Overall à good experience. The hostesses were a bit lackadaisical, and the atmosphere has a touch of sports bar about it. Definitely a good place for families. Our server Katherine was attentive and enthusiastic. I especially appreciated her willingness to rush back to the kitchen to secure the last octopus dish for me. It was probably the best grilled octopus I've had in ages. The Mac and cheese was very rich. We had heard about a dessert treat offered here and ehe table next to us ordered it. The "Bomba" is basically ice cream sundae smashed on the (plastic covered) table and diners dig in with their spoon. Again, fun for the kids.

The food was delicious. Ordered the sweet corn empanada as an appetizer and the grilled octopus. I had the crunchy shrimp sushi roll. The background music was perfect not too loud, it allowed us to enjoy our dinner without feeling anxious. And to top it off the cheesecake was to die for. I highly recommend it

Attended a super fun ladies' luncheon at celebrity chef Richard Sandoval's upscale yet laidback resto featuring "Latin Without Borders" cuisine. Our flavor-forward set menu, served family-style: WATERMELON HEIRLOOM TOMATO & BURRATA SALAD heirloom tomato | mixed cress | shaved fennel tomato dressing | watermelon dressing | balsamic reduction AVOCADO SALAD mesclun | cherry tomatoes | charred corn | queso spread | fried garbanzo | ají-miel dressing GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH achiote marinated chicken | truffle aioli | tomato | provoleta cheese | bell peppers CUBANO SANDWICH French bread | pulled pork | ham | Swiss cheese | black habanero mustard | house-made pickled cucumbers VEGETABLE FRIED RICE When we had difficulty deciding on drinks, our server went above and beyond by bringing each of us samples of Toro's five signature cocktails! I decided to proceed with the PASSION FRUIT PISCO SOUR (passion fruit, lychee, apricot, lime, aquafaba, angostura) and had no regrets. :D

Very lovely spot for a high-end dinner, but expect to pay top dollar for the experience. Toro was able to accommodate our very large party of 13. We were seated at such a fun large round table with a center lazy suzy table top in the center. The table was not occlusive so we were all able to easily talk across the table, but still have individual conversations and plenty of personal space. The ambience was lovely with dim lighting that gleamed lovely off the wood accents and decor. The fire dancer was a fun element. The food all looked so yummy on the menu with Peruvian and Argentinian influences. Albeit the prices were a bit high even for Scottsdale. I got the short rib which was exquisite and fall off the bone tender (no knife necessary!). The sweet potato puree was lightly sweet, and perfectly blended with spices. The broccolini was also well charred and salted. Our waiter was intuitive and well accommodating. Overall, a perfect experience for our large group.

I do not even know where to begin because Toro was amazing. The food, the service, and the ambiance all came together perfectly. The staff was so attentive and friendly that it made the whole night feel like a 10 out of 10 experience. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and every single one was incredible. The calamari was one of the best I have had, and the octopus was cooked perfectly. I also ordered a mocktail and the presentation was beautiful. The attention to detail is unreal. They even engrave the restaurant's name into the ice cube, which blew my mind. For our entrees we shared sushi. It was good, maybe not as amazing as the appetizers, but still delicious. We were celebrating my birthday and my friend's birthday, and they surprised us with their La Bamba tradition at the end, which was so fun to experience. Everything about this dinner was memorable. The food, the service, and the presentation were all top-tier. I highly recommend Toro and would absolutely come back next time I am in Scottsdale.

If your looking for a trendy spot to take great photos, come here. The ambiance here was such a vibe. The patio overlooks a golf course, the indoor space has moody lighting with a tropical upper scale decor! There was also great live music. The food was alright. I really loved the calamari appetizer and the dipping sauces. For paying over 20 dollars for a sushi roll, it nothing special. The dessert was good. The server himself was a super kind guy, but the service sub par. We had a group of 10, the server recommended a cocktail to someone and didn't bring it over for 30+ minutes after everyone had cocktails, when we followed up about the drink he said they were out of the ingredients but he "knew what to do". The checks were split incorrectly, he "fixed them" but they were still incorrect.

We made dinner reservations for a Thursday evening to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was dimly lit and decorated with plants and beautiful chandeliers. Our server Brent was excellent. We were never left waiting for service. He constantly checked on us and made recommendations from the menu. We started with cocktails including a dirty martini, served icy cold, a passion fruit pisco sour, cuatros coco and the paper playa. All were tasty with the least favorite cuatros coco. The coconut was just overpowering. For the appetizer, we ordered the short rib tacos, sweet corn empanadas and the heirloom tomato & burrata for the table. The appetizers were plentiful for the four of us and all were delicious. We really liked the corn empanadas which were packed with flavor, especially with the accompanying chimichurri sauce. For dinner, the lobster fried rice, scallops and pork belly and the glazed short ribs. My friends loved the lobster fried rice and felt they had a nice portion of lobster. The lobster was cooked perfectly. I felt the short ribs were a little dry even though it was smothered in a glaze. The glaze was just way too sweet for my liking. The short ribs were also sliced like thin medallions which was different. For the birthday girl dessert, we ordered the brownie con helado which was delicious! We had a nice evening and we each said we would come back again.

Toro is an excellent choice for a night out, and it's a solid addition to the North Scottsdale dining scene. My recent visit was a fantastic experience overall, with just a few small details that kept it from being a five-star review. Ambience - From the moment you arrive, you're transported to another world. Approaching the restaurant, you pass by the golf pro shop, which blends a high-end country club vibe with a fantastical, vibrant destination. The dimly lit space, accented with fire dancers and a welcoming crew, creates a lively and memorable atmosphere. Food - The menu is an exciting fusion of Latin and Asian flavors. We started with the tuna guacamole, which I'd highly recommend pairing with your meal. I loved the plantain chip option instead of traditional tortilla chips, and the dish was flavorful overall. We also tried a sushi roll, which was good quality but a bit underwhelming in its ambition for a restaurant of this caliber. They also brought out a complimentary order of gluten-free cheese bread with a sweet and spicy salsa, which was a delicious surprise. For our main course, we ordered the ribeye and the lobster fried rice. The fried rice had great flavor, but the lobster on top was a bit overcooked. As someone with a partner from New England, we tend to be a little critical of our seafood, so that was some key feedback for us. The ribeye came out slightly more well-done than the warm pink center we asked for. It wasn't enough to send it back, but it was noticeable. One thing I really appreciate is that the kitchen doesn't shy away from spice, which adds an authentic kick to their dishes. We also sampled a few of the drinks. I can highly recommend the American Old Fashioned--it's a punchy, robust, and spicy take on a classic. However, my partner's prickly pear margarita was entirely too sweet and couldn't even be finished. Service - The service was excellent. We had a very personable waiter who was attentive and added to our overall enjoyment of the meal. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. Overall - Despite a few minor issues with the food and one of the drinks, this is still a great restaurant that should be on your list for a special night out. The fantastic ambience and exceptional service make it a top contender in the area.

Toro - "Latin Without Borders" Perched on the 18th hole of the picturesque TPC Golf Course, Toro delivers an atmosphere that feels equal parts upscale and adventurous. As part of our cross-country road trip in May, my family and I met up with a friend here for dinner--and from the moment we arrived, the setting impressed. Expansive views, stylish decor, and a lively energy made it feel like a special occasion spot right from the start. It's a kid-friendly place, sure--but honestly, I think there are better restaurant options for families with kids. Ours weren't too into the food (standard kid fare like chicken fingers with fries and mac & cheese) and were way more excited to run around the golf course afterward, doing flips, handstands, and just burning off energy. The adult experience, however, was excellent. My husband, our friend, and I shared a variety of dishes, including the tomato burrata (heirloom tomato, frisée, compressed watermelon, shaved fennel, balsamic reduction), crispy rock shrimp (aji amarillo aioli, pickled chili, crunchy garlic), salmon (kimchee marinade, cauliflower purée, bacon morita chili jam, achiote ponzu, bok choy), and the toro omakase (chef's selection of ceviche, tiradito, maki, nigiri, and oysters). Each dish was thoughtfully composed, beautifully plated, and packed with bold, creative flavors--exactly what you'd expect at this price point. Toro would be an excellent choice for a date night or an upscale evening out. I'd also imagine happy hour here is a great experience. And if you're around on a Friday or Saturday evening, don't miss the live fire dancer performances--they're dynamic, captivating, and add a memorable twist to the evening.

Was not expecting phenomenal sushi on a golf course but... Wow! Omokase plate was insane. Oysters were insane. Caesar salad with steak - unbelievable. Great service. Almost over the top vibe. Great time!!!

The last time we stayed at the Princess hotel, we had such a wonderful lunch. We had to go back this time when we were visiting again. Next time we went to celebrate my grandson's birthday and they made it a wonderful experience as always. The service was excellent food was top-notch as always. I was very pleased with everything and so with my family the ambience is great if you don't know, it's on the 18th hole of the golf course, so the view is beautiful. They remodeled since the last time I was here so everything looks great. All the updates look wonderful great improvement. Food 5/5 View 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service 5/5 Location 5/5 Return Factor 5/5

This is 5 star in every way! From the service to the food not a single missed step. We had a view of the 18th hole of the TCP golf course which was beautiful. Jeff was our waiter and he was awesome! Describing the foods and answering questions Jeff was so helpful. We dined on Christmas Eve so a pre-fix menu was offered as well as the regular dinner menu. I chose the pre-fix menu and my husband chose from the regular menu. We started with the grilled octopus appetizer PHENOMENAL!!! SO tender with just enough spice, by far the best octopus I've had. My dinner started with a seafood soup which included lobster, clams and shrimp. Very flavorful. My husband had the Avocado salad which was bursting with flavor. My entree was a grilled pork chop. It was served off the bine and already sliced, but the bine was there...I took it home!! My husband enjoyed the scallops and pork belly. The scallops were seared to perfection and the pork was juicy and flavorful. We both shared my dessert of tres leches with raspberries. So creamy with a perfect crunch from the crust enveloped in thin chocolate shavings. A perfect ending to an absolutely perfect meal!! Our water was always kept full and our plates were removed in a timely manor but not in a way to make you feel rushed. A 5 star experience!!

The Papas Verde had an addicting tang from the tomatillo salsa but were brilliantly balanced out by the chorizo and asadero cheese. The shaved brussel salad could have used a little more date and chile to balance out the vinegar but I was pleased either way. The elote was probably the only thing that fell short execution-wise as I didn't get much of the chorizo flavor, but the cook on the corn itself was perfect. The Gambas al Ajillo are absolutely a must-get. Juicy, sweet shrimp with an unexpected kick from the butter sauce and unsurprisingly great bread from Noble. The Tlayuda was a little heavy on the lettuce, but the smoked pork and bean puree combo were so flavorful that it helped balance out the richness with texture and freshness. I also loved the crispy contrast from the fried tortilla. We ended with the Concha and Mango Sticky Rice ice cream which sounded pretty simple but was quite impressive in its own right. The ice cream was a touch too frozen, but it ended up working out well with the crunchy cornflake coating and lightly warmed, pillowy concha to make a really satisfying ending to our meal. Service was excellent and the patio was well-lit and had heaters ready for colder weather. Vecina is on the pricier side for sure, but you will not be disappointed.

The rest of the table felt the same about their meals: everything lacked seasoning and flavor. For a $400 dinner, we all agreed we would've had a better meal at Rubio's. I found a spot in the surface lot right across the street from one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in town. Ambiance (4/5): The Mission is a nice restaurant. There's a small patio in front and a large patio out back. Sit at the outdoor patio if you can pull it off. Inside is great too, and there's nice artwork both inside and outside. The only issue? It's a popular restaurant and they try to pack in as many people as possible so space is at a premium. That also means that if you come at a peak hour, like we did, it's going to be pretty loud. Service (4/5): There was a wait when we arrived and the bar was full (first come, first served). Luckily, a group was leaving right when I lingered by the bar and we were able to snag the seats. The bartender did a pretty good job taking care of us. There was room for improvement as far as her efficiency and checking in, but overall, given how busy the restaurant was, pretty good. Drinks (4.5/5): The Mission has an interesting cocktail list. As you'd expect, it's tequila-focused but there's a good variety. You'll find creative cocktails which is always big in my book. Plus margaritas like prickly pear margaritas. I went with the correndo na chuva which has cachaca, passion fruit, lemongrass, sherry, and lime juice. Cachaca is a Brazilian liqueur which you don't see in many places so this was a treat. It was a refreshing cocktail. Lots of spicy cocktails are available, too. Food (4/5): While the brunch menu is pretty extensive, I think there's a clear winner: the all-you can eat whole roasted pig out. For $19, and only on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch, it's a steal of a deal. You get pineapple roasted shoulder and pork belly carnitas tacos served with your choice of one of five sauces. There's a little buffet stand where a member of their staff will make the tacos for you. I had about 10 of them and they hit the spot! Nice variety of sauces so I tried all of them except for one (two spicy for my blood) and you can request flour tortillas if you prefer that over the corn tortillas they have. Between the two proteins, I thought the pork shoulder was more flavorful and tender. It's no surprise that The Mission Old Town has some of the most Yelp reviews in town. It's a popular restaurant. Just make sure to make a reservation or stop by outside of peak hours or there's a good chance you'll have a wait.

I immediately ordered three chicken and three beef. I forgot about the arepas. The guy said it would be ten minutes. So we browsed their store. As soon as you walk in to the business, the small place looked like it is set up to ship packages. It has a small grocery store in the back, and has a kitchen on the side. The whole store was small, but clean. There was no seating in this place as it is not a sit down restaurant. Food orders are placed to go. Almost ten minutes exactly our empanadas came out. We took them to our car and ate there. We wanted to eat them fresh and hot and boy were they steaming hot. I loved the crispness of the shells. The filling was very flavorful and moist. I dipped them in the salsa and they had had a nice kick. They were delicious! We were able to polish off four. After we arrived home some thirty minutes later, the empanadas were still warm and surprisingly still crispy! I ate the last two. I will definitely return to try their arepas!

We had a warm greeting from the hostess stand and were seated promptly at our reservation time. The restaurant gives off a warm and cozy vibe with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is two pages offering some dishes served family style. We decided to share all our dishes. Our waitress was friendly and offered great suggestions. Food came out quick and was delicious. A great spot to celebrate a special occasion.

The entire restaurant seems void of cilantro which I know is a love or hate ingredient, but is a staple in Hispanic dishes. Everything from guacamole to the flautas needed it. Guacamole was delicious, but expensive for what you get ($19). As a vegan, you are VERY limited in what you can order. Guacamole and two salads without cheese and the potato flautas without cheese. Very meh. We only ate here because we were staying at the hotel and assuming beans and vegetables would be plentiful in the dishes. Wrong. We left hungry. Service was very good though. Matthew was our server. We had come here for a birthday and were seated at a small two top in a very busy area. It wasn't relaxing, intimate, or enjoyable. So many other good places to dine in Phoenix. One and done for me.

For $16, you get four mixed empanadas of your choice. That's a good deal, I think. But, the empanadas were on the smaller side. The owner was very friendly and informative and let us know these empanadas are made in the Columbian style. She also mentioned she lived in Mexico for many years and learned to make empanadas the Mexican way and combined some of those flavors also. The empanadas I had were all very tasty and I liked the salsa verde that came with the empanadas. I had the traditional (had a kick to it) and arroz con pollo. I gave Sherpa the calentado and chorizo ones, but no report back if they were good lol. My only gripe here is that the empanadas were a little more greasy than I usually like. On their website and in photos, they say their empanadas are air fried, but I think I recall seeing oil fryers outdoors yesterday. I try to keep fried foods to a limit as I don't always feel great after eating a greasy meal. And I have to maintain a svelte physique, just kidding there. Diabetes and heart disease run in my family, so I am very mindful of what I put into my temple. I also ate these after climbing as there is no way I could have had these empanadas in my stomach prior. Also interesting is that the vegetarian and vegan ones were kind of food color green. I guess you need to be able to differentiate them, but the color was off-putting. I'd give this place another try but would prefer baked empanadas. I love empanadas, just please hold the grease.

The restaurant is a very good size with lots of room and tables available. The decor is that of PR culture which is very colorful and bright. We started off with canoa which is a plantain stuffed with ground beef and cheese. It was very hot and delicious! For our "platos principals" (main entrees) I had the pechuga de pollo (chicken breast with grilled onions) with mofongo as my side (also comes with a side salad). It was very tasty and not dry at all. BFF had the pernil (pulled pork) with arroz con gandules (rice with pigeon peas) as his side which also came with a side salad. For dessert we shared the tembleque which is a coconut pudding but not in the traditional sense of pudding (more like a jelly texture). BFF also ordered coquito (holiday rum drink) & apparently our server (Sophia) omitted the rum so the owner came by and offered a fresh glass. Speaking of, everything was wonderful except that Sophia seemed to have a bit of a poor attitude as she wasn't too friendly. I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt as perhaps she wasn't feeling well but out of the corner of my eye she had this almost "eyeroll" look. Perhaps she just didn't want to be there (she was friendly upon us leaving and thanked us). Anyway, I highly recommend this establishment. Both food and ambience was great and the service was too.
