What a find in the heart of Tempe! A friend invited me to lunch here on. Monday and wow, they were busy! Full parking lot! That was good sign. We shared a Berry Avocado Quinoa Bowl and a Perfectly Grilled Cheese. They even plated them separately for us! (2 plates with half a grilled cheese and French fries on each and 2 bowls with our Berry Avocado quinoa! So sweet and helpful!) Everything was very delicious--fries were seasoned and crispy! The grilled cheese and sweet and salty (they use their spiced pear bread, a delicious four cheese blend and bacon). Quinoa bowl was very hearty! This was a quaint little place that I picked out based on reviews and the fact that they had a Cuban sandwich on the menu. It was very tasty. And hit the spot. I ordered one of the side salads but I asked if I could have them add fresh pear to it because of course the name of the place is Perfect Pear Bistro so I was naturally craving pears. The ambience was cute and classy. I sat on the patio because it was gorgeous outside, but I did take a peek inside and it has a low lit upscale rustic vibe. Cute healthy place located near ASU. Lots of healthy options including falafel as an option and fake chicken too! Service was good, lots of seating with a patio for outdoor seating as well. We went just before lunch so the seating was fast but noticed that there were alot of larger parties so it must've slowed the kitchen down because the wait for food was long. The butternut squash tacos were pretty good but to my surprise, the beans that came with it were out of this world amazing. I was shocked at how good the side of beans were that I couldn't stop eating them to take a picture! The Brussels sprouts though, were very disappointing. I couldn't finish them. They were overcooked and mushy the leaves were crispy which was nice but there wasn't even the most mild bite to the inside at all it was all leaves and mush. Not very appetizing to me. The service and ambiance were here was really nice and I'm sure I'll discover over things I like. By the time we left at 12:45 PM, the place was packed and people were hunting for spots on the side streets. Get here early. * The Vibe & History: The building has a classic Southwest structure that felt familiar. My suspicion was right--this space used to be a Mexican restaurant, which explains the layout. It's got a great casual feel, though be warned: as the crowd swells, the volume rises. It got a bit loud for conversation by the end of our meal. * Pro-Tip (Happy Hour): I didn't realize it until I looked at the menu later, but their Happy Hour runs daily from 11 AM - 6 PM. If you are looking for a deal on drinks, this is a huge window. The Menu: The menu gives off "California" vibes--fresh, healthy, and creative--but with some unique twists. Since we visited during the holidays, I asked about their Fall Menu, and they had some great seasonal options rotating in. It's nice to see a place that actually changes things up based on the time of year. The Food: * Peanut Coconut Curry Quinoa Bowl (4.25/5): This was my wife's choice, and I had instant food envy. Served warm with a mild, nicely executed curry sauce and small morsels of chicken. Perfect Pear is a great option in Tempe. They have a huge menu-something for everyone. When I've gone in the part I've had their sandwiches or pasta which have always been solid. This time I tried one of their quinoa bowls and it did not disappoint. Service is always friendly and pretty quick and the restaurant has a cute inside space and nice sized patio. I love getting the perfectly grilled cheese, and a waitress here once told me to do "nine grain bread" and parmesan crusted on the outside and i have no switched my order since! I tried the broccoli cheddar soup and unfortunately needed to send it back but the waitress was super nice about it and took it off the bill. It just tasted off to me, like it wasn't fresh and was burned when reheated. But I had the French pantry sandwich which was delicious. The balsamic on it was slightly overwhelming the other flavors but it was a tasty sandwich with great bread. My boyfriend had the southwest Philly sandwich which was really good too. I only had a few bites but didn't make a big deal about it since this is a rare occasion where the dish missed the mark. Parking is so-so, though there is street parking available. It gets packed during the lunch hour, but you can make a reservation, which helps. The servers are great, as always. Just a heads-up, when the place is full, it gets very loud. Perfect Pear is a great spot to stop in for a yummy quick bite! I've been to both the Ahwatukee and Tempe locations and service is always pretty good and the servers friendly. They can get pretty busy for lunch but nothing crazy in terms of wait times. My favorite item is the French pantry sandwich. It's the perfect mix of crisp, sweet pears and tender juicy chicken with great tang from mustard and balsamic glaze. The bacon jalapeño grilled cheese is also divine. Melty, salty, a little pop of sweet from the onions, and creamy from spinach dip. You cannot go wrong at Perfect Pear! read more

They have the best patio of all the Perfect Pear Locations and they have misters as well so it's not too hot in the patio area. The food is always on point and fresh. They offer outdoor seating with misters. They do accept reservations and we were able to be seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive and nice. For lunch I went with their spicy ginger quinoa bowl and added salmon. The portions are large and the ingredients are fresh. They also offer mocktails which I appreciate. Driving through Tempe, looking for lunch with a group of 5 hungry denizens, we stopped at Perfect Pear and settled into the cool, air conditioned bistro for some good eats. Friendly staff walked us through the voluminous menu and we started immediately on the Green Chili Cheese Dip - perfectly crisp nachos and some slices of toasted baguettes and a delicious gooey cheese with a spicy hit of chiles. I got the Peanut Curry Quinoa Bowl with a perfectly seasoned and cooked portion of salmon on the side - very creamy and delicious. Yelp guided us to the Perfect Pear Bistro for lunch and didn't let us down. I had the Spicy Ginger bowl. It was one of those dishes with a generous portion and such a delicious variety of ingredients, I didn't want to stop eating it and yet didn't want to overeat! It is served hot and the flavor of the roasted squash, Brussels sprouts was outstanding. I had chicken added to my bowl and it was tender and flavorful. It really added to the dish. My husband enjoyed the Marbled Cuban. It had great flavor and he opted for their sweet potato fries which were a great side to the sandwich. Reflecting on experiences is key because, after all, it's those fond memories we treasure most -- the ones we keep talking about and hold dear. At times, I noticed there wasn't a single staff member on the floor for an extended period. I ordered the falafel taco, which was extremely dry. My wife had the French Pantry chicken sandwich, which she felt had value due to the generous amount of chicken, but the quality was lacking. The place seems popular, though I'm not sure why -- perhaps there just aren't many options in the area. We sat inside, and at first glance, it didn't seem very clean. While waiting for our food, I glanced up at the ceiling fan, which was caked with dust and grime. It's unfortunate that our expectations were not met. Cleanliness is everything when it comes to a food establishment, and sadly, this experience fell well below our standards. read more

The sauces are flavorful and intense. We had to scrape off the sauce since the food was drenched. The Tuscan Rigatoni and Pear Cobb Wrap were very good. All the dishes were large portions. The indoor and outdoor ambiance made you feel very comfortable. The service was good too. The restaurant was busy until 6:45 pm because many of the patrons left to go to the ASU Gammage Theater. This is probably the best lunch spot in Tempe/entire Valley! Great portions delicious food and happy hour starts at open M-F. You read that right happy hour every day 11-6. Plus it's got great music indoor and outdoor space that's always a good vibe and descent service.
