    Posse bowl

Smoke & Grain was a great find for lunch when we wanted something more substantial than a quick roadside stop. The menu had a strong variety, and we chose to sit at the bar. The service truly stood out--easily a 10/5. Our bartender was friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel welcoming from start to finish. As for the food: * The Posse Bowl was a 3/5--decent, but it lacked depth of flavor and could have been more seasoned. * The Amo Burger, on the other hand, was a hit. My husband finished it in no time and raved about both the burger and the fries. If you visit, I'd definitely recommend going the burger route. Overall, a good stop with standout service.

I've only been here twice, but I had to come back because I was seriously craving the amazing bowl I ordered the first time. When I first visited with friends, we also tried some cocktails made with fresh-squeezed juice, they were absolutely delicious. This time I ordered the Loaded Barrel bowl, which comes with rice, avocado, chicken, an over-medium (or over-easy) egg, teriyaki glaze, and green onions. It's such a hearty dish, fresh, flavorful, and surprisingly healthy. Everything tasted high-quality and well-prepared. The place itself looks great. I noticed a lot of people ordering the pizza, and it looked fantastic, so that's definitely on my list for next time. The ambiance is cool and open, they have a great selection of craft beers, and the bar area is really inviting. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the environment is very clean. It's attached to a shooting range, which adds to the unique vibe. Parking is never an issue. Overall, it's just a cool spot to hang out, catch up with friends, and enjoy quality food with great service. I highly recommend it and can't wait to go back to try more of the menu!

Driving up we were so confused because this restaurant is located in a gun club and labeled as "Wicks" sports bar or something outside. We verified we were in the right place and sat down. It's a very laid back small taproom style restaurant inside of the gun club/shop. It is not loud so that was a plus and the beer selection is decent. Service was quick and friendly overall just not really chatty despite being not very busy. The biggest bummer of all is that the food looked and sounded great online, but it was very disappointing and HUGELY overpriced. Both me and my friend got the chicken sandwich and it was like we got two different meals. Hers was thick and juicy albeit plain because they forgot the sauce mentioned on the menu, but mine was flat and burned (so much I was worried I bit into bone - I didn't). Mine was also missing the sauce and the Buffalo style I paid extra for was barely there. The tallow fries are crispy and delicious but the serving size is tiny. Mind you, this was almost $20! My kiddos $20 plain burger was burned, and the wings were overcooked. Stars of the show were the carne asada fries and the nachos but both were also severely overpriced for the portion. Not sure we will be back based on this experience.

We ordered dirty martinis ...a burger and side salads and southwest egg rolls everything was delish. Our server took great care of us. Nice little place very chill and good we will be back.

We wanted to try a new restaurant for Sunday dinner so I searched Yelp and found four new spots close to us and sent the options to my wife and son. My son picked Smoke and Grain so we drove up there after dark. We weren't sure if it was open as it looked dark inside but as we approached the front sliding doors it opened up and it was nice and bright and clean inside. We were warmly greeted and told we can sit anywhere. They have about 10 tables inside and a decent-sized bar. The first table we sat at had hard wooden chairs with no padding and both my wife and I were instantly uncomfortable, but we saw most tables had chairs with padding so we moved to one...much nicer chairs. The restaurant is themed around the adjacent gun range. There's some patriotic decorations and others around guns and ammo. There's a half-dozen TVs on the walls as well if you're looking for a place to watch sports or special events. The menu had standard gastropub fare- burgers, pizza, sandwiches, appetizers and more. I ordered a coconut shrimp basket with fries, my son ordered the hot wings and my wife ordered a mushroom swiss burger. We all enjoyed our entrees but the standout were the french fries...nice and sturdy and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Perfectly seasoned. My son ended up eating half of our fries because he loved them! We enjoyed our first dining experience here and will likely visit again and try some new dishes! Thanks for the wonderful evening

Hungry for lunch, my son and I played restaurant roulette on the phone. We just did a search for something close and came up with this place. When we arrived, we were a little confused because the big sign on the building says Wicks, but we noticed that the door said Smoke & Grain. This place is inside (or connected to) a shooting range, which also kind of threw us off. But we managed to find it and went in. It's a cute little place with a bar and several tables that were decorated with fall centerpieces and little fabric pumpkins. It kind of had a country feel. Our server was very sweet and they didn't mind when I had a special order. I love, love, love hot dogs, but I love them dress my way - - mustard, fresh tomatoes, fresh chopped onions, and jalapenos. Our server said it wouldn't be a problem, and it wasn't - - my hot dog was perfect. My son got the Philly cheese steak. I did not try it but it did look delicious and he said it was. What was really the star is the fantastic french fries that came with both of our meals. They are the kind of fries that are so crispy - - I think they may batter them in some way?? Anyway, they were absolutely crispy and delicious. I'm not going to lie. Kind of thought this place would be "meh," but we both really liked the food and service here. Definitely will put this on repeat, especially for the french fries!

Stopped in last night for a bite to eat and beer with my wife. Great place, service from our bartender Dani and the staff. Nicely done inside with plenty of seating for everyone to enjoy the food, beverages, and company. Very subtle atmosphere to watch sports and not to loud where you can still have a conversation. Food service is pretty quick and a varied menu to choose from. This place is situated slightly behind Top Golf and the Main Event on Greenfield and Ray road. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Hubby & I had dinner here tonight. You seat yourself. Our server came over promptly. Hubby ordered his favorite draft beer. I ordered Titos & cranberry juice. My drink was good. Hubby's beer wasn't very cold. He ordered a tall, but it was the same size as a short any other place. We got the chips & salsa and added Queso. Hubby ordered the chicken strip basket with fries. I got the fried chicken sandwich with fries; no tomato or onion. The chips were stale. Our server brought us new ones & the same thing. The salsa was spicy even for hubby & he love spicy. My sandwich was supposed to have D'wan sauce on it, but there wasn't any sauce on it. It was okay, but a little dry. Hubby's strips were huge & thick. Not what he expected. The honey mustard was more like Carolina Gold & runny. There's no reason for us to go back. Happy hour is over at 5:00! A chicken sandwich & fries is almost $20! Ive had much better chicken sandwiches for way less.

    Burger & fries

We decided to check this place out in a whim Friday night. Got there around 6ish. The bar was packed but there were plenty of open tables which was perfect for us. Our server was Dylan who was GREAT!! Our food took forever, there were only 4 other tables & no one at the bar was ordering food?? We waited 50 minutes for a burger & the carne asada bowl. At first glance was major disappointment!! The guacamole on my plate was brown. My husband knows I just can't so he said "I'll eat it". Second disappointment the entire bowl was cold, not even room temp, cold. Dylan is now back at our table letting us know the husband's burger wasn't what he ordered but his actual order was in the way. It came out like 2 minutes later. I ended up eating some of the first one (which was also cold) because I just couldn't eat my food. The fries were pretty decent but I'm sure if they were hot they would've been even better. I'm not that picky person that complains about anything. I just said we'll take the food home & warm it up later. I'm not sure how long this place has been open but I feel they can do so much better. We love trying new places especially non chain restaurants. I did actually end up letting Dylan the food was cold, he was so apologetic I ended up feeling like the bad guy. Not crowded, long wait, cold food not a place I would recommend. The three stars I'm giving are for our server who was so kind, attentive & empathetic!! I would really like to read other reviews that would possibly change my mind & I would possibly give it another try.

1st visit and it did not disappoint. Food was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The sign outside still show Wicks but don't let that fool you.

Stopped in for lunch based on a few lists stating it has one of the best burgers in the SE valley. It was a decent burger but was very heavily seasoned. Fries were alright, and wait staff was pleasant. Nothing wrong with it, but not a contender for best burger in my opinion.

The food is absolutely phenomenal! Beef tallow out the wazoo!! The environment is always super clean and well kept up and the staff are always the nicest people you could ask for when going out to eat! I highly recommend the Fish n Chips or starting of with their bomb chicken egg rolls!! This is our number one go to spot for family dinner night!

Disappointing Anniversary Dinner - Expected More for the Price…read more My wife and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here after getting recommendations from friends who spoke highly of the place. Since we're in the Gilbert area, we loved the idea of a great steakhouse without the drive to Scottsdale. We went in with high expectations -- we're no strangers to special occasion dining, so we knew what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the experience fell short in almost every way. The ambience and service felt more like a polished chain restaurant than the upscale dining experience the prices suggest. For a $300-$400 dinner for two, you expect a certain level of attentiveness and flow -- and we just didn't get it. After our appetizers, we noticed we never received the pretzel bread everyone raves about. When I asked our waiter, he said they had just finished baking a fresh batch. When it arrived, it was cold -- so that clearly wasn't the case. We also had to flag our waiter down to take our entrée order, which shouldn't happen at this price point. My steak was fine -- just fine. My wife's fish was the same. Nothing memorable, nothing that made us feel like the bill was justified. By the end of the meal we were both ready to leave. Our waiter did offer a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, which was a nice gesture, but we were already checked out mentally and chose to go somewhere else to finish the evening on a better note. If you're in the East Valley looking for a truly special dinner, I'd honestly just make the drive to Mastro's Oceans Club or Steak 44.

I love a good rooftop and the weather was perfect. While they don't have a parking lot, free parking is available on the street and in the various surface lots and garages in the area. Ambiance (4.5/5): It's tough to beat a rooftop. Here you'll have nice views of downtown Gilbert, including the historic Gilbert water tower (which lights up at night). It's not a huge restaurant/bar, probably 50 seats or so. A good number of tables and then 15 seats or so at the bar. We sat at the bar. There's a pretty nice mural on one end too. Service (4/5): A little slow to start out with and to close out, but overall, friendly. We found one of the last four remaining seats at the bar. If not for that, there would have been a wait. One drink and then we made our way. Overall, about average. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet for this visit but they do have a full menu. Drinks (4/5): Interesting craft cocktail list. The first one on the list is a Sotol cocktail. If you've never had Sotol, it's a Mexican spirit. Not tequila and not mezcal, but somewhat similar to mezcal and it does have a bit of a smoky flavor. The Sotol So Good has sotol, butterfly pea, coconut rum, pineapple, lime, and orgeat. It's purple so it makes an impression. It packs a punch too.
