One of the best Thai food spots in the area! We've been coming here on and off for a while, and my experience have definitely varied - but I wanted to update my review after my most recent visit. The last time I ordered takeout, things were just okay. The food didn't quite hit the mark like it had before, and I left feeling a little underwhelmed. Because of that, we decided not to order from here for a while. But we decided to give it another shot a couple of days ago and ordered takeout - and I'm really glad we did! The Pad Thai was FANTASTIC! The flavors were on point, portions were very generous (one order would have been enough for my husband and I but we loved the leftovers). And my order was accurate and ready on time. It honestly reminded me why I liked this place in the first place! Not sure if it was just an off night before, but this experience totally turned things around for me. I'll definitely be coming back again - especially for takeout! read more

I ordered take out for lunch today and I really enjoyed it. Their lunch specials are affordable and they still give large portions. They also provide an egg roll. I believe you also get a side salad if you're ordering in. The total was $10! I also appreciate the option to make many of the options here vegetarian by subbing the meat for tofu or vegetables. I got the drunken noodles and thought they were very yummy. I think I would have preferred it a bit more salty, but I do think the dish itself was delicious. My experience with the service was brief but very positive. The woman I spoke to was kind and very efficient. My whole interaction in the restaurant was less than 5 minutes. We stumbled across this place and decided to dine here for a late lunch. Like most Thai restaurants, they close from 3-5pm each day and we arrived at 2:37pm on a Thursday. We asked if it was okay to dine in and the lady was visibly upset as it was near closing. We informed her we wouldn't be long, but she still had an attitude about it. The inside is very small and offers a handful of tables. For lunch we had the drunken noodles and pad thai which was served with a garden salad. The salad was delicious and the dressing offered a spicy touch which we loved! Both the pad Thai & drunken noodles were excellent as well. Portions are fair and pricing is good. Even though we were given the cold shoulder and the lady could've had a better attitude, we will still come back because the food is good! I LOVE Soda Bun Thai! Everything we have tried there has been absolutely delicious. There is also such a cozy atmosphere with pictures of their customers on the walls and the service is great. My fav is the Chicken Pad Thai, but let me tell you, DON'T skip out on the apps! The KC Rolls rock my socks every time! And the Calamari sticks are also fantastic. This Thai restaurant is so good and one of my favorites in the east valley. Great noodles and also great curry especially green! One of my favorite signature dishes is a crispy fish alongside green curry with eggplant and other veggies with rice noodles. It is superb! Their thai iced tea is so good with the spicy curry too. The interior is cute and small, homey and lovely. Recently in a rush, I thought I had placed an order for pick up but I never submitted it. It was a funny situation, so I put the order in right. The woman at the front was so kind and warm, offered me water while I waited and also gave me complimentary Thai iced tea to go-- even though it was my mistake for not submitting my order. Great value Thai spot - huge portions! I'm living alone right now and 2 entrees & a dessert was 4 meals for me. I ordered online for 11am pick up but it wasn't ready until about 11:12am, maybe because they open exact at 11am. Maybe they should let the earliest scheduled time be 11:15am for clear expectations. The restaurant is relatively small with a few tables and casual environment - I'm not sure if they have a bathroom, didn't see any signs. As for the food, it was pretty good for the price but I wasn't blown away. Got the pad thai with chicken, penang curry with tofu, and mango sticky rice. The pad thai was not bad but it was mostly noodles, wish it had some more toppings. Very filling though. The penang curry with tofu was flavorful and I could really taste the lime leaves. Tofu was very tender and delicious. It came with a take out box of rice. The mango sticky rice was good - mango nice and sweet, perfectly ripened. I do wish there was more coconut milk added, it was a little dry. But still good! Might become my local Thai spot for affordable and filling take out. read more

This hole in the wall Thai restaurant has been a spot i have consistently gone to at least once a month for the last 5+ years. Food is always fresh, consistent and can't forget to mention authentic. Best place to get curry (every one is delicious) and Tom Kha Gai soup. I will forever support this lovely place. Update: Got takeout last night and did notice that the large Tom Kha Gai soups container is only filled half way, which is new. Normally the large is filled to the top. The pad Thai here is delicious -- balanced without being too sweet or spicy. The eggrolls are also a favorite. It's a small, cute restaurant with just a few tables, but the food and prices are great. Fast service. Only downside: they're closed on Sundays, so plan ahead. read more

This is my children's favorite restaurant. If they could they would eat here 4 or 5 times a week. We are pretty consistently here twice a month or more which says a lot for a family of 6, we don't eat out a ton in a month but half of those times are here. Went back and tried to add comments and pics and ended up deleting the review After going to this place twice... I came to conclusion that this is one of my fav mom and pop Thai restaurant. Nice clean little place and food is really good.. Only complaint is that some of the portions are on the small side.. I first ordered drunken noodle which by far best one I've ever had. Finally got to try the cury which was really good. Crazy noodle also really good similar style to pad Thai. Can't wait to come back and try some other dishes.. This place is by my house and I wasn't super impressed by the outside. I ordered mango sticky rice online and came to pick it up 30 min later. The inside is small but smells really good. I would probably not dine-in. It was packed (Saturday night) and I picked up my order at the counter. After tip it was $12. WORTH IT. The mango sticky rice was fantastic. It was a very satisfying dessert. I haven't tried the other menu items, but it looks like Soda Bun is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Amazing food - so tasty and authentic! Very aromatic (and a tad spicy) red curry and also the best fresh veggie rolls and homemade tasting dipping peanut sauce. I usually do not get Thai tea, but there was a Yelp offer for free Thai iced tea with entree order. The tea tasted clean and refreshing, perfect for a hot AZ summer. I came in for a quick dinner option, I ordered the chicken satay, and the beef pad thai, medium hot. I didn't really like the seasoning of the chicken satay. The peanut dipping sauce was really good. The pad thai was actually the level of spice I requested. It wasn't too bad flavorwise, I wish I had more beef pieces. The waitress was very attentive throughout our dining experience. When we picked up the kids on Thursday they were on the edge of a hangry melt down. It was hot, school was out and they were on some psyco kid stuff! La Ericka was coming from Chandler and I was coming from South Tempe so Soda Bun Thai Food was in direct crossing point for us. When we entered we were greeted by a friendly woman. I always try speaking Thai when I go eat at Thai places in honor of my time in Thailand when i was known as Ryan of Phra Khanong. "Sawatdee khrap! " I announced and she replied "kha!" As by routine I ordered Spicy Tom yum Goong (lemon grass and mushroom soup shrimp) and Som Tom Pbu (green papaya salad fermented crab). She learned me on my pronunciations. To my surprise, the had the fermented crab! No other restaurant I've asked for it in Az has had it! IMAGINE. MY. EXCITEMENT. I also tried some spring rolls, deep fried tofu in sweet sour sauce and got rice and noodles for the kids. Holy Moly!! This place is absolutely dynamite! Yum. Delicious. Amazing, and all that. We placed our to-go order and it was ready pronto. The smell inside this place is so tantalizing, we couldn't wait to get our order home. The fresh rolls were absolutely the freshest! The peanut sauce with the fresh rolls was peanutty and a tad spicy - just perfect for a bite sized salad. And oh, there was enough for 3-4 people to split the fresh rolls! Our main dishes - mine was the pad-see-ew with crispy tofu and the noodles were spectacular. Flavorful, with the perfect amount of spice and vegetables and seasonings! First of all, I just have to say... this vibe.. PHENOMENAL. The atmosphere is such a little whole in the wall, yet filled with absolute joy! They have pictures of all their patrons lined up, which really shows how happy they are. The wings are amazing, Tom Yum is AUTHENTIC and slaps (especially with the spice). Now the Tom Kha Gai was OFF THE CHAIN. So good, if you love coconut based soups I highly recommend. Even the Thai iced tea was wonderful. This place is also budget friendly, and makes a wonderful place for a date night if you're trying to save. Definitely will be coming back, I usually am hesitant with trying new places. A month late in posting, yet I am happy to confirm Soda Bun remains a 5-star place to eat. Their food presentation is still amazing, the food continually comes out with steam rolling off it, and the serving size remains to be large. Everything is well worth the money. The only item that has changed from my previous visits is the amount of people that were in the restaurant. All previous visits we were the only two or three people dining in. This last visit (late October, Saturday, approximately 4:30), I was flabbergasted at the amount of diners -- when we left there had been a dozen other patrons. Maybe people are becoming less fearful of the whole Covid B.S. but whatever was happening, it was nice to see so many more people enjoying Soda Bun. There were still quite a few people coming in to pick up take out, too. Soda Bun is great place to enjoy Thai! read more
