I love their matcha! It's the best matcha in town. I've only had their bulgogi lunch special for now and it's delicious!
Had high hopes for this place based on the number of reviews but upon entering I detected a musty smell from a combination of the heat, humidity and poor air circulation as one walked passed the sushi area and on the way into the restrooms. Overall food was just average and based on the clientele they were regulars who came for the all day 1/2 off Mondays. The various pieces of raw seafood were not cold overall (6 out of 10) for coldness) with the exception of the seaweed salad. Chicken Karage was interesting as the side sauce was mustard which normally one would be provided with yuzu which we received afterwards. For those who know good quality sushi - this is not the place to go but if you want something to fill you up and don't care so much about the quality then this is the place for you.
We've been back quite a few times now to this location and definitely enjoy the happy hour offerings. Monday is all day happy hour Tuesday through Sunday. They have two happy hour time frames to take advantage of. Always great Customer Service, fast and efficient, casual vibes excellent quality sushi.
Good rolls especially the Philadelphia- I thought I was in Philly, it was so tasty Don't bring your guns inside - sign informs all guests! The windows are blacked out so you may miss it, look for the sign above!
This was a great experience! The service was great. The food came out fast, but hot and fresh. The tempura was so crunchy and light. The bulgogi had great flavor. Do yourself a favor and go for lunch on a weekday. 2 HUGE bentos for $31 before tip.
*To-go order and service* I was down the street for a business event that went way overtime. My friends and I got too hungry and by 2pm, so we searched for the restaurants around that offered lunch specials and found Bei. I was so surprised that they offered lunch bento boxes specials until 2:15pm! Yay us! Both the salmon and Korean beef were soooooo delicious! For $13 each, we got A LOT of food!!! It was the most satisfying meal I've had in a while. They quoted us 20 minutes for pick up and only took maximum 15. Thank you for saving us from starvation!!
Service was excellent and the food was a whole heck of a lot better then the last sushi place we went to. I loved it here . We had the baked scallop dynamite roll 9.6/10. The spicy white fish baked roll 9.2/10 ,the gyoza was about an 8.9/10 and the lobster rolls thingy were a solid 9/10. This place got 5 starts cause the food combined with the service was amazing. With two cokes and 3 rolls and gyoza with tip came to 75 dollars well worth it and yes I will go back again . It felt like warm hugs on Christmas Eve eating here and it's literally a mile down the road from the house and we loved it here.
Average. Service was good so that is why they get a 3. I went by myself and ordered two rolls. The Hawaiian Roll sounded like a good idea but the execution was not. Tasted bitter. Couldn't figure out why based on the ingredients. The Scottsdale Roll had that generic sushi taste to it since it was drowned in sauce. I caught happy hour so the Hawaiian Roll was lower priced. By myself, I was full. I was traveling for business so I'll probably never have a chance to go there again. It was just average. I would think there'd be better places to spend your money.
Really great sushi spot have really good food and a really great happy hour including a late night one as well. They have little robots that deliver your food too, which was cool. The yellow tail was personally my favorite.
Ugh, I am so sad to post this. The service was stellar for sure. I wanted to excuse this visit because of the proximity of the holiday but, I just can't. My buddy and I have been frequenting relatively often and unfortunately last nights visit left us both stating that it's time to move on. As a normally veggie leaning person, I've been partaking in the sushi over the past year and the quality last night had me think of the takeout counter at the grocery store. So sad. So sad. We were seated at a table a bit small for our order and we made it work. It was busier than usual and as I said, service was great, food quality, not so great.
Dined here a few times during lunch and service was very friendly and attentive every time. They have a lot of really good lunch specials and they're a great value. Their sushi bar specials come with miso soup. I've had the sushi combo which comes with 4 pieces of nigiri and 8 pieces of California roll for only $12.95 and you can upgrade to a spicy tuna roll for 50 cents more. It was actually a lot of food and probably my favorite. The chirashi combo-7 piece chef's choice sashimi over rice $14.50 was ok. Unagi had a cold thick sauce over it which was kind of off putting for me. Although the lunch specials were pretty good, uni and spicy scallops were just so so and I wouldn't order again. Overall, it's a good spot to grab a quick sushi meal and it's very affordable.
Service was excellent, sushi rolls tasted very good and overall atmosphere was pretty chill. We tried Bei last night - Sunday. We were there at 6 and were pleasantly surprised when we found out that they have happy hour everyday from 4-7. Restaurant was pretty occupied but it was easy to find a table as it is a sizable place. We sat close to the robot "cat" server. It was pretty entertaining for our kid. We ordered edamame and fried calamari as well as six sushi rolls and one soda. They had the majority of rolls discounted. They had other options on the menu also including noodle dishes but we were there for the sushi. Edamame was good. Calamari was interesting. I've never had ones that are cooked in huge pieces like that, so the texture felt almost a little different but ok. The dipping sauce complimented them really well though. The rolls were all very good, some better than others. I always pick cooked rolls so it took a little while for them to come out. All were were fresh and had good flavor. Our favorite was probably love is blind. Total before tip was around $80. If I remember correctly, the most expensive roll during happy hour was about $13+ Worth a try for sure!
Guess I've never finished my review! I really like this place for lunch, never been here outside of lunch time. They have good specials, good sushi & clean service. I've been coming for years, if I'm in the south Scottsdale area during lunch I always drop in here for a good deal. Obviously the price has gone up, you get multiple choices. I go with the 2 rolls & soup for $12 always hits the spot. read more

They have a robot! I should start the review by mentioning that finding the entrance to the restaurant can be tricky. I was coming south on North Scottsdale road and turned in to a driveway right before the "Bei" sign on the building and ended up in an awkward narrow back alley behind the restaurant. The restaurant is in a strip mall with several other businesses and there is a common parking lot for all of them. I came here with my 5 year old son. He saw the pictures of the restaurant on reviews before we went and asked about the robot. We inquired when we were there and the robot can bring you your food upon request. I liked that they have lunch specials. The food was all very good. I ordered a matcha drink as well, which had a really good cold foam on top. The service was great. The servers were very nice and helpful. Ambiance - meh. It looks like a fast casual restaurant that has been around for a while. read more
We were invited to Bei Sushi by a friend of mine who set very high expectations for the place. The location is located in a strip mall with lots of parking. We were very sceptical at first but the recommendation was spot on. We were seated right away and our server Bela approached immediately. She was very friendly and went down the menu telling us all about the specials and her recommendations. We needed no recommendations because we were there for one thing the Bei special. The special was an assortment of various rolls assembled beautifully making each piece stand out. The first bite was divine and as we worked around the ring of rolls they got better and better. The sauces brought perfect harmony and complemented the fish. The sushi was incredibly fresh not having the fishy order lingering. The rolls melted in your mouth like butter leaving you satisfied. It was so good we placed a second order. Bela stopped by frequently checking on us and also telling us about the restaurant and the area and provided a friendly atmosphere that you do not often get in northern Midwest. The Spider Roll was very good except for the sauce on top that did not suite our palate but after removing the sauce it was fantastic. The Hot Mama Roll was also amazing. The flavors went well with the Yuki Mango Nigori Sake. We also tried some of their beers and spent a while catching up. Belas service was second to none and made this reunion fabulous. The sushi at Bei was better than 95% of our sushi restaurants in my state and the price was very good. They also have a cute cat robot that delivers food! Thank you Bela we hope to come back again on our next trip to Arizona to try more food. read more

Pretty unassuming restaurant from the outside, in a strip mall in Scottsdale. The inside looked clean. The food was pretty good. I loved the sushi lunch and Bei Special Roll I got. For sushi, the price is quite affordable. -1 for the service. Just because we felt like the server kept going past us when we tried to get their attention. We waited a bit until they came and took our orders. I'd still come back though :) read more

I was searching for a sushi spot in the area and landed on BEI as they felt like they had the most variety of sushi rolls and options. When I arrived at night, the parking/shopping area it's located in seems very sketch as it's super dark and they are the only establishment opened at night. Creepy and not great vibes. While it was a full restaurant, it seems to be a bit run down which gives it a hole in the wall feel. The food though was delicious and I would come back to try some of the other sushi rolls as I ordered it to go. I ordered three rolls including BEI Special Roll, Tropicana Roll, and Spicy scallop roll. All were good and would get them again. read more

Really good, fresh sushi! I like my sushi with lots of flavors and sauces and this place has that. We didn't go for happy hour but def will in the future as I saw some of the rolls we picked are on their extensive HH menu. Food was delicious and came out quick. We ordered extra sauces and everything was so flavorful. The rolls we tried were: baked Alaska roll, Vegas roll and hot night roll. The Vegas roll was my favorite :). Ambiance is nothing too special but that doesn't bother me since I was looking for fresh, yummy and comforting sushi!!! read more

Came here for dinner a week or so ago. It was easy to get a table. Not too crowded for a Thursday night. First thing I noticed when we got there was the smell. It smelled very fishy and that is the first sign of seafood not being fresh. FOOD Potstickers - These were crunchy and the filling was flavorful. California Roll - It was okay. The rice was a bit hard. Crunchy Roll - The texture of the shrimp was a bit tough. Cannot say we would recommend this spot. read more

Pretty average sushi spot in Scottsdale but not bad. Ambiance and quality is very average. Quality is pretty comparable to other mid level sushi restaurants in AZ. Had a lot of creative rolls and open late which is a plus. Would try elsewhere for nicer fish and ambiance. read more

A perfect example of a 4. The sushi is good not GREAT but the price is right. Service is hit or miss depending upon your server. Sometimes I'd rather their robot server lol. But incredible portions for the cost and the location is clean. Rarely too busy. My biggest gripe is that it can be slow but I will keep coming back. read more

I came here for happy hour and I was not disappointed. They had so many options on happy hour, and it goes until 7pm. It was very busy when we went, but our server did a great job of making sure we got everything we needed. We enjoyed some delicious appetizers and sushi rolls. They even have a robot bring you out your food. I would definitely come back! read more

Great little casual spot with all your basic sushi needs. I've driven by Bei dozens of times and never even saw it! I went solo dolo for happy hour at 9pm and got seaweed salad, the baked salmon roll, and the volcano roll. It was really good! I loved the rolls and the salad portion is huge. If you want cooked rolls, these two are the way to go. I love how much fish is on top of the volcano, and the salmon roll felt so light. Everything came out so quickly too, which my sushi cravings really appreciated! read more

Any plans to add a patio?
Are food photos in date order? I don't see any for 2022. The first few were from 2017!! :) Trying to get an idea of the quality and portion size.
I've been going here regularly for the last 8 years and the quality and portion size has always been consistent.
