The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was excellent, and everything we ate was exceptional. The entire evening felt special, polished, and effortless. A special thank you to Ryan, who made everything so easy, and to Ashlyn, who also helped with the planning and made sure the details came together beautifully. Their professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail made the entire process smooth and enjoyable. I also truly appreciated the head chef coming out twice during the evening to make sure everything was okay. That personal touch meant a lot and showed how much care went into the experience. So we had reservations here a couple weeks ago that we ended up having to cancel and we ended up coming back tonight. The service was great. Christian, I believe, was our waiter and he was awesome. He gets five stars but that's where it ends. You walk in and it's got a great vibe to it but it's a Japanese Steak House that has the decor of a strip club in Miami during the Scarface era. That threw me off a little bit. Now the food: - Edamame were good. - The burger my daughter had was the best thing that we ordered by far. - I had a 6 oz filet, which was 4 oz at best, and it was way over salted. If it wasn't such a late reservation I probably wouldn't have eaten it but I was so hungry I could have eaten my own hand. - The sushi was on par with Bash's or Safeway. To be honest AJ's sushi is way better. - The garlic noodles with prawns were not very garlicky and the prawns had no flavor. It was like there was no garlic or sauce or anything. It was kind of weird actually. - The $40 lobster fried rice had 2 oz of lobster and again didn't have much flavor. It was very very sub par from a food standpoint. Quite disappointing actually. This place is exceptionally surprising. Think trendy without being pretentious (douchy). 20 yr olds to 40+ seemed to make up the crowd on a Wednesday evening. Attractive crowd, fun staff, strong hospitality -- the kind of atmosphere that works equally well for a date night or a night out with friends trying to actually connect and enjoy themselves. Fun atmosphere/vibes and music! To Executive Chef, Thomas Griese, because the kitchen deserves recognition. The food is fantastic. You can tell there is real technical ability behind the execution: honed knife skills, thoughtful preparation, and attention paid to everything from lighter dishes to heavier fried preparations. Even the bone-in short rib reflected a level of precision and confidence that stood out. Preparation-to-table time was impressive, and when we changed the plating sequence on the fly, both the kitchen and front-of-house adjusted seamlessly without missing a beat. The front of house initially gives off a light, nonchalant energy, but once you start paying attention, you realize how focused the execution actually is. One unexpected bonus was the warmth of the room itself. There was a friendliness among the patrons that made the experience feel shared instead of performative. At one point I dropped my menu and the table next to us immediately picked it up and handed it back with a simple "here you go, my friend" kind of energy. Small interaction, but noticeable. Hopefully the vibe stays this way because it's something a lot of Scottsdale restaurants are missing. Dare I say this may be the new place for happy, wealthy, and genuinely kind people. Is this place a Michelin restaurant? No, not yet. That's what I love -- a great time and excellent food without the stuffiness of most Michelin restaurants. Please note though, with the focus and detail of Exec Chef Thomas and his team, I'm sure it will be sooner rather than later. A lot of restaurants can create a vibe. Far fewer can back it up with food and operational consistency at this level. JING (Scottsdale) manages to do both. Ate here for our anniversary dinner and could not have been happier with our experience. Everything was 5/5- food, ambiance and especially the service!! We had Chad as our server and he made the entire evening so memorable for us. There was a hiccup with our hot stone not being hot enough to sear our wagyu not just once, but twice and it could have made for a sour experience but he was so apologetic and we were all able to laugh about it. Not to mention, as we were discussing desserts and trying to decide between two different ones, he overheard us and brought both desserts on the house to make up for the mishap. We would have been happy regardless of that but it was the cherry on top for us. As for the food, everything was so good!! We got the Hamachi crunch roll, rock tempura shrimp, spicy wontons (all off the happy hour menu) as well as the lobster fried rice and the wagyu on the rock. Jing Scottsdale Seated outside in the patio, was a nice evening , no need for heaters or ac. The inside was loud with a dj or something, a little different seating. Wagyu Beef Bao Sliders with tomato, avocado, leeks, jalapeños and chili garlic aioli equals a yummy appetizer, a good start to your meal. Delmonico Ribeye 14oz, nice char outside with a perfect medium rare on the inside, good flavors. The outside had a nice taste with the char and combination of spices and seasoning. Just a slight chewiness on a portion of the cut. Miso Blackcod is a fantastic entree, flavors are excellent and highly recommend. Tender and full of flavor. We also ordered the Mandarin Green Beans with Garlic which are the true Chinese Green Beans Service was nice and there generally when needed. There is a Asian Flair to their dishes, but more American Asian. It you are requesting house water, it is served without ice. I ended up requesting a glass with ice which was no problem Nice addition to the area, a little more upscale to the other restaurants in the area. read more

I watched for weeks as Jing was being built so I was excited to finally be able to dine here. As you walk up to Jing, you can see it is beautifully decorated inside. The colors are stunning. Jing has a large bar so plenty of seating but for a Thursday night, it was very crowded. While our group waited for our table, we were sat outside at a couch surrounding a fountain. The hostesses were very friendly. The couch looks like it can sit at least 10 people. It has small tables for drinks etc. We sat next to another group of 4 who placed their drink orders but the sever walked away without even looking at us or asking about drinks or menus. After a few minutes of being ignored, I walked up and ask the same server if we could order drinks. Once we ordered, it took several minutes for our drinks to arrive. It was so awkward to be ignored while the people seated right next to us were ordering and being served. I've never experienced that before. Our outside table became available. I will say the outside patio is dull in comparison to the inside of the restaurant. You are staring at the parking lot and all the shopping center signage if you are facing outward. There isn't anything to block the view. If you face inward, you can see the beautiful restaurant decor. The indoor/outdoor seating looked very nice. I wouldn't book the patio in the future. Christian was our server. Christian was excellent and never left us waiting for service. He checked for allergies and offered some great selections from the menu. Christian mentioned the menu items are all meant for sharing so we ordered several items including Wagyu bao beef sliders, Miso Black Cod, avocado roll, Wagyu fried rice, salmon spoon, noodles and the lava cake. We all said the food was tasty. We especially liked the wagyu bao beef sliders and wagyu fried rice. Although it was a rocky start to the evening and I was a little put off by our first server on the patio, I would like to give Jing another try. The food was pretty good. Food Was amazing and loved the vibe me and my wife sat out side on the patio didn't have the best server think we saw her 2 times at most but other then that food was excellent . Manger even stopped by to see how we were had a great fine dining vibe we shared couple of dishes. The Tuna Pizza was really good flavor profile loved everything about it just a little much with the truffle oil if I did this dish I would as for the oil on the side and dress to liking . Capers were and excellent finish. Oysters can't really mess up great presentation!! Yellowtail Serrano the famous Nobu dish that everyone try's to recreate or put a spin on it this one had the grapefruit little different but good definitely a dish that you should try packed with different flavors don't be scared of the grapefruit. Blue Fin Tina Crispy Rice was absolutely fire i would or this ten times over great crispy rice perfect about of tuna with thin avocado slice !! Last we had the Delmonico Ribeye for your entree I was super stoked for this but definitely feel short definitely wasn't cooked right to temp pretty fatty and i don't mind fat love it but when there more fat then steak and it's $70 bucks it should be a little better of cut . Celebrated a friend's birthday at Jing, and the space itself is stunning--very Vegas meets Scottsdale. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made for a great overall atmosphere. We started with several appetizers, which were easily the highlight of the meal. The tuna pizza was creative and delicious. All of the fish tasted very fresh. The wontons were also excellent, with a flavorful sauce that really elevated the dish. Unfortunately, the main courses didn't live up to the appetizers. The meat stir-fry dishes lacked flavor overall. I ordered the Thai basil, which had no spice and very little depth. Another guest ordered the tenderloin, which was also just okay. Of the mains we tried, the wagyu fried rice was the most flavorful and is the one dish I'd recommend. One thing I found odd is that the stir-fries don't come with white rice--I had to add it for an extra $5. Also worth noting: A member of our group tried to order the Peking duck and short rib, and both were sold out. I understand they've just had their grand opening, so I'm willing to give some grace there, but it was still disappointing given the strong reviews. With so much amazing Asian food in the Valley, I'm definitely critical of flavor--especially at a higher price point. Overall, I'd recommend checking Jing out, but I'd suggest trying different main courses than the ones we ordered. read more

My husband and I went for dinner to celebrate our 26th anniversary. From start to finish it was an amazing experience! Our hostess wished us happy anniversary, our waitress Natalia recommended the most delicious dishes. She was very familiar with the menu and knew all of the ingredients. I was so thankful as I am allergic to dairy and egg and don't eat meat. She was soooo thoughtful and catered to all of my food concerns. They have a vegan: vegetarian menu that had the most dreamy options. I ordered the lemon drop martini, omg yum!! I started with an app, which was the tofu lettuce wraps, which was so savory and crisp. For my entree, the miso glazed cod was sooo good! So so so buttery and fresh! I also got the vegan/vegetarian crispy honey cauliflower to accompany and it was delicious!!! Hubby got the small ribeye, whipped mash , and alaskan snow crab sushi roll. He was basically licking his plate. It was epic. For dessert, the hubby devoured the tiramisu and I got the sorbet flight. My favorite was the yuzu. Ommmggg!! It was so citrusy and bright. The mango and pomegranate? were equally delicious but yuzu def was the fave. Natalia was an amazing, attentive server. She was so knowledgeable about the menu. My food allergies were of great concern to her and she made sure to make me feel at ease with my choices. Which does not happen at most restaurants. I stopped into Jing right at 3pm for happy hour after a friend strongly recommended it. I was just driving by and figured why not. The bar is set up in a big horseshoe shape and it filled up fast, which made sense once I saw the happy hour menu. It is actually a really good one. They have solid cocktail options and not just basic house wine type stuff. They even had Prisoner on happy hour which is one of my favorites, so that was a nice surprise. I ordered the tuna spoon which was a nice chunk of tuna served with the dry ice presentation, always a fun touch. We also had a couple of rolls and a few drinks and overall the food was good. The space itself is big with a patio and has a good vibe. The downside was the service at the bar. It felt pretty confused. Multiple people tried to take our order at first, then it seemed like nobody wanted to. We ordered a dish that never showed up. They did not charge us for it, but we were waiting and had to double check the bill sitting in the glass in front of us. It just felt disorganized. Good food, great happy hour options, cool space. Just a shame the service did not match the rest of the experience. read more

Dinner With a View... of Brake Masters I had lunch at JING today, a place that appears to have mistaken lighting design for culinary ambition. You can practically feel the money in the room--dramatic fixtures, polished surfaces, curated angles--yet somehow none of that investment made its way into the food. The sushi itself was technically edible, but deeply uninspired. The rice was soft to the point of surrender, the seasoning timid, the overall experience curiously lifeless. It's impressive, in a way, to make fresh fish feel this forgettable. The service added another layer of confusion. The uniforms were notably short and revealing--less hospitality, more nightclub branding exercise. It created the distinct impression that presentation mattered more than performance. Unfortunately, the attentiveness matched the priorities: slow, detached, and intermittently absent. But the most surreal detail is the setting itself. You sit inside this heavily stylized, multimillion-dollar environment, surrounded by theatrical lighting, only to glance outside and find yourself staring directly at Brake Masters and CVS. Nothing shatters the illusion of luxury faster than locking eyes with a brake shop while eating overpriced sushi. JING feels less like a restaurant and more like an aesthetic concept that forgot its central purpose. A great deal of effort has gone into making the room look impressive. Very little seems to have gone into making the food memorable. read more

Second time back at Jing, and I gotta say... I was far less impressed. Sam, our server, was the best part of our experience. He was incredibly friendly like last time and very attentive. I specifically requested to sit in his area and was happy when the restaurant accommodated that request. The food, however, wasn't great. For starters, the menus my two girlfriends and I were given were all different and included dishes that weren't being offered. We ordered nearly everything on the happy hour menu, and I didn't love a single thing. The rock shrimp tempura was slightly undercooked and mushy. The tuna pizza had too much truffle oil on it (if truffle oil is your thing, you might like it). The spicy yellowtail roll was ridiculously small (each piece was literally the size of a dime when looking at it from the top and the roll was $9, I didn't even bother taking a picture of it). The hamachi crunch roll lacked flavor and texture. It was one of the most boring rolls I've ever had, and I eat sushi several times a week. The Alaskan snow crab roll was also pretty flavorless and would probably have tasted better wrapped in nori instead of soy paper which was very bland. The happy spoons were a cool theatric experience but did not have a memorable flavor. Our table ordered the cosmo, lemon drop, gimlet, dirty martini, and spicy margarita. The gimlet and spicy margarita were delicious. I'd probably only come back here for cocktails and the blue fin crispy tuna and Sam's service, of course. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and definitely gives a good vibe, so it's fun to drink cocktails there. (Note: For the best tuna pizza in town, go to Catch. Avery gave great, attentive service. The noise level was very loud on a Wednesday evening, so a bit difficult to have conversations without yelling at each other, but the vibe is certainly energetic. The menu is interesting and the food we ordered was delicious, although one of our party thought the filet steak itself had no flavor (but the dish itself was flavorful). Especially good were the Peking Duck, Miso fish, appetizers (Rangoon, spicy dumplings and spicey shrimp), and the duck fried rice. Cocktails are interesting and fun. Definitely will return but may try to sit outside so we can converse comfortably during dinner. read more

Reservation for 4 people at 6:15pm on Tuesday and place was busy. Super cool atmosphere and great ambiance. A bit loud with hr music so you have to raise your voice to have a conversation. Ordered a few different cocktails and they were alright. Food though was great. We ordered the hamachi crunch roll which was ok. The blue fin tuna crispy rice was amazing. The Jing tuna pizza was just alright. I've had it elsewhere and this one didn't come close. The Wagyu burger bao buns were very good. We also ordered the filet and ribeye which both were cooked perfectly and had an amazing Smokey flavor to them. The sides were also very good. shells and cheese and mashed potatoes. Less than impressed and feel this place is all hype! We arrived at 4:30 to have "linner" as we hadn't eaten lunch and it's close to dinner. We ordered the spicy endamame, who was better toward the bottom with more of the sauce, but they were undercooked. Between the two of us we ordered a filet, prawn lo mein, Brussels sprouts, and mashed potatoes. Everything was mid at best. My prawns were overcooked, the lo mein was gloried spaghetti with garlic sauce, the filet was pretty yummy, and the sides, were not memorable. Our waitress was great until she cleared my daughter's plate the second she finished eating and I still had more than half my meal. She was still eating the sides. The bathroom was pretty and they use nice hand towels. I had two happy hour cosmos and our bill was close to $200. This place is way overrated and not worth it in my opinion. read more

My date and I dined here on Sunday January 12. Our reservation was for 545 because they were busy, and deservedly so. The space is quite beautiful with a bar and two very similar wings of tables. The ambiance is classy and upscale, as one would expect in Scottsdale. Our waitress, Kali S, was a sheer delight from start to finish. They remembered my recent birthday, which made me and my date SO happy. My Grey Goose and Soda was perfectly made and we opened the meal with an amazing California Roll (very fresh and tasty). The main courses were presented and my Thai Basil Chicken and Shrimp dish was spicy (and I love that) and delicious. My date's Miso Blackcod was likewise expertly prepared and presented. The side dish of Garlic Noodles were lovely. Special thanks to my friend Cantenn who I've known for years and who is now managing this fantastic restaurant. We will be back ASAP. read more

Lets me start by saying at the end we were told this is their "soft" opening. Grand opening is 1/16. That being said...we were excited to see Jing here in Scottsdale . On a road trip a couple of years ago we ate at a Denver location and really enjoyed it. We went on New Year's Day when they opened at 3pm. It started out moderately busy but got busier and stayed that way until we left. My wife and I took our daughter and her husband. Ordered a round of cocktails and they took a long time to come. We were going to be there a while and ordered in phases. For starters we ordered the chili edamame which wasn't that spicy and the ends were cut off which made it tougher to eat. Also, the Mandarin green beans which had a garlic confit which was pretty good over all. A nice rock shrimp tempura and garlic duck fat French fries. We also had the Spicy Wonton's which I liked but was in the minority. We told them to just bring things out when ready but it too an incredibly long time to get any food at all. We took this in mind and when food did start coming out we ordered entrees and more cocktails. It appeared they had one bartender who was trying to Tom Cruise the cocktails to the full bar ....they need more bartenders and especially when busy cut out the BS pour some drinks. The next round my daughter had the Hamachi Crunch which she said was very fresh but flavorless. I enjoyed the Crispy Sesame Chicken but it could have used some more sauce. My wife got the bone in short rib which everyone enjoyed. Our son in law really liked the Peppercorn Tenderloin. We also had white rice and my wife ordered the Peking Duck for the table. The duck was great but when they brought out the flower wraps ...there were only 4 in the bamboo steam pot. We all had one small wrap and asked for more wraps which took forever while the duck was getting cold. I will give props to our server Barrett. Even when the food and drinks were coming out slowly she checked in regularly with us and apologized for things being slow. I'm sure you have been to a restaurant where when things go a little south the server disappears. This girl bravely walked into the fire and for that she got a healthy tip for her courage, Overall the food was really good and the ambiance was great. Pretty restaurant. A LOT of employees working the floor. A few guys in suits which may have been managers, my critique would be that a manager should have come by and checked in. I know they knew things were slow. I didn't see any of those guys helping behind the bar or anything either. This will be a regular rotation for us. They have a 3-6pm every day happy hour which is in the pocket for Scottsdale. The downside is a beautiful building set sideways and you look out at a Safeway. It's in a strip mall and there is a McDonalds as well. The good is you can see Jing from Scottsdale road when passing...the bad is it has the nicest house in the neighborhood syndrome. Let's hope the great reviews keep coming and people stop in and try it. read more

Pretty amazing experience last night at Jing. Must admit I had reservations that it might be snobby and too much Scottsdale glam but we were pleasantly surprised. The staff was wonderful, service wonderful, kitchen timing wonderful, amazing flavors, and the entire vibe and spacing between seating areas - simply spot on. So much thought and planning goes into a place like this and it expressed itself in the little things. Like, you never hear a plate, glass, or silverware noise the entire night - just people. it's never too loud yet always buzzing. The food variety and quality is outstanding and the drinks were all solid. The Happy Hour drinks were also quite good. A few standouts: - Chef Anthony Griese's tableside visit. Polish, class, and talent is all I can say. - Get the garlic noodles - Anything with Yellowtail (Hamachi) was a sure bet - we had them all including the hand rolls. - Duck fried rice was yummy - Lobster dim sim Make a res or you probably won't get in. What a welcomed new addition to Scottsdale! High end, full bar, impressive menu and beautiful decor. We went when they were open for only a few days so service was a little sketchy and "segmented" and s l o w ... especially the bar. We noticed the bartender "performing" bar tricks instead of filling backed up bar requests. But once we received our cocktails they were a good pour. Really wanted to love this place... mostly because North Scottsdale is seriously lacking a spot that delivers consistently great bites. First impressions? The aesthetics are beautiful -- almost too beautiful for a grocery store plaza location, but honestly I'll take it. The vibe feels like Italian lounge meets upscale Chinese restaurant, which somehow works. Menu leans Asian fusion: sushi, Thai curry, fried rice, miso black cod, etc. My honest take? I'd come back for happy hour -- and mainly the happy hour. Standout: the tuna pizza. Ahi tuna + micro cilantro + capers + truffle oil = a surprisingly great combo. It's different from what most places around here are doing and definitely the most memorable bite of the night. The rest of the sushi rolls? Pretty average. The hamachi crunch roll felt basic and didn't really stand out. Rock shrimp tempura: maybe skip... unless you enjoy 95% batter and 5% shrimp. And the biggest letdown: miso black cod. The vibe of the restaurant is something you would normally find in old town, Scottsdale. The service and the food was excellent. My husband and I went during happy hour and tried almost everything on the HH menu and everything was amazing. The short rib dumplings as well as the spicy wontons were my favorite. Tuna pizza, Hamachi Crunch Roll, Truffle mushrooms, Green goddess roll. The ambiance is like a restaurant/club but very elegant and classy! The managers Cantenn, Ryan, Alex, Dave, Stefanie truly made this night so enjoyable it really feels like you are hanging out with friends when you come to Jing! Scottsdale needs more of these eclectic ambience, restaurants like Giada's and Vanderpump's and now Jing Martinis for $10 at happy hour are great value in this town. They have our favorite oysters, Kusshi which my wife said were delicious Garlic noodles are fabulous and come close to the ones that crustacean in Beverly Hills. Next time I will order with the prawns I ordered the gold Uni nigiri sushi. Although they were very, very small for $19 for two pieces that's about the going right for one large order in Scottsdale. We dined here for NYE. Truly the best new restaurant in Scottsdale. Blown away by not only the service & ambiance, but the food was out of this world. The tuna pizza, lobster dumplings, and garlic noodles were the highlights of the night. Every person at our table also said that the miso cod was the best they had ever had, even non-fish eaters! The DJ/music was also incredible. Our waitress, Maudi, handled our 10-top with ease and had the best energy... she was great! The GM, Alex, was on the floor greeting and checking in on tables as well as the head Chef, Thomas - very impressive!
