Aesthetic was a modern Thai theme with some nice art work on the walls. Appetizer sampler: 5/5 highly recommend if you're with a group of people so that you could try a variety of their apps. Pad Thai: 2/5 it was very sweet and that was the only thing I could taste, it needed lime or a side of salt to balance out the sweetness. Boat Noodles: 3/5 it was lacking the vinegar, sour taste that I'm used to with boat noodles. Also they added Chinese broccoli" (I think) with it that was different. Pumpkin curry: 5/5 this I would recommend- it was a nice curry, coconut taste and not overly sweet with a nice balance with all the vegetables & meat. Bbq pork: 5/5 this had a nice grilled taste to it and they seasoned the pork perfectly! The side salad that came with it was also amazing! I came here for a double date with our friends because they wanted to try some new Thai food. What better place to go than Mekong Plaza with the variety of restaurants they have in store. Upon entering the restaurant, the ambiance is inviting and calming at the same time. The servers were smiling and very friendly which made the experience that much more pleasant. We decided to get an order of chicken pad Thai and the appetizer sampler. The appetizer sampler was the perfect mix of protein, savory, and fried goodness. My favorite item was the chicken satay with the side of peanut sauce. Yum! The chicken pad Thai was prepped "hot" which was the perfect level of spice for us. Very disappointed that I have to pay with card for ordering over the phone for just 1 item ($15 or so). I placed order over the phone a week ago (higher amount $30 something) and the guy didn't ask for my card. He even told me that only order over $40 need to pay in advance. The Tom Kha soup was to die for, maybe my favorite I've ever had. The pad Thai was decent as well. The fried rice was honestly horrible, but we had asked that they made it a curry fried rice like we've had at many other Thai restaurants and similar to their pineapple fried rice minus the pineapple and other add in's, but theirs was just not good. Just browsing through their beautifully designed menu was making my mouth water. I tried their Khao Soi curry noodles and a Golden Fried Fish Fillet tossed in a tangy, salty, sweet sauce. Their Mango Sticky Rice, topped with decadent ice cream and rich coconut milk, provided the perfect crescendo to a fantastic meal. Everything had vibrant flavors and tasted fresh. This is our go-to Thai place for meeting family on the East side and we always look forward to it. They have all the usual Thai restaurant staples but I was excited to find they also have Khao Soi, which I've only had at one Thai restaurant in Vancouver. It's fantastic and the portions are HUGE so it's easily another lunch or dinner. They also have bubble tea, Thai iced tea and some other fruity drinks my kids loved, and when you ask for not-spicy they can make it perfect for my picky eater ;) Quick efficient service and very nice. I stopped by this place for a quick meal to go. When I walked inside, the food aromas almost knocked me off my feet, because they smelled so good. I ordered the Thai eggplant stir-fry with shrimp and fried tofu and the Thai tea. The service was extremely slow. I requested the Thai tea while I waited at the bar for the food to be prepared. She nodded but then ran around doing other things for several minutes. I finally saw her pouring my tea and got excited, but she left it on the counter as if to tease me! Then she walked back and forth a few times and eventually gave it to me. It was very delicious and seemed to be made from brewed tea rather than the orange mix that some restaurants seem to use. I really loved the flavor combination of the bitter tea combined with the sweet and creamy condensed milk. The restaurant was nice inside with a fun ambiance that would make it good for dining in. The food was not ready for a very long time. I noticed about 8-10 tickets taped to the bar under the window to the kitchen. They seemed understaffed for a Friday night. I watched with anticipation as each order was placed on the counter, but most were for other customers. I saw a colorful stir fry dish appear, and then the waitress at the bar loudly yelled out, "No, to go! To go! To go!" I figured that was mine. After a few minutes, the waitress abruptly dropped it in from of me and then quickly turned her back so I was unable to ask for anything else. I just got up and left and went to my trust. I opened it and started eating in my truck and quickly found that the food was so delightfully delicious that I was unable to stop. I loved that the eggplant dish was servicer with a wide variety of other vegetables as well as the eggplant, tofu, and shrimp that I had ordered. The sauce was delightfully sweet and tasty. We ordered the Tom yum hotpot for appetizer, and pad Thai/ beef eggplant/ cashew chicken as entrees. Pad Thai was good in taste, yet a little pale and mild in taste. The eggplant beef was good, yet the eggplant had a tough skin that was somewhat inedible (maybe old?). The cashew chicken stir fry had actually fried chicken pieces, not the usual stir fry we are used to. The pad thai was off, little to no flavor, they forgot to put egg in the dish and the shrimp had an odd taste. Although it is very accessible in the Mekong Plaza on Dobson just south of University, on our super stressful days we order it for delivery. The meals are consistently good, huge delivery portions and lots of choices and we order twice a month for delivery. Occasionally we also eat in the restaurant. After seeing the reviews and pictures of all of the food I was really excited to try this place, but I actually felt a bit disappointed with the flavors and prices of the food. I don't understand why the Buddha Gyoza was so expensive. It's identical to normal gyoza except the ends of the dumplings are pinched together. The dipping sauce for these was also pretty strong. The drunken noodles weren't very flavorful, and the calamari was soggy (however that's probably because it was a take out order). The portion sizes were large, which was nice, but all in all, I probably would try a different restaurant closer to home. Too overpriced for what you get. read more

I was recommended by a few people throughout the year to try this place out. A friend and I came in on a Tuesday afternoon. There were maybe four other tables besides us and two servers. It took us from beginning to end, TWO FREAKING HOURS to eat and get our check, for LUNCH. Holy moly! Our server wasn't attentive at all, while also rushing us in the beginning. Our food came at a decent time and it was a nice portion size for lunch. My daughter and I got the BBQ pork ( it was pretty dry) great flavor, and a shrimp pad thai, big portion. My friend got some type of dish with fish, he enjoyed it. Then my daughter and I ended with mango sticky rice, which they forgot to put in. Our to go order was messed up and we ended up getting something a bit different. Our server disappeared so we had to get the attention of the second older server that was working. They split our check wrong and it took them about 15 minutes to print it, then another 15 to fix it. We ended up spending so much time here that we didn't have time to go grocery shopping. Came here during a very busy dinner time, they had a wait because of social distancing. The staff was very accommodating & professional. The panning Curry lived up to my expectations and I enjoyed it very much. They have a lot of vegetarian options. We also had orange chicken which was as expected.
