Overall à good experience. The hostesses were a bit lackadaisical, and the atmosphere has a touch of sports bar about it. Definitely a good place for families. Our server Katherine was attentive and enthusiastic. I especially appreciated her willingness to rush back to the kitchen to secure the last octopus dish for me. It was probably the best grilled octopus I've had in ages. The Mac and cheese was very rich. We had heard about a dessert treat offered here and ehe table next to us ordered it. The "Bomba" is basically ice cream sundae smashed on the (plastic covered) table and diners dig in with their spoon. Again, fun for the kids.

Attended a super fun ladies' luncheon at celebrity chef Richard Sandoval's upscale yet laidback resto featuring "Latin Without Borders" cuisine. Our flavor-forward set menu, served family-style: WATERMELON HEIRLOOM TOMATO & BURRATA SALAD heirloom tomato | mixed cress | shaved fennel tomato dressing | watermelon dressing | balsamic reduction AVOCADO SALAD mesclun | cherry tomatoes | charred corn | queso spread | fried garbanzo | ají-miel dressing GRILLED CHICKEN SANDWICH achiote marinated chicken | truffle aioli | tomato | provoleta cheese | bell peppers CUBANO SANDWICH French bread | pulled pork | ham | Swiss cheese | black habanero mustard | house-made pickled cucumbers VEGETABLE FRIED RICE When we had difficulty deciding on drinks, our server went above and beyond by bringing each of us samples of Toro's five signature cocktails! I decided to proceed with the PASSION FRUIT PISCO SOUR (passion fruit, lychee, apricot, lime, aquafaba, angostura) and had no regrets. :D

This was our first time staying nearby and we weren't sure which restaurant we wanted to try. Toro peaked our interest due to the food options and cigars. We were pleasantly surprised!! The atmosphere was impeccable with the moody lighting and beachy vibes. We ordered the grilled octopus and half dozen oysters to start and they were delicious. The grilled octopus was the best I've ever had. The oysters had pineapple which was also refreshing. We also ordered the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was also very friendly and timely with everything brought out. We cannot wait to visit again!

Very lovely spot for a high-end dinner, but expect to pay top dollar for the experience. Toro was able to accommodate our very large party of 13. We were seated at such a fun large round table with a center lazy suzy table top in the center. The table was not occlusive so we were all able to easily talk across the table, but still have individual conversations and plenty of personal space. The ambience was lovely with dim lighting that gleamed lovely off the wood accents and decor. The fire dancer was a fun element. The food all looked so yummy on the menu with Peruvian and Argentinian influences. Albeit the prices were a bit high even for Scottsdale. I got the short rib which was exquisite and fall off the bone tender (no knife necessary!). The sweet potato puree was lightly sweet, and perfectly blended with spices. The broccolini was also well charred and salted. Our waiter was intuitive and well accommodating. Overall, a perfect experience for our large group.

I do not even know where to begin because Toro was amazing. The food, the service, and the ambiance all came together perfectly. The staff was so attentive and friendly that it made the whole night feel like a 10 out of 10 experience. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share and every single one was incredible. The calamari was one of the best I have had, and the octopus was cooked perfectly. I also ordered a mocktail and the presentation was beautiful. The attention to detail is unreal. They even engrave the restaurant's name into the ice cube, which blew my mind. For our entrees we shared sushi. It was good, maybe not as amazing as the appetizers, but still delicious. We were celebrating my birthday and my friend's birthday, and they surprised us with their La Bamba tradition at the end, which was so fun to experience. Everything about this dinner was memorable. The food, the service, and the presentation were all top-tier. I highly recommend Toro and would absolutely come back next time I am in Scottsdale.

The food was delicious. Ordered the sweet corn empanada as an appetizer and the grilled octopus. I had the crunchy shrimp sushi roll. The background music was perfect not too loud, it allowed us to enjoy our dinner without feeling anxious. And to top it off the cheesecake was to die for. I highly recommend it

We made dinner reservations for a Thursday evening to celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was dimly lit and decorated with plants and beautiful chandeliers. Our server Brent was excellent. We were never left waiting for service. He constantly checked on us and made recommendations from the menu. We started with cocktails including a dirty martini, served icy cold, a passion fruit pisco sour, cuatros coco and the paper playa. All were tasty with the least favorite cuatros coco. The coconut was just overpowering. For the appetizer, we ordered the short rib tacos, sweet corn empanadas and the heirloom tomato & burrata for the table. The appetizers were plentiful for the four of us and all were delicious. We really liked the corn empanadas which were packed with flavor, especially with the accompanying chimichurri sauce. For dinner, the lobster fried rice, scallops and pork belly and the glazed short ribs. My friends loved the lobster fried rice and felt they had a nice portion of lobster. The lobster was cooked perfectly. I felt the short ribs were a little dry even though it was smothered in a glaze. The glaze was just way too sweet for my liking. The short ribs were also sliced like thin medallions which was different. For the birthday girl dessert, we ordered the brownie con helado which was delicious! We had a nice evening and we each said we would come back again.

Toro is an excellent choice for a night out, and it's a solid addition to the North Scottsdale dining scene. My recent visit was a fantastic experience overall, with just a few small details that kept it from being a five-star review. Ambience - From the moment you arrive, you're transported to another world. Approaching the restaurant, you pass by the golf pro shop, which blends a high-end country club vibe with a fantastical, vibrant destination. The dimly lit space, accented with fire dancers and a welcoming crew, creates a lively and memorable atmosphere. Food - The menu is an exciting fusion of Latin and Asian flavors. We started with the tuna guacamole, which I'd highly recommend pairing with your meal. I loved the plantain chip option instead of traditional tortilla chips, and the dish was flavorful overall. We also tried a sushi roll, which was good quality but a bit underwhelming in its ambition for a restaurant of this caliber. They also brought out a complimentary order of gluten-free cheese bread with a sweet and spicy salsa, which was a delicious surprise. For our main course, we ordered the ribeye and the lobster fried rice. The fried rice had great flavor, but the lobster on top was a bit overcooked. As someone with a partner from New England, we tend to be a little critical of our seafood, so that was some key feedback for us. The ribeye came out slightly more well-done than the warm pink center we asked for. It wasn't enough to send it back, but it was noticeable. One thing I really appreciate is that the kitchen doesn't shy away from spice, which adds an authentic kick to their dishes. We also sampled a few of the drinks. I can highly recommend the American Old Fashioned--it's a punchy, robust, and spicy take on a classic. However, my partner's prickly pear margarita was entirely too sweet and couldn't even be finished. Service - The service was excellent. We had a very personable waiter who was attentive and added to our overall enjoyment of the meal. The entire staff was welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home. Overall - Despite a few minor issues with the food and one of the drinks, this is still a great restaurant that should be on your list for a special night out. The fantastic ambience and exceptional service make it a top contender in the area.

Toro - "Latin Without Borders" Perched on the 18th hole of the picturesque TPC Golf Course, Toro delivers an atmosphere that feels equal parts upscale and adventurous. As part of our cross-country road trip in May, my family and I met up with a friend here for dinner--and from the moment we arrived, the setting impressed. Expansive views, stylish decor, and a lively energy made it feel like a special occasion spot right from the start. It's a kid-friendly place, sure--but honestly, I think there are better restaurant options for families with kids. Ours weren't too into the food (standard kid fare like chicken fingers with fries and mac & cheese) and were way more excited to run around the golf course afterward, doing flips, handstands, and just burning off energy. The adult experience, however, was excellent. My husband, our friend, and I shared a variety of dishes, including the tomato burrata (heirloom tomato, frisée, compressed watermelon, shaved fennel, balsamic reduction), crispy rock shrimp (aji amarillo aioli, pickled chili, crunchy garlic), salmon (kimchee marinade, cauliflower purée, bacon morita chili jam, achiote ponzu, bok choy), and the toro omakase (chef's selection of ceviche, tiradito, maki, nigiri, and oysters). Each dish was thoughtfully composed, beautifully plated, and packed with bold, creative flavors--exactly what you'd expect at this price point. Toro would be an excellent choice for a date night or an upscale evening out. I'd also imagine happy hour here is a great experience. And if you're around on a Friday or Saturday evening, don't miss the live fire dancer performances--they're dynamic, captivating, and add a memorable twist to the evening.

Gave my gf a rose for Valentines Day

Booked a reservation for Valentine's Day last night. Chose this place for its ambience and unique flavors. We both love Latin and Asian cuisine so the menu seemed to fit our palate Was seated pretty quick and they handed my gf a rose. Got me extra brownie points for sure (told her I arranged that jokingly lol) The vibe is awesome a dimly lit jungle vibe for the Peruvian inspiration. Good music not too loud like other "high end" spots in Scottsdale that try to do too much. They also had a fire performer in the middle of our dinner which added to the ambiance. We sat inside but the outdoor seating also looked nice. During the day this place would have great views of the golf course I imagine. Onto the food, oysters were great quality, fresh but still briny. Had a pineapple mignonette that complimented well. My gf doesn't like oysters but these were small enough for her to enjoy with the added sweetness. Calamari was also solid, had a great chipotle aioli and ginger scallion oyster sauce on the side. The salmon ceviche was a bit of a let down. More like a crudo if you ask me, but still great flavors. Cocktails were great too! The corn mezcal was super unique. Not the biggest mezcal person but it sounded too good to pass up and definitely glad I tried it. My gf got the pisco sour and it was perfectly tart but refreshing. For mains we got the Lomo Saltado and Salmon. Both were great, Lomo Saltado was super tender and had great flavors. Same with salmon, nothing too unique but still on point Overall all the food was very well seasoned and flavorful. Nothing lacked. Cocktails were good. Service was a bit slow but our waiter (forget his name) was very professional and fun. Gave a ton of recs and was very animated. Worked there for 4+ years if I remember correctly and it showed. Awesome dude! Overall 4.5/5 would come back, maybe during the day to enjoy the views outside

Where things really took a turn was the food. I was so hoping I found a new staple in our walkable restaurants list but the food was mostly disappointing. We liked our fairly standard French onion soup and Caesar salad. The shrimp cocktail were not good at all. Shrimp was tough and mealy. They marinate them with a bunch of herbs. Maybe that caused the unpleasant texture? On top of that, I did not like the herbs used in the marinade. Good shrimp cocktail stands on its own! I should also add that these were $7/each. A week later I had the most amazing shrimp cocktail - tender and sweet and almost double the size for $4/each. I don't mind paying $7. I've paid $13 each for good shrimp cocktail. Just a lot of money to spend on something so disappointing. Our sea bass was also tough. Flavor was okay. The piece was fairly thin - possibly why it was overcooked? For those who love sea bass, I suggest checking it out at SumoMaya or Dominick's. Can't be beat! Sadly, I don't think we'll be back. Too many other excellent options nearby.

I was worried the chops were going to be too large but the portion size was spot on to my liking. The roasted garlic thyme jus it's served with is rich, savory, and a great compliment to the tender and juicy chop. I would order this again and again. Sides: Parmesan Truffle Fries and Smoked Gouda Tater Tots - It's hard to mess up a potato but somehow Ocean Prime was able to make it even more delicious. The fries had a perfect balance of crisp and tender, and the parmesan truffle flavor was the cherry on top. Wonderful aftertaste and surprisingly pairs well with crab legs. The tots had a perfect crisp exterior and a fluffy inside. The offerings are generous so 1 side would suffice for 2 people. Every bite was scrumptious and a definite recommend for the table. Cocktails: My wife also had the Berries & Bubbles cocktail. Well, it was so yummy that she had 2 of them. I had a sip and although I'm not a vodka fan, I can attest that it was indeed yummy. The dry ice is a nice touch and adds to the beauty and appeal of this drink. The drink is poured at the table (Hannah is clearly a pro at it). It was like a dinner and a show! Dessert: We were offered to choose a dessert on-the-house to celebrate my birthday. We ordered the Warm Butter Cake for the table and a Chocolate Torte to go. Hannah was kind enough to comp both of them for us! The Warm Butter Cake was AMAZING! From the delicious ice cream served on top to the gooey buttery velvety center of the cake with a perfectly crisped edge, it was everything you'd want in a dessert and more. I'm sure it's the star of the dessert menu. I've yet to make it to the torte but I've no doubt I'll be swimming in chocolatey goodness when I do. Lastly, I had flowers delivered to the restaurant to surprise my wife, and I asked if they would please have them set at the table prior to our arrival. They were able to receive the delivery before opening time and were placed perfectly in the middle of our table (booth seating). I'm so grateful for how they accommodated my request and helped me execute a wonderful surprise that gained a beautiful smile from my wife. 10/10 experience. Five stars all across the board. Worth every dollar spent. I highly recommend Ocean Prime for any and all events, or if you're simply just looking for a delicious meal.

We chose Ocean Prime for our Father's Day dinner and left with mixed feelings…read more The food was hit or miss. The Caesar salad was very good, and the crab cake was excellent--easily the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the scallops were disappointing, arriving cold and noticeably tough. On the positive side, the carrot cake was outstanding and a great way to end the evening. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet during our early dinner reservation, so we expected attentive service. Instead, the service was slow and inattentive throughout the meal, which was disappointing given the restaurant's reputation and pricing. Overall, there were some bright spots, but the inconsistent food quality and poor service made for an underwhelming Father's Day experience.

Words don't do this place justice!…read more The service was so on point and they all work as a team. Multiple people will check on you, clear the table, and refill anything you need. The overall place is super cute, quaint, and not loud so you can actually hear your table conversation. The food....delicious! I'll start off by saying those OYSTER BITES are money! My friend and I ordered multiple and I would have ordered more if we didn't have a place to be afterwards. I'm definitely ordering this every single time. The Tuna carpaccio was to die for, I would order this every time! The Lobster croissant was interesting, the lobster itself was so juicy and buttery, I didn't care much for the croissant or shrimp on it. The caviar chips were good but I wouldn't order them again, it was more chips than anything else. The drinks were sooooo good! If you don't know what to order the staff is very knowledgeable and can help guide you. A message for the owners: I absolutely love the concept! You two are extraordinary and I hope you don't change a thing at either of your restaurants. All of them are fantastic. The quality of food is outstanding and the way you train your staff is beyond amazing.

Service was so slow and it wasn't busy for a Friday night in August. It took 15 minutes for my friends to be greeted and get their drinks. It was so hot inside and we all were sweating. They needed to lower the AC. My friends got the burger and scallops. I ordered the tuna tostadas. Their food was brought but mine was missing. My friends waited for me to get my food before they started eating. It took ten min to get my tostadas meanwhile we're trying to find our server who was nowhere to be found. My friend's meals were cold by then. We weren't checked on and just ate since we couldn't locate our server. We paid our bill and we needed water. The server grabbed our checks and we never saw him again. The service staff seemed like they didn't want to be there and it showed. Ambiance was nice and trendy. Maybe it was an off night but it was not worth the commute or money.

I started with a blueberry mule mocktail and it was perfection and then I had the small side salad made with carrots, cucumbers, and spring mix and lemon vinaigrette, and it was my favorite I've ever had and then I finished with the Bolognese that has a cream sauce that is to die for. Best Bolognese in town in my opinion. The staff was more than accommodating. I showed up in my work attire, definitely not dressed for this restaurant and from the hostess all the way to my server and bartender and everyone treated me with the upmost respect. They moved me to a better table, and for the inconvenience gave me another mocktail. This is absolutely my favorite absolutely 100% amazing. How anybody wouldn't like it with baffle me you have to go.

It was happy hour. The food items are small portions so make sure you order more than one thing from the menu (happy hour is even smaller). I'd like to talk about the happy hour. Food ranges from $3-$9, cocktails $9 and house wine $9. The cocktails are small also. We orders 4 different foods from the happy hour menu. We were planning on sharing them but when they came out we realized it was only 1 slider, 1 scallop etc. the only thing that had more than one was the meatball.. I highly recommend on NOT ordering the meatballs.. My first order was so burnt and hard to even cut. I had let the staff know, they noticed it also and I had shown them. It did take another 25 minutes for me to get the meatballs, they just tasted dry and not good. I'm not sure if they are frozen and then put in the microwave or what but the quality of the meatballs were so bad. However the polenta that comes with the meatballs was delicious. Also I had ordered the chicken slider from them menu , it was raw in the middle and burnt on the crust. I had shown the staff this also. They told the kitchen to make another. It came right after the meatballs. The scallop crisp and lobster slider was better! I'd recommend those two items! The crafted cocktails are so GOOD!! Best thing in their menu was not the food but their cocktails! We ordered 3 different cocktails and red wine Malbec. All of them were so good but tiny because it was for the happy hour. Accessibility parking is available, I'd say it's Challenging to fit a wheelchair at the tables or booths. The environment does get loud and they do play louder music.
