I was realllly craving sushi today and ordered from sushi crush. I usually don't like to order takeout for sushi until I've tried the place in person but I'm glad I gave them a shot. I ordered the mild Jin ramen which was spicy, had a nice kick. Great flavor! For sushi I ordered 1 Philly roll, 1 albacore roll, 1 smelt egg, and 1 salmon egg sushi. The fish was fresh and delicious. Cucumber salad was ok. Sliced very thin. The sauce was not very flavorful, a bit watery for my taste. The miso soup was very tasty and the dressing on the salad was delicious! Loved the sesame oil flavor! They should use this dressing for the cucumber salad! I ordered gyu nigiri again because it was so good last time. Sorry to s as y it was good but not as great as I remember. It was a bit cold and salty today and no taste of truffle. :( Ended with a quail shooter (no alcohol, no Siracha). It was okay. A bit too sweet. Servers were friendly and attentive. My only suggestion would be to approach guests from the front not from the back. I had to keep turning around to respond to them. Back at Sushi Crush and had to leave another review because this place never misses! The vibe in here is super cute -- great decor, good music playing in the background (not too loud, so you can actually have a conversation), and overall just a chill, welcoming atmosphere. It wasn't packed today, which was a nice change since it's usually buzzing every time I come. Service was great as always. The sushi chefs are amazing and everything comes out fresh and beautifully done. I ordered my usual Atkins Roll -- wrapped in cucumber for anyone who needs something keto- or Atkins-friendly -- plus shrimp (because why not?). A family member and I decided to come try this spot out for lunch recently. After looking over the menu, we decided to start with the soft-shell crab and ordered a bunch of rolls to share. The rolls we ordered were the salmon skin roll, spider roll, sunset roll, golden California, and the spicy scallop nigiri. The soft-shell crab was surprisingly refreshing with the salad it came with, and the crab itself didn't have a strong ocean-y flavor. Out of all the items we ordered, the ones we enjoyed the most would have to be the sunset roll and the salmon skin roll. The salmon quality in the sunset roll was fresh; the roll overall was light with a nice balance of flavors and textures. Their salmon skin roll (a roll we usually order wherever we go) was one of the better ones we've had in a while, it didn't have a distinct fishy after taste to it, which is a plus. Overall, the quality of the fish wasn't the highest, but it was decent. The prices were also appropriate for the quality and quantity of food we received. Service was alright, friendly but somewhat slow. We came during lunch time, and it was busy; it seemed like there was only one server taking orders. Otherwise, everything else was satisfactory. Don't let the outside appearance of the restaurant fool you, there's a lot more seating both indoors and outdoors than you would assume. read more

Hadn't been here in a few years and ordered to-go tonight and it was just not good. The rolls did not taste as fresh as I remember and were on the fishier side and left a bad after taste. We got 2 second climax rolls, Philly roll, and California roll. Sadly, all of them missed the mark. The California roll was really gross and they must have changed the second climax roll because it used to be better. Wow. This place never fails us. We came for date night and were in and out in under 30 minutes. We were not rushed by any means. There were many couples around us who sat and enjoyed their time. A group of girls and I were on a bachelorette trip to Sedona and decided on some sushi for take out. Sushi Crush was just down the street from us so we decided to check out the menu. I gotta say, I love their names for their specialty rolls. From Booty Booty roll to Climax to guilty pleasure roll, the names were definitely fun. They seemed to have plenty of variety at a fairly decent price (around $9 for basic roll and $15ish for a specialty roll) We spent $100 on 8 rolls between five girls which wasn't bad at all. The estimate pick up was 20 minutes so that was also impressive. I also appreciated that they packed each roll individually AND wrote the names of the rolls on the outside. This made it so easy to give each person their roll. Now, upon first impression on the rolls: I was not too impressed. The filling was very scarce for both the basic and specialty roll. Rice looked like a thin layer but ultimately felt like a larger proportion compared to what was inside. Flavors were okay but these rolls honestly reminded me of the crappy cheap rolls you'd find at a grocery store. I've had a variety of sushi at different restaurants, and the quality just wasn't it for this place. You definitely get what you paid, but seemed like we were overcharged since the quality was just so sub par. It's a shame because they had so many fun creations and the service was great. But, when food should be the star of the show, this knocked down the rating. read more

We got to this place and seems cool . Got some cool art work . The location is cool. Just want to say we are old and we are blind and we can't see. Putting us in a table that's hard to see our menu is kinda a let down there are other place in this establishment that is well lit for us to be seated there. The table you sat us is not really clean? Because of the table being dark maybe it's hard for workers to wipe the table down. As for the food we started out with the edamame garlic. The ell roll , the rainbow roll and the shrimp tempura. All were good and great to eat! And from the looks of it the place is starting to close up. The ginger is fresh. Workers/waiter seem to forgot about us not refilling the water .... $45 is not bad for what we ate. Would I go back maybe and next time I'm seated at this restaurant I will ask to be in a more lit area so I can see what I'm eating. Overall this place is great! The Tuna hand rolls were my favorite. The baked mussels were very tasty and I like that they had scallops on it too. The crispy tuna appetizer was also very good. The deep fried rice ball was a great touch. The restaurant and restrooms were very clean and the staff was very nice. I also like that you can pay with a QR code. Its a little on the expensive side, but their chicken fried rice is the best I've found in the area. I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest and the fried rice I've found all over Phoenix/Scottsdale is MUCH different than what I'm used to. The climax roll has shrimp tempura, and cream cheese on the inside and spicy tuna, sliced jalapeno, garlic, tobiko and 3 sauces on the top. My server, Alan, had a great tip for me. Last time I was there I remembered him telling me that I can ask them to cut the tail off my shrimp tempura ends of my sushi roll. Not the friendly conversation like at Sushi Brokers. After an appointment in the area and wanting to try a new place for sushi for lunch, found this place on Yelp. We were greeted right away and our server was very kind and attentive the entire time. They have a great lunch menu. Hubby and I both chose the Lunch Sushi Crush $13.75 which consists of miso soup, salad, 4 pieces of nigiri, 8 pieces of California roll and 8 pieces of spicy tuna roll. It was a ton of food and what a great value! My favorite was the tuna nigiri with a bit of real wasabi on top. It was so buttery and melted in my mouth. We were both very full and still had 11 pieces of California roll and 7 pieces of spicy tuna roll left over! I loved their decor, atmosphere, and how friendly everyone is. This is a very cute place! I love the recycled football field turf on the patio. We just stopped in for a drink because Zipps was busy (and it sucks, generally). Atmosphere - There was a fair amount of tables and chairs in the restaurant. They also had full booths and half booth tables available. The restaurant was located inside of a shopping center parking lot. So, I had to drive inside a little bit. The place had a couple of other customers at tables when we arrived. At least two other sets of customers arrived while we were there. The menus were placed on the table. One was a paper menu we could write on. No music. I liked that. Restrooms available. I didn't visit. Temperature inside was good. I have been to handful of places where it's been hot. Modern vibe with interesting light fixtures and a huge hip painting on the wall. They have patio but it was too hot outside to sit and they had large green wrapped objects out there that they were storing. Food - We ordered a lunch special, available until 2 pm. It was the pork katsu with salad, rice, orange slices, 3 piece gyoza, miso soup, and spicy tuna. You could choose from a set menu something other than the pork katsu, gyoza, and spicy tuna roll. For example, chicken katsu, crab puff, and cucumber roll. The pork katsu was a bit fatty. The batter was light, but not the lightest I have had. It was also a little oilier than other places I have been. It came with a nice possibly mayo based dipping sauce That was orange colored. The iceberg lettuce salad had a nice crunch to it with a slightly citrusy possibly soy mirin dressing. The rice not very moist. I think it was a different rice than what I am used to. The orange slices were diced with no peels. I have not seen that before but it makes it easy to eat. The gyoza was crispy on the outside and decent. There was also a soy sauce colored dipping sauce for it as well. The miso soup was hot, typical and fine. We also had the sushi lunch special. It was three rolls for a reduced price. We got the tootsie roll, shrimp tempura roll and the yellow tail roll. I have had better yellow tail and spicy tuna rolls elsewhere. We didn't get much ginger. I could have done with more. The shrimp tempura and tootsie rolls tasted fine. Service - I saw three employees there. The service here was fine. They had a sushi chef and two waiters. They have a sign that says to wait to be seated, but they let us pick our own seats and sit down. Ordering went well and the miso soup came out fairly quickly. It took a little while for the sushi and bento to arrive. Did not get a chance to ask for more ginger. Background - Was in the area and I like sushi. The health score on Yelp for cleanliness shows an A, which is good. Parking - The parking lot is shared with other businesses. As usual, lots of good parking. However, no parking meters or parking structures. A parking structure with solar panels on top or plants would be nice. Otherwise, no shaded spots available. Future - Maybe not as a target destination. There are lots of sushi places in the valley for me to try out first, before another visit. read more
