I expected the restaurant to be busy during lunch time, but I certainly did not expect how small it is. It felt crammed inside, but no big deal. Parking was also tricky. It's pretty limited, so I had to park a bit further away. In terms of food and service, Thai Basil did a great job. Our server was very patient while we figured out what to order. I went for the Chicken Pad Thai and stuck with water as my drink. I was pleasantly surprised when the food started coming out because I expected it to take longer. I'd say it took about 15 minutes, even during lunch rush. My Chicken Pad Thai was delicious. The serving size was good and it came with a spring roll on the side. The price isn't bad at all either. Had high hopes for this place, but my first experience was very disappointing. I had just landed from Los Angeles and was too tired to go far, so I chose this restaurant because Yelp showed it was open late. Parking was easy, but unfortunately the service was the worst part of the visit. I sat down to look at the menu and place a to-go order, only to be told to move to another seat. A simple order of pad thai and spring rolls took exactly 42 minutes. After several follow-ups, no one told me the food was ready until I walked up to the counter myself. I was with friends visiting Tempe and one of my friends suggest that we check out Thai Basel. It's in a nice area next to a lot of other shops and restaurants when you walk in. It's a small but nice venue. The staff was very friendly and gave us recommendations when we asked what to order. I chose the pad Thai with beef as the protein. It was so flavorful and delicious. We got some spring rolls and the mango salad as an appetizer to share which also didn't disappoint. There were a few people in there when we arrived and it was pretty quiet, but as they say when everyone is quiet at dinner, that's how you know the food is great. read more

I ordered the Tom Yum, and unfortunately it tasted like the seafood had just been thawed and added straight into a watered-down broth. It was missing that classic lemongrass punch, savory depth, and spicy balance Tom Yum is known for. The soup also had a noticeably sweet taste, which is unusual for this dish, and there were no clams something I'm used to seeing in a good Tom Yum. The spice level was perfect since I asked for it "hot," but the broth itself lacked flavor, and the seafood tasted very clearly frozen. The curry was tasty, but definitely on the sweeter side almost too sweet. On a brighter note, the Thai iced tea was delicious. It had that classic sweet, creamy flavor Thai tea is known for, and you could taste all the layers. I genuinely enjoyed that part of the meal. My friends and I decided to order take out lunch from here, since one of them comes here frequently and enjoys it! Our food was ready within the specified time, and was still warm when we got back to work (a 20 minute drive at least). The people working were all very polite and helpful. I would definitely come back here based off of how nice these people were. It didn't seem like there was a huge lunch rush when I arrived to pick up around 1245p. Plenty of tables available and a very clean looking dining room. I ordered the pad Thai and it was great! The portion size was also pretty generous, enough for 2 meals. My impression of Thai Basil is relatively good due to the warm hospitality from my takeout order. The main sever greeted me and asked if I knew what I wanted already. I was looking for Pad Kra Pow but didn't see it on the menu. Turns out it's the signature "Thai Basil" on the menu. I was a little disappointed when I saw carrots and broccoli as it took a little bit away from the authentic taste. Also, no fried egg :( . The Thai spice and flavor was still present so it paired nicely with the generous potion for jasmine rice. Indoor decor of the restaurant definitely gives Thai vibes and a comfortable feel. I was in Phoenix for a few days for a business trip and was excited to try the different restaurants out in Phoenix! My group and I decided we were feeling Thai and tried out Thai Basil to satisfy that craving! Although we were not able to place a reservation, the restaurant was able to accommodate our rather large group without much wait. It was fairly busy inside, given it was a weekday night. The menu has a good variety of different options for a variety of palettes, but I personally tried the garlic eggplant and the pad thai, both with chicken and medium spicy. For the garlic eggplant, it was good, but nothing particularly stood out. I like to try this dish at different Thai restaurants to compare, so this was middle of the road for me. I always love sautéed eggplant though! The rice was served warm and fluffy, and the eggplant was soaked in that delicious basil sauce. Meanwhile, the pad thai was probably my favorite part of the night. It was surprisingly much spicier than the garlic eggplant, even though both were ordered at medium spicy levels. So, that's definitely something to be aware of in case you can't eat spicy. I find that there's much more variety in pad thai dishes across restaurants, but the way this dish was prepared was very much to my liking. The noodles were coated with flavor, but not too wet and not too dry (the leftovers, however, did become dry so I would try to eat on the night of!). I also really recommend adding at least some spice to it because it really gives it an extra kick. Someone in our group had an allergy to nuts, but they were still able to eat because the restaurant successfully ensured that his dish did not get contaminated with any peanuts! Came here after realizing our favorite place closed down. Good thing is, this is the new GO TO! Wow, they were fast, happy to help, and the food was delicious. They have a bunch of four tops and a set of booth seats on the side and they also do a lot of takeaway. We arrived around 7:15 and needed to be quick. Good thing they were speedy. Thai food has become a favorite cuisine for "mom-daughter" meals lately and this evening was no exception... We came back from a weekend of travel (a soccer tournament in Las Vegas) exhausted and hungry... When I suggested "Thai food for dinner?" to my daughter, she happily obliged. I was tired from the long drive back so was super pleased to see that Thai Basil had a delivery option from Yelp / Grubhub. Yes, I likely paid a lot more for it, but it was worth it... Within 45 mins of ordering, we had a delicious meal delivered to our door. I over ordered knowing that my husband would likely dig in also and/or that we would enjoy leftovers tomorrow. Everything we ordered was a hit: fresh rolls with shrimp, the Thai Basil signature dish with Tofu, Eggplant with Shrimp, and Silver Noodle (Pad Woon Sen) with Chicken. All medium spice level, which was not too spicey at all... I found serving sizes to be large (vs what some previous reviewers thought). Love their food. Everything we ate was super tasty from the shrimp pad see ewe to the red and green curries plus the purple sweet sticky rice with mango. The noodles had nice texture and not too salty with right amount of deveined shrimp. All of the curries had an assortment of fresh vegetable that were cooked just right, not overcooked still had some crispiness but not too much. It was perfect. Both the red and green curry had the right creaminess but not too overpowering and yes if you like spicy they can make that. However, I can only do mild. We enjoyed all including the purple sticky rice with sweet mango. The staff were very nice and friendly. As soon as we sat down we had water and food was served hot and fresh. The food was delivered so it couldn't be sent back. there was no seasoning even though I ordered medium hot. there was no other seasoning. if I had ordered in house, it would not have been accepted. but, with a few small modifications, the food was actually quite tasty and well prepared. I would add that lite seasoning is appropriate for sea food. most sea food is too delicate for heavy swpeasoning. This is a fairly basic restaurant focused on takeout but also dine in. The service is super friendly and the ambiance is fine. I got the duck curry. The flavors were fantastic -- everything except the duck itself was awesome. The duck felt like an afterthought and didn't seem to be blended in with the other flavors. Went here with my boyfriend on December 30, I was in town for a New Years Eve party. I wanted a Thai iced tea so we decided to stop in here on my way to the hotel. Out came the tallest Thai iced tea I have ever seen. I even took a picture of it. It was very good but not too sweet. For food I ordered the green curry with shrimp mild spice. It was very very delicious over the rice, not much spice at all. Sometimes these places say mild, but there is still a spicy hot tinge to the food, but not here. it was perfect. They brought out so much food I had enough for a whole other meal so I got half of it to go. Later that night at the hotel I ate the rest at room temperature and it was almost even better than it was freshly hot. I recommend this place. read more
