Red curry tofu

Red curry with tofu. Did not skim on tofu. Big enough for 2 people to share and still be full!

Crab wontons

My friend and I had dinner here on a Friday night. It's a small restaurant and it was full, so we put our name on the wait list and got a text confirmation when our table was ready. Only had to wait 13 minutes so not inconvenient. I ordered my go-to: drunken noodles with tofu, spice level 4/5 and an order of crab wontons. The appetizer was tasty and a nice balance to my spicy dish. I like the sweet and sour sauce that comes with it. My dish tasted great and was definitely spicy. Only thing was it seemed like a small serving, there was a lot of space on the plate. Service was friendly and efficient. I've been to their Phoenix location and had ordered the same thing, good to know they are consistent across the valley!

We tried the pork skewers from the street food menu, and they were appetizer-sized but absolutely delicious -- definitely a 10/10. The Thai fried chicken was crispy and flavorful (8/10), while the Pad See Yew was just average for me (5/10). This location doesn't serve alcohol, but they do allow you to bring your own, which is a plus. The décor is simple but pleasant. The downside was the ambiance -- very noisy, which I'd rate 3/10. Service was friendly and efficient (8/10). Overall, I'd come back again to try other dishes, especially since the flavors of the pork skewers really stood out.

Papaya salad

Found this place on social media and glad I checked it out! The food here is pretty delicious! The papaya salad was refreshing and light. The skewers in the second dish were a bit chewy but the flavor was really good. I always love to order the stir fried glass noodles and this one was really tasty! Not sure if people usually use teriyaki sauce in their glass noodle dish. I personally like it because the noodles were more flavorful in this combination. This restaurant has a really small seating space. But overall, it feels really cozy to hang out with friends and family.

Panang Chicken Curry

Sala Thai may be our new favorite Thai place! The online ordering wasn't working (maybe because it was within an hour of closing) so we placed our order via phone. We ordered the chicken potstickers ($7 for 6), Pad Kee Mow with Beef ($16 +$2 extra for beef= $18), and Chicken Panang Curry ($17). We ordered the Pad Kee Mow and Curry at level 4 Spicy (Spice level 1-5 or Thai hot). The Chicken Potstickers were standard potstickers; not sure whether they are made in house or are frozen. They were on the crispier (almost burnt) side. The Chicken Panang Curry was on par with our favorite Thai place. Spice level 4 left a spicy aftertaste but it wasn't so spicy that it overpowered the taste. I think it was a good level! We were especially impressed with the Pad Kee Mow and the wok hay. The extra $2 on beef is worth it, as they use a nice, tenderized cut, higher quality than most! It did reheat a bit oily the next day, but still delicious! Looking forward to trying more things on the menu!

This place is truly a hidden gem. Stopped in for lunch on a Thursday at 12pm when they first open. The restaurant is small with cute decor. The restaurant filled up pretty fast right when they open. We ordered multiple different dishes to share and everything was delicious. My favorite dish was the Pad See Ew and the Beef salad. If you're in the area I would recommend stopping by. They open until 11pm on Thursday-Saturday to satisfy those late night cravings!!

What a hidden gem! I attended with my friend yesterday and was so pleasantly impressed. The ambience was so beautiful with such amazing Thai decor. The menus were the best I have had in a while, with such beautiful images of all the dishes. Felt very high end, but had the best affordable prices. Service was super friendly and recommended BYOB, so we went to CVS and got some beer! I will 100% be coming back

I was on this side of town for an appointment and decided to try a new Thai restaurant. I have nothing but positive praises for everything I ate. The staff was nice and attentive. The restaurant is small but has a welcoming vibe to it. The kitchen is open so you can basically watch the chefs work their magic. I will definitely return.

Writing this review after months and completely regretting why it slipped out of my mind to write up! Oh well, visited this place late december on a lazy sunday. Perfect time to visit as it wasnt too crowded. But, must i say the place is CUTE! Doesnt seem to have too much seating maybe capacity of 20ish.. but its comfy i might add. This is by far THE BEST thai restaurent I have visited. The servers and owner are so humble and recommended the perfect dishes. Portion sizes def do justice, but the taste, oh my! It'll transport you. It got just the right amount of spices, salt, gravy consistency. Nothing too less, nothing too much! We ordered the crab wontons, ofcourse! The spicy basil leaves with eggs and the Khao soi. Deliciousness!! We didnt have room for dessert, else would have def tried it! We also got our picture clicked on the wall, which was an adorable touch! This place perfect for any outing, be it a family fun outing, or a date night or friends catch up or just a lazy sunday cozy meal time date! Do visit it and try out their delicious, authentic Thai dishes!

Spicy basil leaves and fried egg.

Back again. This time we went with the street food options and they did not disappoint! The Thai Fried Chicken was amazing, as was the khao soi (curried noodles) and the spicy basil leaves with fried egg. Our server made recommendations for us (at our request) and she did a great job in highlighting some of the awesome dishes here. We had 3 dishes (they aren't huge which is good) and we still had leftovers for 2 of them! A nice tasty snack for later. Also a must mention is that this place is BYO! Fantastic to see this becoming a more population for restaurants and diners.

Stopped by for take out on a business trip and was so satisfied. Perfect portions, hot and fresh.

This Thai restaurant is small and in a strip mall and you would never expect it to be the most amazing Thai food ever!! The Thai grilled beef salad is fantastic. The dressing is zingy and so fresh, even with the spice level of three it packs a little chili pepper punch. I really like the flavor of cilantro and lime, and the salad dressing is packed with both. My friend and I also shared Panang Curry with chicken. The sauce (not overly creamy) is slightly sweet and nutty. This came with some vegetables and a few large pieces of broccoli, all served with a side of white rice. The restaurant is small and only one server managed everything beautifully (except we had to ask for the check). The food is delicious definitely worth trying.

What a pleasant surprise in Phoenix! Didn't expect such lovely Thai food and excellent service, but here we are. I really enjoyed everything, but I enjoyed the Thai fried rice with shrimp the most. You won't go wrong here and it's a really cool vibe for an intimate date night too. **Please follow me on Instagram & TikTok @NickEatzWorld and check out all my reviews and travel recommendations**

Is the pad thai gluten free?

Unfortunately it is not gluten free. However, we can make our Phad See Ew or drunken noodles gluten free.

The staff here are so kind it really made the experience of having to wait a bit so much better! The gentleman at the front door recommended a wine bar around the corner to wait at after we got on the list, which was a cute divey spot. The food was delicious, we loved the papaya salad so much, there were so many flavors of spicy and tangy, and the papaya itself was very refreshing. We had the Pad kee mao and Panang curry which were also delicious. For the chicken pad kee mao we requested it to be gluten free and they gave us the same rice noodles as the Pad Thai and a slightly different sauce which was so darn good! The chicken was very tender. When the Panang curry said it came with beef, I didn't know what to think but after a single bite I was a huge fan! So many flavors hit you at once and the beef was so incredible, it was falling part. I also ordered the savory cocktail option (I can't remember the name) which had cucumber vodka, fish sauce, mint, onion, and some other goodies, and wow! It changed my life. Highly highly recommend. Overall would definitely come back here, we were a walk in on a Saturday night and had an hour and a half wait to get in.

Looking at nearby Thai restaurants, we ventured to Tempe to give our second option a try only to find them closed for the holiday. I see Smile wasn't too far from where we were at so we decided to give them a go. Why not try something new in the new year? We were greeted as soon as we walked in, the host/server was welcoming and provided great service the entire time. We ordered their Thai tea, crab wontons and spring rolls for our drinks and appetizers. They were crispy fried and so delicious. The appetizers come with a standard sweet chili dipping sauce. For my entree I ordered their chicken bbq with a side of fried rice. My friend ordered chicken red curry. For dessert, we ordered their Thai custard sticky rice and the mango sticky rice. Wow! All I can say is, what a great experience! We were so impressed with the food that I think this is our new spot. We'll tell our friends and family to give this restaurant a try.

SENTRY - WATCHING RESTAURANTS…read more Smile Thai Cuisine 2107 S. Rural Road Tempe, 85282 I last visited this restaurant more than 10 years ago, so it was time for a new review. Upon entering I immediately noticed that the inside has totally changed. The entrance seems to be filled with a bar and a cash register and the tables have moved to the side. We started off with an appetizer of chicken satay. Long thin strips of chicken threaded onto skewers and served with a peanut sauce. It was a tasty dish though a bit difficult to get off the wooden skewers. For companions main course, ordered was pork cashew nuts. The dish had a melange of vegetables in a chile/garlic sauce. Companion enjoyed it be was unable to finish the dish because the portion was large. I ordered duck curry. I asked for it to be spicy, but unfortunately it was anything but that. The sauce was thin and without body and had an assortment of veggies in it along with some duck. At the bottom of the bowl I found a leg of duck. The dish was served with white rice which I promptly added to the sauce in an attempt to soak up some of it, but alas, it was to no avail. For drinks, we both ordered Thai Tea, which was properly made. It is served in tall jars, and neither of us could drink it all. If you have real Thai food that is Thai hot, Thai Tea will get rid of the heat on your palate in less than a minute. Cleanliness is a bit of a question, as our table had some old food encrusted on the edge. 3 Stars

My plan was to quickly go inside, find a table, and then come back out to calm her before seating the rest of the family. Instead, my sister-in-law politely asked a staff member for two high chairs and a place to sit. The lady assisting us (I'm not sure of her name) told us that we could only sit outside because our child was crying, and that they didn't want that inside. I was honestly shocked and didn't even know how to respond. Without arguing, we simply went outside and seated ourselves, but the damage was already done. Someone completely ruined our night after a long and rough day my wife had with the kids. This review isn't about the food -- we never even got that far. It's 100% about customer service.
