We stopped in at Catalyst for dinner and a brew on the way home from the Diamondbacks game today. We decided to split the blackened chicken sandwich. It was really good, slightly spicy and nice and tender. They have a creative craft beer, cider and cocktail list. Since they offer 5 oz glasses we could try several. I lean toward IPA, particularly west coast IPAs. I tried one, and it was good, I was ready to order another when one of the owners, Rex, stopped by to see if we needed anything. He brought over samples of their three hoppy beers, the one I tried, and west coast IPA and a saison with added hops, it was interesting and good. Then Rex insisted on bringing me a cider made with hibiscus tea. It was so delicious I bought a 4 pack to take home. We had such a nice experience. read more

Stumbled upon this place on our way home, and I'm so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and laid-back, which made it the perfect stop to wind down. I really appreciated how attentive he was in helping us choose something that matched our tastes. it made the experience feel more personalized. We decided to order some food to go with our drinks, and let me just say, it did not disappoint. The toritos were flavorful, super filling, and definitely hit the spot. We just finished smashing things and then we were like what is next? We spotted this brewery in the corner of the plaza, why not? We picked the seats down at the bar near the guy playing music. It was chilled and good vibe. We were greeted and asked if we have been before, nope first time. She introduced herself and then asked for our names. They are a locally owned and operated brewery and restaurant. There is a indoor and outdoor seating, spacious bar! The live music was not that loud we can hear each other talk. I can't believe I've never stopped here before!! What an awesome place, for real. All of the beers are insanely good, and the food!! Omg the food!! We got the Toritos, which I've never heard of before, but now I can't live without them. So dang good!! There's a big, beautiful outdoor dog-friendly patio area, and nice, clean inside bar and dining area. The staff is absolutely amazing, attentive and knowledgeable. We came here in February as a detour on a trip to Tucson and we really liked this brewery. The atmosphere was relaxing (we did come on a Thursday afternoon haha) and it was nice to just relax with a flight of beer and some tacos. The beer was very good and they had a variety of styles on tap and the tacos that we tried (carne asada and carnitas) were pretty good and affordable as well. happy to have discovered that Tempe has a locals-vibe kind of brewery where service and rapport building are a big focus! The bartender was friendly and engaging. Situated in the corner of a strip mall the brewery is surprisingly equipped with a large patio area that is mostly fenced in for any little ones or dogs. lol. Inside there are mainly high tops and several tables to sit at. If you want a bite to eat, there is a a taco spot off to the right of the bar service up some yummy eats and I included a separate review on it. I felt that they had a good selection on tap from sours to mostly IPAs which I was a fan of several we tasted! Overall I'd come back to enjoy some more of their brews! read more

Met up with friends and this place is so chill! As I was walking up the brewery I saw the big patio which would be so nice in the spring. I walked in and there was a good amount of seats/tables. The bar is pretty big and has a lot of beers on tap. The aesthetic is open and modern and all of the beer dispensers were silver. It looked very sleek, and added an extra touch. The bartender was very nice and offered to do a tab right away, which I liked. Then on the other side bar is the window/kitchen for S.A.L.T. If you're looking for a brewery in the Tempe area this is a good contender. Great for families, friends, or a beer for yourself. They have a good selection on tap. Personally if you like sours they don't have a great selection. What they do have isn't tart. I like my sours to be...well...sour. They have a great outdoor seating area with ample space and heaters for the winter. One thing is the music is a little too loud. It'd perfect if they turned it down a little so you aren't yelling to have conversation. Indoors is mainly high tops with several tables to sit at. I stopped in because another place I was going to try was closed. So, I jumped on Yelp to find something else close that I had been eyeing. They share a space with another business. S.A.L.T. Tacos. I noticed many patrons enjoying tacos, which is a good sign. The gentleman next to me ordered a few tacos and they smelled amazing! For my next visit, I will definitely be bringing my appetite and trying them. I enjoyed a couple of beers. I started with #27: Nitro Mango Soleil Blonde Golden Ale 5% ABV my 2nd was #15 Mr. Brightside Pale Ale Belgian 5.9 ABV. Both were good, but #15 was my favorite. They have sooooo many options, that I look forward to my next visit. All the staff were incredible and attentive, making sure we were taken care of. The beer-tender knew his beer and if you tell him what flavors you enjoy he'll guide you in the right direction. They had lacrosse on the TV which I was not interested in, but the guy sitting next to me was interested in learning more about the sport and the beer-tender was telling him all about it. It's taken us a few months to try this place even though we live within walking distance. We wish we hadn't waited so long! The patio is huge and would be perfect for good patio weather months. It was too hot when we tried this place so we sat inside, but indoors had good ambiance with nice music and tv's with sporting events. Even though they haven't been open for too terribly long, they have a long and varied list of their own beers. Hubby and I started with our own flights. I was impressed with everything I tried. We both particularly enjoyed the PV IPA. The combination of SALT tacos and Catalyst beer was a winning combo. Try the shrimp burrito! It's delicious. One of the nicest breweries we have been too. I don't do beer and almost every brewery I have been to with my husband, don't offer wine at all or have nasty blends. First-timers. Just happened upon this place. Great selection of beers. I had an Amer IPA and a Pale Ale. Both were okay, not the best I've had. I had the Southwest burger and my spouse the blackened chicken. Yummy. We both got tater tots as a side. The tater tots are the bomb, crispy and not greasy. Very tasty. My boyfriend and I checked out this place with our puppy, and we can't believe we didn't know about this place before! It came out on my page via social media as the newest Tempe local brewery, which is exactly what interested us. We went during their happy hour (check out their website), and we had a few in-hour drinks with happy hour prices. We tried their pilsners, lagers, and double and triple IPAs. All of them were super delicious. I had to point out the service was super friendly and the beertanders were super knowledgable. They were not only good at making small talks but also able to explain the taste of different beers. This place has a great patio where you can host private parties or just chill on the patio with your furry friends. What's more, they share the place with a taco place called Salt Tacos. We tried their happy hour tacos and they were great. Our favorite was the octopus taco. We can't wait to try other items that were on the menu. This place also serves wines and AZ sakes. This is the place! Please open one in Ahwatukee! Catalyst is a brew house that looks like a local hang. The bar is long an cozy, with TV's above it. There is seating and couches behind that. LOVE the huge selection of beers. They do have wine for those that are not into the hops. The service here is amazing. We sat on the couches and were not forgotten like a lot of places do when they focus on the bar only. The place was packed and the server still came over regularly to check on us. They even have a counter Mexican/seafood restaurant, SALT, that not only has amazing service but amazing food (check out my review on SALT). Eat and drink local! Came here to leave a short and sweet review because that's what my visit was, short and sweet. Don't let the location fool you. This place has their own amazing brews (I tried one of their insanely delicious seltzers), plus a ton of other insane beers on tap. It's a great setup with indoor and outdoor seating and the patio is dog friendly. Service was fast and so incredibly kind. They seem to share the space with a taco joint who serves food so I cannot wait to try that next time. My seltzer wasn't pretty but it sure was sweet and sour and tart and delightful. I didn't believe the other comment when they mentioned the owner and workers were "rude". Come to find out they were right, the owner is extremely rude and as well as the workers. While eating I could hear the workers gossiping about costumers. After much hype heard I had my inaugural visit early Friday afternoon. I'll just say... delicious beer? Sweet digs? Quality beery conversation? Easy parking? Comfortable seating? Catalyst Crafted checked all my boxes!! Right away beertender Brad and I were chatting beer and styles.... which lead in to more just beery conversation... so I already thought he was delightful so I told him my one hard and fast brewery rule is: no matter how good or bad the beer is? 90% of why I come back is...who's behind the bar... if we can chat beer and all things beeriness, I'm in. But in Catalyst's case.... the everything will not only bring me back but based on my visit they inserted themselves in to my list of Top Five valley breweries. Drink delicious beer in a comfortable seat in probably some of the most inviting digs whilst discussing the tap list w a lovely beertender after you've easily parked right out front of the brewery! New establishment in Tempe. A group of us came to try the place out on a weekday evening and found ample seating inside. They've got a large patio seating are and private parking lot. There is a small food establishment inside called Salt which serves Mexican food. They had a ton of beer options, and you can get a flight. Menu is via QR code and on rotating screens throughout. There's a large bar with seating and multiple table options. Service was good and friendly. Would recommend! read more

It a nice corner location in a strip mall and has quite a large patio. They have some of their own beers but more guest tap handles. I wish they had more of their own beer to try.
