Roosters Country is hands down the worst excuse for a bar I've ever set foot in. Calling it a "dive bar" is an insult to actual dive bars. This place is a cesspool with booze. The floors are sticky enough to rip the soles off your shoes, the air smells like a mix of old cigarettes, sour mop water, and broken dreams, and the bathrooms are straight out of a horror movie. If you don't catch a staph infection here, consider yourself lucky. The drinks? Absolute garbage. Watered down, overpriced, and served in glasses that look like they haven't seen soap since the Bush administration. The bartenders couldn't care less -- they'd rather ignore you than make a drink worth drinking. The bouncers act like they're auditioning for a WWE villain role, puffing their chests at anyone who blinks the wrong way. And the crowd? Imagine every bad Tinder date you've ever had stuffed into one room with a soundtrack of off-key karaoke and a sound system that makes your ears beg for mercy. If you like fights breaking out over spilled beer and listening to drunk strangers scream into your face, congratulations -- you've found your paradise. Save yourself the misery. There are porta-potties at construction sites in Mesa that are more inviting than this dump. Okay, I am not a country music person but...I went here with my friend on Tuesday open mic night so he could try out his rap set which he was performing on the weekend. Surprisingly, the crowd was very receptive even though this is a country bar. I think people appreciated the guts it takes to get on stage. No one knew it was a first-time performance for the woman with him on stage. So I especially appreciated the nice response from the crowd. Cheap drinks. Limited food choices, not the greatest quality...but kind of what you'd expect. I try to tip the bartenders above 20% when I see them working the entire place. read more

Ok I don't even know where to start I honestly felt like I was going to catch something going into this place. There was so many people ignoring that this country has a Covid 19 problem. You had customers walking around from table to table not wearing a face masks interacting with other customers including the doorman and one of the entertainers performing who either weren't wearing ppe or just not properly wearing his mask interacting with customers. The only employee wearing proper protection was the bartender. I was so uncomfortable being there that we left 10 minutes after arriving. read more

I cannot say enough good about this place. Started coming here on Tuesday nights with my boyfriend for open mic night. The people that own this place treat their patrons like family. They are so nice and they cook up family style food here and there to boot. The energy in this place is awesome and my boyfriend and I were also noticing how clean it is in there. Worst bar I've ever been to! Every time we come here, we are overcharged for drinks. My husband only ordered two pitchers of beer... yet we were charged $18 four times. We also have 9 drinks on here that we didn't even order. Also, love that they advertise $6 Irish car bombs but yet I ordered 3 of them and there is not even one charge for $6. Don't come here unless you want to overpay for your drinks and be treated poorly by the bartenders. They said we weren't welcome back just because we asked for an itemized receipt of our tab. I have been going to Rooster's Country Bar for several years & have never had anything to review until now.....A bartender by the name of Allie has been there for the past several months (it has to be over a year now!) & we love her personality & the way she always greets our group with our drinks already made & sitting on the bar by the time we even get to it after just walking in the door! She should be behind the bar everyday as she's the person we go to see! We were going in on Sunday evenings but were disappointed a few weeks ago when we arrived to see someone else by the name of Bethany or Brittany working instead of Allie. This new bartender was extremely rude & we couldn't get drink refills unless we went to the bar to order even though she would walk past our table on the patio but completely ignore our entire group no matter what we would say or do to try getting her attention to order. She went out of her way to tell our group that she was the only person working and she'd get to us when she found the time even though, as we were standing at the bar waiting to order drink refills, all we witnessed her doing was washing glasses, restocking them in the cooler then preceding to leave the bar just to return two separate times with bottles of liquor that weren't even needed at that moment. She was making it very obvious that she was doing "busy work" just to be able to make our group stand & wait. It took 14 minutes for her to, finally, walk to the pour station to wait on us (and yes, we actually timed her!) & when she did deem us worthy of her attention, she stood in front of us without saying a single word; she just walked over & stood, staring at us until my girlfriend finally just asked her if she was ready to wait on actual customers now. This so called bartender had the nerve to then tell my GF that if she was going to cop an attitude with her we could all "leave her bar". My GF asked for contact information to be able to contact a manager or the owner since she (the owner, as we have seen her there several times during a few of our past visits to Rooster's & have chatted with her a few of the times we have been there!) unfortunately, wasn't there on Sunday night when this all transpired or we would have informed her of the issues we were having with this woman behind her bar that very night. This bartender went on to tell us that she was the only manager for the bar & "the buck stops with her". My GF asked her how to contact the owner & we were then told that she doesn't bother with simple minded people wasting her time with mindless & baseless complaints. I'm not sure what planet this lady came from, but when an employee is causing a business to lose money as well as long-time customers due to their treatment of said customers, I wouldn't generally think that it is a baseless complaint. I'm really hopeful that the owner(s) read these reviews since I'm guessing that a phone call wouldn't make it to them at this point but just know that our group of about 12 to 20 people (depending on the night & event we are coming from prior to coming into Rooster's) that were coming in every Friday & Sunday will not return on Sunday's as long as this same woman is behind your bar. She creates a very bland & unfriendly atmosphere when she's there! I wish we would have recorded our final interaction with her as my GF suggested we do but I told her not to bother. Now I'm wishing I would have just let her record it as it was really that bad & I want to ensure the owner(s) are truly able to see & hear how this person treats their customers!) We would love to see Allie back on Sunday nights as we were always made to feel welcomed & appreciated whenever we would come in & she was there! We go out of our norm now on Friday & Saturday's to come in when Allie & her awesome co-worker & fun counterpart Princess Diana are behind the bar! If you want people to have fun constantly & boost your business ratings, keep these two women happy & behind your bar for all of your busy nights! They're both extremely fun, competent, knowledgeable & the best at what they do! But just a quick recap; your bar will continue losing close to $500 (if not more considering we're always trying new shots & most of the time it is at the recommendation of your girls, Allie & Diana, as to what shots we order) on Sunday nights with my small group of people that will not step foot into your establishment if we see Beth or Brittany (don't know or care what her name is at this juncture) behind the bar. We don't drink, plain and simple. Cool little honky tonk bar in Mesa. Friendly bartenders, great live bands, good atmosphere. Unfortunately, the bar smells like smoke and my clothes and hair reeked when I got home. Why would a bar in Mesa, AZ smell like smoke you might ask? That's because the owner, Steve, smokes little cigars IN the bar! I informed a staff member when I saw someone smoking and they said, "Oh, that's the owner. He's going outside now" (with his cigar). However, he had already smelled the place up, and then he came back in with the cigar and continued smoking it. I was told he often walks through the bar with his cigar lit, headed outside, but that's still smoking inside! When I saw him he was sitting down smoking. Unfortunately it really made me feel sick. We were one of the first to purchase tickets for Highway Men on 1/30/22 For 11 people. We were promised a table up front. When we arrived the owners claimed they didn't have us down. They cleared us a picnic table while all the other customers sat in comfortable chairs. Then the owner Steve and Cheri) , told me to get out of the way because she was carrying more chairs for people that paid at the door. She was the rudest person that I've confronted in a long time. She truly lacked any customer service skills. But for sure she had a table!! Wasn't willing to give it up for paying customers. She deserves no stars. read more

Came here on a Wednesday for the karaoke. The place has changed a lot since I was here several years ago. I like the improvements. It doesn't feel like the hick bar I experienced years earlier. It is more trendy now. The crowd was a mix of younger and older people. The younger ones were mostly in back by the pool tables. I guess the old timers like their karaoke which was set up on the dance floor just as you walk in. The bartender was very attentive. The drinks were average in price. They have a popcorn machine which is self serve. If you are willing to some I'd suggest getting to it right after it is made. It is right near the restrooms and I saw someone come out and go right to the popcorn. After thinking about it I didn't want anymore. I'll be back if only for the karaoke. read more

I moved to Mesa Arizona from New Jersey, three months ago. I grew up listening to country music and I love it. Unfortunately, New Jersey lacks severely in "Country Music Bars and Live Bands", in fact, unless it's on your radio, you won't here it. Although this is not the reason I Moved to Arizona, being able to relax with a few beers and hear great country music bands has difinitly made my move an easier one. That all being said, "Rooster's Country" has literally helped make my new home in Mesa Arizona, a true home! The staff are the best I've ever encountered, in AZ or NJ. The owners could not be more polite and welcoming. The customers, especially the regulars, accepted me with open arms and you can't get any better live bands, open mic performers and Kareoke DJ's anywhere! This is truly a great bar! Best karaoke you will find, anywhere in the valley. My fiancée and I tried this place, on July 4th weekend (2019), and we have not gone to another place since. The owners are fantastic people and we quickly became part of what feels like a family. Cherie and Steve are both just awesome people. The bartenders are very fast and very thorough about their job. It's hard to find that, in a dive bar. As for the karaoke, Trey is the best sound guy around. I saw a review, where someone called him a drunk...but all I can say is that I've been coming here, every weekend, for about a year and have never seen him so much as a little tipsy. Calling someone a drunk, just because you were offended by the bar asking that you contribute, by buying a bag of chips or something, rather than just drinking water all night, is insane and extremely petty. I'd recommend getting a life. Anyway, back to the sound. Trey's expertise, when it comes to karaoke, is the best I've ever heard. I've been in multiple bands and sang at many different venues around the country and I would hire him to run my sound and fly him anywhere in the world to do it. I truly recommend this place, to those people who look for that sense of belonging. This place feels like home. All races, ages and genders are welcome.
