I am always on a quest to find the most delicious pho noodle soups in Arizona. During a quick search online, I came across this Vietnamese restaurant and was immediately intrigued by the name: Pho Number One. The ratings and reviews were satisfactory, and since they proclaim themselves to be "Number One," it has to be good, right? We stopped by on a Sunday, and thankfully, it was not too busy. We grabbed a table facing the TV so we could enjoy some pho while watching the game. We ordered three different noodle soups: Seafood noodle soup with squid, shrimp, and fish balls Pho noodle soup with round-eye steak and meatballs Vietnamese shrimp noodle soup with ground pork, dried shrimp, crab paste, tomatoes, pork loaf, fried tofu, and pork blood cubes Overall, the noodle soups were pretty decent. Our food came out fairly quickly, and everything was steaming hot, which is always a plus. The broths were flavorful, and I thought the ratio of protein to noodles was just right. Each bowl had a good amount of toppings without feeling like it was all noodles and no substance. My biggest complaint, though, is the oil floating on top of the broth. They really need to skim that layer off before serving. When you are slurping your pho and end up with a spoonful of oil touching your lips, it is definitely not the most appetizing experience. A little skimming would make a noticeable difference. Final verdict: Is it the Number One pho restaurant in Arizona? No. Would I come back and eat here again? Yes. Was on the list for dirty dining this week with 4 violations. We've ordered from here a ton! But this last time I picked up, I noticed a gentlemen wiping the tables but not the chairs which were so gross with packed up dust and food on the back parts which led me to actually look around the place and pretty sure it never gets a good clean. My wife's stomach hurt today from it, so I was absolutely NOT surprised when they were on the dirty dining list. YUCK! Never again :( read more

They didn't skimp out on the meats, tendons and tripe in my dish either. With the bean sprouts and herbs added, it hit the spot and was the right kind of comforting food I want from a bowl of pho. The beef rib was tender and delicious too. They pre-mix their Vietnamese iced coffee buy it was strong and sweet just like you'd expect. Probably why I had a hard time sleeping lol. It appears all the dishes have been excellent to date, nonetheless at the core of it all is the Phở. My favorite Phở Tai Nam is delectable. I haven't had pho in over 10 years. It was definitely time to try it again. Phenomenal. Just amazing. Why did I wait so many years to have pho again? This place offers a full on coconut as a drink. They bring out the coconut with a hole on the top to consume the drink AND eat the coconut filling. I guess this was a young coconut so the nut part was all soft and creamy and amazingly delicious. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Neef Noodle) and Bò Lá Lốt và Heo Nướng Cuốn Bánh Tráng (Grilled Beef Wrapped with Betel Leaf and Grilled Pork) to go. The Bun Bo hue was flavorful with a slight hint of spice and had a generous amount of brisket. I definitely recommend the Bun Boe Hue. The Bò Lá Lốt và Heo Nướng Cuốn Bánh Tráng was also good. The meet was very flavorful and they also have Mắm Nêm (dipping sauce made with fermented fish) which was a little sweet for my taste, but if you added a little bit of lime and chili paste made it delicious! The service was quick and fast! I called in ahead of time and placed my order and by the time I arrived it was already. They also have a fridge full of vietnamsss desserts and pickled papaya and cabage to take home. I am looking forward to try the next time I am in. We got their egg rolls, rice with grilled chicken, vegetable pho and beef short rib pho. Their egg rolls were not oily like most places and the lettuce that they give you to wrap were nice and fresh.
