I usually love ordering pad Thai from here, but my last two experiences have been disappointing due to repeated mistakes with my order. Both times, I requested a specific spice level (either hot or Thai hot), and both times the dish came with no spice at all. It's very noticeable when the spice is missing because the noodles look completely clear instead of a red color from chili. Tonight, they also added peanuts even though I asked for none. We ordered a bunch of dishes to share. The khao soi was really good. The meat was super tender and soaked up the soup so well, very comforting. Next time I'll branch out. This visit my sister & I both ordered the red curry & had the crab wontons as an appetizer. Both were spectacular! The wontons were hot & crispy with the perfect balance of creaminess and fresh (real) crab flavor. We had sake booms as our beverages. Hi I have been here a few times for dinner but came here for lunch. I got my usual which was Thai fried rice and my sister got Thai eggplant with tofu. Mine was delicious. The spicy level I asked for was med, I think I would have liked a bit more but I got the fish sauce which allowed me to add spice. Perfect. It was quite busy but our food came quickly. In a shopping area filled with oriental restaurants, bakeries, drinks, super market and loads of great places. Anyway, back to Thai Spices. Great menu, I had been craving some Panang Curry for weeks, I had been disappointed at other places. Well, Thai Spices finally filled the bill. It was fantastic, loved every bite. The curry was spot on, the vegtables and chicken were perfect. The BEST ! And reasonable, $16 an amount I would gladly pay. I wish they had a place in the West valley as it is a long drive to Mesa. So, bottom line, this is a great place located in an area where it seems like there are a lot of great places. What happened to you? Around 12-15 F years ago when you started this restaurant, you were unsurpassed in your Thai Boat Beef Noodles, tom kha, curries and pad thai. We were away for a few years and when we came back you were one of the first restaurants we patronized. A week ago, i brought two friends for dinner and i never felt so disappointed. The tom kha was sweet like dessert, the rest of the dishes were syrupy dripping sweet AND oily! Seemed like sugar and chillies were your only ingredients. The only thai in your restaurant was the decor. I hope you take this review in the right spirit and restore your restaurant back to its early days. We will try again but if the experience was anything like last week, we will have to move on. read more

Crazy Crab Puffs were completely bland. Thai Fried Rice w/ Shrimp ...Requested no spice, but that shouldn't mean no flavor. Texture was decent, veggies were fresh, and cabbage in fried rice was new and enjoyable. But $19 for bland rice and 6 shrimp screams Diabolical. Thank God I had hoisin sauce at home to save it! The Thai Tea was the only redeeming item, but not enough to bring me back.All in all, this was a $42 disappointment. Won't be returning. Again, found this place thanks to Instagram. Came in for dinner. Same complex as Mekong plaza. Easy to find. Unfortunately I was vegetarian on this day. Decided to try their veggie basil fried rice. Did hit spice level, I felt it was perfect for me, but I'd recommend lowering it if you feel you can't handle too much spice. It was a very large portion and lots of veggies in it as well. Also highly recommend the khao soi. Hope I'm spelling it right. Again portions were quite big. Noodles and fried noodles were great. This one even though we ordered spicy. It was milder in spice. Had a little sweetish flavor maybe coconut milk. But still very good. The place was a nice casual dark theme place. Service was great. So so good! Great portions and friendly service. In the hunt for a Thai place for lunch, I found this lil spot. You know it's good when the corporate bro's are hunkered down for the lunch rush. Security office badges and business casual attire haven't led me astray yet. I tried to get a picture of the chicken satay but we devoted it before I remembered! Just know it was delicious! Ordered a Thai ice tea which I HIGHLY recommend, as long as it's before 3pm or if you want to have the energy of a drink toddler for the night. Everything was delicious! Food tasted very authentic. My friend and I are noodle fiends and these perfectly hit the spot for us. The tom yum noodle was perfectly tangy and the rice noodles were perfectly cooked. It's my first time trying Khaosoi and omg the fragrance from the coconut milk and the beef complement each other so well! The crispy noodle was a cherry on top. Papaya salad is refreshing and seasoned well. Definitely gonna be my go to thai spot now! Service was great and our server was introducing some dishes that are not commonly seen in the usual american thai restaurants. Thai Spices is so good. The massuman curry is very good here and so flavorful. The chicken to potato ratio is generous and on point every time. My second go to would be the traditional pad Thai, because there is something different and delicious about the texture of the noodles here. I love anything Asian and Thai food is like a soul food. When my friends suggested this place, I was the first one to say yes. Located at the corner of Mekong plaza it's easy to find. We were seated immediately and for a Saturday the place didn't have much crowd. Their menu is vast unlike other Thai places. I went with chow mein noodles with chicken. But was so surprised to try a different dish and got the seafood with vegetables and it was a HUGE portion and so exotic it had fresh chilies and raw green peppercorns I've never seen in any dish they way it was served. The flavoring was good, maybe a bit milder than what we were expecting. Bbq pork: 2/5 This dish was way too tough and dry for our liking. The accompanying sauce was also a bit too salty. Khao soi: 4/5 Tasted like how a standard khao soi dish should. The portion size for this dish was very generous for the price, especially with the amount of noodles they give. Maple leaf duck curry: 5/5 The consistency of the curry was good, with an adequate kick of spice. The duck itself was tender and juicy, with crispy skin. Their duck curry has easily moved into my top three duck curries I've tried in Arizona! One notable thing was that our appetizer arrived last, making it feel like an afterthought to our meal instead of an actual starting point before the main course. Overall, the service was friendly but also on the slower side. The ambiance is inviting with lots of on-theme cultural décor and color schemes. I've been so excited to try this spot out. I saw it on IG and couldn't wait to get here. Then I started reading reviews, and was torn because it was either a 5 star or a 1 star experience. Strange...... it must depend who the cook is that day. But our chef was obviously amazing. The food was stupid good. I can't even believe how much my husband and I ate. SO STUFFED!! The Thai tea coffee was delicious Our favorite Thai dish is the massaman curry, and this was definitely the best one we have had in Arizona. Then we tried the signature dish- KHAO SOI... I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We arrived at 9:27 PM, only to be told that the dining room closes at 9:15 PM--something that wasn't clearly stated anywhere. I totally understand that restaurants have closing times, but it was frustrating that we had made the effort to get there, even taking a Lyft, only to be turned away with nowhere to go while waiting for our ride back. Even when explaining the situation to them they were unwilling to compromise at all...Also whenever we go around the restaurant there's always people loitering around and cat calling at me, smoking herb outside the restaurant.... A little more transparency about their hours would go a long way, and maybe some customer service that acknowledges the situation rather than just shutting the door on paying customers. I hope they improve their communication because, as of now, I can't say I'd recommend making the trip unless you're absolutely certain they'll let you in.
