    Spicy tuna crispy rice
    Mark C.

Like Diego Pops, this place has a phenomenal happy hour as it applies 3-6pm every day and features discounts on a lot of small plate items. As of this writing, Shiso is part of the InKind app so I suggest downloading that for discounts. I took advantage of the happy hour selection by trying asparagus fries, gyudon fries (poutine fries), spicy tuna crispy rice, and egg fried rice. For whatever reason, you get charged 4% as a "venue" fee in addition to the normal taxes. With the InKind discount (check Costco for InKind gift cards), this cost me $24.46 (includes tax and tip). The food itself was quite good and well presented. Service was very attentive and amiable. My personal favorite is the egg fried rice.

We came here for Happy Hour. We wanted to try their Caviar and Uni Nigiri, but unfortunately they were out of both, which was a little disappointing. Instead, we ordered the Poke Nachos, Mayak Eggs, Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Snow Crab Crispy Rice, and Asparagus Fries. For drinks, we got the Yuzu Me Baby and the Bomb. We were seated next to a fake cherry blossom tree, which was perfect for taking pictures. The entire restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a trendy, modern vibe. The food was alright, but to us, this place feels more like a hip spot for trendy people who enjoy the atmosphere and aesthetics as much as the food. Sometimes restaurants serve dinner, and sometimes they serve Instagram with a side of sushi. This one leans a little toward the latter.

The bulgogi noodles are so delicious, pair that with some edamame and a California roll and its perfection! The zen and juice is such a good mocktail, perfectly sweet, and the yuzu me baby has become one of my favorite cocktails in old town. Chic and chill vibe with an excellent happy hour. Service is always great and friendly. I recently went there for my birthday for a late lunch and unfortunately right after my dog passed away and the customer service was excellent!

05/16/2026 Came here with friends to celebrate a birthday. Our reservation was 5pm, but I got there with one friend around 4:30. They were not busy yet and seated us early. Happy hour was from 3-6pm and includes food and drinks. I started with the Dragon Girl cocktail. It was too sweet for me. My second drink, Bang Bang, was lighter and refreshing. For food, we mostly ordered off of the Happy Hour menu: Gyudon Fries - so good that we got two. Mayak Eggs - delicious marinade Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice - love the flavor and the crunch Snow Crab Crispy Rice - the slice of fresno chile on top added a great kick! On the regular menu, we got the KFC Nuggets. I think we got it with the sweet honey soy sauce. This was not bad, but I wouldn't order it again. Also, the menu did not state that this dish contained nuts, specifically chopped pistachio. One of my friends is allergic, and he felt a little tightness in the throat. Fortunately his symptom was minor, and he could still breathe. We told our server who then reported it to her manager. They were very apologetic and gave us a discount on our bill. I hope they learn from this and add allergy warnings to their menu, and train their staff to ask customers if the table has any food allergies. Aside from the brief health scare, my group had a good time and enjoyed the food. There was a DJ, so it was a bit loud. The overall vibe was pretty chill. I would go back again for happy hour and to try a few other items on the regular menu.

Great happy hour options until 6. We enjoyed the Gimbap roll and California roll "but better." They were both good, creative and definitely worth trying. We would probably try something different next time but plenty to explore. It was pretty quiet there when we went on a Wednesday night. The layout and atmosphere are beautiful and location is great. Was craving some Tuesday night sushi and decided to pop in for a light dinner! I like what they've done to revamp the place since taking over (moody lighting, murals on the walls, etc.). However, they do really blast the music. I'm not a huge fan of loud music while I eat, so if you aren't either, this might not be the spot for you. Let's get into the food! We took advantage of their happy hour and tried a few things including: 1. Edamame - I am a bit picky with mine and prefer it steamed without excess oil. They serve theirs pan fried, which I was not a fan of (personal preference of course!) 2. Cali roll but better - pretty decent roll for the price! A little sweet for my taste. 3. Spicy tuna crispy rice - a very one note dish that didn't particularly highlight the fish well. Just tastes like spicy mayo on crispy rice, so if that's your thing, you'll like this one! 4. Poke nachos - the best happy hour dish I tried. Served on 4 chips and was fresh, with depth in its flavor 5. Amber after dark - not a happy hour item, but a delicious roll. The best dish I tried here by far! 6. House white wine - can't beat a $6 glass of wine to go with sushi :) I will say, the best part of our visit was the service. The hostesses were so welcoming, the staff constantly refilled our waters and checked in on us, and we never had to wait too long for our next dish. Not sure if I'd revisit for dinner again, but maybe just for a drink/quick bite. Overall, glad I stopped in to try it out!

I can here during their happy hour and Danny and Destiny are chefs kiss!! Both so amazing, funny and helpful. Their happy hour selection was amazing. The Shiso Lychee drink was delicious and their fried rice was incredible. Highly recommend. Thanks Danny and Destiny!

I saw this new restaurant on instagram and knew that I need to try. We went for early weekday dinner right after they just officially opened. Rose tteokbokki is tasty with delicious boiled egg. It is unique and different from traditional tteokbokki I had before. Bulgogi bokkeum udon noodle is good but a bit hard to eat with chopsticks since the noodle was cut short, not long. The chef choice sushi has wonderful presentation with cute tiny details. Vanilla pudding with pear is so good and I wish I got some more.

This place is quite special, offering high-quality asian dishes in an upscale, almost club-style ambience. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. On Friday early evening, the place was rather packed but we got a nice table close by the dj. There is also less noisy outdoor patio although understanding the theme, the music was not too loud inside either. I ordered bibimbap which was one of the tastiest ones I have tried so far. Elegant and well balanced flavors. This place is a great new addition to the Old Scottsdale restaurant offering, so we'll be back soon again.

    4% venue fee
    Christie N.

They charge a venue fee. This restaurant is a Americanized version of Japanese food. If your looking for authentic this isn't it, Scottsdale has a lot of other more authentic sushi restaurants. It was nice vibe more like a bar for cocktails and some light bites. I had the Scottsdale rolls and they were too sweet. I had salmon nigiri and the salmon pieces were so small. The fried crab rice cakes were okay. The rice bowl we ordered was good but the hot clay bowl it was served in kept cooking the food and started burning the rice. It was so hot. My cocktail was very good. The main reason for my low rating though is they have a hidden fee on the receipt. They charge a 4% venue fee. We didn't know but they did tell us if next time we don't want to pay it we can let them know? Weird.

    Crystal R.

Waiter was very helpful, our dishes all came out at different times and he kept apologizing for the delay. It was very cool décor inside but the music was so loud you can't hear or talk to the people near you, it could have been our seats. Food was very good with a variety of flavors as well all did the restaurant week menu, would give it another try.

    JAPCHAE noodles
    Alyssa P.

We really enjoyed our experience at Shiso! This spot has been on my radar to try since it opened. The portion sizes are great. No tiny, overpriced dishes that leave you hungry! The JAPCHAE noodles were an amazing value and the dish was so full of flavor. We loved the patio vibe here right in the heart of Old Town. Will definitely be returning!

    Sushi rolls
    Sam W.

Drinks were good and the food was solid overall. Server was great. They don't have happy hour yet, but the staff said it should be starting next week. It felt a little pricey, especially given the limited pescatarian and vegetarian options. Drinks are abut $20-$25 each which is a lot - even for old town. The vibe was a bit mixed--the music skewed younger, so it didn't feel especially romantic and there's a lot of bar seating inside so maybe it's more of a casual pace? That said, the location is great and the patio outside is really nice. One big downside: there's a 4% service fee added at the end with no explanation or signage, which is why I leaned toward 3 stars instead of 4 (I'd say it's more of a 3.5 overall).

The quality of their meats is only slightly better than the AYCE places I've been there. Note that the parking lot is small. First off, we wanted to sit at a specific spot and they wouldn't let us citing that "they're not serving those tables." That was odd. Second off, we let them know that we were ready to order and they took awhile to actually take our order. My crony and I decided to get a large beef combo which is supposed to be able to feed up to 4 people. It consists of 4 beef dishes and one stew. This place did not have my favorite banchan which is rice paper. Rice is free at every other KBBQ place and it costs money here. We also ordered a mango bing soo (shaved ice dessert with condensed milk). Most of the mango bing soo was good but there were definitely a bunch of low quality mangos in there. The biggest disappointment is that this so called meal of 4 only actually feeds 2 people; it really sucks when an establishment blatantly lies to you. Also, service was fairly slow throughout the entire ordeal. Our whole bill came out to $186.93 for a table of two. Luckily, we got an InKind discount but even with spending this much money, I expected better service, better quality and quantity of meat.

I really wanted something with their house made tofu in it, and the oyster soft tofu soup sounded just right for me. It was a bubbling hot concoction served with a bowl of mixed purple and white rice with bits of squash mixed in. The soup was so good! It had a good amount of oyster and the broth was spot on. The tofu was just the right consistency for the soup and tasted great. You can request your spice level and the medium was just right for me. The rice was also really good and well prepared. The banchan we had for lunch were kimchi, marinated cucumber, seaweed, fish cake, and pickled cabbage and beet. The restaurant itself is spacious and we had our pick of seats. The walls in between tables are high enough to allow for privacy. Service was good and we were checked on as needed. I couldn't finish the meal so I took the rest of the soup and rice to go. Come to think of it, I've only been to a few Korean restaurants, two which served Korean corn dogs and the other I ordered a Japanese dish. As I was telling a friend about all this, she suggested we have lunch together at one, and I suggested this spot. I'd been in this complex before and this restaurant is stand alone on the NE corner of Dobson and Main in Mesa. Plenty of parking as we arrived at their opening hour of 11am. We chose a table towards the back and our server brought us water in a reusable bottle and steel cups, pretty cool. There is a QR code on the table to view the menu and a drawer on the end with napkins, spoons, and chopsticks. Never seen anything like that and thought it was clever. The Kpop music playing was a fun touch. I had perused the menu previously and liked that they had a separate vegetarian section. Although I am not vegetarian, I do like to eat it because it helps me avoid pork. I was in between their soup and bibimbap and decided to order the vegetarian tofu hot stone bibimbap ($16.50). Gotta try the tofu as it's in the name, and it's housemade which is neat. Our food did not take long to arrive and they were presented steaming and crackling, love that. My bowl was lovely and had tofu and veggies including sprouts, carrots, and bok choy. The rice on the bottom kept cooking so it became crunchy and delicious. The server brought us hot sauce (gochujang?) and I asked for soy sauce, since there was no sauce or flavor added to my bowl. I did like that it was fresh and healthy, and a good portion. I would've ordered the tofu bibimbap from the regular section since it comes with an egg on top, maybe next time. I was most excited about their banchan and trying the different small dishes. I did like that our server told us all the items in it were vegetarian except the fish cakes, that was helpful. Wondering why there was an empty space in the plate, though. I really enjoyed the fish cakes, the kimchi, and pickled cucumber as the latter two came in a tasty hot sauce. Not a big seaweed fan but it was fine, and the pickled beets/cabbage were on the sweet side but refreshing. We had a nice lunch here and this was a good introduction to Korean food! I'd be interested in trying more items in the future as the appetizers and soups looked appealing.

We ordered the bossam and the portion was incredibly generous. The pork belly was tender and absolutely delicious. It was so good wrapped up in the Napa cabbage with a bit of the salted shrimp, saamjang, jalapeño slice, raw garlic and the spicy radish salad. Really loved the spicy radish salad. Yumm chef's kiss! We also ordered the BBQ short ribs and the spicy beef brisket soup from their lunch menu offered Monday- Friday from 11AM-2PM. Everything was really flavorful and tasty. I will say the banchan was the least impressive part of the meal, although I really liked their kimchi. We were very satisfied with our meal and had a ton of leftovers as the portion sizes are huge. I actually enjoyed the leftovers for another four meals. Yes, there was that much food! Will definitely return and highly recommend if you're looking for some good Korean food.

Any waiter that hears the bell comes to your table to assist. The response never took longer than 20 seconds most of the time. To start the appetizer tray at the beginning is an awesome touch that I'm not used to in other places I have tried. It kind of took the guess work out of ordering in my opinion so I only had to focus on what meat or dish I wanted since my sides were already selected and refillable for free through the course of the meal. We ordered the seafood sundubu, beef bulgogi, and sweat and spicy korean fried chicken wings. The portion size was very generous on the wings and on the crispier side which my wife prefers. The seafood sundubu was delicious and was pleasantly surprised to see a decent amount of tofu and seafood types in the dish. The beef bulgogi was also tasty and as I said before just scratched that korean food craving that we had. This has been added to our rotation of date night locations for us! Oh also the bathrooms are very clean.

I ordered the kalbi and cold noodles for $26.00, and both were absolutely delicious. I had gone a few days without meat, so it was especially satisfying. I also enjoyed the banchan, and I finished everything except the fish cakes, which are just not my favorite. Overall, I really appreciated the meal and the experience. I'll definitely be back soon to try the kimchi stew.

We were a party of 12 visiting on vacation, and none of us are from the area. We ordered spam musubi and a chicken skewer as appetizers. Both appetizers arrived well after our entrees had already been served and we had essentially finished eating. Each time we asked about them, we were repeatedly told, "They're coming." Mind you, these are simple appetizers that should not take anywhere near that long to prepare. When we asked for the third time, we finally asked that the appetizers be cancelled since we had already finished our meal. At that point, the gentleman working the front area , tall, with red hair, loudly yelled from across the restaurant, in an extremely rude and confrontational tone, "It's already on the grill!" There was absolutely no reason to speak to paying customers that way. His response was unprofessional, unnecessary, and honestly created a very hostile and uncomfortable feeling during what should have been an enjoyable dinner, especially while our group was on vacation and simply trying to enjoy a meal together. When the appetizers eventually came out, we left them sitting there because we were already done eating and ended up taking them to go. He eventually told us they would be removed from the bill, which we appreciated, but that did not excuse the way the situation was handled. Again, the food was good, but good food does not make up for poor service and especially not for an employee speaking to customers in an aggressive and disrespectful manner. Management should seriously address how customers are treated, because the interaction with this particular employee overshadowed what could have otherwise been a good dining experience for our party of 12.

Food here is amazing, it's Korean BBQ so every table has a built in grill and you cook your own meats. The quality of food and the entire flavor profile of every single dish was spot on EPIC. There are 2 price options. It's AYCE basic choices for mid $30 range or AYCE full menu mid $40 range. We ordered the full menu option as we wanted to enjoy anything we wanted. Our party of six ordered Beef Bulgogi, Pork, Chicken, and Shrimp proteins. Lots of appetizer choices here so we ordered egg rolls, fried tofu, Korean pancake, and an assortments of mini side dishes. No joke . . . Every single dish is fantastic, well worth the price tag. The server was checking in on us constantly and refilling our drinks. She eventually switched the grill top as it got crusty from all the food we were cooking. Their website states that they also serve sushi but that is recently discontinued so don't expect to get sushi here. So here's some bad feedback next. I would have easily given Seoul BBQ 5 stars BUT . . . We were a party of 6. One person in my group just had major dental work (teeth extraction) earlier in the day and she wanted to join us at the table and just hang out with us. Obviously she couldn't eat so we made a request if my friend can just be at the table and not be charged the $45 buffet price. Even with this explanation and with obvious gauze sticking out of her mouth, the hostess declined our request and told us she had to pay the entire $45 buffet fee just to sit at the table. So my friend paid $45 just to sit among my eating family members only for the privilege of sitting at the table and not eating any food since it was impossible for her to eat after getting teeth pulled out. So our check was around $350- ish. They automatically added 20% gratuity for a group of 6 even though only 5 people actually ate AND we were charged for 6 people eating. So when you come here, please make sure that everybody in your group plans to eat. They will make ZERO exceptions. I wouldn't be surprised if you brought your baby child with no teeth and they end up charging you just for bringing your child with you despite the fact that your baby drinks from the bottle. Yes, this is one of those places. Also if you just had braces placed on your teeth and can't eat food that day, you will still be charged full price anyway just for hanging out with your family. On the flip side, the food is seriously good here. I really felt like giving them 2 stars due to force paying my non eating friend but the food quality is just superb.
