Came here for the Too Broke For Country Thunder fest, as my boyfriend's band was one of six country bands playing in this event. For as crazy busy as it was I thought the bar staff did a great job & got our drinks & eats out to us in a timely manner. The weather, however, had different ideas that night, especially during Strait Country & the Donny Grubb Band's sets. I commend the tech crew here for acting fast & taking measures to keep the bands & fans both safe during the horrific weather. I plan to come to more events in the future, as this is a great venue for live music & supporting our local bands & musicians.

Our food took a hour to get. My burger was so overdone and the $20 salad seemed premade and came in the plastic container a salad would come in. If you're looking to drink and socialize, it's your spot! And the patio is very dog friendly. But definitely skip out on the meal! Lol

I think the last time I was at The Monastery was probably 7 years ago? I live on the opposite side of town, so I haven't had a chance to check the place out since then. Tonight, I made a last minute decision to check out some live music. Bad Co. Experience was performing tonight I was looking forward to giving them a listen. Being that it was a Thursday night, I wasn't expecting a large crowd or anything, which is fine by me. I had no problem finding parking and I was greeted by several staff members when I walked into the courtyard. I found myself a table relatively close to the stage where the band was setting up. I was happy to see ashtrays on the tables so I could smoke one of my cigars during the show. I forgot how huge the outdoor area is. Lots of seating and covered areas. Shortly after seating myself, a gentleman came to my table to ask if I'd like something to drink. He took my order and told me that he wasn't my server, but he'd get me started and then hand me off to the server assigned to the section I was seated in. I thought that was very cool! Shortly after, the assigned server came back to my table with my beer and introduced herself. I placed a food order for their Famous Monk Burger. I really don't have high expectations for bar food. Typically it's nothing fancy and mediocre at best. I must say though, the burger was damn good! It was seasoned well and it was cooked as I ordered it - medium! The fries were... meh. Of course, I'll rarely rave about battered fries from anywhere since they're the bane of my existence. Service throughout the evening was excellent! I wish I could remember her name to give her some recognition here. She had long red hair. She was friendly attentive and efficient! Based on my experience here, I'm a bit shocked by some of the reviews. Maybe being here on a Thursday makes a difference? All I know is, I had a great experience and I won't hesitate to return for future live band events.

The place was less than half full when we walked in. The hostess was friendly, and we were seated at the bar. That's where the experience started going downhill. Several bartenders were working, yet not one acknowledged us not a greeting, not eye contact for an uncomfortably long time. I get it if you're busy, but common courtesy like "we'll be right with you" takes two seconds. Basic hospitality shouldn't be optional in a service job, especially at a place trying to position itself as "upscale." When we were finally able to place our drink order, we waited even longer. It got to the point where we were about to cancel altogether. The only reason our drinks even got made is because a customer of one of the bartenders sat down next to us and suddenly, all of our drinks were made at the same time. So if you know the staff, apparently you won't be waiting. My Old Fashioned was mediocre at best. Unbalanced and not worth the time or price. After last call, the bartenders vanished to close out tables, leaving us stranded and still waiting to pay. We had no intention of camping out for over an hour for a single round. I eventually had to get up and track someone down just to close out the tab. This place has potential, but the service was indifferent at best, borderline neglectful at worst. If you're going to charge premium prices and sell a curated experience, you actually have to deliver one.

The interior and outdoor patio is a beautiful space and we opted to sit out there during some nice weather. For a Tuesday night it was surprisingly full, we had a reservation for 6:30 pm and were sat right on time. The service of everyone we interacted with was great. Our server was friendly and did a great job explaining the menu and making suggestions. We ended up splitting a few dishes- the burrata appetizer, octopus picatta piccante, scallop spaghetti, and roasted airline chicken breast with risotto. Everything was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. The cocktails were also well balanced and very enjoyable. All in all, glad we ventured out to that area of Mesa to enjoy a lovely dinner!

Chupacabra was open, was a three-minute drive, and had excellent reviews. So my decision was made. I parked on the street for free a minute away on foot. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much your typical beer bar. Relatively small inside, but they also have a patio out front with picnic style seating. Casual. My type of bar. My only complaint? I hate picnic style seating because it doesn't give you back support. Which made me want to avoid the patio. Service (5/5): Super friendly service. The guy working the bar did a great job. I ordered one beer and called it a night. A seamless experience from beginning to end. They also have complimentary water in a water cooler, which is always a nice ou Food (N/A): I read they have food trucks, but I didn't see any when I visited. I had dinner prior anyway. Drinks (4.5/5): I love trying new beers and Chupacabra has an excellent selection. They have a rotating screen above the bar. Some interesting brews, ranging from local craft brews to quality European beers. This is not the type of place that has your typical assortment of mediocre beers. You'll find a lot better here. Overall, a cool spot in downtown Mesa. I'd definitely return the next time I'm in the neighborhood!

The floors are sticky enough to rip the soles off your shoes, the air smells like a mix of old cigarettes, sour mop water, and broken dreams, and the bathrooms are straight out of a horror movie. If you don't catch a staph infection here, consider yourself lucky. The drinks? Absolute garbage. Watered down, overpriced, and served in glasses that look like they haven't seen soap since the Bush administration. The bartenders couldn't care less -- they'd rather ignore you than make a drink worth drinking. The bouncers act like they're auditioning for a WWE villain role, puffing their chests at anyone who blinks the wrong way. And the crowd?
