Only had to wait 13 minutes so not inconvenient. I ordered my go-to: drunken noodles with tofu, spice level 4/5 and an order of crab wontons. The appetizer was tasty and a nice balance to my spicy dish. I like the sweet and sour sauce that comes with it. My dish tasted great and was definitely spicy. The Thai fried chicken was crispy and flavorful (8/10), while the Pad See Yew was just average for me (5/10). Found this place on social media and glad I checked it out! The food here is pretty delicious! The papaya salad was refreshing and light. The skewers in the second dish were a bit chewy but the flavor was really good. I always love to order the stir fried glass noodles and this one was really tasty! Not sure if people usually use teriyaki sauce in their glass noodle dish. I personally like it because the noodles were more flavorful in this combination. It's 3 weeks later, and I vowed to return to this restaurant because it has quickly become one of my favorites. So yesterday I had to have a quick outpatient procedure and since I had to fast the day before I was famished to to say the least on my way home. So I asked my wife to drive me by "Sala Thai" and as we were en route I placed my order. My first dish here was the "green curry chicken" which was amazing. My wife ordered the crab fried rice, no protein option with no exceptions on this fried rice dish like the others on the menu, however, I enjoyed it so much that this is what I ordered to take home. I also ordered a side of garlic fried chicken. So we arrived on time and pickup was smooth and the food was ready. We only live moments away so the food was sill rather warm once we got home. First off, let's start with the chicken. The wings were a very nice size and plump. They were seasoned very well and was served with some type of sauce that had I knew prior I would have ordered 2 more of those sauces on the side. The garlic flavor was just the right amount. It was Hittin. However, there is a caveat to my review. I loved my crab fried rice. BUT. This is the most expensive fried rice dish on the menu, $28.00. My issue is the difference in proportion size, dine in vs take out. When we dined in the portion size was huge, 3 times the size of my take out portion. The portion size itself coupled with the flavor of the dish are the two main reasons that I was willing to pay $28 for a fried rice dish, because as you know in comparison to any fried rice dishes anywhere this is a big stretch in price for a fried rice dish but one that I was willing to pay. So to say in a nutshell I was taken back at the portion that I received. I still enjoyed the dish and my wings but my bill was $51.73. Needless to say I could have eaten Thai at H-mart for half the price for a fried rice dish. Do they have crab fried rice? I'm not sure, but I just want to make a point. I spent $51.73 on a meal just for myself and I was still hungry after consuming my entire meal, and I am not a big meal eater. The amount I received "dining in" should matched the amount for "take out." And to me it's easier for the restaurant for take out because they don't have to refill drinks and keep checking on me etc. Easy peasy, right? I should have received "two containers full" of the crab fried rice to equal the dine in amount. Is that too much to ask for a $28 fried rice dish??? And Sala you know it. Cmon... Again, I enjoyed my food but I was STILL hungry. read more

Sala Thai may be our new favorite Thai place! The online ordering wasn't working (maybe because it was within an hour of closing) so we placed our order via phone. We ordered the chicken potstickers ($7 for 6), Pad Kee Mow with Beef ($16 +$2 extra for beef= $18), and Chicken Panang Curry ($17). We ordered the Pad Kee Mow and Curry at level 4 Spicy (Spice level 1-5 or Thai hot). The Chicken Potstickers were standard potstickers; not sure whether they are made in house or are frozen. They were on the crispier (almost burnt) side. The Chicken Panang Curry was on par with our favorite Thai place. Spice level 4 left a spicy aftertaste but it wasn't so spicy that it overpowered the taste. I think it was a good level! We were especially impressed with the Pad Kee Mow and the wok hay. The extra $2 on beef is worth it, as they use a nice, tenderized cut, higher quality than most! It did reheat a bit oily the next day, but still delicious! Looking forward to trying more things on the menu! read more

However a table gets seated right next to us at around 10ish and order the Khao Soi and the waitress orders it. I'm confused because I was told they ran out but a table 30 minutes later orders it with no issue. I bring the waitress back over and ask if they still have the Khao Soi, she says Yes do you want me to add it to your order? I go yes! Earlier you guys said you ran out of it and the waitress then scuffs and goes oh you're right we our out but I thought you meant do we still have it on the menu. Now I'm really confused. And I'm waiting to see if the person's Khao Soi gets canceled low and behold 10 minutes later a Khao Soi comes out. Now I'm pissed. Writing this review after months and completely regretting why it slipped out of my mind to write up! Oh well, visited this place late december on a lazy sunday. Perfect time to visit as it wasnt too crowded. But, must i say the place is CUTE! Doesnt seem to have too much seating maybe capacity of 20ish.. but its comfy i might add. This is by far THE BEST thai restaurent I have visited. The servers and owner are so humble and recommended the perfect dishes. Portion sizes def do justice, but the taste, oh my! The Thai Fried Chicken was amazing, as was the khao soi (curried noodles) and the spicy basil leaves with fried egg. Our server made recommendations for us (at our request) and she did a great job in highlighting some of the awesome dishes here. We had 3 dishes (they aren't huge which is good) and we still had leftovers for 2 of them! A nice tasty snack for later. Also a must mention is that this place is BYO! This Thai restaurant is small and in a strip mall and you would never expect it to be the most amazing Thai food ever!! The Thai grilled beef salad is fantastic. The dressing is zingy and so fresh, even with the spice level of three it packs a little chili pepper punch. I really like the flavor of cilantro and lime, and the salad dressing is packed with both. My friend and I also shared Panang Curry with chicken. The sauce (not overly creamy) is slightly sweet and nutty. This came with some vegetables and a few large pieces of broccoli, all served with a side of white rice. The restaurant is small and only one server managed everything beautifully (except we had to ask for the check). The food is delicious definitely worth trying. read more

I came here for my birthday today, and everything was honestly so good! I got the yellow curry and it was delicious -- super flavorful, and I loved that you can choose your spice level. I also got to try the papaya salad, which was really fresh and tasty; it didn't have that fishy flavor that some places can have. The pad thai noodles were great too, and the chicken dish we ordered was cooked perfectly. To top it all off, they surprised me with ice cream for my birthday, which was such a sweet touch. I honestly do not want to share this intimate place because the food was a surprising delight. This hidden gem has other locations but has been in Tempe for a little over a year. Warning: The seating area is very limited and close. There is a table for 6 in the middle amd seating for 8-10 on one wall and 8 on the other wall. The menu pictures are great and accurate representations of the dishes. The chef is a master as the food was fire. The dishes were aesthetically pleasing and delicious. I saw it had great reviews and can add my own. Service was great and the waitress did a great job. 2nd warning: The spice levels are accurate for Thai food. I usually order a 3 because if it is accurate, I am still ok. I can handle decent spice. Most places a 3 is mid, or not spicy. You also pay $.50 for Thai hot and I think you are brave or stupid because you will get burned twice. I had drunken noodles and appreciated that the vegetables were julienned and that there was not only large green peppers accompanying the noodles. The dish was delicious and cooked correctly. The others in the party ordered yellow curry, curry noodles, Pad Thai and chicken Satay. I got to try them but honestly, I was full from my own and just want an excuse to go back to try some street food dishes. We also ordered 3 orders of crispy roti and the coconut ice cream was incredible. I could have eaten a gallon of the ice cream alone. Stopped by Sala Thai to try out their pad Thai. Having visited during the middle of the week, the restaurant was not busy. However, this location is definitely on the smaller side -- There's about 8 tables. Despite the restaurant being small, the service was quick, our food came out quick, and it was delicious. We ordered fresh shrimp spring rolls, chicken pad thai, and khao soi. The shrimp spring rolls were refreshing and the khao soi had amazing flavor. I've been to Sala Thai a few times now and every visit just confirms why it's one of my favorite spots. The food is consistently excellent my go-to dishes are the tom yum, their rich curries, drunken noodles, and the crab omelette. Everything always tastes fresh and well-prepared. The staff and owners are incredibly welcoming and kind which makes the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself is tidy and well-kept, so you can really enjoy your meal in a comfortable space. They recently did a fun collaboration for their dessert, and it was a nice touch that showed they put creativity and care into their menu. Great ambiance! We live in the neighborhood and Thai food is one of our preferred restaurant choices. We would have given them a 5 star for a good menu selection, ambience despite being a very small restaurant and offering great service. Sadly all the dishes we ordered were far too salty. The fish cake that came in little nuggets rather than patties, were too dry and tough but tasted ok. Sala Thai is a cute little restaurant - has probably less than 10 tables inside. My friend flew in to Sky Harbor and wanted to grab lunch and this place wasn't too far away. Thai food is one of my favorite cuisines and this place did not disappoint!! They have lots of options including some street food options. I opted for the khao soi and it was delicious - the soup was so rich and flavorful. My husband ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp and he loved it - finished it all.
