We were invited to Bei Sushi by a friend of mine who set very high expectations for the place. The location is located in a strip mall with lots of parking. We were very sceptical at first but the recommendation was spot on. We were seated right away and our server Bela approached immediately. She was very friendly and went down the menu telling us all about the specials and her recommendations. We needed no recommendations because we were there for one thing the Bei special. The special was an assortment of various rolls assembled beautifully making each piece stand out. The first bite was divine and as we worked around the ring of rolls they got better and better. The sauces brought perfect harmony and complemented the fish. The sushi was incredibly fresh not having the fishy order lingering. The rolls melted in your mouth like butter leaving you satisfied. It was so good we placed a second order. Bela stopped by frequently checking on us and also telling us about the restaurant and the area and provided a friendly atmosphere that you do not often get in northern Midwest. The Spider Roll was very good except for the sauce on top that did not suite our palate but after removing the sauce it was fantastic. The Hot Mama Roll was also amazing. The flavors went well with the Yuki Mango Nigori Sake. We also tried some of their beers and spent a while catching up. Belas service was second to none and made this reunion fabulous. The sushi at Bei was better than 95% of our sushi restaurants in my state and the price was very good. They also have a cute cat robot that delivers food! *To-go order and service* I was down the street for a business event that went way overtime. My friends and I got too hungry and by 2pm, so we searched for the restaurants around that offered lunch specials and found Bei. I was so surprised that they offered lunch bento boxes specials until 2:15pm! Yay us! Both the salmon and Korean beef were soooooo delicious! For $13 each, we got A LOT of food!!! The spicy white fish baked roll 9.2/10 ,the gyoza was about an 8.9/10 and the lobster rolls thingy were a solid 9/10. This place got 5 starts cause the food combined with the service was amazing. With two cokes and 3 rolls and gyoza with tip came to 75 dollars well worth it and yes I will go back again . Couldn't figure out why based on the ingredients. The Scottsdale Roll had that generic sushi taste to it since it was drowned in sauce. I caught happy hour so the Hawaiian Roll was lower priced. Their sushi bar specials come with miso soup. I've had the sushi combo which comes with 4 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces of California roll for only $12.95 and you can upgrade to a spicy tuna roll for 50 cents more. It was actually a lot of food and probably my favorite. The chirashi combo-7 piece chef's choice sashimi over rice $14.50 was ok. We were there at 6 and were pleasantly surprised when we found out that they have happy hour everyday from 4-7. Restaurant was pretty occupied but it was easy to find a table as it is a sizable place. We sat close to the robot "cat" server. It was pretty entertaining for our kid. We ordered edamame and fried calamari as well as six sushi rolls and one soda. They had the majority of rolls discounted. They had other options on the menu also including noodle dishes but we were there for the sushi. Edamame was good. Calamari was interesting. I've never had ones that are cooked in huge pieces like that, so the texture felt almost a little different but ok. The dipping sauce complimented them really well though. The rolls were all very good, some better than others. I always pick cooked rolls so it took a little while for them to come out. All were were fresh and had good flavor. Our favorite was probably love is blind. Total before tip was around $80. If I remember correctly, the most expensive roll during happy hour was about $13+ Worth a try for sure! read more

I was searching for a sushi spot in the area and landed on BEI as they felt like they had the most variety of sushi rolls and options. When I arrived at night, the parking/shopping area it's located in seems very sketch as it's super dark and they are the only establishment opened at night. Creepy and not great vibes. While it was a full restaurant, it seems to be a bit run down which gives it a hole in the wall feel. Came here for a quick lunch with a friend. We arrived near the end of their lunch time, but the staff were kind in accommodating us and helping us get our order in before the kitchen closed. I ordered the tempura bento and my friend got the chirashi bowl. They have a little robot bring your food to you, so that was fun. The food came out quickly and was tasty. Really good, fresh sushi! I like my sushi with lots of flavors and sauces and this place has that. We didn't go for happy hour but def will in the future as I saw some of the rolls we picked are on their extensive HH menu. Food was delicious and came out quick. We ordered extra sauces and everything was so flavorful. The rolls we tried were: baked Alaska roll, Vegas roll and hot night roll. The Vegas roll was my favorite :). I really like Bei Sushi. Their lunch bento box is the best. I recommend them highly. Their food is fantastic! Their lunch hours are open until 2:30 but was once turned away at about 1:55. Came here for dinner a week or so ago. It was easy to get a table. Not too crowded for a Thursday night. First thing I noticed when we got there was the smell. It smelled very fishy and that is the first sign of seafood not being fresh. FOOD Potstickers - These were crunchy and the filling was flavorful. California Roll - It was okay. I wouldn't make Bei a date night destination, but I would recommend for sushi in a pinch... just keep your expectations in check and you will be fine. I have ordered from BEI many times. All of the previous orders were fantastic. Unfortunately, tonight it was a 2 out of 10. The house salad dressing was the consistency of water. It literally wouldn't even coat the lettuce. The salad was ok but it would have been nice to have had dressing that I could taste on the salad. The yellowtail sashimi was good. No wasabi. The eel was good and size was as usual. The roll was horrible! The rice was a big mushy mess and old. The avocado tasted old. The nori was like trying to chew a rubber band. The chicken teriyaki was 80% old mushy rice, 18% over cooked vegetables and 2% of bits of chicken. The amount of chicken wouldn't even make up a single chicken finger in size! Great little casual spot with all your basic sushi needs. I've driven by Bei dozens of times and never even saw it! I went solo dolo for happy hour at 9pm and got seaweed salad, the baked salmon roll, and the volcano roll. It was really good! I loved the rolls and the salad portion is huge. If you want cooked rolls, these two are the way to go. I love how much fish is on top of the volcano, and the salmon roll felt so light.
