I recently met up with a friend at this place last Friday night -- my first time here and I have to say that the ambiance, the laid back environment was great. As I viewed the menu, the Tomatillo Chicken Tacos looked delicious so I ordered a couple. I took one bite and while that one bite was good and flavorful, the tacos were too spicy for me. I can't eat spicy or acidic foods because I have an ulcer that I have to be careful with. My server was the absolute best as he had asked for my honest opinion and got it, then offered me the opportunity to change out my food to something different, which was so appreciative. I ordered a burger to replace my tacos, which was also delicious (and without any spice). This place is fantastic for social interaction, dining, and/or just unwinding after a long day. It feels relaxing to just be in the moment when you are here. If you're looking for a cool vibes kind of brewery/restaurant, a good social scene that doesn't have drama with its customers, this is a place to go. We tried a couple of their vegan items and sat in the new tasting bar because the main location was full. I actually liked it a lot better in there anyway because it's newer, cleaner and quieter. We had the vegan counter culture burger and really like the toppings of guac, red peppers, and a spicy chipotle ranch. It was pretty good but hard to eat because the height of it all was huge. We also had the papas and "cauliflower" tacos. I didn't see any cauliflower in there although maybe it was diced really small? The "papas" are tiny diced sweet potatoes. The fries were ok, but very well done and we made sure to specify no duck fat. Everything in the taco contains tiny pieces which easily fall out of the tortilla as you eat. Meh, I don't get the reviews at all. After living next to it for 3 years, I finally got the PB&J burger that everyone is talking about, with the signature fries, and it was a massive disappointment. First it was very expensive, a burger and a small side of fries for over $23 after everything for a take out order. Second the burger just tasted like nothing special, like I can't point to a thing that it is that good. I have tried others that are in the area that makes a much better burger. For smashed burger type, try Detroit corny grill in Gilbert. For a regular hatch burger with really good fries, try Fate brewing in Tempe. read more

I was seeing those frozen margaritas online and I knew I just needed to try them! So happy we did, even came on a Monday so they were half off. They were delicious and can still taste the tequila. 08/10/2026 My mom and I love the Baselayer Burrito ($17 + $2 to add egg), but it was not as good today. The burrito size seemed smaller today, which would've been fine with us, but other factors made it unsatisfactory. There were lots of beef fat instead of meat - many small pieces, and I also got a thick piece of fat, like an inch thick. I should've taken a picture of it. This had never happened before in the dozens of times I've had the burrito. There was also a random coconut flavor that was never there before, and it did not pair well with the other flavors. Another change was the burrito didn't come with a side before, and this time it was served with tortilla chips. The chips were okay, but I'd rather have more duck fat fries. Service was good to start, and he checked in with us shortly after we got our food. Then we didn't see our server for a long time after that. So we sat there for a bit after finishing our food. I hope they take this feedback into consideration because I'm willing to come back and give the burrito another try. read more

Our search for the best burgers in Phoenix brought us to Arizona Wilderness Brewing. We visited on a Friday around 6:00 PM; the place was hopping, and the atmosphere was great with basketball playing on several TVs. We were greeted and seated immediately. We started with a beer and the cauliflower appetizer--both were amazing! Just a heads-up: the cauliflower is a little spicy, but totally addictive. Our burgers arrived quickly. The onion rings and duck fat fries were on point with unique seasoning, and the homemade ketchup and pickles were a welcome surprise. We tried the PB&J burger, which was both creative and delicious. I've been to this brewery a few times. The food is always fresh and they have plenty of drinks to choose from. They have both indoor and patio (with misters) seating. They're usually busy at dinner time, even on the weekdays, but we've never had to wait long. I like to get their side salad with a breaded chicken breast cut on top. They're known for their beer and burgers. And on those, they delivered! I enjoyed the darker beers, the amber, and their award winning light beer. The service was very kind and quick, even on a Saturday. They have plenty of porch seating as well if you like that. I got the Oklazona Burger (I think is how you spell it) and it was utterly amazing. Juicy, spicy, soft, and perfect. One of my favorite burgers. The tacos didn't fair as well though, with the fish being the only liked flavor and the other three (carne asada, pork, and avocado/veggie) not being big hits. I still highly recommend the burgers though and will definitely be back to enjoy them more often! read more

Celebrated my sister's birthday with the girls at Arizona Wilderness, and once again, the food did not disappoint! The nachos are amazing, especially with those delicious pickled onions, and the PB&J burger was UNBELIEVABLY good. We also shared the dry rub wings, which are always a favorite (crispy and flavorful on the outside and moist on the inside)! But the real star of the show was our waitress, Molly! She made us feel welcome from the minute we walked through the door. She was on it with drink refills, incredibly attentive, kind, and somehow managed to keep up with everything while making us feel like we were her only table. Molly is the kind of server you expect to find in a fine dining restaurant: the perfect combination of attentive, personable, efficient, and genuinely warm. Arizona Wilderness is lucky to have her! It's been quite a few years since I was last here, but boy was it as delicious as I remembered. The Wicked Chicken sandwich I got was really flavorful with the sauce they add, the bacon was crispy, and the chicken was tender and moist too. The duck fat fries are classic and rich without being heavy. I love how refreshing their dessert blossom tea is and great as an Arnold Palmer. I highly recommend coming here. We really wish this place was closer, because it's one of our new favorites! The vegan Earth bowl add chicken is absolutely amazing! I hate writing negative reviews. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a month since he loves the chicken and waffles and I love the PB&J burger. The two stars are for the service. This only happens when we go with Latinos. The last 3 times we went with Latinos the service has been terrible, so much that my boyfriend pointed it out it's only when we come with Latinos. Even when it's not busy, we have to find our server and request to order, once we didn't get napkins, and silverware even though we asked twice. The food comes out great. It's just like we get ignored. And it's not like we order difficult things or we are rude. We still tip good because I've worked in the industry. But I think maybe the staff needs inclusive training because any other time we have good service. read more

Came here for lunch a few days ago and it was my first visit. We sat at the awkward end of the bar and Riley was our server. She was very sweet and recommended a few of the popular burgers, as well as what they're known for, their PB&J burger. So, that's what I ordered (always gotta go for a good "known for"). Unfortunately, there was BARLEY a whisper of peanut butter. It was a literally a burger patty, with really good bacon and a smidgen of jalapeño jelly. Very disappointing to say the least. However, I am still rating this a four stars, because our server, Riley, was great, my boyfriend liked his smash burger and the fries were a delight, but....if you have a PB&J burger, it would help if it actually had some PB. read more

I stopped in with hopes of having some Octoberfest grub. They delivered. The Schnitzel was tasty, nice breading. My only gripe, it was kinda tough. Cooked about 2-3 minutes per side too long. I actually swung by this spot back in 2023 and when I wasn't pregnant again so I was still on my beer kick! Moving from the Seattle area where I really got heavily into beer tastings, this brewery definitely hit the spot for me. I had one of their Hazy IPA's on tap and it was the right amount of hazy for me for sure. Also ordered their pulled pork poutine fries and it went so well with my beer. Burgers were big, cooked to order, but bun was excessively large and hard to manage. Same was true for chicken sandwich, the Sorono , a grilled breast with shoe string onion rings as a topping. I really enjoy a craft brewery. There's nothing better than trying a bunch of different brews. This place was awesome. It had a great vibes to it. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. We sat at the bar counter area, and hung out for like an hour and a half. I tried a total of 3 beers. Each one was unique and delicious. I had 2 different IPAs and 1 sour. IPAs are my favorite type of beer, and these were brewed perfectly. They had nice flavors and just hit the spot. The sour was a great one as well. I found this brewing company on accident while looking for a place to spend a few hours while waiting for my son. The location is the flagship/original location for the Arizona Wilderness Brewing Company and is quite large, with multiple seating areas and concepts onsite. My wife and I sat in the rear outdoor patio section. It was a warmish January afternoon and the picnic tables and classic rock made the afternoon (with a couple of $8 Refuge IPA's (16oz)) fly by. This is an outstanding place and if/when I return to the Gilbert/Mesa area (this spot seems to be in the border of both communities), I will definitely stop here again. Oh.... Parking seemed tight, but it circles rhe building and I located a few spots on the "storage" side of the brewing company. read more

We visited on a late Saturday afternoon, and were seated quickly on the patio. Surprised as the bar area both inside and the patio that is in the rear off the parking lot were full. Very nicely decorated with their theme. The street view seating was shaded and the misters were on which kept it cool. Street traffic was a bit loud but not too bad, the front parking buffered the noise. Our server greeted us quickly and was jam packed with suggestions of comparable commercial beers to their brand of beers. Not going to lie, their brand is delicious and actually a bit better than the commercial brand We had their Dead out & Dont F it up. Dead out is a must try, I'm not in any way a dark ale person but this was by far more tasty than the Don't f it up. However both were wonderful. The food is not a reason to go. We both had tacos and shared onion rings. The meat was cooked perfectly but the sauce was less palatable, flavors were too overpowering and drenched sauce. It killed the flavor of the meat itself. When mentioned it to the server, she simply shrugged and stated they do have "heat", I said that it was too much on there, lifted a piece with my fork and it was dripping, covered. Heat was not the issue, too much was. The sauce itself was tasty, but took away from the dish. Had it been on a chip of a fry dipped into it would have been better. Duly noted, next ask for it on the side, let the meat itself shine through. Lastly, the onion ring were truly disappointing. Arrived a very cool room temperature. They arrived few minutes after the tacos, and after reminding the server as we had ordered them. Almost felt as if they were ready on time by the kitchen staff, she was purely overwhelmed and simply, forgot. Small portion and my opinion not an option on my future visit again. Soggy and very greasy, perhaps would have been better if served hot and on time. Worth a visit, may go again. Maybe. Definitely go for the extensive list of brews, here is where they shine. read more

Seven years later, this place still holds up. The service here is always great. They take good care of you and our food came out fast and was so hot and fresh. My favorite is the Wilderfries that came with my burger: fried in duck fat and seasoned with rosemary and thyme. Crispy, hot and fantastic. I also ordered the single patty smash burger. They serve it on a toasted Noble Portuguese bun which elevates things, and the flavor of the beef is great coupled with beer mustard, Colby cheese and Americana sauce. (Pickles and onions) I think I prefer the AZ Wilderness burger overall which is just their classic burger but this one was still enjoyable. Visited today for the first time and had to try the PB & J burger. I started off with a beer flight from their impressive collection. All 5 beers were very good with the Every Day is Earth day being a stand out. So on to the main event. The onion rings are amazing. The sriracha maple ketchup was the best dipping sauce I have ever had with onion rings! You must order these onion rings. On to the PB&J burger. Don't be fooled by the name, these flavors are not what you think and they pair together great. I would highly recommend you give it a try. We've been going to Wilderness for five years now - ever since we moved right around the corner. In the 50+ times we've been, we've never had bad food or a bad experience. I don't know why it's taken me so long to leave a review. Everything on the menu is amazing. They have a scratch kitchen, so things can very easily be substituted, added, or left off. Their rotating list of beers and cocktails are always great. Their merch is made with high quality fabrics and the designs show lots of creativity (we have far too many hats and shirts from them). The atmosphere is great. The staff is awesome. The values of the employees and the business are great. They buy local, they compost, they grow some of their own ingredients. There's nothing bad to say. We've seen some of the different community events they've done in the past and are finally keeping up with the newsletters they send out so we can be more involved ourselves. We had a blast attending a tie dye event this past week as part of their thirteenth anniversary celebration and can't wait to do more with our community. Special nod to Matt for hosting tie dye on his day off this past Sunday. He was ironically the last server we had when we went a couple weeks prior. read more
