I just remember we were seated at the tables toward the right side and it was hot. I decided to give it another try and also wanted cold noodles again after eating it on my recent LA trip. Now I'm on the hunt for the place with the best kimchi cold noodles in AZ (on the east side). I ordered the Radish Neang Myun while my family shared the Lettuce wrap w/ spicy pork, Galbi and Kimchi pancake. The Lettuce wrap combo also came with soy bean stew. The Radish Neang Myun was refreshing on a hot day. I prefer mine with a more spicy kimchi flavor. I added in some from the banchan with lots of vinegar and some hot mustard. My family liked the lettuce wrap and meats but my mom said the soybean paste stew was salty. Wish they offered kimchi stew instead of soybean paste stew, or give the option to choose one or the other. I tried a piece of the kimchi pancake and felt it needed more kimchi flavor and some scallions to add some color to it. The spicy citrus soy sauce it came with wasn't spicy at all. We stopped by here on a weekday for dinner. The place is pretty spacious and clean, and I like how they use curtains and wooden dividers between tables. It gives it a cozy Korean feel. We ordered the rice cake & dumpling soup, jokbal, spicy beef soup, and the hangover ramen. The rice cake & dumpling soup was nice and comforting. I liked the texture of the rice cakes--really chewy--and the dumplings were good too. It was our first time trying jokbal. Honestly, we didn't know what to expect, but we ended up liking it. Came to dinner here last night on a whim and so glad we did. The decor inside is so nice and has a lot of Korean elements. The service was friendly and when we asked to sit at a bigger table for two, he kindly obliged. We got the boiled pork slices (bossam) and the Korean army stew. The food tasted great. We also enjoyed makgeolli and it was refreshing. The only complaint would be that for the bossam dish, it's an extra charge for lettuce. The name is literally translated to wrap so it's meant to be wrapped in leaves so I thought it was silly it wasn't included with the meal. It was about ~$100 for the two of us. read more

Amazing food! We love the jokbal (pig feet) here, which comes with sauce and garlic and an onion salad. The minced neon was also tasty. The squid and bulgogi were also absolutely amazing. The decor is super cute. And the food is just as good. We seated behind a partition that made us feel like the wait staff wasn't being as attentive, but it wasn't a problem. Our food took a little bit long to come out, but we had the ban chan to hold us over, we loved all of it. My favorite item was the kimchi pancake, it was just the right amount of funk and I ate the entire thing despite having my own entrée as well. The tofu soup was good, as was the bibimbap. First time at Babo Jumak. The tteokbokki was really good: chewy rice cakes in a rich, spicy sauce that kept me coming back for more. Great dish as an appetizer/shared meal. I ordered the spicy pork bibimbap and it did not disappoint -- super flavorful with just the right amount of heat. The pork was tender and everything mixed together perfectly. Wow, this was my first time coming here and the food was amazing! The service was quick and efficient, and our server was incredibly attentive to everything we needed she kept coming back to refill our banchan sides. I ordered the lunch special of the day, which included a soybean cabbage soup with bulgogi and rice for $17.99. The lunch special is dependent on what the chef makes that day. I've been dying to try Babo Jumak since learning it replaced or renovated from Banchan! The interior is so cozy and spacious, and service was also attentive. The menu is quite varied, which was nice. We ordered several items, and the portions were a good size--definitely a great place to eat family style to try a bit of everything. Overall, the food was tasty and left a good impression. While I don't see myself craving any one of their particular dishes on a random Thursday, it's earned a place in our food outings rotation if I'm craving Korean food in general. The food was absolutely delicious! The spicy beef bibimbap was not a common dish in Korean restaurants in the valley, and this is definitely worth trying! The beef was ice cold, which went so well with the veggies! The raw egg made the dish more creamy, making it so balanced. The spicy beef soup was one of my favorite too. They put a lot of mushrooms in the soup, and you don't usually get this flavor anywhere else. Love their banchan as well - super fresh and light! I was so excited to try Babo Jumak, new Banchan. Their really remodeled the interior and it was so cool- old style Korean pub/diner feel and they added variety of Korean pancakes! We got to try Ssam bap (bulgogi or pork bulbogi with vegetables and a small soy bean stew). Side dishes were good, but when main came, we were quite disappointed. Decided to try this spot now that it had been taken over. They redecorated it really nicely inside. I think it looks quite inviting. The service is a little slow when it's really busy but they're super friendly. The beef bone soup (seolleongtang) was my favorite and I'll definitely be going back for that. They ran out of the beef tartare so we'll have to try that next time. The acorn jelly salad was an interesting texture but a refreshing addition to what we ordered. The Korean fried chicken bites were crispy and well seasoned. We also got the boiled pork slices (suyuk) which were really delicious. Authentic Korean food. The decor reminds me of old school Korea. It was packed on a Saturday evening. The banchan came out and we ate it immediately because they were all so fresh and delicious. Kimchi isn't my favorite but this is one of the best I've had. We got the bossam and they said that the lettuce is an extra $5, which is a bit disappointing given that it should be eaten with lettuce. Bossam was good, could be a little bit less in the dry side. We got the kimchi and pork stew and the kimchi was amazing. The only negative was the pork which was mostly fat and too overcooked. We also got seafood pancake which was the best I've had here in the us. Not too thick and was crispy on the edges. Because they were so packed our waiter was a bit less attentive but we asked another waitress for spoons and she was so nice. After dinner we were chatting outside and the same waitress asked us if we wanted water or to comeback inside - so thoughtful and kind! Loved the service and food though please note that their menu is much different than what is showing in Yelp photos. It seems like it may have changed names/ownership and they no longer have the same menu (I had gone for soondubu/tofu soup, but they no longer had it). I tried the soybean soup, seafood pancake, mandu, and hot bibimbap and they were all great. I also loved the amount of complimentary bon chon that they provided. The thing that stood out the most from all this is the freshness of their ingredients. I haven't been here since they've renovated but I'm SO HAPPY I CAME BACK! My boyfriend and I were starrrrrvinggg after a long day at work and UGH THIS PLACE HITSSSSS. The inside is so nice and well lit. Their aged kimchee with pork belly hot pot was so savory and not too spicy at all. I also tried their corn silk tea, very refreshing!! Portion sizes are more than enough to fill you. When I tell you, when the food came out, my boyfriend and I realized we are BIGGG BACKSSS. Even though we only ordered 2 items off the menu, this was enough food to feed a family of 5-7. We're only 2 people. I really enjoyed how fresh the vegetables tasted. We ordered the seafood pancake that was full of green onions and veggies. I really like the soup here, but a little sad that they don't include egg in their soondobu. The banchan is my favorite and sometimes it comes with egg and pickled cucumbers. This is one of the places where I went in with no expectations and was blown after at how good the food was. Typically when I want Korean food, we go to a hot pot or KBBQ spot but our friends recommended this place for our double date. The food was simply amazing. My wife and I had the bulgogi, short ribs, and the fried chicken. Each dish was extremely flavorful and you got a lot of it. We shared each plate and had enough for lunch the next day. There were several of us who were seated together and while the restaurant was not overly busy, it was quite warm due to the air conditioning not working. We made the best of it and were able to enjoy many different dishes. I arrived a little late, so I didn't place my order with the rest of the group. I was able to enjoy a sampling of the tteokbokki and the japchae. The tteokbokki was nice and warm with a mild amount of spice. The japchae was cooked well but slightly greasy and my personal preference is to have more vegetables in it. The servers were attentive and we had a great time. The decor was simple yet nice. I am glad to know that this restaurant exists and will certainly try it again when I have a craving for Korean and I am too lazy to cook! read more

Was pretty disappointed with this place as I was expecting a decent new Korean restaurant. I ordered the beef tartare bibimbap and the meat came out icy. When I bit into it, it was almost like a beef popsicle as it was still hard and not properly thawed. I sent it back to the kitchen and they just sent it back saying it was supposed to be icy. It was such a pleasure eating Korean food after really missing it for over a week! This is a 100% Korean-run restaurant with traditional dishes I have not seen in Toronto for a long time. I ordered a saellongtang which I haven't had in years. Spouse said his kimchi-jjigae was better than he gets at home. The panchan was fresh. The service was very pleasant and professional. The kalbi was an add-on and tasted delicious - tender and well-marinated. Only minor criticism is that the salleongtang was fattier than I generally like. The beef was well-cooked but a lot of added extra fat for flavour - some folks like it fattier. I would highly, highly recommend this Korean restaurant. I had a look at the hwae mul pajjeon (seafood pancake) someone ordered and it looked exceptional. They prepare traditional Korean dishes I have not seen in a long time in Toronto.
