No frills, quick service, and large portions. My friend and I got the Noodle Soup Number 1 ($13.99) and although I was a little surprised by the price, I was pleasantly surprised with the resulting bowl I got. It's a large bowl of pho nested with a HUMONGOUS short rib nestled. Plenty of meat (meatballs, tripe, etc), and a good balance of broth/noodles. Broth itself was good - I like taking any leftover soup home since it's quite time-consuming to replicate in my own kitchen and make some makeshift pho. I called in an order for beef spring rolls and tofu spring rolls. When I arrived, I received beef and shrimp spring rolls. No big deal, I brought them back in and waited for my tofu spring rolls. When I got home and took a bite, my tofu spring rolls were full of mint...which isn't an ingredient listed for spring rolls. I feel like it was purposely added because they had to remake my rolls. Somewhat light but flavorful, so you won't feel overwhelmed throughout the eating process. Beef was ok, average quantity. Noodles was just fine was well. They did increase their pho prices compare to google map pictures. Pricing wise, on the more expensive side. Just a tad more expensive then what I would like, but pho was decent that if you're craving pho late at night. Coming here isn't so bad. Update on the restroom. Looked pretty clean on my visit. Local Pho restaurant....we have been in a few times. It's pretty typical, though they do have plenty of other choices if you are not in the mood for pho. We've only ever ordered pho, which is good with the fresh veggies and plenty of bean sprouts and basil. Service is very quick even when the place is busy. Been here 4 times in the past 4 months and still haven't had their pho. I got their special salad ("goi dac biet") my first time and I haven't wanted anything else. Really flavorful, fresh, and a substantial amount that allows me to be really full and then have some left to snack on later. I'm Vietnamese and from San Jose where there a lots of amazing Vietnamese restaurants, but this is the only place I've seen a Viet salad like this. When my mom visits me, I'll have to show her because it's that great. I will say they don't put a consistent amount of meat and mango and it's less meat than I'd like. The flavor and textures make up for it. Also, they got awesome Vietnamese desserts, like da ua (traditional yogurt. sweet and very tart.) and suong sam (green jelly from a plant called Tiliacora triandra that they also provide you simple syrup and sweet milk with). So it's a place that advertises its pho as #1, but also offers Thai and Chinese food? Interesting. Stepped in here for a dinner with some lovely ladies. Forget ladies who lunch, it's all about divas who dine! The menu is quite extensive with some good vegetarian options. I was going to go for a vermicelli dish but I spied a dish with ginger (Ginger bean) and I love that spicy rhizome! I also got a young coconut to drink. Their "young" coconut is like one of those people who says she is 29 years old each year on her birthday when she's actually 50+. It was actually quite mature when I opened it up! That didn't distract from the tasty refreshing coconut juice inside but it did make it hard to scoop the coconut meat out with the spoon provided since not as much of it was tender. The ginger bean delivered as promised: It had a fair amount of ginger and black beans! I enjoyed the fresh veggies in it, but didn't care for the mushrooms which tasted canned. I had the dish with shrimp but you can also opt for tofu, chicken, or pork. The shrimp were nicely cooked, plump and tender. Although for the most part I liked the ingredients, I didn't really enjoy the sauce which skewed too sweet tasting for me. Service was somewhat lethargic. It took a while for the server to come by to take our orders. Checks were easily split and delivered to our table though and we did get a refill on water. I should've known better than to get a Thai sounding dish at a restaurant that has pho in the name. If I come back next time I'll definitely try something more Vietnamese like the pho or a vermicelli dish. read more

Gracious server found me a table for our party. I was half an hour early, but it didn't seem to faze her as I sipped on my water studying the menu. I decided to try to the Bun Rieu (I hope I spelt that right). I had intended to order pho, but I decided to be adventurous because they had pork blood cubes. I must have been low in iron because I don't usually crave this. The last time I had pork blood cubes was in my childhood in Singapore. Anyway, I enjoyed the broth with was a slow-cooked stock. I liked the fried tofu. The pork blood cubes was okay. The crab and pork was visually unappealing. They were obvious large slices from a frozen roll. Pho is my all time favorite food group (yes, I eat pho so much its a food group for me) and major comfort food. I ordered takeout of their Noodle Soup No 1 that includes 1 beef short rib and an assortment of the usual pho meat (meatballs, brisket, tendon, tripe, and raw thin sliced steak). Holy beef rib! I don't think I can eat pho without a giant beef rib in there anymore! The broth was very flavorful and the noodles were packaged perfectly out of the soup so it would not be soggy while we were picking up our order. Normally I don't like the meatballs as much, but wowow the meatballs were delicious! The other meat additions were also yummy, but not life changing like the rib and meatballs. I will defintiely definitely be back to eat the fresh pho in person when I feel more comfortable! Very happy with this find! read more

This used to be my favorite go to spot for a bowl of pho. Recently I've had multiple bad experiences. The quality of beef when ordering the thin cut has been very tough and chewy. This has been two times with dining in and carry out. Wondering if they changed vendors or their vendor just changed quality. Also went in one day and the AC was apparently not working or they did not have it on we sat down and probably decided to leave. Please bring back what this place used to be. read more

Food was okay, at best. Service and the stank attitude of the employees earned this one star rating, coupled with the dirty interior. We arrived at 8pm, group of 4, one hour before closing. We were rushed and glared at by the staff the entire time. The one female worker was sitting on a chair behind the counter most of the time with her feet partially inside of her shoes , at other times she slithered around the restaurant with a scowl on her face ..... that is a perfect illustration of the experience overall. Tragic and unprofessional. Far too many great Vietnamese establishments in this town to tolerate such awful service and inferior food quality. I don't recommend and won't be back. So I smoke a lot of food, And when I think beef ribs, I think of smoked Dino plate ribs, but I tried the number 16 beef rib pho today and I was blown away by the meat and the combo with rich pho broth, Sriracha and hoisin. This was one of my favorite pho combos I've ever tried! They have they number one which had the traditional meats and treats from a dac biet, and a single beef rib Also. That has to be my next order! I had to jump to review this place, Once you enter you need to find your own table, no one greets you. I strongly agree with other reviews, the owners...specially the wife are so inattentive, it's like they are doing you a favor... i mean they should be the ones who care about having business right? Well maybe they feel so confident with the actual clients. The food is just meh...lack of flavor actually I'm not planning to come again, my husband agrees, even about the owners wife... I ordered a vermicelli plate combination (pork and shrimp) 2 shrimps, very thin pork slices and LOTS of vermicelli and I mean it...LOTS. One thing that I usually like from this plate (when I order in other restaurants) is the fresh tasty combination of the herbs, vegetables, meat and the vermicelli. Disappointingly that was not the case here, the amount of herbs and vegetables was minimal, again it had LOTS of vermicelli. So I will NOT RECOMMEND you to order it. The bathroom is dirty and haven't been cleaned in a while... The owners kids are around jumping on the chairs and stepping on top of the tables without being told anything...so I would suggest to ask them to clean again your table once you sit down, or bring your own wipes. Also be careful, there's one area between the tables once you enter the restaurant with a "hole" on the floor that is covered now with a piece of a cardboard box...but still you can get injured if you don't notice. read more

It definitely hit the spot. I haven't been in the mood for Pho ever since my favorite spot changed ownership (and recipes). It was a rather wet day and the beau was feeling under the weather. Ever since I turned him on to the dish he has obtained the same craving for it that I used to have. So, well decided to find a place sort of close to home. I ordered the veggie Pho which I know isn't really traditional but I love me some veggies. This was certainly one of the better veggie pho that I have had. This is undoubtedly the best pho restaurant in Mesa, Arizona. The pho broth is better than my father's. I like it when pho broth tastes good by itself. That is when I don't have to add anything to the broth to change it to my liking (for example, dousing the broth with siracha and hoisin sauce or lime). Although, occasionally put a bit of lime in the broth if I feel like it and siracha, respectively. My favorite pho order is, of course, the pho dac biet with the beef short rib. The rib is so tender, that the meat just peels off effortlessly. Another favorite dish of mine from this place, is the Com Bo Luc Lac, which is Shaken beef with rice. Its essentially just stir fried beef with bell peppers, onions, and served with vegetables. Suprisingly, it also came with french fries which were crunchy. This place also has thai food as well which I would have to try in the near future. I will always be willing driving the extra mile for a good bowl of pho because I don't know many excellent pho restaurants in the Chandler area...So don't spend your money for pho anywhere else but here.
