Out came the tallest Thai iced tea I have ever seen. I even took a picture of it. It was very good but not too sweet. For food I ordered the green curry with shrimp mild spice. It was very very delicious over the rice, not much spice at all. Sometimes these places say mild, but there is still a spicy hot tinge to the food, but not here. it was perfect. They brought out so much food I had enough for a whole other meal so I got half of it to go. This was my first time at Thai Basil and I have to say I'm completely satisfied. I ordered on Yelp and it was ready in about 15 minutes. Peanut coconut curry is fantastic, Creamy and delicious! I ordered pad see ew and crab puffs. I realllllly enjoyed the crab puffs, they were so crispy and light and had good flavor. The pad see ew, I ordered hot but I think it was pretty mild. We were in the mood for Thai and glad we found this place not too far from our hotel. We started with the Fresh Rolls with Shrimp. They were delicious! For dinner I went with the Pad See Eiw. THe portion was generous and the sauce was hard to resist. My husband had the Spicy Noodles and went with the heat level of a 4 out of 5. He also found his dish to be delicious and the spice wasn't a joke as he was 'glistening' a bit as he finished his meal. Called ahead to closest Thai place after a long travel day. I'm gluten free and they assured me pad thai was gluten free but I got huge stomach ache and was super dry, pretty bad to be honest. My partner has nut allergy and our bad for not looking at the menu but thank goodness I ate a bite first and immediately tasted the peanuts (gotten panang curry whole life and never come across one with nuts). I went there today to try their mango sticky rice for the first time. I called over the phone to order it and had no problem getting through. The man on the phone was friendly and took my order for me. When I arrived, the restaurant inside was clean and quite cute. The woman at the counter that completed my purchase was friendly as well. Everything I've had was good. I love that to go they put a vent in the box so the spring rolls stay crisp. The Tom kha I think is very good, not the best I've had (to be fair I've spent several weeks in Thailand and ate a lot of this soup in that time). I update this review with a heavy heart. I love thé Thaï Basil on Rural, it has never disappointed me. However, this location (university) has missed the mark 1 too many times. After my last meal, which was take out, I ultimately chose to never go again. I really thought maybe something would've changed. Thai Basil had been my favorite Thai Food place in Arizona since I moved here, but I cannot in good faith ever return. As I was enjoying my usual meal, I looked down and saw a medium sized cockroach in my Pad Thai. I was horrified and when my waitress was called she apologized and tried to quickly remove it. I then asked to speak with the owner to let them know what had happened (For Food Safety Purposes) and she was also apologetic, but dismissive attributing the roach to a bug bomb they set off the night before. She told me I did not have to pay, but then proceeded to ask the person I was with if there was anything wrong with his meal as if he was going to need to pay. We had just received our meals. DoorDashed this place late at night while I was doing homework since I was craving Tom yum soup. I got that and the beef salad. Both were incredibly good and I was very impressed. Being in Arizona for work, I haven't had much luck with good ethnic food so this place was a great find. My only complaint is that I wished they cut the mushrooms in the Tom yum soup a bit smaller. The beef salad was delicious. Steak slices were thick and still tender when the food arrived- more steak than salad but I'm not going to complain about that at all. Although the food may have been adequate and tasty it was a little too much on the sweet side and one of the dishes we ordered (Yellow Curry (Kang Ka Ree) had way too many onions. We stayed at a hotel and decided to use Uber Eats, while placing the order we checked off the box (utensils needed), well none came with the order and as I said we were in a hotel room, therefore stuck.
