"Rabbit rabbit rabbit," is a superstition in some English-speaking countries where a person says "rabbit", "rabbits", or "white rabbits" upon waking on the first day of a month to ensure good luck for the rest of it. And with it being the New Year, I thought this was a great opportunity to start the year with The White Rabbit. I came here with seven others after an event and ordered the Cha Cha Real Smooth ($17 - Kalai Coconut Rum, Pineapple, Amaretto, Strawberry, and topped with Housemade Coconut Matcha Cream). Now this is a great way to end the nice! I can see why it was listed as a dessert because it drank like one. Mix it up and take a sip. Like Pringles, you just can't stop. Such a cute speakeasy in Downtown Gilbert. It's a vibe inside. Comfy seating, copper tiled backsplashes, and delightful drinks were had. They also serve food here so enjoy somes bites while you sip.

12/31/2025 TWR had been on my list for so long. I even signed up for their email list a long time ago, got the emails with the monthly password, but never went. Finally made a reservation to check it out on New Year's Eve. The NYE reservation was $60 per person, and the amount would be added to the final bill. OpenTable said it would come with a welcome cocktail, truffle popcorn, and champagne for the toast at midnight. I had also reserved bar seating. When we checked in outside at 10:30pm, the guy told us that OpenTable overbooked the bar area and asked if we were okay with a table. That was fine with us, as long as we could still be seated. Note: Even if you have a reservation, you still need the password! At the bottom of the stairs, a guy led us through a door. We walked down a hallway with shelves on one side full of bottles. We seemed to have reached a dead-end, but we knew there had to be some kind of trigger to open the secret door. The guy peeked in and told us to pull the rabbit! The bar was a lot darker than I had expected. The artwork were portraits of some strange, kind of creepy-looking people. There were two co-ed bathrooms shared between TWR and another bar. Thankfully I went shortly after I got there and was the first person in line because the line never stopped after that. There was a sign that said only TWR customers could enter TWR. Eventually they got an employee to stand there to enforce that. At our table, we didn't get truffle popcorn and didn't see it on anyone else's table. Our waitress said they didn't actually have it (so OpenTable shouldn't have said that), but she offered us chips and hatch green chile queso to make up for it. It tasted pretty good, but we were too full to eat much of it. The welcome cocktail was a choice between Bee's Knees and something else I don't remember. I chose Bee's Knees because I like gin cocktails. I did not like this one though. A bit too sour for me. I wanted to try something else on their cocktail menu. I told the waitress what spirits I like, then she recommended the Whirligig - Mezcal, lime, cucumber, agave, and citric acid. I enjoyed this one, and it came with a fun pinwheel that actually spun when you blow on it. Just a few minutes before midnight, they passed out glasses of champagne. Then the whole bar counted down from 10. Everyone had a big smile on their faces and was having a good time. Happy New Year!

This is a cool little speakeasy in downtown Gilbert. We had a party of eight, and they let us know that our gratuity would be added and that we could not have separate checks, but that was okay. You scan the QR code for the menu, but there is a full bar so they can make any drink you would like. I really, really like the cocktail I ordered off the menu. There is also a food menu. A couple of people in our party ordered flatbread pizza, but I didn't try it. I did hear them say it was pretty good, and they offered a gluten-free option as well.

3 1/2 stars - Second time visiting The White Rabbit since it opened, and honestly, this might be my last time. My girls and I had a reservation, and once we arrived, we were seated, and our server, Chloe, was great! She was attentive and very friendly. As we approached the two-hour limit, we asked if we needed to settle up, and she said no, we could stay longer as they weren't too busy. We let her know our DD was there to pick us up and asked if he could come down and join us. She said that would be fine, but the door guy totally turned our DD away and wouldn't let him come down to join us. Such a bummer, as my girls and I would have likely ordered more drinks and dessert.

Tried to be the responsible designated driver and pick up my crew after their night out--zero drinks for me, just here to get everyone home safe. Nope. Door guys acted like entitled wannabe tough guys, straight-up rejected me and wouldn't let me in to grab my party. Like, bro, you're bouncers at a speakeasy, not Secret Service. Zero help for sober drivers doing the right thing. This place clearly has no clue how to accommodate responsible people--total attitude over safety. Hard pass, won't recommend to anyone who actually cares about getting home alive. (Pro tip: If you're in Tempe and this was somewhere else, swap in the exact spot name. But based on what's out there, this fits the Gilbert White Rabbit vibe perfectly.)

This is a speakeasy in downtown Gilbert, probably one of my most favorite ! The entrance was pretty cool, you'll have to figure out where the secret door is. They make the best cocktails , perfectly balanced. I've been here a few times and I always get the blueberry margarita with the black salt on the rim. It has a little spice to it too! Very unique decorations inside. They have some small plates/ appetizers as well Definitely recommend!

It's hilarious watching humans try to get into here!!!

Ok so, I've found that taking my out of town guests here before going anywhere else, is how to get your "WELCOME TO AZ" funtivites started! Although, the place doesn't serve food, it's a great place to start with a cocktail for your guests, which is fun watching them, to figure out how to get into the joint! My daughter figured it out but, not right away! The rabbit figurines caught her attention and when she went to touch it, she found the door. Lol I love watching humans try to figure out how to get in! Lol I wouldn't tell guests that you're bringing them here because they will cheat by reading the reviews. Surprise them and bring them so that you can see them feeling confused. Lol You might want to Video tape or take photos before entering. There's plenty of free parking onsite as well as, on the street. Remember, you need a password to enter!

So fun! Love a good speakeasy and this is it. Did a wonderful job on the decor. Super moody, dimly lit. Clean restrooms We came on a Wednesday around 6pm, no reservations. It's located down some stairs. They have their logo to signal which way to go and where they are. No line, we were pleasantly greeted, gave the password and seated immediately, with barely a handful of people there. My bf and I were able to speak normally to each other, no shouting. On Wednesday's they have live music. It was this lovely musician. He had kind of like a jazzy blues feel & again not too loud. We made it for happy hour so my bf got an old fashion, we split a pepperoni flat bread, and I got the ritual and show me the body. Later we also got the pesto pizza. The drinks were a miss for me. They are doing a lot with the drinks, but they give details of the drink and an overall vibe so I think that's helpful. Nothing fabulous about the flat breads but enjoyable. After 730 it started to pick up a lot and became a normal noisy level for a bar. Our waiter was very attentive, then as it got busy he was starting to be spread thin as it was just him. Still no line as we left around 8pm ish My recc to enjoy this and have a great time, is to arrive between 5-6. Drinks are pricey but they have their happy hour. And then if you do plan to come later and esp during the weekend, make a reservation, expect lines, expect a loud place, you know, normal bar stuff haha I'll def come back and I hope I find a drink I like because drinks are anywhere from 12-17$

We were interested in trying something new in the Phoenix area- so when I came across a speakeasy in the area, I was excited! This speakeasy in located in downtown Gilbert and has been open for approximately seven years according to our waitress. To get into the speakeasy, you will need to make a reservation (you can reserve a bar or table seat), get a passcode and find the entrance which of course is lit by a red light. Once you find the door, you will have to tell them know your password, to be let in. Once you are in, you will be treated to the ambiance of this SPEAKEASY, BUT first you'll have to find the entrance- hint the name of the restaurant and red light. The bar is darkly lit with décor featuring all things related to apothecary, shelves of bottles and concoctions are featured on the shelves and along the bar. The drinks on the menu are interesting- a lot of unique drinks. If you like to keep it simple, you can always request your favorite cocktails as well. The bar also features a light menu that include a Bavarian pretzel with honey mustard, flatbread and pizza. Plus on weekdays from 4-6pm they have a happy hour with drinks and some food items at discounted prices. Note the seating is for only two hours. This bar tends to be on the louder side- we had trouble hearing each other and we were seating next to each other. Perhaps something to dampen the noise on the ceiling would be helpful. Don't miss the bathroom, if you like old school toliets! Its in the doctors office! haha!

The White Rabbit is a beautifully decorated and well appointed craft cocktail bar with all the ambiance one could ask for in a dimly lit, underground speakeasy. Service sitting at the bar has been very quick, and it's good chatting with bartenders as they are friendly and knowledgeable. We recently joined the newly formed Whiskey Club and look forward to coming in more often to enjoy a pour. The cocktails here are very well made. I've enjoyed various spirits each time. Overall, if you're curious to try The White Rabbit, make sure you find out the secret password, as it changes monthly, and get in there! Cheers!

Super fun vibe. Drinks were great and our service was quick. Fun little spot to grab a few quick drinks before heading out in downtown Gilbert

Loved this bar. They had some great drinks and happy hour is 5pm-7pm. Try their website and sign up for their emailing list to be able to get their monthly password. They ask you for it at the door which really adds to the mystery and experience! You also have to go through a fun hallway and small puzzle to enter the bar so it's super neat. The staff was very friendly and the drinks and food were stellar. Can't wait to go back.

Took myself for a night out. Saw the White Rabbit on social media is always intrigued. So decided to book a table and went to check it out. The entrance is a bit hidden, definitely contributes to the feeling of exclusivity and mystery. Finding the entrance downstairs is not super hard since they did put out an A frame to show where it is. The bouncer at the door actually do ask for the password of the month, so make sure you look that up before going. Upon entering there whole decor definitely has the prohibition era vibe. The place is dark, and has WiFi since there is no service down there. They have unique drinks (including mocktails that I tried). Their humus and flatbreads are surprising good. The service is also fast, at least when I was there. Definitely a unique experience. Try it once if you haven't been!

Do they have jazz music or any music playing? Also, is it stuffy/humid inside?

Per their website they have live music on Wednesday. https://www.twr.bar/faqs

    Is there a dress code?

From their site.. We do not enforce a dress code but suggest date-night-out attire.

    Can we make a reservation?

    Yes! You can make reservations!

Does TWR have any mocktails for non-drinkers?

Oh, I bet they could make you some killer mocktails.

Is there usually a wait time to get in?

On Fridays and Saturdays our peak hours are from 9pm until midnight. During this window, depending on the size of your group, you might experience a short wait.

Is the main bar area handicap accessible?

Correct, our staff at the door will gladly guide you to our elevator access.

How loud does it get? Can you hold a normal conversation across a table or is it hard to hear each other?

The music is on the louder side. You may have to raise your voice to be heard across the table.

    Do you take reservations?

No we do not. We operate strictly on a first come first served basis unless it's a full bar buyout.

When does the dining Room close or when do they stop serving food?

    Is there a happy hour?

Yes! Very small appetizers during happy hour though.

I love a good rooftop and the weather was perfect. While they don't have a parking lot, free parking is available on the street and in the various surface lots and garages in the area. Ambiance (4.5/5): It's tough to beat a rooftop. Here you'll have nice views of downtown Gilbert, including the historic Gilbert water tower (which lights up at night). It's not a huge restaurant/bar, probably 50 seats or so. A good number of tables and then 15 seats or so at the bar. We sat at the bar. There's a pretty nice mural on one end too. Service (4/5): A little slow to start out with and to close out, but overall, friendly. We found one of the last four remaining seats at the bar. If not for that, there would have been a wait. One drink and then we made our way. Overall, about average. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet for this visit but they do have a full menu. Drinks (4/5): Interesting craft cocktail list. The first one on the list is a Sotol cocktail. If you've never had Sotol, it's a Mexican spirit. Not tequila and not mezcal, but somewhat similar to mezcal and it does have a bit of a smoky flavor. The Sotol So Good has sotol, butterfly pea, coconut rum, pineapple, lime, and orgeat. It's purple so it makes an impression. It packs a punch too. If you're looking for a cool spot to grab some food and drinks in the heart of downtown Gilbert, when the weather is nice, Sotol is a great choice!

Right from the start, the elevator was out of order, which wasn't ideal. When we got inside, the place was mostly empty -- only a couple of other guests -- yet we were told to sit anywhere except along a section of tables by the wall. I pointed out a table at the far end, well away from the entrance, but was directed instead to what felt like the least desirable table, with the reasoning being they might need the space for a large party. After a bit of back-and-forth, they eventually let us sit where we preferred, but it made for a poor first impression -- especially considering the restaurant never filled up. Tried a few cocktails -- they were well made and enjoyable, definitely the highlight of the visit. Overall, good drinks but the initial experience left a sour note -- may or may not return. Saluti.

It is small but decorated beautifully thankfully there are no steps because it is dark and you kind of feel a little lost as you're walking through but the ambience is very cool. It feels like just tropical and lush all around you. We were seated at a two top along the wall, which seemed like a small space however, it had a really cool cut out window with a moving landscape of water and an island that through the course of the time as we were sitting there, changed to a storm and then cleared it up again it was just really beautiful visually and didn't feel so closed in. The menu was a large variety of cocktails obviously you need to like rum and bourbon and all of the things that pirates and island feels give. Our server made some suggestions. We ordered two different drink drinks. The first was the macadamia nut piña colada I think we are expecting a little more coconut flavor to this drink however, it was very delicious. Definitely strong. The other was actually our server suggestion that had peaked my interest because it had guava in it and that was called off the grid. It was delicious. It was perfectly balanced with sweet and sour lemon, pineapple guava with bourbon and other flavors. On our way out, I did hit the restroom. They have two neutral bathrooms. It was large. It was very clean, decorated beautifully like the rest of the restaurant. All in all a great way to start the night.

Once we arrived, we didn't know where the entrance was, but there was this blue heron cover over a single door so we went inside and turns out it was an exit. But once we got in, the bartender said we can sit anywhere so we sat in booth all the way in in a corner. Greeted by a man in a beard by the bar who said, "Finally ladies. Where have you been?" I went with my bestie and her bf. And her bf ended up chatting with the guy at the bar while my bestie and I sat down. Anyway, as we got seated, we were handed a menu (food and cocktails). We received water after we ordered our own drinks. My friend and I got the same thing. It had like lychee and lemon in it while her bf had this pornstar drink. The only name that I recall from the cocktails side of the menu lol. After deciding what to get from the main course, we were ready to eat. We waited and waited and waited some more but no one came back to check up on us. We were there about an hr, having a good time chatting of course, can't ruin my birthday but also we were very hungry. So my friend's bf got up the table, went to the bar and asked for the check. He was going to pay but I said it's on me. I left no tip with bad customer service as no one came back to us. I guess it pays to be at the bar and all the outside seating. Really wanted to try the food. Very disappointing. Sorry.

Mad Hatter Kava - That's is the Kratom. Which was supposed to be a citrus drink made with Sprite. Didn't look or taste like it at all.

She loves Alice in Wonderland. She was mistaken and thought it said Java not Kava. She thought Java Kava was a coffee lol So to my surprise when I get there, Kava is a dirt water that is very, very strong and pungent and not my cup of tea lol But besides that, this place is so hip and cool. The bartender was very, very informative and he let us know that they will give you your first dose of Kava for free to try it. I could not choke all of it down. My friend was a trooper goddess, and she choked the whole thing. I was so impressed by her I am very sensitive to things. I am a big baby sometimes so I did not drink the rest of mine because immediately I had a gag reflex going on lol So I did not drink the initial dose, but I ordered the Horchata beverage that had cover in it. And they have different doses, strengths and different styles of, so this is just what I ordered. It was the last light, on the menu he suggested for us. So even though I did not enjoy the Kava, it is not my jam. I would try it again lol I know that sounds crazy even after the strange tingling in my throat went away after everything I've said because I saw other people coming in and they had huge juicy type of Kava drinks and I was thinking well you know, maybe I'll come back and try the juicy, drink next time instead of focusing on this particular experience And the reason I say that is because the bartender was so great and informative and it is a fantastic vibe in there and it was busy enough for a weird Wednesday afternoon. So they have trivia karaoke all kinds of stuff throughout the week and I could see this being a really fun place. So if you like Kava, you should really come here. It is very fun. They had really great music going on and like I said the bartender was top-notch. Good job mad Hatter.!!! Try it!!

In order to enter you will need to see the staff at the back patio and descend down the staircase behind Level 1. You must solve a brief riddle to reveal the entrance. A group of us hung out at Level 1 recently and had a fun time checking out Alchemy 48 afterwards. The bar offers a unique experience with decor that transports visitors back to 1920s Prohibition era. Alchemy 48 has purple velvet walls, unique lighting, creepy wall pictures and a fireplace at the center. The staff is dressed in authentic speakeasy-era attire. There is live music on occasions. There are several cocktail drinks like the Alchemy R N' R, The Peacock, Old Fashioned, Dark Arts Black Manhattan and the Rittenhouse Rye, For food, patrons can sample a charcuterie boards and other light snacks. I love the vibe here and enjoyed a fun evening out with friends for my first visit here.

The place was less than half full when we walked in. The hostess was friendly, and we were seated at the bar. That's where the experience started going downhill. Several bartenders were working, yet not one acknowledged us not a greeting, not eye contact for an uncomfortably long time. I get it if you're busy, but common courtesy like "we'll be right with you" takes two seconds. Basic hospitality shouldn't be optional in a service job, especially at a place trying to position itself as "upscale." When we were finally able to place our drink order, we waited even longer. It got to the point where we were about to cancel altogether. The only reason our drinks even got made is because a customer of one of the bartenders sat down next to us and suddenly, all of our drinks were made at the same time. So if you know the staff, apparently you won't be waiting. My Old Fashioned was mediocre at best. Unbalanced and not worth the time or price. After last call, the bartenders vanished to close out tables, leaving us stranded and still waiting to pay. We had no intention of camping out for over an hour for a single round. I eventually had to get up and track someone down just to close out the tab. This place has potential, but the service was indifferent at best, borderline neglectful at worst. If you're going to charge premium prices and sell a curated experience, you actually have to deliver one.
