Visited Maeva while in Gilbert. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the service was friendly, which made for a pleasant start. That said, the experience had a few issues. Getting seated was a bit awkward -- there are two entrances, and the one closest to the main parking garage is not the hostess entrance, which isn't very clear. We sat on the patio, and it was quite warm with only fans running; the misters didn't get turned on until after the lunch crowd had left, which felt a bit late. Tried a breakfast plate -- and this is where things really fell short. The portions were extremely small for the price. Two slices of bacon, barely half a slice of bread, and what looked like about one and a half scrambled eggs for $17 -- that's tough to justify. Overall, friendly service but the value just isn't there -- a one-and-done for me. Saluti.

This is lovely new restaurant in downtown Gilbert. I feel like downtown Gilbert needed a more upscale restaurant, and this fits the bill. I really like the decor, specifically all of the art on the walls. I asked if it was all from one artist because you could definitely see the similarities in the paintings. All of the art is from one artist - - I believe they said it was the wife of the owner. There are great lighting fixtures, and if you know me I'm a sucker for lighting fixtures. There are tables and a bar inside, and a really nice patio with tables and a lounge area with a sofa and chairs outside. All of the staff was very friendly, and I enjoyed hearing about the art from them - - they were very knowledgeable. We started with a couple of cocktails - an espresso martini and my favorite, and amaretto sour. We also ordered the phyllo grissini. I expected the grissini to be long sticks, but was surprised it was little bite-sized pieces. It was so delicious - very crispy and kind of sweet with a drizzle of honey maybe? Whatever it was, it was yummy. For our entree we chose the whole branzino for two with chive and caviar beurre blanc. Lord love a duck, it was so good! I loved that it was just the right size portion, especially when so many places give you too much food. It's was served with hot sourdough bread When we were done, the chef also sent out a mignardise of little raspberry gelee bites. Wow--a bite size explosion of raspberry flavor. Love, love, love! We loved our food. The only thing I could wish for as to have an option to order a side like charred broccolini or asparagus. We didn't see any sides on the menu, but would have liked to have had the option. I'm a sucker for charred broccolini so there's that. I highly recommend Maeva for a date night, or even better, a first date!

Brunch was amazing at the Gilbert Maeve Restaurant. We enjoyed sitting out on the patio. The weather was perfect and gave that Coronado Island ambiance. I ordered the Early Rise and my husband ordered the baked French toast. We both enjoyed an Americano.

I've been to Maeva twice now, the first time was just to get a breakfast pastry to go. It was the lemon curd bun and it was very good! Beautiful looking and perfectly made. First impression is the space is very beautiful! I like that they kept the large patio. The second time I came here was for a sit down breakfast. I got a hot chai latte, and it was delicious. I also got the avocado toast, and let me tell you, the best avocado toast I've ever had. From the bread, to the eggs, to the thinly shaved veggies on top, it was absolutely perfect. Very light and bright, yet creamy with the smashed avocado and the eggs were perfect. My mom got the French toast and she liked it. We also split a cookie and it was good, not my favorite cookie ever but pretty good. The staff was very friendly too. I will definitely be back to try more!

My friend Debi and I loved our lunch here last week! Taking the location of the now defunct Gypsy Coffee space, is this new chic Euro influenced, upscale cafe. Elegantly decorated with artwork by Bradley Wood this classy restaurant offers pretty tables with crisp white tablecloths inside and on the patio. There is an impressive selection of beverages, alcoholic and non alcoholic. In fact it took a majority of the day's menu. While reading the menu, I didn't see any items that jumped off the pages at me but took a chance on the Gilbert Grains $15. I picked a winner! My entree was so colorful with the pistachio chili chips and six minute egg on top! I really adored the flavors of the seasoned prepared root vegetables and cherry tomatoes layered underneath. The service was polite and friendly. The portions were small/European sized but executed well. Even as an espresso lover, I found the iced Lord Bergamot tea $5.50 sensational tasting. While exploring the restaurant, a chess and candle sets caught my eye that were thoughtfully placed in a niche in the hallway. Decoration details such as these elevated the ambiance to me. Debi declared that this is her new favorite place to go!

I've had two very different experiences here, so this is a mixed but hopeful review. A friend went during their soft opening and said the coffee was great, but the workflow was a mess and the front of house seemed flustered. My first visit was on New Year's Eve, a Wednesday, and it was honestly awesome. We walked in, realized we could order at the coffee bar, and got two caramel hot lattes, the green chili chorizo scone, the Maeva BEC sandwich, and the smoked salmon danish. Everything was delicious. The coffee was incredible, the food was solid, and we left super satisfied and excited to come back. Fast forward to the following Sunday. My mom and I came with my 2 children just hoping for a quick latte and breakfast sandwich. When we walked in, there were hostesses and we were told it was a 30 minute wait. I asked if we could just order at the coffee bar and they said yes. We ordered three hot lattes and some pastries. Then I asked about getting a breakfast sandwich and was told we had to be seated to order from the menu. That part was confusing and I wish the hostess had explained that upfront. Apparently weekdays and weekends run totally differently, with brunch service on weekends requiring table seating for main menu items. That info would have been really helpful to know before waiting around with two small kids. It took about 20 minutes to get our drinks and pastries, and when they came out, one of the drinks was iced instead of hot. They offered a refund, which I appreciated, but we didn't have time to wait for a remake because the kids were over it. Overall, the food and coffee are genuinely great. The vibe is nice. But the communication and workflow on busy weekends still need some work. A little more transparency about how ordering works would go a long way, especially for parents trying to make a quick stop. I'll definitely come back, just probably on a weekday when things seem to run smoother.

Freaking love this place. The ambiance, the fact that they but their ingredients from France and their coffee is sooo good. I get the lavender latte every time! Great place for hanging out and relaxing and they did a fantastic job with the design of the place. Im a regular with my daughter.

Wow. The moment I walked into this place, my jaw literally dropped. I was completely in awe of how stunning it was inside and out. The deep green walls paired with black accents, touches of gold and terracotta, and all the beautiful artwork and decor make the entire space feel luxurious and thoughtfully designed. I came pretty early, and at that time only the coffee bar and pastries were available. After 9am, you can order breakfast, and they also have a full bar, so it's a great option for lunch, dinner, or drinks as well. I'm already excited to come back and try more of their menu!! This is truly such a cute spot in Gilbert for almost any occasion: date night, a brunch or evening out with girlfriends, or even renting out part of the venue for a small event. I honestly can't say enough good things about it. The staff were incredibly sweet too, which made the experience even better.

Sat in a perfect spot in the shade. They played Faye Webster, Clairo, men I trust and the Marias! Tastefully modern with a really nice smell too. The cloud coffee was refreshing and flavorful without covering the taste of the espresso. We also got the strawberry matcha with cream cheese topping replacing the strawberry foam. the smoked salmon danish has me "wow " lovely dish. The danish was implacable. Perfectly buttered. Everything paired very nicely. And the lemon zest to tie it off I'd kiss the chef‍ we got the ravioli, it was delish, really enjoyed the sauce, paired with a side of sourdough. We also got the chicken thigh sandwich, not my favorite(not a big fan of chicken thighs) but my wife LOVED it. Said she would come here just for it 100x over again. It didn't need sauce. Everything was juiced and fresh.

(Counter service for breakfast) Service was spectacular. It's clear that all of the staff wants to be there and the place is very elegant. Music was extremely loud and didn't quite fit the setting, but they turned it down when we asked them to. That being said, the food was extremely overpriced in my opinion for the taste and amount received. The drinks we had wouldn't rank in my top 10 and the food was small portioned and tasted pretty standard, even with the unique names and flavors. If you're looking for impressive ambiance and nice service, this is just the place, but if you want delicious food for a better price, I personally would head elsewhere.

This place has such a beautiful ambiance I love the decor and vibes!!! The strawberry matcha is DIVINE honestly one of the best I've ever had! The menu is really limited though and I hope they add more. I went more for the pastries- the ham and cheese danish was yummy but even heated it still was on the colder side. Food was just OK but the drinks and service were yummy!:) this place has a lot of potential though!!!!

Came back again to try their brunch and was once again blown away. The pastries and brunch items were all super delicious. My favorite was the katsu sandwich, ham and cheese danish, and strawberry matcha. Our server was attentive and helped us choose an assortment of pastries to share.

I really did enjoy my dinner at Maeva. Staff was incredibly kind and hospitable from the moment I made a reservation to the time we walked in. The restaurant in itself is absolutely beautiful and aesthetically pleasing with stunning artwork and carefully curated decorations. The food is really good and the cocktails are even better. We found the cocktails incredibly well priced at $15-$18 for what you get. As much as I did enjoy the food two appetizers, two entrees and cocktails ran us over $200 for very small portions. The ravioli and the shrimp scampi are however delicious and worth every penny! They do have an option for get the $90/person tasting menu (cocktails not included) but we appreciated the option to also order a la carte. Sadly even though my dinner was delicious I did leave here a bit hungry.

The romaine was crisp, the garlic-anchovy dressing bold, and the garlic croutons and parmesan tied everything together. The steak was tender, flavorful, and elevated the salad. At the table, we also ordered the cheesesteak with Angus beef, roasted peppers and onions, Havarti cheese, and garlic aioli served on a baguette, with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was hearty and satisfying, and the fries were really good The wagyu burger was another standout--topped bacon, Gruyère and smoky blue cheese, caramelized onions, tomato jam, and garlic aioli on a pub bun. There are some walls which I thought had exposed brick, but later noticed were wall boards. Either way, I love the look. We were seated right away and the nicest server came over. He really seems to love the restaurant and love the food, which is always a plus in my book. The boys each got a beer, and I got the Italian margarita. It was a sweet drink that kind of tasted like an Amaretto Sour, which makes sense since there's Amaretto in it. I liked it. They brought gigantic rolls with butter to the table. I really liked it because most places serve sourdough bread, and I don't really like sourdough bread. These large white rolls were yummy. I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered two meatballs, but I asked if I could have the meat sauce instead of the marinara that it usually comes with. Our server said there would be no problem with that, and there wasn't. Hubby got the spaghetti and meatballs, and son got eggplant parmesan. All of it was delicious and I give kudos for a really yummy meat sauce. For me, the meat sauce can make or break an Italian restaurant. They seem to do a pretty brisk take out business, and there were quite a few people by the time we left. Always a lot of people there so it makes you want to be there. Restaurant wise they have really basic offerings. Places you can find in Mesa, and Tempe, and Scottsdale. Now.... What truly makes Downtown Gilbert special are the small shops that are hidden away from the "main strip". One of those places is Clever Koi. Hidden in the Parking lot space behind Shaq's Chicken spot is a small strip of shops. A book store, smoothie place, and my favorite Clever Koi. Our family has very different tastes when we move from one member to the next. So finding places that we all like gets tricky. Clever Koi makes that easy because we honestly have yet to run into something we don't like. Let's start with our favorite starter. The steamed buns (giggity). The pork belly is hands down phenomenal. An amazing bite that literally makes you want more and more. The lazy fries are just that, again pork belly is included, but that garlic aioli is what drives this dish. The tai salad is obviously classic. The short rib dumplings literally make you close your eyes and just say "Mmmmmm". My middle child is the hardest pallet to please at any restaurant as he only eats certain things, but the Chicken Katsu sandwich here is his second favorite chicken sandwich in all this world. The first time he ate it he spent the whole ride home raving about it. Mind you, we live in San Tan, so not a short ride. The shaking beef is always good. It has this firey kick that brings the heat upfront but does not linger. You cannot forget about the fried rice here. Rice is one of my weaknesses in life second only to pizza. Fried rice ranks right up there with my top favorite ways to eat rice and this ranks right up there with my favorite fried rice places. The main reason we come here is because of the noodles. Ramen, ramen, ramen. When you think of Ramen, I assure you this is what you are thinking of. The broth is oh so savory and reigns in the fresh veggies and proteins to meld them with the noodles for a flavor punch each time you have a mouthful. They have great drinks here as well, or so I've been told by the other adults I come here with. I always just get a sake and Sapporo so... LOL The service is always good here and we somehow always manage to miss the lunch or dinner rush which is awesome. All in all... this is by far my favorite dining spot in downtown Gilbert. Great food, great drinks, great service, great atmosphere, in the middle of a great little square. A must eat for me.

My wife preferred it with the green jalapeño sriracha. The drinks were also very unique and delicious! A sideline view for me and riding the line for my wife. They ate like Red Robin onion rings. They were crispy & cooked perfectly. My burger was good. I got it without the tomato bacon relish. my fries were good & crispy. It's a bit pricey in my opinion for not coming with fries, but still really good. I'm sure we will come back again.

I love a good rooftop and the weather was perfect. While they don't have a parking lot, free parking is available on the street and in the various surface lots and garages in the area. Ambiance (4.5/5): It's tough to beat a rooftop. Here you'll have nice views of downtown Gilbert, including the historic Gilbert water tower (which lights up at night). It's not a huge restaurant/bar, probably 50 seats or so. A good number of tables and then 15 seats or so at the bar. We sat at the bar. There's a pretty nice mural on one end too. Service (4/5): A little slow to start out with and to close out, but overall, friendly. We found one of the last four remaining seats at the bar. If not for that, there would have been a wait. One drink and then we made our way. Overall, about average. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet for this visit but they do have a full menu. Drinks (4/5): Interesting craft cocktail list. The first one on the list is a Sotol cocktail. If you've never had Sotol, it's a Mexican spirit. Not tequila and not mezcal, but somewhat similar to mezcal and it does have a bit of a smoky flavor. The Sotol So Good has sotol, butterfly pea, coconut rum, pineapple, lime, and orgeat. It's purple so it makes an impression. It packs a punch too. If you're looking for a cool spot to grab some food and drinks in the heart of downtown Gilbert, when the weather is nice, Sotol is a great choice!

Right from the start, the elevator was out of order, which wasn't ideal. When we got inside, the place was mostly empty -- only a couple of other guests -- yet we were told to sit anywhere except along a section of tables by the wall. I pointed out a table at the far end, well away from the entrance, but was directed instead to what felt like the least desirable table, with the reasoning being they might need the space for a large party. After a bit of back-and-forth, they eventually let us sit where we preferred, but it made for a poor first impression -- especially considering the restaurant never filled up. Tried a few cocktails -- they were well made and enjoyable, definitely the highlight of the visit. Overall, good drinks but the initial experience left a sour note -- may or may not return. Saluti.
