Received a gift card and we were excited to come back for another visit. Stopped in for a late lunch/early dinner and decided to share a couple of the offerings. I don't remember the young lady's name that served us but the receipt says "South B" so hopefully that means something to the shop because a shout out to her friendly nature and helpful service. You grab a menu, find your own table, and once you decide on what you want, you go up to the counter to order and pay. The store wasn't busy, which was around 3:00 on a Monday afternoon. We both got ice tea to drink...you gotta love the round ice cubes they use! Also ordered the Elote flatbread, the chicken parm sandwich which also comes with your choice of chips or salad or soup. Got the Italian salad which is dressed in an Italian vinaigrette and I asked for a side of ranch as well. If you have never tried Italian dressing combined with ranch...well, it's a taste sensation! The Elote flatbread is AMAZING! The crust alone is so good and tender and this comes with chicken, corn, roasted poblano and the crema, which is a chipotle crema was so good. I'm not a big spicy girl and this was actually perfect...you could taste the heat but was not overwhelming in the least. The chicken parm sandwich was just as good! A breaded chicken patty on a soft brioche bun, topped with some nice tasting pomodoro sauce and tons of arugula, which makes the sandwich over the top! A great late lunch/early dinner and so glad we had the opportunity to return. Highly recommend this place and if you are a beer drinker, this could be your heaven! This Place is right up the road for me, I've been wanting to get here forever. So this Place has a nice five has an outdoor patio and a small indoor sitting area. It is a go to the counter order and go sit down with a number type of establishment. You can sit at the bar and have your food full service there. They have two different ice teas in the carafes and water in bottles. You can take cheer table. I ordered the lunch special for $14. Small Pizza and salad. I ordered the prosciutto. Pizza and my Friend ordered the meat pizza with the salad and I ordered the cup of soup which was a Green chili beef. We also ordered the iced tea that came with glasses with lemon and huge ice cubes, which were really cool. This place is a wine and board type of establishment. We got our food really fast. The Pizza was tasty and the little salad was just fine. And we had a great time. The Green chili beef soup was very good. Had a good time and we will be back. read more

A very poorly assembled chicken sandwich with weird tasting bbq sauce. The bun was overloaded with sauce and burnt. They akso threw way too much coleslaw and cheap pickles on sandwich which made it unable to be picked up. Choice of sides for $16 was cheap offering a tiny salad or bag of chips. What an amazing find and so glad I came here today! I've been eyeing this place for a long time but never could make it until today. Initially, I was trying to go to Bar Capri as it is listed as a hot 2025 restaurant in The Phoenix New Times but they are not open on New Years Day. I peeked next door and the Freely was open and they also own Bar Capri too. The place wasnt too packed and plenty of outdoor patio tables free, so I decided to come here. Ordering is very easy here and you order under the yellow signs. Both wait staff I had were excellent. Friendly, chatty and very welcoming! You order your beer and they pour it for you and then you order the food and take a number and they bring it out to you. This is my favorite way of ordering food and drinks, simple and no hassle. My initial 8 oz pour of a Belgian wheat made by Pedal Haus called Biere Blanche wasnt very good as it was kind of flat and bland, however, I gave two other beers a try and wow I was blown away! I tried a wild ale made in Copenhagen, Denmark and just had a taste, and it was great! It was more on the sour side, so I will need to be in the mood for a sour to give that one a try again. I ordered a 4 oz pour of Outer Range Superglacial which is also a Belgian style wit beer made in Frisco, CO and this was phenomenal! There are hints of coriander in it that just makes the beer pop and I really enjoyed this beer! I like good beer and also know what I like (low IBUs) and this place catered to the beer snob in me. I approve! My only wish is that they had more wheats available and less IPAs. I am not an IPA drinker, been there and done that back in the 2010s in NYC, I'm over it. As for food, I ordered a Margherita flatbread. This was just ok for me, the sauce and cheese are nothing to write home about. Crust is tasty and I did enjoy that. I doubt I would order this again. They have plenty of specials going on here and I'm definitely coming back. Their beer selection is extensive and the bartender even joked with me and asked if I was coming back tomorrow. Funny enough, I might as they do have a great lunch special! They also carry some of the beers they have on draft and since I haven't had such a good beer like Outer Range Superglacial in a long while, I bought a few cans to enjoy at home or elsewhere! The service was very friendly here, ambiance is really nice on the patio (pup friendly too), and the beer selection is up my alley. I'm definitely coming back and will try some HH specials too! I've been here a few times but apparently never reviewed! Freely is a cozy neighborhood taproom / bar with great staff, beer selection, food -- and cocktails even! The interior is dark and cozy and they have patio seating with heaters as well. I love coming here for a relaxing catch up with friends. You order at the bar - or if outside, I think you can also order online. They do bring your food to your table and are circulating often to pick up finished plates and glassware. While there's a bit of self-serve to it, the staff here are always so nice! And I love that there's a clean section where you can grab water, to go boxes, etc. Food has been mostly good! I love the hummus but in the past it came with such vinegar-y vegetables -- and I LOVE pickles - that I've been scared to order it again. Pizza -- er, flatbread!! is delicious, and I think I'm really picky on this. I got the one with prosciutto and arugula this time and it was sooo good! Bathrooms are always clean, doors don't seem sketchy like they'll lock you in, and every visit you'll be entertained by the wallpaper. All in all, this place has good food, amazing staff, and a relaxed welcoming vibe. Every neighborhood needs a place like this. read more

This place was pretty cool! I came here with some friends for happy hour around 530 on a Tuesday and I'd say it was 40-50% full. There is a parking lot, but a lot of the spots nearby were taken. I parked around back where there were additional spots. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Freely taproom has a TON of drinks on tap: ciders, beers and mead to name a few. They also do a bottle wine and flatbread pizza deal for $26 on Tuesdays and have beer to go and merch to purchase. Lots of foos choices including sandwiches, flatbread pizzas and apps! I decided to try the pretzel with mustard and paid $1 extra for beer cheese. The pretzel was pretty good, but the extra cheese was disappointing, cold and it seemed microwaved.... I also tried one of the sours they had on tap (Goldwater's "The Blob")and really enjoyed that. My friends enjoyed all the food they ordered which included the chicken parm sandwich and meatball sub. This place gives out Zapp's Voodoo potato chips which are so good!! I didn't order an entree, but someone working there gave me a bag anyways. I really appreciated that, and it made up for the disappointing beer cheese. I would definitely check this place out again and try one of their flatbreads. read more

First time visiting. I went with my coworkers for happy hour. The restaurant is a little different in the sense you order your food, sit where you desire and they bring it out to you when it's done. To add to your order you must go back up to the register. Since it was a small location it wasn't bad and didn't feel like you had to walk a mile to add more to your order. We found this spot by searching for happy hours in the area. They had really good deals. We wanted a mix of beer and wine and found it right here. The venue is nice space with mix use with indoor/outdoor. We sat inside since we had a bigger party. For food we got the pretzel and mozzarella sticks. Both very solid picks. Would order again. I also peeped someone with a charcuterie board and it looked delicious. For drinks, my husband wanted all the beer not on the special. I grabbed Sauvignon Blanc and it was good. The food options are much appreciated but with a limited selection beyond the flatbreads. It being closer to dinner I opted for the crispy chicken sandwich and it was pretty much on line with expectations. Really though, you're not planning to come here for the food. Menu is sandwiches and flat beard and some small apps. Beer and wine! They have water bottles you can take to your table and a beer to go section. They have gluten free options as well. The drinks here are excellent, fantastic beer and wine list, but the food, not so much. We tried the charcuterie board, pretzel board, and chile cheese dip (exactly the same dip as is on the pretzel board, FYI) while having some drinks. These sharable appetizer plates are between $15-$20 each. It feels like everything is just right out of a supermarket packet and put on a board - not really what you would expect at a restaurant. An example, the chips with the cheese dip were like Tostitos, where in a bar restaurant, I would expect certain basic things like that to be made-in-house. The meats and cheese are also not great quality, just not what I expected for the price. Based on this visit, I wouldn't recommend the food, but I would definitely recommend the beer and wine list - lots to choose from. There is minimal service - you line up to order and pay at the bar, but they do bring your food out when it is ready. read more

Service is walk up to the counter and place your order. You'll be given a number and order will be brought to you. We sat on the patio since it was really nice out. We lucked out and it was the first Monday that they've been open. I had suggested this place without looking at their hours so that worked in our favor. Next time I'm in south Tempe I'd go back and try more things on the menu. Whenever I get back to drinking beer I'll grab a beer but until then it'll likely be wine or a cocktail :) read more

This place just keeps getting better and better! The service is friendly and warm, helpful too. The dog-friendly patio is welcoming and spacious, so cool on a warm day, with heaters when it's chilly. So many choices on the beer end, plus wine, and cocktails too. The food - absolutely LOVE the flatbreads! The bread is perfectly baked and toppings are delicious. Stopped in for brunch on a Sunday while we were in the area. It's a cafeteria style where you order at the counter and take a number to your table and they bring you the food and drinks. The ambience is pretty chill and they have a pretty decent selection of drafts on tap. I ordered the French toast and a strawberry salad and the hubby ordered a bloody Mary and the biscuits and gravy. 2 Friends ordered the breakfast sandwich, one ordered the biscuits and gravy, and another got the chicken and waffles (though it was not actually waffles, it was a waffle cone). The salad was a nice size and packed with leafy greens. The strawberries were fresh and the mint was a nice refreshing addition to each bite along with the candied pecans. The apple cider vinaigrette was light and tart and the perfect compliment to the salad. The French toast was bomb! The bread was soft with crisp edges and the cinnamon honey butter was so tasty. You didn't really need the syrup, but of course I still added a touch. The biscuits and gravy were great. The gravy was nice and peppery with a hint of a kick in the sausage. The biscuits also tasted home made and were soft and chewy. Bacon was a crispy chewy and hubby thought it was delicious. Discovered this place from pubpass. We came on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only two that were seated at the bar and there were a few parties outside on the patio. By the time I finished my beer, everyone on the patio was gone and another couple joined us at the bar. Neither one of us could get any service -- and we were the only four people in the entire establishment. I had an empty beer for 20 mins and wanted to order another one, but the four employees that looked at us and acknowledged our empty glasses kept turning away and then getting on their cell phones. Bartenders also make great cocktails! Happy hour pitcher deal is one of the best around. Service is always top notch, quick to clear tables, and usually a busy fun environment. Freely is just what the south Tempe area needs- a great taproom with ever-changing taps, delicious food and pretty awesome staff. It's tucked away in a nondescript small shopping plaza on the NW corner of McClintock & Warner. Not a lot of parking in general for this shopping plaza. There's no table service- you order at the counter and they keep a running tab until you're ready to cash out and leave. Food is delivered though to your table. The best things on their menu are the flatbreads and their Italian sandwich. Freely has daily specials ranging from happy hour to a bottle & a flatbread, a little bit of everything- as well as brunch/mimosa weekend specials. They can take table reservations - I've asked and done it before for a small group. Indoor and patio spaces are great for groups, and dogs (on leashes) can be brought into the patio. I've only met nice employees who enjoy being there- and super knowledgeable about beer! If you question one, they'll let you sample one(s).
