. Let us know not to touch the 500 degree plates when they arrived. He took out drink orders and answered any question we had. He promptly came back with drinks and fresh, hot rolls!! Daniel took our dinner orders. We all sat and visited while waiting, enjoying our drinks and the hot rolls. Dinner was served on, as promised, hot plates!! Then, they served each of us the crème brûlée corn. All of us that ordered meat, asked for medium rare and we were not disappointed!! Our meats were spot on!!! Perfection!!! The petite filet mignon were very juicy and delicious, as was the New York strip. The Crispy Hasselback Potatoes were so good, especially with the topping. The Crispy Shrimp Deviled Eggs were so good!!! I feel like our meals were simple yet divine!! After we enjoyed dinner, we were served the Ultimate Warm Vanilla Caramel Cake, on the house!! What a nice touch!! So yummy and it felt guilty eating such a fabulous dessert!! We all shared it! All in all, I wish I could give 10/10 stars!! Such a wonderful dinner experience!! The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. HOW is a cheese quesadilla that darn good?! The potatoes needed more flavor, and the borracho beans came topped with raw onions, which immediately eliminated them from consideration. Onion hater. Forever and always. The short rib was sweeter and chewier than I prefer, although everyone else at the table enjoyed it. Three entrées + an appetizer came to about $222, which felt fair for the quality, service, and atmosphere. Small space. Big energy. Seriously good food. I'll absolutely be back.

My family and I had a confirmed reservation and arrived on time, only to be told that our names were not on the reservation list. I presented proof of my reservation, including the confirmation text showing my reservation details and that my credit card information was taken to secure the booking. Despite this evidence, the staff insisted they could not accommodate us. The only option we were offered was outdoor seating in the extreme heat, which was simply not appropriate given that my parents are elderly. When we explained our concerns, we were told there was no room inside and no alternative solutions were offered. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of customer service and accountability. While there was an apology and a brief acknowledgment of my frustration, there was no attempt to offer a reservation that would work for my family and I. No gesture of goodwill and no effort to make things right. Instead, the staff member asked me, "What do you want me to do, there is no room?"--a response that felt dismissive rather than service-oriented. To make matters even more frustrating, the hostess appeared unfamiliar with the restaurant's own reservation system. She initially insisted that I need to use the OpenTable app, despite the fact that I showed her my reservation confirmation text with my reservation details and credit card information. The restaurants website has a reservation tab that has a link to make the reservation. After seeing the confirmation, she changed her explanation, which only added to the confusion and gave me little confidence that the situation was being handled appropriately. I asked several times of speaking with a supervisor or manager and the hostess declined me speaking with someone that of higher authority, more experience in these situations. I gave her my name and information so someone would follow up. Needless to say, I did not receive a follow up. This restaurant has earned a James Beard distinction, so I expected a level of professionalism and hospitality that matched its reputation. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of those expectations. Mistakes can happen at any restaurant, but what defines excellent hospitality is how those mistakes are handled. In this case, there was no meaningful effort to resolve the issue or show concern for the inconvenience caused to my family. My disappointment is not simply that our reservation was lost--it's that we were left feeling as though our business and our time didn't matter. I sincerely hope the restaurant improves its reservation process and customer service so that no other family has to experience the frustration and embarrassment that we did.

What an amazing evening, beautifully curated with so many thoughtful details. Only downside is that…read morefor some reason Apple maps was not accurate to finding the location and parking was a challenge as it is right on Roosevelt Row. However as soon as I found it and immediately after entering Pretty Penny I was transformed to the cutest little restaurant. I was greeted immediately and had made a reservation so even though my friend hadn't arrived yet, they sat me down. They instantly offered water and menus (food and cocktail). I noticed that the menu seemed very small and the dishes were shareable -- I don't eat meat so I was hoping my friend wouldn't mind sticking with fish and seafood (which she didn't). As soon as I got to my table there was the cutest sign that said welcome to Sarah Sherman and guest -- it was such an adorable and personal touch, I loved that! As soon as my friend got there we immediately both ordered the cold brew old fashioned -- we thought about the espresso martini but this just sounded too good to pass up -- and we were not disappointed! This drink was so tasty and strong. We immediately ordered the bread (sourdough boule) to soak up some of the alcohol as well as some oysters and the salsa. The oysters were so well spiced and were absolutely delicious. But the bread, the bread, the bread -- the server mentioned that it took almost 9 months to develop the bread recipe and it served. It was the best bread and butter that I think I have ever had! The salsa was good but probably was my least favorite of everything and it was still super yummy. We then moved on to the octopus tostadas. Sometimes octopus is not my fav -- it can be too chewy but this was so amazing and incredibly flavorful. It was starting to be my favorite dish until we ordered the Hamachi -- OMG!! Talk about a mouth orgasm-- both my friend and I were yummming it up -- but seriously this bite was so complex with different flavors coming up with every chew -- it has coriander candied peanuts, fermented pineapple, avocado, pickled fresno, toasted coconut and aji amarillo yogurt -- The server mentioned that this was the chef's least favorite dish which I totally do not understand because this was off the charts in my book. We also tried the earl gray whiskey sour, which was light and delicious, and ended with the shrimp toast and the espresso martini. By the way the toast on the shrimp toast was like a little fried dough triangle -- sooooo gooood! The martini was good but the cold brew old fashioned really stole the spotlight for me. Other details I loved that just elevated the experience: Purse hook (very important to me), the little trays for your utensils, metal coasters, incredibly attentive servers, fantastic music, great ambiance and the cutest was the penny they put on top of your check. So cute -- was not expecting such an enjoyable all around experience!! Will be back 1000%!!!

It was pretty good but certainly not worth the titular pretty penny price--and we didn't even get…read morethe recommended 8 dishes, which is, like, the entire menu. To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back.
